Charles, if I may, I want to propose an idea of how to stop bumping off of the pages from the "Recent" list without limiting the no. of posts.

After all, we're not concerned with how many pages people actually post, but only with prolific posters not bumping off more rare posters off the list too quickly. But then the only thing that needs to be limited is the number of slots in the "Recent" list per user. 1, maybe 2 max.

I.e. if user A posts 15 pages and the limit is 2, his last two posted articles will be on the top of the list, until another poster comes along and posts his or her n pages, which then will be on top, but taking no more than 2 slots.

This will not discourage participation both by prolific and rare posters. What do you think?

Hugging and Kissing Banned From Egyptian Public TV

A group of Islamic supervisors of the Egyptian Public Broadcaster will be in charge of removing 'immoral ' footage from films the network has in its archives. The ban will apply to scenes featuring hugging, kissing and belly dancing. As reported by the daily Kuwait al-Anba, which quotes sources from inside the Network, such a decision could bring about either the removal of important scenes from movies that are an integral part of Egypt's cinema or their complete ban from any TV programming. Such movies have been aired several times in the past already. The daily believes that the setting up of a supervising authority on cinema and TV content is a clear indication of the ground which the Islamic parties have been gaining in post- Mubarak Egypt. According to the daily's sources, censorship will be applied to the last 50 years of filmmaking.

Nah, just have two parents in the military. Government spending is always one of two things: "underfunded" and "wasted." Most often it ends up the latter because if you only spend what you needed that year, the government bean-counters assume you don't really need the rest of the money and cut it, meaning you don't have it when you really do need it.

I'm an atheist and my appreciation for Dawkins is somewhat limited. He routinely refers to raising religious children as child abuse. I understand his basic concept but his wording is unnecessarily inflammatory. If he really doesn't intend it to be treated as literal child abuse he probably shouldn't use the term.

Well, then I suggest that the liberals and secularists get their shit together posthaste and demonstrate that they can do something useful beyond organizing protests. Egypt is a poor country and basic necessities are often in short supply. If I have children who are hungry and need an education, I'm going to turn to the people who can provide that. If I am sick or my husband is hurt, we're going to turn to people who can provide us with free medical care so we can continue working and trying to scrape by. Ditto for clean water, electricity, etc.

Here is not there, they are not us...they have their own set of very serious problems and I'm sure internet censorship is pretty low on their list of Important Things to Worry About. They're going to try to survive and take care of their families as best they can given their current circumstances. I know would do the same, and I'll bet you and everyone else here would also.

I did read what you had said. And you are right about the Social Services. However, there economic politics will do nothing to help Egypt. Free-Market Politics have never worked. I see this as a racket to keep them in power.

Keep the economy in poor condition/or make sure wealth mostly goes to the top. Then have Social Services groups by the party keep the poor at just the bare minimum for survival, gaining their votes. While at the same time riling these people up against "enemies," like the Copts.

My dealings with Fundamentalist Christians in the past have made me bitterly cynical about any action any fundamentalist of any religion does. I assume they have bad intent.

Anger is often a default, socially acceptable (for some reason) response. Or a cover for a non-socially acceptable emotion--fear or frustration. Someone told me once that when men are frustrated, they get angry. So instead of responding to their anger, it is better to try to ask them why they are frustrated and engage a different part of the brain to communicate effectively.

Shotgun cartridges shoot a bunch of pellets or beebees which come out in a spray formation and are more likely to hit a moving, smaller target like a bird.

A single bullet is really likely to miss and if it doesn't, tear the hell out of the bird and leave nothing to eat.

One thing I didn't think of regarding the anti-sharia laws many states (10?) have passed. I always against them because I thought they were unnecessary because of the Establishment Clause. He said they coud prevent someone's Last Will and Testament wishes about how their remains are treated. A judge would be prevented from carrying out a persons wishes regarding their funeral etc. That would wrong in anyone's eyes, I would hope.

So they are not only unnecessary, but possibly unconstitutional

Ergo less likely that anybody around (that can't be seen, even) gets a severe wound, and you're less likely to wound yourself in a life-threatening way.

When you draw a bead on something, you need to think about the ramifications of missing, where's the bullet's going if it passes through the target, and whether there's anything that could get between the muzzle and the target (because you're trying to hit a moving target, or there are other people/things moving that could cross into your aim).

Sorry, I'm in & out. Doing laundry, coding, and trying to keep one eye on you guys in between.

Stories? Oh boy, do I have stories. I learned way, way more about about human nature than I ever wanted to know. But you know what? Most people are pretty decent & honest. The problem is that the assholes you run into always seem to be industrial grade ones, and it only takes one of them to cancel out the good vibes of like 10 nice people.

Then there are the crazies. Hoo, boy. The problem with them is you never realize it till they're already in the car. Usually at night. I'd usually just go along with whatever their trip was: circle the block checking for KGB agents before dropping them off at home; talking to the guy who said his neck was broken so he couldn't make any sudden moves, how he saw President Clinton get assassinated in Dallas, and how I'd better pull over to the Jack in the Box becuase HE NEEDS A SODA RIGHT NOW; it goes on and on.

Sad people, happy people, funny people, angry people, stupid people, kind people, rude people, drunk people, drugged out people (dangerous), scary people, people who want to do you harm, people cheating on their spouses, people checking up on spouses they suspect of cheating, ex-cons just coming out of prison, military people, foreign people.

I have stories..Now that I know I'm moving into my folks lakehouse this year, Thoughts and memories have been rushing in..
It's a beautiful place but no TV, phones, music was ever allowed there.. That's the way it's always been..Growing up when we went there you could fish, swim, hike or boat..But never a TV or phone was allowed there...
I recall the quiet nights we sat around the front room with my folks reading books...Those are special moments.
I am moving in my 73" HD Samsung, Broadband Internet and a phone and over the top Stereo System.. Sorry Mom and Dad..It's a different world now.

Stories? Oh boy, do I have stories. I learned way, way more about about human nature than I ever wanted to know. But you know what? Most people are pretty decent & honest. The problem is that the assholes you run into always seem to be industrial grade ones, and it only takes one of them to cancel out the good vibes of like 10 nice people.

Then there are the crazies. Hoo, boy. The problem with them is you never realize it till they're already in the car. Usually at night. I'd usually just go along with whatever their trip was: circle the block checking for KGB agents before dropping them off at home; talking to the guy who said his neck was broken so he couldn't make any sudden moves, how he saw President Clinton get assassinated in Dallas, and how I'd better pull over to the Jack in the Box becuase HE NEEDS A SODA RIGHT NOW; it goes on and on.

Sad people, happy people, funny people, angry people, stupid people, kind people, rude people, drunk people, drugged out people (dangerous), scary people, people who want to do you harm, people cheating on their spouses, people checking up on spouses they suspect of cheating, ex-cons just coming out of prison, military people, foreign people.

It's a pretty fun job, actually.

I admit I get tweaked about Mormonism for one reason. Their view on women. Essentially, a woman can only get to the highest levels of heaven if they are married. To me, that says that they think women are somehow worth less than men. With all of my friends actually being women, this pisses me off to no end.

Are there issues right now is Islam regarding women? Yes. However, at the core, the religion realizes women are humans too. Mormonism has a distinct issue with this. Along other things.

With this disposed of, let's look at the traditional religions' treatment of women, starting with prohibition for them being clerics, and continuing with all sorts of rules that are designed to make them a lower class of human beings in earthly life.

Oh, the little thing in Colombia may be a bit bigger than originally thought:

The U.S. military's top officer Martin Dempsey speaks of being "embarrassed" and tells a Pentagon news conference "we let the boss down" in relation to allegations that secret service agents habitually associated with prostitutes in Colombia. Pentagon spokesman George E. Little tells reporters that the number of military staff involved could be more than the five originally reported.

Military personnel utilizing prostitutes, why I never. When did this prostitution visiting by military personnel get started? I am no military historian but I think it has been going on FOREVER, as in since the world has had professions (as in prostitution being the oldest). Sure the guy(s) shouldn't have acted out and caused an uproar, but come on. If it was their down time then they spent it the way they saw fit. If they would have been doing it when they were suppose to be on duty that would be another story. From the info I have so far they just got caught because the working girls stayed past the hotels strict "save face with the catholics" rule (the reason I see for that rule, you can do it but don't be seen).

When the Secret Service is in a foreign country, doing advance work for a Presidential visit to a multi-national summit -- there's no such thing as "down time".

And how do we know for sure who the whores were really working for? Maybe they took pictures, maybe they were hoping to get extortion material on someone who'd have sensitive information.

It's not really about the soldiers, and if they had not been part of an advance team for the president the military would indeed have likely looked the other way. But they were part of the president's advance team, and letting a prostitute into the same rooms they use to process intel puts the president at risk, as intelligence services and criminal gangs have often used prostitutes as spies or bug planters.

Sounds like a veiled threat to attack the POTUS -- if Obama wins, Teddy will go after him ... unsuccessfully ... and end up either dead or in jail as a result.
