About My Twitter List…

Yeah, that one; the one that’s part of the plot to send right-wingers to a #TwitterGulag
Wingnuts • Views: 24,118

In case you missed it, I’ve already explained its purpose here, here, here, and here. If you thought I was going to launch into a full-fledged effort to defend myself from further unhinged accusations being made by wingnut conspiracy theorists and shit-stirrers, sorry to disappoint—it’s not going to happen.

I will say this though: The people on the far-right who participate in these pile-ons seem to have been well trained in offensive tactics. They stay in attack mode 24/7—even when they’re defending they’re attacking. They do it because it’s effective.

Why is it effective? It’s effective because once an opponent has gone into a defensive crouch and begun trying to reason and/or give extensive, repeated explanations in an attempt to defend him/herself, the position being fought from automatically becomes one of weakness. Everything will simply be refuted with specious ‘facts’ and attacked ad nauseam. Today it’s the #TwitterGulag, next week—tomorrow even—it’ll be some other manufactured outrage.

With that in mind, to those who continue to wave around my long publicly available Twitter block list as if they’ve discovered some secret smoking gun that provides incontrovertible proof of a vast, left-wing conspiracy orchestrated by evil genius Charles Johnson: Feel free to continue twisting in the wind, spewing for all you’re worth. I’ll begin worrying about what you say on the same day your opinions begin to have a significant impact on my day-to-day enjoyment of life. Today is not that day.

Now if you’ll excuse me, the sun has risen on yet another beautiful spring day here, so I’m going to put this asinine subject out of my mind, grab my camera, and go revel in the Garden State’s blossoming glory. It’ll be the perfect brain bleach. ;)

They're trying to contrive a conspiracy built on these lists. Thinking that they are being used to "block and report as spam" on Twitter. Of course this is not the case since they are only recommended for LGF users who use Tweetdeck and to add to the "global filter."

Twitter isn't supposed to be a place where you have to endure harassment. You have tools to fight against it.

Isn't it amazing that the people who seem so scared and full of hatred for Saul Alinsky are so adept at using his methods of ridicule and isolation?

They're scared by him because they've whipped themselves up into believing that his methods are almost Satanically effective (shades of the way Machiavelli was seen during the later Renaissance, or Sun Tzu during the 1980s when every American businessman seemed to believe that every Japanese businessman never made a move without consulting a two-thousand-year-old musing on war by a Chinese general), and therefore they're trying to reap the same obvious powers Alinsky conferred on his followers by reading the books themselves, and doing what they find within.

I don't mind. It's a nice little bit of income for whoever inherited the Alinsky estate, who surely never thought that Dad's stuff would be relevent again.

Fischer quotes MLK to justify discrimination against homosexuals

Citing King's line that he dreamed that one day his children would "live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character," Fischer argued that discrimination based on behavior is justified and absolutely appropriate ... and, as such, "you begin to see the implications when it comes to homosexuality because you're dealing there with issues of content of character and you are dealing with issues of behavior and conduct and it's perfectly appropriate to discriminate against immoral conduct":

If twitter accounts show up in my stream and I punch out to the account and find one of three conditions, then I will block and report spam:

1. It's a bot account (like the red scare bot, fight club bot, etc. and isn't a real person.)
2. It was registered today and just seems to be spewing a single link with a standard phrase, and has no followers, and is following none or few. I avoid clicking that link cause I know it's going to take me to an Iphone ad, or a phishing site or something similar.
3. The account is impersonating another person or user name.

If I just don't like you or the garbage you are spewing, then I just block, no spam report. Everyone blocked or reported ends up in global filter, cause I just don't have time in my life for that kiddie crap anymore.

Entire Observable Universe Modeled Using French Supercomputer

The entire history of the observable universe, all 13.7 billion years of it, has been for the first time successfully modeled by six scientists using a French supercomputer.

Called the Dark Energy Universe Simulation (DEUS): full universe run, the historic supercomputer simulation created and tracked 550 billion particles, each the mass of our own Milky Way galaxy or greater, that were thought to be created in the Big Bang — the seminal expansive event that scientists believe birthed all matter into existence — to the present day.

The simulation was run over a two-week period in mid-March on the CURIE supercomputer housed at the Très Grand Centre de Calcul (Very Large Computing Center) in Bruyères-le-Châtel, a commune in Northern France. Recently upgraded to run at 2 petaflops, CURIE is now among the fastest supercomputers in the world.

On a side note, I basically see there as being two basic kinds of anarchists. One is the utopian kind that thinks we can breakdown the existing systems and build a loose but thriving and peaceful "society" to replace it. The other is the black bloc type, which just seem to be interested in an excuse to cause destruction, mayhem, and suffering because they think it's cool or something. Basically, one group is made up of hippies and the other is made up of sociopaths.

80 NJDhockeyfan  Tue, May 1, 2012 10:16:42am

About those 5 anarchists arrested today:

The Federal Bureau of Investigation arrested five suspects in the Cleveland area in a sting operation for allegedly plotting a bomb attack on a local bridge, law enforcement officials said Tuesday.

The five men are self-described anarchists who had formed their own group, according to one official. The official said that during the investigation, several of the suspects repeatedly complained that the Occupy Wall Street movement, which had spread to other cities from New York, wasn't violent enough.

...According to an affidavit filed by FBI agent Ryan Taylor, the group was infiltrated by a paid informant. Over the course of several months, its members discussed in recorded conversations a number of potential targets, including a train, a federal counterterrorism center and a neo-Nazi or Ku Klux Klan office.

One of the suspects allegedly envisioned using smoke grenades as a distraction to topple financial-institution signs on high-rise buildings in downtown Cleveland, according to court papers.

Not violent enough? How violent do they want the OWS protesters to get?

Yep, that's what I do too, with one addition - if the account is a stalker account. For example, the morons who've registered multiple accounts with variations on Gus_802.

What's the total count on that so far?

Since some people are into rehashing old stuff today, I'll reiterate the obvious too: fuck the black bloc/violent anarchists. Fuck various CT mongers. And fuck the fat cats who swim in tens of millions in bailout bonuses, laughing while the world burns.

This is for you.

While I know this is likely just going to be an unanswered prayer into the vast ether, can we all agree to try and remain civil today, regardless of what happens? The last thing I want to slog through today is a repeat of the OWS threads.

No. OCCUPY FRONT PAGE !!!!!

Yes, because we Americans have such a long history of giving blacks all the advantages possible and helping them advance in society.

About those 5 anarchists arrested today:

Not violent enough? How violent do they want the OWS protesters to get?

See, these people fall into the second category I described. Very much in the second.

They want riots and violent revolution. Small scale wresting with cops and vandalism just wasn't enough.

re: #80 NJDhockeyfan

The OWS was largely nonviolent. Considering the thousands of people who particpated in the marches, protests, and the Zuccotti Park stay, the crimes alleged are minor. What the anarchists are hoping for are lots of broken windows, vandalism, arsons and the kinds of things we expect to see during the various G8 summits - particularly over in Europe.

Thing is - most of those participating in OWS aren't anarchists. They are protesters. Big difference.

Oh, and while we're on the subject of protests - I got to walk around Lower Manhattan a short time ago - and while there's a significant police presence, and the metal barricades are everywhere, there's nary a protester to be seen. One actually. He was sitting on the Federal Hall steps pen for protesters. All the action is uptown, though that's going to change this afternoon/evening....

Phyllis Chesler said the same thing a while back. She has a cunning plan to get rid of Obama by running a black woman for president.

(You have to imagine that in the silence following this statement I am doing an interpretive modern dance that incorporates my respect for Phyllis Chesler as a second-wave Jewish feminist mother, my appreciation for, and acceptance of the limits of, "The New Antisemitism", my increasing distress about her increasing wingnuttiness and consortion with wingnuts, and my anger at feminist academia for driving her to the arms of Pajamas Media. Whatever they're doing isn't discomfiting Wall Street much. The Dow peaked at mid-2007 levels s bit ago.

And yes, I recall that there were at least one or two alleged sexual assaults (by someone who wasn't an OWSer IIRC) and several other physical altercations). But this isn't the violence that the anarchists wanted to see. They wanted mayhem - not drum circles, which is what they got.

Obama Defends Attack On Romney: ‘I Assumed’ He Meant It When He Said He Wouldn’t Get Bin Laden

OBAMA: As far as my personal role and what other folks would do, I just recommend that everybody take a look at people’s previous statements in terms of whether they thought it was appropriate to go into Pakistan and take out bin Laden. I assumed that people meant what they said when they said it, that’s been at least my practice. I said that we’d go after bin Laden if we had a clear shot at him and I did. If there are others who have said one thing and now suggested they’d do something else, then I’d go ahead and let them explain it.

The problem is that the NY OWS general Assembly voted to tolerate the Anarchist's violent tactics under the guise of accepting "diversity"
Leaked NYPD document shows police plans for 'May Day'
So even though the majority of protesters may be non violent they are accepting the presence of the violent protesters among them.

re: #97 Decatur Deb

No, the stock markets are doing quite well and aren't exactly paying attention to the OWSers or protesters outside.

Too much good news on the economic front to care about the protests. GM, Chrysler, and Ford are all showing improving economic conditions. Thomson Reuters posted big gains. Ditto for Exxon and GE. The broader market is showing signs of recovery, and here's something that is likely lost on the right wing.

The economy grew 2.2% in the first quarter, and personal consumption was up closer to 3%. What brought things down was a reduction in governmental spending - including defense spending. That's why the overall number fell short of the economists' expectations.

2.2% is nothing to sneeze at and while it isn't gangbusters growth - steady growth along these lines is what the economy really needs. It doesn't need artificial growth.

Oklahoma Supreme Court: Personhood Is ‘Clearly Unconstitutional’

the Supreme Court held that states may enact some abortion regulations, but they may not “strike at the right itself” to terminate a pregnancy. A law redefining embryos as people is thus a direct attack on women’s constitutional right to choose.

Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates called the raid against Osama bin Laden a "gutsy call" -- "one of the most courageous" he's seen a president make -- because the U.S. had only circumstantial evidence indicating the Al Qaeda leader was at the compound in Pakistan.

"I had real reservations about the intelligence," Gates, who earlier led the Central Intelligence Agency, said. "But it was the best information we had since probably 2001."

Damning with faint praise or unintentionally ironic? As I recall, at least some of the most well-known intel after 2001 was infamously unreliable.

A fairly interesting take here on the left-wing praise of Obama for the Bin Laden take down here:

[Link: www.salon.com...]

I agree with most of it, but in response I'd say that while some of Obama's policies are more troubling for me than praise-worthy, trying to paint him as a "warrior" presidential tough guy is just politics as usual, and while the Dems are pandering to independents with a hawkish rhetoric, I'll take a Dem president calling the shots over a Repub president any day of the week. Last thing we need is another fucking cowboy in the Oval Office.
