Breaking news on the batshit crazy front

Here’s Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Arizona’s Maricopa County, where there must be something in the water, explaining that the birth certificate for Barack Obama released by the White House was forged, and pledging to bring the perpetrators of this crime to justice. And if you have the gall to criticize him for being a conspiracy-minded loon, “there’s something wrong.”

In another section of this bizarre event, Arpaio said that he has identified “a person of interest” in the case. Weapons grade idiocy, from a pretty highly placed elected official.

Ah, Arizona, the "Meth Lab of Democracy." Well...I'm not sure about "something in the water" in Maricopa County. But I do know soon, they will run out of water in Maricopa County. Phoenix, after all, sits in a desert atop a rapidly emptying aquifer. You can blame unsustainable development, waste, lack of sound urban planning, lack of regulation - all contributed by Republican policies, of course.

I have absolutely no doubt Obama was born in Hawaii, and their "analysis" is nonsense.

The original document's microfilm record was almost certainly on black and white microfilm stock. That "green safety paper layer" was simply how their document retrieval system prints it, so that the stamp and signature of the state registrar are tamper-evident

Here I removed the green background. It's not a separate layer on the PDF; my guess is that the black and white image was printed on this paper, then it was signed and stamped, and that document was then scanned to produce the .pdf released by the Whitehouse.

Yes, and honestly a country should never have to suffer because its leaders are assholes. Me? I hate the leadership of Saudi Arabia but I don't want the Saudi people oppressed. Separate hating the government's policies from the people is what needs to be done here.

OT, but I am experiencing a moment of rather strong sadness over the loss of my grandfather, who was a true man among men in my life for 30 years.

He passed away in November. He was many things. A war hero (WW II) A loving husband (married 62 years to my grandmother, who is still with us), a loving father and the most awesome grandfather a guy could ever have.

I never remember getting angry at my grandfather and I never remember him being disrespectful towards me. I can't say that about very many people in my life, including those in my immediate family.

The last time I saw my grandfather he was in the hospital and very weak. He kept drifting in and out of sleep. My grandmother, who, bless her heart, stayed by his side night and day until the very end, kept trying to perk him up by saying: "Come on Gordon, let's go dancing."

It was both one of the sweetest and most heartbreaking things I've ever seen. My grandmother taught me a lot about love during Grandpa's final days.

I wrote this poem in honor of them:

The doctor’s left the room now dear,
It’s only you and me,
Until this moment I never knew,
How difficult this could be.

I know the time is getting late,
the moon is hanging high,
and a solitary quiet tear
is trickling from your eye.

These days have been so trying,
I know you badly want to rest,
But if you are willing to allow me,
I have one small request:

Let’s go dancing one more time,
The way we always did,
And tear up that old wooden floor,
Like two lovestruck young kids.

You used to love our nights out,
I can still see that winning smile,
We had the best moves of anyone,
A truly special style.

The years, they passed so quickly,
And our bodies slowed us down,
But every time that music played,
We just had to move around.

It’s no secret the day will come,
When we’ll have to say goodbye,
But before you know it we’ll meet again,

This is a touching tribute to your grandfather. I still think of mine and find it hard to believe he's been gone three years already. Feels like just yesterday he was opening up to me about his experiences in Korea. Never knew my other grandfather but he too is always in my thoughts.

Sorry to go OT here myself but I'd like to recommend to everyone here that if they can watch HBO on demand to watch this great documentary about the Loving case that overturned bans on interracial marriage in this country. All Mr. and Mrs. Loving wanted to do was live in peace and raise a family.

That's too bad. My dad's dad died before my parents even met. I'm named after both of them though. Anyhow, here's a poem I wrote about him after I visited his homecity of Pittsburgh last summer and even saw the house he grew up in and courted my Nana. He's always "Big Dad" to us, story goes that my oldest cousin came up with that and it's always felt unique because I never have known any other family that referred to their grandfather that way and it was a fitting nick since he was the father of six kids and many more grandkids and beyond.
Chasing Legends

One I know little yet all about

I had a favorite great uncle growing up. He was the most gentle man I ever knew. A gardener and golfer, we would sit out on the porch and listen to Bob Eucker call the ballgame. I'll never forget the night I was sleeping over as a teen and my aunt woke me up to help change his diaper. Grew up a little that night. He died shortly after. Sorry for your loss dragonfire1981.

My paternal grandfather died when I was one. I didn't know him and don't care. He used to beat my father, although I didn't know about it until I was an adult. My father never hit any of his seven kids or five step-kids, which is something I never thought about until I found out he was beaten regularly. It's hard to break a cycle like that. I'd call him tonight, but my voice sounds pretty rough right now and it would make him worry. But thanks for reminding me to put it on the agenda soon.

That's a sweet poem.

Maybe there hasn't been enough time, but so far, even Fox do not appear to be covering this. Of Corsi, WND is.

And Arpaio says this investigation wasn't for political reasons, yet uses the same debunked evidence that has been trotted around before. He's so full of it. I wonder if the DoJ weren't pursuing him would he be in the same mind. And of course, one would think that even one as obviously reality challenged as Arpaio would know, that one does not get the keys to the football, or take control of the country, without a lot of background checks by the Secret Service, FBI et al. Such drivel as Arpaio is dribbling out is to be believed by who? The national Birther choir?

And, as for no cost to the tax payer, what a crock. Can Arpaio prove no meetings were held in his county's facilities? He mentions these volunteers have been provided extensive training by his department, who footed the bill for that I wonder.

In short, Arpaio should be dressed in the same underwear he is famous for providing his prisoners and paraded down the main street.

Just to let you know, I'm in the process of getting ready to go to my husband's grandfather's funeral today, and this really made me tear up. That was a beautiful tribute.
