Right Wing Blogger Who Attacked Sandra Fluke’s Boyfriend Recommends Antisemitic White Supremacist Author

Tea Party loon “Brooks Bayne” was one of the subjects of this post earlier today: Right Wing Blogs Still Stalking and Spewing Hatred at Sandra Fluke.

Bayne launched an appallingly antisemitic attack against Fluke, by outing her boyfriend as … a Jew. A rich socialist liberal Jew, to be precise.

And tonight, this right wing caveman is defending himself against charges of antisemitism … by citing a book by a notorious antisemite, Kevin MacDonald. Amazing.

And remember, the entire right wing blogosphere united around Bayne’s disgusting post. Here’s CNN contributor and breitbart.com editor Dana Loesch praising Brooks Bayne:

And here’s more on Kevin MacDonald and his connection to the white supremacist group, American Third Position.

Kevin MacDonald initially described his involvement with American Third Position as minimal, saying “All I’m doing is endorsing a platform essentially, and saying this is a good idea and something that should be done.” However, in a December 14, 2009, interview on Radio Free Mississippi, a white supremacist radio show, MacDonald states that he is on the board of A3P and joined other members of the group at a Huntington Beach demonstration against “illegal aliens.”

In the interview, MacDonald takes an explicitly white supremacist stance. He says that whites have less and less power and “will be at the mercy of other peoples, many of whom hold historical grudges against us.” He includes Jews in this grouping. MacDonald also declares, “What we have to get people to understand is that it’s okay to have an explicit white identity.” When asked by host Jim Giles if he would be willing to “brainstorm with neo-Nazi Alex Linder to see what steps can be taken to help organize a white civil rights organization, MacDonald answers, “Absolutely,” and mentions that the A3P is “out there talking about preserving Western culture and dealing with immigration and that kind of thing.”

When asked if he supports the idea of a “white homeland,” MacDonald says that he supports the idea of “repatriating” the millions of people who came to the U.S. since 1965.

MacDonald reserves much of his wrath for Jews. He says that “white nationalists should bring up “the Jewish lobby” as a strategic issue. “I would advocate that we be very frank about Jewish influence and very frank about Jewish dual loyalties and pro-Israel activity. MacDonald adds, “Any political rhetoric that comes out of the party has to be very carefully thought out, and has to be very carefully gone over to not be the kind of crude anti-Semitism you see so often.”

Tip from the Pros: GOOD JEWS is actually short for GOOD JEWS (but we'll keep an eye on you because there's still a chance you'll do BAD JEW stuff).

And oddly enough, we can have disagreeing conversations about politics while keeping it friendly.

The urban centers of Germany had an explosion of culture, counter- and multi-. Jazz and swing--and black music and performers from the US--were very popular. Art lunged in new directions--look at Brecht, or any of the "degenerate" artists that Hitler so abhorred--that were aggressively strange and jarring. Sexual mores loosened such that a very open sex industry not only serviced local needs, but places like Berlin became sex tourism hubs.

To hard-right authoritarians then and now, the Weimar was a symbol of degeneracy. The National Socialists weren't the first, nor were they alone, in labeling the era corrupt and in need of cleansing: the Nazis were just more emphatic about laying the squarely blame on Jews. In the opposite direction, the counter to Weimer liberalism was an invocation of romantic, volkisch sentiments about the true nature and spirit of the German people--as a political, nationalists, cultural, and even occult concept. The Nazis didn't leap out of nothingness with their ideas; they built upon a stream of thinkers and concepts already circulating.

There's another important element to the demagoguery about the Weimar that I think affects its invocation to this day, but only the most open racists would do any more than hint at it: The Stab in the Back Myth took German antisemitism and coupled it the loss of WWI--claiming that the Weimar politicians...influenced by Jews...had betrayed Germany's generals and capitulated the war; and stood aside as ridiculous penalties were laid on the nation at Versailles.

On some level, they know they think like Nazis. People who disagree with them are intolerable, and Jews who disagree with them are not only intolerable, but an intolerable GROUP, the groupness of which extends even to Jews who may agree with them.

Hence the recurrent warnings. "This turned out so badly for you before, not that we're threatening anything, no, oh dear me, it's just that inevitably, things are going to happen, the leftists, the conflict, things will come to a head, and don't be on the wrong side again."

The fact that their recounting is entirely historically nonsensical doesn't keep it from being a rather hypnotic fantasy for them.

There's a book called Celluloid Soldiers that has quite a bit of information on the non-interventionalist (and virulently anti-Jewish) movements in the 20s and 30s. It's a theory of mine that was when the far-right conservatives began to synthesise with the evangelical movement in America.

3 hospitalized after spate of anti-LGBT violence

One gay man was shot in a Columbia Heights restaurant on March 11 and another gay man and a transgender woman were badly beaten on the street the following day in separate incidents during a period of just over 24 hours.

The gay male victims remained hospitalized this week, with one being treated for a bullet wound to his liver and the other awaiting surgery Wednesday afternoon to repair a broken jaw. The transgender woman was treated and released for a head injury after being knocked unconscious.

Aaron Woodland, who identified himself as the victim’s cousin, said he and another cousin were with the victim at the restaurant when the incident occurred. According to Woodland, the three suspects were sitting at a table near where the victim and the two cousins were seated. He said the suspects referred to the victim and the two cousins repeatedly as “faggies” while the two parties sat at their separate tables.

Woodland said the altercation began when the victim got up to pay the restaurant bill and the three suspects blocked his path. He said a fight started after the victim pushed his way past the suspects.

“Once he did that they started calling him faggy again,” said Woodland.

A police source said the second incident occurred about 9:30 p.m. Monday, March 12, at the intersection of Georgia Avenue and Irving Street, N.W., when the victim, a 29-year-old gay man, got out of a cab about two blocks from his home. The source said accounts from witnesses indicate two or three male suspects attacked the victim while calling him anti-gay names as he began to walk home.

Rodney Shaffer, the victim’s partner, said the victim, who asked that his name not be disclosed, told him he remembers being dragged along the street by the attackers, who did not attempt to rob him. Shaffer said the victim called him for help on his cell phone after the attackers walked away. Seconds later, Shaffer said, another group of attackers took the victim’s cell phone, iPad and wallet, leaving the victim lying on the street in a semi-conscious state.

Shaffer said the victim was scheduled to undergo surgery Wednesday afternoon to repair a broken jaw. He said the attackers’ blows to his head and face that caused the jaw to break were so severe that the victim had to be sedated with a breathing tube inserted to prevent swelling of tissue caused by the injury from preventing him from breathing.

I'm sure anti-gay rhetoric has nothing to do with this, just as anti-Jewish rhetoric never had anything to do with any attacks on Jews. Hate speech just makes our society richer.

I got my fill of circular argument over politics 25 years ago. For the most part I just assess if it's worth my time going through the process, and usually decide it's not and just scroll past.

Here and now I generally just leave it to the Lizards who enjoy it. Just don't become outrage junkies hooked on finding the next argument to get worked up over.

. My critics are particularly irked that I use the term "Israel Firster" to describe people who, in my opinion, put the interests of the Israeli right above everything else. This includes politicians such as Newt Gingrich, who as far as I know, is not Jewish. Watching the AIPAC conference convinced me that I must recommit myself to fighting those who are working to lead this country and/or Israel to war in Iran.

But I will do so without using the term "Israel Firster."

It has proven to be a distraction, allowing the pro-war lobby to focus on my choice of words rather than the substance of my arguments. I will not be using it again, for many reasons including the fact that some good people were genuinely offended by it.

BRUSH, Colo. -- Sheriff's officials say a 56-year-old Morgan County man has died after being crushed by a pile of pinto beans in a warehouse near Brush.

Undersheriff Dave Martin tells The Denver Post that Raymond Segura Jr. was working at a Kelley Bean Co. facility when he somehow wound up under a pile of beans estimated at more than 15 feet high. Beans are brought into the warehouse by an overhead conveyor belt.

Sheriff's officials say it took an hour to get Segura out from under the pile.

There are a number of Baptist churches, the Southern Baptist Convention is only one of them. The Jewish lobby consists in effect of probably a dozen major organizations and a few dozen smaller ones that work together on some issues and fight like cats and dogs on other issues. You’re talking about a staff, combined, of a few hundred. That really should have been a bigger topic of discussion here. I find NPR's new editorial policy to be very interesting and has a lot of potential to really improve the status of journalism. Of course it depends on how it's implemented. I think Christian Science Monitor has a similar policy. Has anyone noticed a difference in NPR reporting since policy has gone into effect?

There's more to this of course but here's some parts of the puzzle:

• The Reichstag fire and the ensuing emergency decree restricting personal liberties are discussed.

Well, Rosenberg did go overboard on AIPAC's influence, altho this shows more of his AIPACDS than anything. He also doesn't think AIPAC represents Jews, so it's not much of a "Jewish conspiracy theory".

But then, Tom Friedman is also known to write about the Congress being "bought and paid for by the Israel lobby" and that "the powerful pro-Israel lobby in an election season can force the administration to defend Israel at the U.N., even when it knows Israel is pursuing policies not in its own interest or America’s". But he never alleges they control US policy, just that they influence it-- and it's not even the influence he doesn't like, it's their actual policy positions. It becomes a matter of competing ideologies? The general contention or mood has been that lobbying groups have "bought and paid for" their influence in congress regardless of the specifics of said lobbying groups. People will say things like "the oil lobby has bought and paid for their influence in American society" and barely flinch. AIPAC's influence is typically overstated to the point of conspiracy theories.

I think that's also true with the oil lobbying groups. There are opposing lobbies even in the case of those countering AIPAC however small their influence may be. So until there is serious lobbying reform in this country they will all be free to practice lobbying until such time. People will complain of course and in this case you have the competing lobbying interests of AIPAC, J-Street, and the Emergency Committee for Israel.

I've never been sure what to think of the Fairness Doctrine. It was popular on the Left, and some of the arguments for it sounded reasonable; however, I also heard some good arguments against it from the Right. It seems like if you agree with NPR here, you're rejecting it. It does appear to be a double-edged sword, so perhaps those who support it need to rethink their position.

Yeah, well, because Rosenberg is a career US-Israel relations "analyst"/"pundit" - from his days at AIPAC, through Israel Policy Forum to nowadays. Unlike Friedman. So he has a much narrower focus.

I don't condone his links to Mondoweiss and other kooky sites, and this is one of the reasons why I think it would be better if he went away from MM. But I don't think people who link to Arutz Sheva are necessarily Kahanists or those who link to Sully are promoting Trig conspiracy theories or the Bell Curve.

I think some on the left are misinterpreting the new NPR editorial policy and that they're going to become left wing advocate journalists. I don't think that's what this is about. Most journalists report on a controversy and give quotes from the competing sides. One side claims "x" and the other side says 'y'. The do nothing more than provide the competing claims.
I think what NPR is setting out to do is explore the controversy and evaluate the claims rather than "he said, she said" journalism.

New AZ bill seeks to limit the powers of Federal Law Enforcement

an Arizona senate committee just approved a unconstitutional bill which would require federal law enforcement officers to provide advance notice to Arpaio and his fellow sheriffs before taking action in their counties:

A Senate panel voted Thursday to fire a warning shot of sorts over the heads of federal law enforcement agencies: Don’t come around here unless you get local OK.

The legislation, crafted by Rep. David Gowan, R-Sierra Vista, would require employees of those agencies to first notify the sheriff of the county “before taking any official law enforcement action in a county in this state.”

The only exception would be if the notification would impede the federal officer’s duties. But even then, HB 2434 has a requirement to notify the sheriff “as soon as practicable after taking the action.”

The Constitution simply does not allow states to order federal officials to do anything. Under our Constitution, federal law is “the supreme law of the land,” so when Congress enacts an otherwise valid federal law and empowers federal officers to enforce it, the states have no power whatsoever to limit that enforcement or place conditions on it.

Disturbingly, the bill may also be connected to a radical anti-government group known as the “Oath Keepers.”

Navy chief: U.S. to bring 'sawed-off shotgun' to Persian Gulf

The Navy is sharply increasing its military capabilities in the Persian Gulf, shifting more vessels, aircraft and powerful weapons amid ongoing tensions with Iran over its nuclear program.

Adm. Jonathan Greenert, the chief of naval operations, told reporters on Friday that he plans to double the number of mine-sweeping vessels in the Gulf from four to eight, add four additional mine-hunting helicopters, and deploy next-generation underwater mine-neutralizing drones.

Greenert said all U.S. ships that pass through the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important oil-shipping routes, would also be given new infrared surveillance equipment and short-range guns and missiles for potential use against smaller Iranian vessels.

The admiral, a member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said that existing U.S. armaments -- which were designed for long-distance fights against other powerful vessels -- wouldn’t necessarily work in the narrow waterway. Pentagon strategists have long worried that Iran would try to swarm U.S. vessels with small, fast-moving attack boats as a way of countering the stronger and larger American warships.

“It’s like having this high-powered great rifle, but you’re in a small area,” Greenert said. “Maybe what you need is a sawed-off shotgun.”

I wrote this on pornography on facebook when debating a guy who kinda agrees with Santorum. Sorry if it's a little long, winded, and disorganized.
"Okay, this is where I show my libertarian side. First off, pornography in some form has been existing since the dawn of civilization. It's just taken off big with the rise of mass media and the internet but the same could be said about many forms of entertainment e.g. film, music, etc. Objectification of women is a problem, I will agree but on the other hand, there is the freedom of choice to participate in what is a legal if not taboo career field. It's not a field I would choose for myself or if I had a daughter choosing. Full disclosure I support legalized prostitution as well, in the Netherlands I believe, prostitution is both legalized and regulated, and I believe the prostitutes even have a union or at least the benefits of union membership. Children are subject to more violence at a rising age through more violent video games and film not just sex. Speaking for myself, I'd rather a child see a breast than a decapitation. And frankly, censor programs do exist, and it should be up to the parents not the state to prevent their kids from getting access to stuff like that. I know you're not advocating censorship but I strongly believe this should be up to the parents' discretion. You're probably right that it devalues the specialness of sex and loving relationships but as I said, pornography is probably older than civilization itself, and if one values watching two people screw more than their actual sex, that's more on them than the industry honest. And there are some people who are content without relationships. And I have to go with huh on porn of people killing each other in the balls while wearing horse heads. For one, that sounds like a snuff film. Big difference between people fucking consensually than killing. Also, if those horses were specifically killed for the film then yes that's wrong and ought to be illegal and probably is. But if they're two people fucking with fake horse heads. Yeah it's disgusting, makes me wonder what kind of sick fucks are out there, but I wouldn't want it illegal. As for pornography addication, this is a problem and I remember reading about David Duchovny having it. However, I worry more about addictations to things like drugs and alcohol that turn people violent. Porn addictation is creepy and all but I see it as a smaller problem than alcoholism or drug abuse. Not like people are killing for Playboys and porn. It is a sad addictation but I think there's a lot of sad addictations out there too The porn industry has its problems sure and shouldn't be unregulated but I will argue that pornography is as much part of life as reading, music, drinking, etc. It's a vice sure but who are we without vices honestly? Anyhow, that's my Pornography Manifesto. Not perfect but how I feel."

Last week, the Obama Administration sought to increase the Chevrolet Volt purchaser tax credit from $7,500 to $10,000.

All this for a car so dangerous to first responders that the Department of Energy allocated $4.4 million dollars for programs to prevent fire fighters from electrocuting themselves while trying to rescue crash victims.

The troubled Chevy Volt has been bedeviled by safety issues since it rolled onto the market. Environmentalists expected it to be one of the cornerstones of a cultural move towards low or no emissions vehicles. Instead, it became something between a punch line born of unfulfilled expectations and a real threat to consumers.

According to industry expert Gary Howell of Howell Automotive, one of the problems lies with the batteries that power the vehicle. “The lithium-ion used in modern electric cars are not like the old lead-acid batteries of the past. They are more powerful and, when damaged, the fluid inside can leak out, creating a short on the circuit boards that are used to control the batteries. The fluid dries and crystallizes, creating a short, sometimes weeks after the damage to the battery occurred.”

This results in spontaneous fires, such as happened in a Volt three weeks after a crash test at the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

No wonder they are having trouble selling this car.

Wisconsin state Sen. Pam Galloway (R) is resigning from the chamber today, citing a family health situation. Galloway was one of the targeted incumbents in upcoming recall elections.

Well, here's a mini review. MacDonald, Culture of Critique, p. xxxviii:

Stuart Kahan's The Wolf of the Kremlin is a notorious forgery. Not only it was repudiated by Kaganovich's family, it contains several well-known and easily debunked myths, like that Stalin had a third wife, Kaganovich's sister Rosa. Stalin didn't have a third wife and Rosa Kaganovich died in 1926. These facts can be easily verified in post-Soviet Russia.

Someone who could read through this whole book and not catch a whiff of it being a fake is not a scholar worthy of much consideration.

Ultra-nationalist, racial separatist, and the economic policy boils down towards re-introducing 17th century Merchantilism. Not NeoMerchantilism, this is the trade walls stuff of the original.

And given how the other economic systems often turn rapidly towards authoritarian controls I expect any system officially trying to implement this would just as, if not more, rapidly turn into a rabid authoritarian regime paying lip service to the concepts. (And the magic "separate but equal" terminology turns up as well.)

And the hate for the current United States is there under the surface. We're multi-racial (within the meaninglessness of the term in reality), multi-cultural and thus the opposite of everything they want.

Argumentum ad David Duke

This is an absolutely outrageous example of "journalism" from the New York Sun. According to the article, the supporters of the excellent piece by Mearsheimer and Walt are listed as David Duke (= KKK = Nazi), the PLO, and "a senior member of Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood, an Islamist organization." Obviously a bad lot. On the other hand, the opponents include prominent ex-government officials, academics, and media people: Marvin Kalb, Dennis Ross, and Mort Zuckerman, and Daniel Pipes—all well-known members of the Israel Lobby. A previous article, titled David Duke Claims to be Vindicated by Harvard Dean, did the same thing, but the opponents in that one included a different set of Zionist operatives: Alan Dershowitz, Malcolm Hoenlein (executive vice chairman of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations), Martin Peretz, Aaron Miller, Andrea Levin, and Morris Amitay. The main technique is to find fault with some quibble and thereby discredit the whole thing. The classic is the statement in the article that Daniel Pipes has offered a reward to anyone who can prove that he started Campus Watch at the behest of the Lobby. But M & W simply point to Pipes being a member of the Lobby—someone with a long record of pro-Israel activism (perhaps fanaticism is a better word in Pipes' case). Rather than debate the truth of this, Pipes interprets M & W's to imply some sort of secret organization giving Pipes his marching orders. But of course, this can't be proven, and is probably not true anyway. So the implication is that everything M&W say is tainted.

Not to be outdone, James Taranto picked up the David Duke theme in his op-ed piece in the Wall Street Journal. This piece does deal with some of the actual arguments in M & W (although it leaves an awful lot out), but Taranto just can't help tying it all together by emphasizing the Duke angle. I guess the idea is that if you embed your arguments in the Duke stuff, maybe people won't look too closely at the arguments. Think of Duke as a tool for focusing the mind and simplifying the issues.
Too bad Hitler isn't still alive so the Sun and Taranto could find out the Fuhrer's attitude on this one. I guess we'll have to settle for the argumentum ad David Duke.

PS: Sept. 20, 2007: This type of attack continues. Mearsheimer and Walt gave a talk at UCLA on Sept. 19. A flyer distributed to audience members by "Stand With Us" has a page titled "Extremists Endorse 'The Israel Lobby.'" On it are listed David Duke, the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood's guidance council, Abdulmo'em Abulfotah, Hamas, and Mark Weber, director of the Institute for Historical Review. The first page sums up their critique: "Fails to Meet Academic Standards; Includes Factual Errors; Carries Anti-Semitic Overtones.

What I find truly horrifying is that Baynes must have heard SO MUCH anti-Semitism or has been so exposed to it in one way or another (I'm afraid to wonder how) that he doesn't even recognize it. And why he's been shocked ever since that slam piece he wrote went viral.

These people you can't change. It's too far ingrained in their thinking.
