Breitbart.com Conspiracy Theory Watch: Liberty Chick’s ‘Planted Comments’ Investigation

Pretending the problem doesn’t exist

When Andrew Breitbart was alive, and I’d post one of those long lists of quotes from his sites full of raving racist insanity, he knew how to respond — by accusing me of planting all of them myself. He’d repeat this claim over and over on Twitter, apparently hoping that his dim-witted followers would accept it at face value without thinking too much about it. And of course, most of them did.

In a way, it’s flattering that Breitbart seemed to think I was such an evil genius that I could do all these things at once: run LGF and post articles and comments there, write the code for the site, eat and sleep and do other human-type things, and yet still find time to post thousands and thousands of racist comments at breitbart.com and other sites every day, all with different account names and different writing styles. And then, since many of these comments also received numerous “likes,” I was presumably also clicking the “like” buttons with still more stealth accounts.

Last January, this conspiracy theory took a new turn, when breitbart.com “Investigative Writer/Researcher” Mandy Nagy (aka @Liberty_Chick on Twitter) informed me that she was preparing to rip the lid off the plot, with a devastating exposé showing exactly who was planting all these comments and why.

Here are some of @Liberty_Chick’s tweets, promising to soon reveal the results of her investigation:

When I offered to send Ms Nagy my IP address, so she could either rule me out or definitively prove my nefarious evilness, and asked her to let me know when she released her report, she responded:

Uh, OK.

But notice the date on these tweets: January 21, 2012. That’s more than two months ago. I know a lot has been happening since then, but I have to wonder … when is this devastating exposé going to appear? I was really looking forward to this BOMBSHELL EXCLUSIVE.

I mean … @Liberty_Chick couldn’t have been lying about investigating and discovering all those planted comments, could she?

It kind of makes her final tweet to me (before blocking me) rather ironic, don’t you think?

Meanwhile, all of the sickening racist comments I pointed out yesterday in this article are still visible at breitbart.com.

At least Andrew Breitbart had the sense to go ahead and delete comments like that, even as he pretended they were all planted. The heirs to his throne seem to have no problem with them at all.

You've obviously planted Liberty Chick. She's not real, just a twitter account you made to make people think there's an investigation going on. That way the real people won't bother to investigate.

Maybe her investigators are still in Hawaii with Sheriff Joe's and Trump's investigators looking into the Obama birth certificate cover up. But any day now, the amazing information is coming out. Any... day..... now...... zzzzzzzzzzzz

I strongly suspect that Charles infiltrated Breitbart's network of web sites long ago. He's just using them to gather names of right wingers so he can imprison them later. AS SOON AS I HAVE PROOF OF THIS I'LL SEND IT TO PAM GELLAR!

Actually, Andrew Breitbart is alive and well. Charles is a sock puppet for Andrew, so he can plant comments as his own site to show how liberals will try to attack him. I discovered all this by examining the artifacts in JPEGs of Breitbart after his death.

And he almost got away with it too.

Scalia surprised anyone expected him to read the Bill: 'You Really Want Us To Go Through These 2,700 Pages?’

JUSTICE SCALIA: Mr. Kneedler, what happened to the Eighth Amendment? You really want us to go through these 2,700 pages? (Laughter.) And do you really expect the Court to do that? Or do you expect us to — to give this function to our law clerks? Is this not totally unrealistic? That we are going to go through this enormous bill item by item and decide each one?

Maybe Scalia should have read the bill before he brought up the Cornhusker kickback during the hearing. As Dave Weigel notes, the plan Scalia brought up — to have indefinite Medicaid coverage for Nebraska — was not in the final version of the Affordable Care Act that Congress passed.

Here's a little clue to reality as far as comments on the internet are concerned:

Yes, the Chinese government, and some companies, seem to be paying people to comment at websites. How extensively is really not known. No, you can't 'tell' that someone is one of these people just because they disagree with you.

No, Mossad is not paying me, and Hamas is not paying Zoe Lawson (for example) to post our respective opinions about the Israeli/Palestinian conflict online. Both of us are doing so for free, in our copious spare time.

The racist comments at conservative websites were left there by real racists, not liberals trying to make Fox News look bad.

The people you don't like on progressive websites, similarly, are not being paid by the Koch Brothers to say that. No, I don't want to see that article from two years ago again.

People lie on the Internet about all kinds of shit, but oddly enough, their political opinions are not usually among the things they lie about. Sometimes they will lie about personal information to try to give their political opinion more weight, like people who claim to be black so that their conservative beliefs will carry more weight.

I'm sure there are some exceptions to some of the above, but overwhelmingly, this is how the Internet WORKS.

Also, there are many racists in America. You can deal with them by pretending they belong to a political party you don't belong to, or you can just ban their asses.

That is all.

68 blueraven  Wed, Mar 28, 2012 3:45:54pm

All or nothing.

That has been the dominant Republican approach to Obamacare from the start, and it is the dominant Republican approach today.

...

Make no mistake: If Republicans lose in the Supreme Court, they'll need an answer. "Repeal" may excite a Republican primary electorate that doesn't need to worry about health insurance because it's overwhelmingly over 65 and happily enjoying its government-mandated and taxpayer-subsidized single-payer Medicare system. But the general-election electorate doesn't have the benefit of government medicine. It relies on the collapsing system of employer-directed care. It's frightened, and it wants answers.

"Unconstitutional" was an answer of a kind. But if the ACA is not rejected as "unconstitutional," the question will resurface: if you guys don't want this, want do you want instead?

Republicans will need a Plan B. Unfortunately, they wasted the past three years that might have developed one. If the Supreme Court doesn't rescue them from themselves, they'll be heading into this election season arguing, in effect, Our plan is to take away the government-mandated insurance of millions of people under age 65, and replace it with nothing. And we're doing this so as to better protect the government-mandated insurance of people over 65—until we begin to phase out that insurance, too, for everybody now under 55," - David Frum.

Romney Laughingly Recalls Father's Layoffs

The GOP frontrunner recalled a "humorous" anecdote to Wisconsin voters in a conference call about how his father, George Romney, closed an auto factory in Michigan during his businessman years only to go to great lengths to hide this fact from voters when he ran from governor in the same state. Not only that, he suggested this gave him a closer relationship to Wisconsin, the state where George Romney shipped his factory, in his own current campaign.

re: #87 Obdicut

It's a tricky thing, technically yes, you're arrested when your freedom of movement has been taken away. That's the etymological root of the word arrest, to stop. However in practice it's often up to the person to determine that they've been constructively arrested by asserting their rights, especially to remain silent. Police use this wiggle room whenever it suits their purposes.

They did if there was probable cause. The lead cop seemed to think there was cause, but the states attorney said no.

Yeah, I mean, refusing to release videos isn't something that would be good.

There's a common misconception that cops aren't allowed to release information before a trial so as not to prejudice it. It's untrue. They're not allowed to make personal comments, like saying that the guy they're charging is an asshole, but they can certainly say they feel they have a strong case, point to the evidence, etc.

The judge will instruct the jury to ignore pre-trial publicity, and the lawyers can eject jurors if they show bias.

No, I really don't often hear the cops say that. They say that when it's about an internal investigation sometimes, but in general they keep the public informed about other investigations. They won't refer to it if they're still trying to catch someone, obviously.

They do that when there's a suspect still at large. Elements of a crime scene, especially murders, deliberately not released to help weed out false confessions. There's no investigatory reason in this case not to release the video.

Bbiab. Basic human greed has won out. I will blow $10.00 for a chance to win $500,000,000.00 in next Fridays Megamillions drawing (176,000,000 to 1 odds though).

If you don't get a chance to get to the store, you could just burn a $10 dollar bill. More or less the same thing as buying a ticket. Good luck, though.

re: #173 Killgore Trout

It could taint the local jury pool. Most people in the area would likely have seen the video.

Again, that's a common misconception. You can't taint the jury pool by releasing facts about the case. You can taint it in other ways, but not by saying what the cops believed happened. Otherwise there'd be no information released by the cops up until a trial. Think about it.

As I understand it, potential jurors could be eliminated for having preconceptions about guilt/innocence - even if it based on evidence that would be a part of the trial. Isn't that the case? Would they only eliminate jurors for prejudice based on inadmissible evidence?

Well, yes. But cops obviously don't wait before trials to release evidence. They do it all the time. They say that they found the gun and it was registered to whoever and they've arrested him. I don't get where this idea they don't release information before trials even comes from, we've all seen them doing it.

The judge instructs jurors to ignore media reports, and if they feel they can't do that they get excused, and if the prosecutor or defense attorney feels they're being deceptive they can challenge and stuff.

But notice the date on these tweets: January 21, 2012. That’s more than two months ago. I know a lot has been happening since then, but I have to wonder … when is this devastating exposé going to appear? I was really looking forward to this BOMBSHELL EXCLUSIVE.

Well, there were other vital INVESTIGATION BOMBSHELL EXCLUSIVES, such as the Black professor dude who said something and Obama in 1991 or something. //
