Pamela Geller Spews Hatred at Sandra Fluke: ‘Banging It Five Times a Day’

The right wing blogosphere is in auto-hate mode
Wingnuts • Views: 65,547

Rush Limbaugh may have “apologized” (disclaimer: not a real apology) for his caveman comments about Sandra Fluke, but the right wing blogosphere continues to spew torrents of venom at her.

Tonight’s case in point is hate group leader Pamela Geller, parroting the latest talking point that Ed Schultz is somehow equivalent to Rush Limbaugh, and calling Sandra Fluke a “prostitute” who is “banging it five times a day:” SLUTGATE: CONTACT CARBONITE - DROP ED SCHULTZ!!!!! - Atlas Shrugs.

A 30-year-old poses as a 23-year-old, chooses a Catholic University to attend at $65,000 per year and can not afford ALL the birth control pills she needs… so she wants the US taxpayers to pay for her rampant sexual activity. By all accounts she is banging it five times a day. She sounds more like a prostitute to me. She must have an gyno bill to choke a horse (pun intended). Slut was a softball.

Obama calls her and tells Sandra Slut Fluke that her parents should be so proud of her.
He’s a pimp.
Did he call the sole survivor of the Fogel family massacre?
He is morally bankrupt.

As for Rush calling a spade a spade, or in this case, a slut a slut, advertiser Carbonite is playing selective outrage. Contact Carbonite here and demand that they drop their ads from Ed Schultz’s program.

UPDATE at 3/4/12 8:20:42 pm

Pamela Geller’s audience comments:

you know what.. I hope fluke gets circumcised totally..

she supports muslims wholeheartedly..

may her clit be sliced to the root..

fuck fluke

Holy shit.

How do so many people achieve-- or pretend-- ignorance about how birth control works?

The Deep Resentment of Having to Think About It: Rush Limbaugh and Sandra Fluke

"Rush Limbaugh didn’t attack Sandra Fluke because of her or anyone else’s sexual behavior. Given his personal history — and his more general ideological proclivities — it’s fair to say that he is vigorously protective of behaviors which are, as a function of what they are, fundamentally dependent on women who behave precisely in the manner of the straw-woman he is attacking. That’s not what this is about. Limbaugh called Sandra Fluke a “slut” because she asserted her right to speak publicly about and make publicly thinkable a set of experiences and problems that he has a very direct and personal interest in excluding from public space."

Geller is just a squawking attack parrot, doing the bidding of the leader of the dittoheadGOP.

9 Gus  Sun, Mar 4, 2012 6:27:17pm

Are these the "conservative principles" they are always touting? Being a raging, all-out, gutter-trash-talking, crazy-talking lunatic? Really?

Geller, Vinnie, Limbaugh, and all the rest of these creeps sound like street hustlers. They keep talking about "sluts" but they sure have the talk of the streets down pat.

Sandra Fluke never pretended to be 23 years old. This is another right wing myth.

11 Obdicut  Sun, Mar 4, 2012 6:32:14pm

Again, good on President Obama for calling her. She showed courage that deserves to be recognized.

I think part of the fury from these assholes is that I really doubt she gives a shit what they say about her. She cares that they're trying to block contraception access, I"m sure, but I really doubt she gives a rat's ass what these hateful fucks think of her.

She knows she has the respect of good men and women.

12 Lidane  Sun, Mar 4, 2012 6:35:13pm

I think I've watched Sandra Fluke's testimony three or four times now, and I'm still trying to figure out how any of what she said before Congress merits this sort of misogyny and outright slander of an intelligent, well-spoken, educated young woman.

I can't come up with anything except these people just being hateful assholes. That's the only explanation that makes any sense.

13 SpaceJesus  Sun, Mar 4, 2012 6:35:52pm

Of course all of this will conveniently be ignored 40 years from now by future conservatives, just like how today's conservatives ignore how conservatives of the past opposed women's suffrage.

The only conclusion I can come to, as I voiced earlier today, is that she's being hated for bringing facts into the debate that they can't simply argue away. That birth control pills have uses besides contraception, that insurance companies utilize such archaic regulations to deny claims on technicalities, that contraception is not "cheap" for those working on strict budgets, and that women are suffering from otherwise treatable conditions due to inability to afford something that should be covered by every comprehensive insurance plan.

So the only recourse they see is to destroy not only her, but her testimony. That means demeaning her, dubbing her a "liar" and a "fraud," and doing everything possible to make people reflexively avoid her testimony.

re: #14 jaunte

I guess. I mean, if you look at her comments, she confines them to health-related issues and about how the lack of access to contraception hurts women in their health care.

She never once says anything about her sex life or anyone else's sex life. She was respectful of the Congressional leaders she was speaking to, she was well-dressed, and she handled herself with poise. Nothing about her testimony should merit the sheer amount of hate and rage she's gotten from the right. They're insane.

That birth control pills have uses besides contraception

I think this is the biggest thing. These morons can't even imagine that The Pill has uses other than just preventing pregnancy. They clearly think that anyone on birth control is just doing it to "bang it five times a day" or whatever without the possibility of pregnancy.

It never occurs to these cretins that there are very valid reasons to take birth control pills that have nothing to do with avoiding pregnancy.

The fact is that oral contraceptives (which are used for other purposes than birth control) have to be taken in measured doses over a period of time...NOT every time you have sex.

So the only recourse they see is to destroy not only her, but her testimony. That means demeaning her, dubbing her a "liar" and a "fraud," and doing everything possible to make people reflexively avoid her testimony.

I think you're overcomplicating it. It has been demonstrated many times that bringing facts into a debate, incontrovertible facts, is utterly irrelevant when dealing with a cult. It doesn't matter how obvious the fact is, the equation remains the same. Shout angrily against the facts, rant about something unrelated, use the appropriate keywords, and the following will happen:
1. Conservative cultists will be enraged and attack the same target/support the rant.
2. Conservativist media will create a story out of whole cloth that bears only a passing resemblance to the actual story.
3. All other news sources will report the actual facts/story as one side of the story, faithfully teaching the controversy.
4. Average Americans will get upset that 'everything is so polarised', 'both sides are fighting', and believe that the truth lies somewhere between the facts and the made-up rant.

The point is, they don't need to attack Sandra Fluke to discredit her facts. They don't need to reframe the debate to have people avoid any uncomfortable truths. Facts are not important. What matters is that you present a visceral, emotive reaction to her so that everyone, most importantly the cultists who are looking to you to know what their reaction should be and the journalists who are waiting to know whether they can report this as a story of two opposing views, knows what emotional response is appropriate.

What Sandra Fluke said is irrelevant. She was up there to testify in support of a Thing Liberals Like. Therefore, it is important to Conservativists that she be demonised, so everyone in America knows what emotional response they should have. Even if you now remind everyone that she didn't say any of the things she's being demonised about, and that the facts are really obvious and not especially debatable, it's too late. Everyone has now had their emotional response, and now their minds cannot be changed. It is now 'fact' that she was talking about her sex life, and that one side thinks she's a slut and the other side is defending her right to be a slut. And average Americans now think that yes, Rush and the rest are totally inappropriate to be calling her names like that, but Congress definitely shouldn't be wasting time hearing about people's sex lives when we're in so much debt and we're totally broke.

And if you then demonstrate that she didn't talk about her sex life, they will be upset that both sides are fighting.

If I remember correctly. Dinesh D'souza once wrote that conservatives [sic] have a lot in common with the Taliban.

D'Souza once again turns his eye for social criticism to liberals, this time asserting their responsibility for the rise of anti-Americanism abroad and perhaps even the terrorist attacks of 9/11. The cultural Left in the U.S., by pressing for sexual freedom for women and gays through birth control, no-fault divorce, and support for gay marriage, has not only undermined American culture but also provoked the ire of religious conservatives in other nations, most prominently Islamic fundamentalists. Contrary to President Bush's assertions that terrorists and their supporters hate American freedom, D'Souza asserts that what they really hate is our licentious culture. He notes that American conservatives have more in common with Islamic Fundamentalists than with American liberals.

48 Gus  Sun, Mar 4, 2012 7:01:51pm

Peer into the mind:

We should not dismiss the Islamic or traditional critique so easily. In fact, as our own domestic and cultural debate shows, we know that many of the concerns raised by the radical Muslims are widely-shared in our own society. Indeed, many conservative and religious Americans agree with the Islamic fundamentalists that American culture has become increasingly vulgar, trivial and disgusting. I am not merely referring to the reality shows where contestants eat maggots or the talk shows where guests reveal the humiliating details of their sex lives. I am also referring to “high culture,” to liberal culture that offers itself as refined and sophisticated.

Here, for example, is a brief excerpt from Eve Ensler’s “The Vagina Monologues,” a play that won rave reviews and Hollywood accolades and is now routinely performed (according to its own publicity materials) in “more than 20 countries, including China and Turkey.” In the book version of the play—now sold in translation in Pakistan, India, and Egypt—Ensler offers what she terms “Vagina Occurrences”: “Glenn Close gets 2,500 people to stand up and chant the word ****…There is now a **** Workshop at Wesleyan University…Roseanne performs ‘What Does Your Vagina Smell Like?” in her underwear for two thousand people…Alanis Morisette and Audra McDonald sing the **** piece.”[xxx] And so on. If all of this makes many Americans uncomfortable and embarrassed—which may be part of Ensler’s objective—one can only imagine how it is received in traditional cultures where the public recitation of such themes and language is considered a grotesque violation of manners and morals. Nor is Ensler an extreme example. If the garbage heap of American excess leaves many Americans feeling dirty and defiled at home, what gives America the right to dump it on the rest of the world?

For the record Sandra's estimate of the upper end of birth control pill cost for female law students was actually a bit low. The most expensive combined hormonal non-emergency pill is Alesse, with a brand cost $129 per menstrual cycle (generic cost $99.99)

At the lower generic cost that's $1200 per year, or $3600 for 3 years of law school. This cost is incurred regardless of the number of times a woman has sex, a chaste virgin using the Pill solely for medical reasons unrelated to pregnancy would pay the same. This estimate also ignores the cost of the gynecological visit and pelvic exams necessary to get the prescription, which if they're written up as relating to the prescription may not be covered by Catholic insurance either.

This.

This is something I have tried over and over to get across to my niece's husband. He puts the blame for our current political situation on "both sides." "Both sides" need to stop fighting and get down to business. I keep explaining that it's only one side that's fighting, the other side is trying desperately to have a rational conversation. It just doesn't seem to sink in. And this "polarization" won't stop, even if Rush goes away, until people are able to acknowledge the real issue, that one "side" in the "debate" has jumped the shark. The "Red Scare" didn't stop until enough Americans faced up to the fact that McCarthy was not rational, and thousands of lives were destroyed before the witch hunt ended.

It's pretty crazy stuff too. Read this from Dinesh:

The Bush administration and the conservatives must stop promoting American popular culture because it is producing a blowback of Muslim rage. With a few exceptions, the right should not bother to defend American movies, music, and television. From the point of view of traditional values, they are indefensible. Moreover, why should the right stand up for the left’s debased values? Why should our people defend their America? Rather, American conservatives should join the Muslims and others in condemning the global moral degeneracy that is produced by liberal values.

re: #63 Tigger2005

... He puts the blame for our current political situation on "both sides." "Both sides" need to stop fighting and get down to business....

People differ in their ability to handle conflict (for many reasons), and whenever I hear someone trying to put a boundary around a conflict by equating all the parties as a single entity (them) and thus attempting to dismiss any effort to analyze the conflict - I wonder why that person just doesn't come out and admit that they just don't want to deal with issue.

Rarely are "both sides" equal (in guilt, or culpability, or ability) when it comes to a conflict, IMO. Almost always there is a superior and an inferior party - some sort of asymmetry exists.

I accept that we humans, being naked apes, are like the rest of the primates and are tribal animals with males fighting for dominance (and likewise females fighting for dominance). Whenever there is a conflict my default starting position is that one party is trying to position themselves higher in the relationship/family/group/tribe than the other.

In the case of current American politics this is rather straightforward, given the nakedness of the grab for power of the participants.

On the issue of marriage equality Cameron remarked, “Marriage was defined by God a long time ago. Marriage is almost as old as dirt, and it was defined in the garden between Adam and Eve — one man, one woman for life till death do you part. So I would never attempt to try to redefine marriage. And I don’t think anyone else should either. So do I support the idea of gay marriage? No, I don’t.”

Just another example why the scientific evidence against a literal one man and one woman begetting all humans, starting but a few thousand years ago, being well proven by now is extremely bothersome to the fundamentalists.

To say that "God created marriage" is another form of intelligent design.

And the cause and effect relationship is this: fundamentalist American Christians wish for "God created marriage" (and "God said this or that") and thus there was "intelligent design".

That is, the desire for the social order to be what they want is the motivating factor for coming up with schemes such as "intelligent design".

I believe "marriage" technically isn't actually discussed with that terminology and concept until the story of Abram/Abraham, I believe. Before that there is the story of the daughters of men having sex with some mysterious beings, begetting monsters/great men, and the story of Noah and his family in which Noah is described to have a wife (but there are no details.)

And, for all the whining these folk do about "marriage" being God ordained, I wonder why they don't elaborate on the marriage laws in the rest of the Pentateuch, eh? They always seem to want to skip over those.

Just another example why the scientific evidence against a literal one man and one woman begetting all humans, starting but a few thousand years ago, being well proven by now is extremely bothersome to the fundamentalists.

The rabbis say that while there may have been other couples scattered around, we are told about only one, so that no one will brag of a greater lineage than anyone else's.

The Torah's strategy, if this is indeed it, begins to break down, when confronted with people who derive not moral but biological lessons from it.

Catholic cardinal criticises gay marriages plan

The government's plans for gay marriage have been criticised by the most senior Roman Catholic cleric in Britain.

Cardinal Keith O'Brien, the leader of the Catholic Church in Scotland, said the plans were a "grotesque subversion of a universally accepted human right".

He said the idea of redefining marriage, which David Cameron has said he supports, would "shame the United Kingdom in the eyes of the world".

He said it was wrong to deliberately deprive a child of a mother or father...

I want to know this: Why do conservatives hate America?

They're framing all the questions as "We don't believe in X, so why should we be forced to pay for Y?" Why? Because we're Americans, living in a country based on the idea that if we don't all hang together, we'll hang separetly. No matter who is in power, money goes to programs and projects I don't personally benefit from or believe in, but the system works because there are other programs I do get something out of. Their whole argument attacks the basis of our government.

From the Left to the Right every person has testified before Congress with their views..Freaking period. In fact if you don't have an opinion strongly held one way or the other you are not sitting in front of the Mics and cameras in a Congressional committee meeting on some topic...Rush is so dumb

It reminds me of how mobs attacked the Jews in Germany, or the stoning of the widow in Zorba the Greek.

Evil actions begin with evil words. The treatment of women in certain parts of the world begins with the thought that we have to be "controlled," that simply being human is "bad," and we wind up with FGM and acid in the face.

The election of Barrack Obama to President turns out to have heralded a great event: the venting of 150 years of American (yes, since the Civil War) social angst that had been actively suppressed (for good reasons) over our cultural composition.

For far too long our society pretended to be "over" long held divides in race and class. The pretense has turned out to be too heavy to maintain.

The reality of American society is that we still struggle with looking at each other equally.

I get a lot of spam that uses goo.gl (even though Google claims to filter it). All I see is a way to hide the real URL until after it is clicked and with copy/paste, typing a dozen characters or less is no savings in most cases anyway.

If they're poisoned then that was self-induced poisoning. That itself implies a poisoning of the mind or a state of nuttiness. People can be smart and nuts at the same time. They drove themselves crazy. They drove themselves over that cliff. I chose not to follow that path and am better for it. A state of nuttiness has a cure however and it could be attained through therapy which is what many of these people need. 911 caused a great deal of PTSD in people. PTSD also causes changes in brain chemistry. Houston, we've got a problem and it's really beginning to look like a mental illness pandemic of sorts.

So many of the comments here are so appropriate and so well-said, I'm almost afraid to add anything. But indeed, it is fascinating to hear these self-anointed purveyors of traditional values. Especially when they can hide their real identities in cyberspace.

I had to look up "hatchling" first =) In any event, an excellent question.

I saw Fluke's youtube clip from "The View" this morning. I honestly don't know more than that. But she certainly comes across as a fledgling "Rachel Maddow" of sorts.

I'm only basing that on her vibe (if I can say that) and her style of language. i.e., she took the opportunity to poke at other right-wing talk radio hosts besides Limbaugh. She gave a shout-out to Media Matters. She sounded very aware of the enormity of the situation politically and very clear about her beliefs.

She absolutely did not come across like a damsel in distress or a deer in the headlights. She seemed "ready" for this.

So I just kinda jumped to the conclusion that she wouldn't be a fan of the Cato Institute =)

You are likely correct.

I'm not a fan of the Cato Institute either. Maybe I have an idealized view of what libertarians "ought" to believe, but the Cato Institute seems more corporatist than anything else.

I'm always shocked when "libertarians" like Ron and Rand Paul come out in favor of government interference in women's lives.

I don't think any individual is "supposed to be" anything, pressure or no pressure. To be honest, I'm not quite sure what prompted your response.

But maybe I can put it this way: With the exception of public figures, I don't expect most people to come across as smoothly as Ms. Fluke did on "The View", especially considering the circumstances.

All the news media know her by name. Even the president gave her a call. Hefty advertising dollars have shifted course because the biggest name in talk picked a fight with her. Now, thousands of "ditto-heads" are raking her over the coals, while thousands of passionate supporters are cheering her on all the way.

If I were in Fluke's shoes right now, on a good day, my stomach would be churning constantly. But she's acting like this is all a day at the office.

I won't say "she's a fluke". (I don't wanna get banned from the series =)) But let's just say I'm impressed. Are you saying that I shouldn't be? Or that she's really not all that special?

re: #216 net observer

Libertarian of the modern, confederate version, or something more sensible, like a Georgist?
