Breitbart ‘Editor’ Joel Pollak: ‘We Went Through a Vetting Process’

The fail just keeps spreading
Wingnuts • Views: 32,212

New York magazine’s Joe Coscarelli spoke to breitbart.com “editor” Joel Pollak about their utterly ridiculous EXCLUSIVE BOMBSHELL INTERVIEW with “U2’s Bono” (who turned out not to be Bono).

Pollak says, “We went through a vetting process on this and appropriate questions were raised and appropriate answers were given.”

Which, if true, is actually even more pathetic than if they hadn’t, because the guy really doesn’t even look much like Bono, and not only that — he has no Irish accent. They can’t even tell an obviously fake Bono from the real one, but they’re going to “vet” the President?

“We went through a vetting process on this and appropriate questions were raised and appropriate answers were given,” Breitbart.com editor Joel Pollack assured us this afternoon by phone. “But the videographer then asked us to take it down, so we did.” But Pollak said he would “neither confirm nor deny” that mistaken identity was the reason for the scrubbing.

Again, the Breitbrats prove that they’re pathologically unable to admit they screwed up, big time. Or should I say, Big Hollywood Time?

Obviously you didn't, and they weren't

What did this "vetting process" consist of?

"Hey, are you Bono?"
"No."
"Well, you kinda look like him, so answer these questions for us!"

Clearly this was a false flag operation carried out under the direct orders from George Soros though Eric Boehlert and Media Matters for America in order to discredit the patriotic warriors at Breitbart.com. Any criticism and ridiculing of Joel Pollak also shows that you're all antisemitic!!!!!!!!!

I seriously doubt if this Pollak character has the straight-up sociopathy necessary to fill the Breitbart clown shoes. He's not doing nearly enough frothing at the mouth which was the unlamented one's stock-in-trade.

For his own sake, I hope he makes a swift exit from the business and goes into tax accounting or something safe like that.

Jason Mattera interviews someone — is it Bono?

One of the reasons that Mattera got so little from his interview is that Sfera doesn’t do the whole Bono routine — just the look. “I wasn’t pretending to be Bono,” says Sfera. “I don’t walk around with an accent. I don’t fake people out. . . . I have a very strong, independent life, and I’m comfortable in my own skin,” he continues, noting that he has been playing “Bonodouble” for 11 years.

Sfera says he was “waiting” for Mattera to figure out that he wasn’t really Bono. That moment didn’t come, and Sfera decided not to help his interlocutor. “I let him go,” says Sfera. “I didn’t think he was being legitimate and fair.”

He added, “I think in the end he was trying to find dirt, and I wasn’t there to give it to him. I didn’t speak as Bono for Bono with an Irish accent.” Sfera says he’s a “fan of charitable causes” and admires Bono’s work to “assist in extreme situations for humanity.”

After looking at some of Mattera’s work, Sfera noted, “He’s like those guys that did that whole ACORN thing.”

Speaking of which:

[...]

So what does this have to do with Missouri’s Senate Joint Resolution 47? The summary of the bill states: “This proposed constitutional amendment, if approved by voters, would modify Article IX, Section 8, commonly referred to as the "Blaine Amendment" by removing the prohibition on the distribution of public moneys to religious organizations. Instead, it provides that nothing will prohibit the enactment of legislation pertaining to any education program, funding, or other support to benefit children attending any Missouri public or nonpublic elementary or secondary school, so long as the legislation complies with the requirements of the First Amendment to the United States Constitution.”

There are many problems with this action, even without the religious overtones. One of the most important is that private and parochial schools are exempt from the Missouri Assessment Program tests, so there is no legitimate method of measuring performance. If the state is licensing the programs to educate our children, why are these programs exempt from the one avenue to make sure our children are educated to the standards that publicly schooled children are held?

As important, there is the lack of any concern by our legislators that by allowing government fund to religious schools, the government of Missouri is messing with religion — something even constitutional purists can see if they would only open their eyes. If the tea party, libertarians and other conservative groups want to live the Constitution as originally written, SJR 47 is a clear violation of the First Amendment.

[..]

This isn't just about having, say, a church distribute emergency goods (paid by the state) or some other innocuous expenditure. Rather, it is an attempt to start fundamentally changing the way money is spent in MO, on education or anything else, but in the end especially on education.

This is what modern right wing investigative journalism is about: no standards, professional, journalistic or moral. One obtains an interview with a major figure like Bono through a press agent, one does not just come up to him.

And neither would a figure of his public stature give a casual interview to some goombah off the street, he would appear on a major network with a known interviewer. They were just too full of themselves and oblivious of the facts to even begin to think in these terms.

Ot to put in it Sergey's terms: In Soviet Union, Bono vets you!!!

Should not try to get on "MasterChef":

No sweetness for meat-eaters

Many meat-eating animals have lost their ability to taste sugars, having lost a working copy of a gene that encodes a taste receptor for sugar.

Peihua Jiang and Gary Beauchamp at the Monell Chemical Senses Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and their co-workers sequenced DNA from 12 members of the order Carnivora, including spotted hyenas and several sea mammals. Seven of the species carried a malfunctioning copy of the Tas1r2 gene that encodes a sweet taste receptor. However, the exact mutations differed from one species to another, suggesting that carnivores have independently lost their ability to detect sugars during the course of evolution.

Furthermore, bottlenose dolphins (pictured) and sea lions lack working copies of the gene encoding receptors for tasting savoury flavours, or umami. Dolphins also seem to have lost a receptor that senses bitter compounds. The authors say taste may not affect what these creatures eat as sea lions and dolphins tend to swallow their food whole.

Newt and Santorum now have etch a sketches on the campaign trail. this should be fun.

from gingrich:

"Now given everybody's fears about Gov. Romney's flip-flops, to have his communications director say publicly to all of us, if we're dumb enough to nominate him we should expect by the acceptance speech he'll move back to the left, triggers everything we should worry about,"

...So here's Gov. Romney's staff, they don't even have the decency to wait until they get the nomination to explain to us how they'll sell us out, and I think having an Etch A Sketch as your campaign model, raises every doubt about where we're going."

from santorum:

Near the end of his speech, as he asked Louisiana voters for their support, Santorum put the election in binary terms, saying they should support a candidate who stands "firmly on the rocks of freedom, not on the sands of an Etch-A-Sketch toy."

Speaking of creationists, they don't seem to have any trouble with consuming 65 million year old oil:

Tawke oil well tops 25,000 b/d from Cretaceous

The Tawke-16 well in the Kurdistan region of Iraq flowed at a combined rate of more than 25,000 b/d of oil from multiple zones tested separately, likely making it the field’s test well so far, said DNO International ASA, Oslo.

Appraising the field’s undrilled northern flank, the well went to 2,369 m and cut more than 350 m of gross continuous oil column in the Cretaceous interval. It flowed 26-27° gravity oil and is expected to be connected to existing pipeline and processing facilities by mid-April.

The cost to drill, complete, and test the well was under $7 million.

DNO International is continuing to develop Tawke field with a goal of boosting production to 100,000 b/d by the end of 2012 (OGJ, Feb. 6, 2012, p. 48). Tawke-16 is the first of four wells targeting the Cretaceous that the company plans to drill in 2012. A fifth well, Tawke Deep, will also penetrate the deeper Jurassic and Triassic intervals in the field later in the year. [...]

BTW, one might argue this is why we went into Iraq - to return their oil production to above 3 million bpd. And, one can get a whole lot more oil per million dollars spent on a hole in Iraq than one can in, say, North Dakota or Alaska. Just don't tell Newt.

On The Posner Show, Sarah and E.J. discuss whether more aggressive efforts to restrict access to abortion and contraception have sparked a resurgent women's movement. Can we thank Rick Santorum for this—for being honest about his views on contraception in a way that most conservatives are not? E.J. makes the argument that women's bodies are an economic issue, not a "culture war" issue. E.J. is optimistic about young women seeing this an freedom issue, and their activism through Slutwalks, social media, and more. Is the fight over contraception really just a rear-guard attempt to undo health care reform? Plus: Are liberals underestimating the political clout of religious conservatives?

OT - For those of you who enjoy reading Sarah Posner at Religion Dispatches, there's an interesting discussion between her and E.J. Graff (The American Prospect, Brandeis University) over at bloggingheads.tv:

Comfortably Numb

Hello? Hello? Hello?

Is there anybody in there?
Just nod if you can hear me.
Is there anyone at home?
Come on now
I hear you're feeling down.
Well I can ease your pain
Get you on your feet again.
Relax.
I'll need some information first.
Just the basic facts.
Can you show me where it hurts?

There is no pain you are receding
A distant ship smoke on the horizon.
You are only coming through in waves.
Your lips move but I can't hear what you're saying.
When I was a child I had a fever
My hands felt just like two balloons.
Now I've got that feeling once again
I can't explain you would not understand
This is not how I am.
I have become comfortably numb.

O.K.
Just a little pinprick.
There'll be no more, ah!
But you may feel a little sick.
Can you stand up?
I do believe it's working, good.
That'll keep you going through the show
Come on it's time to go.

There is no pain you are receding
A distant ship, smoke on the horizon.
You are only coming through in waves.
Your lips move but I can't hear what you're saying.
When I was a child
I caught a fleeting glimpse
Out of the corner of my eye.
I turned to look but it was gone
I cannot put my finger on it now
The child is grown,
The dream is gone.
I have become comfortably numb.

I hate to have to defend Crazy Uncle Ron, but he was speaking in terms of his fellow candidates, who have accepted Secret Service protection. Still, if you read between the lines, it comes as yet another sign of how much of a "rich men only" club major party candidates have become. $50,000/day for private security protection is not something that Average Joe Sixpack could pay out of pocket, yet Ron thinks that accepting SS protection means you're accepting "welfare."

kathleen parker's take:

A Javelin or a Petrus in the White House?

To those who know him, his selection of Petrus is perfect, again tinged with irony. In Latin, petrus means rock and also is associated with Saint Peter, the first pope of the Catholic Church. Jesus said to Peter, “Upon this rock I will build my church,” and so Peter did. St. Peter’s Basilica, the centerpiece of the Vatican, is built upon Peter’s bones.

...All of this and more are contained in the name Petrus — and in the self-image of one Rick Santorum. Grandiose? Or self-sacrificing, humble and willing to submit to public humiliation and agony?

George Zimmerman not a member of recognized neighborhood watch organization

When 28-year-old George Zimmerman was discovered by Sanford, Florida police standing over the body of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, they accepted Zimmerman's claim that he killed in self-defense as a neighborhood watch captain. Now, through a statement released by the National Sheriffs' Association (NSA) -- the parent organization of USAonWatch-Neighborhood Watch -- it has been revealed that Zimmerman was not a member of any group recognized by the organization. Zimmerman violated the central tenets of Neighborhood Watch by following Martin, confronting him and carrying a concealed weapon.

"In no program that I have ever heard of does someone patrol with a gun in their pocket," Carmen Caldwell, the Executive Director of Citizens' Crime Watch of Miami-Dade, told theGrio. "Every city and municipality has their own policies. Here in Miami-Dade we train people only to be the eyes and ears of their communities. Not to follow and most definitely not to carry a weapon."

Despite this, Zimmerman admitted that he had fired a weapon on the night of the incident. In addition, the non-emergency call Zimmerman placed on February 26 before the shooting revealed he had been pursuing Martin by car before accosting the youth on foot -- all direct violations of Neighborhood Watch policies.

Granola bars themselves aren't bad. It's when they're made with too many artificial sweeteners and sugars that they're a problem, since some of them will have as many fat grams and calories as a candy bar:

There are some commenters who believe that Jesus called Simon "Petros" because he wasn't very bright. Plenty of faith which was more important, but dumb as a box of rocks in most respects. I find it ironic that they're calling trail mix unhealthy when as many American kids eat fast food as often as they do. It's like arguing about whether kids should exercise nine hours a week or nine and a half hours a week when most kids exercise one.

It's because "granola" has just become a magic word for marketing whatever crunchy food someone wants to sell. Originally the word was to signify roasted grains used for human consumption, but given the human propensity to believe in magic the word has subsequently been used to market just about anything.

Well...the problem is that most trail mix shouldn't be all-the-time snack food. It's food built for exertion, with a big dollop of fat and sugar in a small package.

Sitting around eating trail mix isn't a lot different than eating candy bars. And for most food-secure people the minerals and (maybe) vitamins are actually superfluous rather than necessary.

Granola--originally dried or grain--on the other hand, has had lots of extra stuff added that makes it more calorie-intensive. Dried fruit, for example, is deceptively unhealthy from a caloric standpoint.

Ironically, cacao beans are seeds and are not bad for you (he wrote, about to run out and buy some chocolate.) So if someone just wanted to break up and roll out some cacao beans and put them in a "granola" mix it would be fitting, but very bitter tasting.

The "chocolate" used in most confections has very little real chocolate in it, and is usually just sugar and vegetable oils.

FTFMe. The key is to avoid the combination of yummy + sedentary. You gotta earn that stuff.

There's not much difference between a Snickers bar and a Power Bar, if you just look at the fat/carb/protein content. If you look at the price, the Snickers is a better deal.

One-third of America's kids eat fast food every day. (I believe this means that on any given day, 1/3 of kids eat fast food, not that 1/3 of kids are eating it every single day.)

A sandwich and a granola bar would be a big step up. At the very least, nothing would have been put into a deep-fat fryer.

These historical events make them look barbaric. So I take the view that, since history shows they can't be dealt with rationally, one must be aggressive against them, since they understand little else. This view hasn't been helped by my dealing with this year's MSA president.

I just think trying to deal with them rationally is like trying to negotiate with a brick wall.

Tying yourself to Bush-economics and TARP -- perhaps not so brilliant.

"I keep hearing the president say he's responsible for keeping the country out of a Great Depression," Romney said at a town hall in Arbutus, Maryland. "No, no, no, that was President George W. Bush and [then-Treasury Secretary] Hank Paulson."

More than anything else, Romney's candidacy has confirmed for me the degree to which money trumps all in politics. The man shows time and time and time and time and time and time again that he is just a terrible, terrible politician. He has no real clue how to connect or identify with people, how to handle tricky PR issues without several insulating layers of middle management, or when to shut up. This is city-council-level stuff, for crying out loud.

PHOENIX -- Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio has sent a letter to the Director of the U.S. Selective Service System headquarters in Arlington, Virginia requesting the agency to conduct an investigation into Barack Obama's Selective Service registration form from 1980.

This comes after the preliminary findings of Arpaio's six- month investigation that determined it may a forgery.

The letter also asks for an original form so forensic document examiners can analyze the document for authenticity.

Apraio claims he is just doing his job, and isn't targeting the president.

"I'm not accusing anyone right now of any violation of law," Arpaio said. "However when you look at the birth certificate and the selective service form I think there's pretty good evidence that there's a possible forgery."

You need to cool down a lot. And not just in the short term.

History paints, often justifiably, a poor picture of a lot of people. It's not a good standard on which to judge the living. The past is a damn charnel house.

And talking about purges and punitive action is just childish. Death shouldn't be trivialized, and warfare does not have video game, clear-cut victory terms. Silencing opponents by making them corpses isn't a "win"--it's a deferment at best.

And it's also not good to walk around angry about things you have no control over. From the way you talk about your family life here, it's sounds like you need to make terms with your own experiences, learns something from them, and not let your emotional life be defined by frustration, indignation and outrage. It doesn't help you, it doesn't help the things you care about.

The win in this situation is to not let the things/people that anger you control your life or what's going on in your head. Going off on Salafism and/or assholes in the MSA every day doesn't show that you care, it shows that these events dominate your thought process.
