As Newt Gingrich finally pulls the plug on his absurd presidential run, the Obama campaign takes this opportunity to remind us about some of the things Gingrich has said about his rival Mitt Romney.

I'm eagerly waiting to see how Fox newsfiction manages to generate an article rallying its posters into frenzied Fake Outrage against Obama about this latest ad, as they have about everything else Obama does.
They've already posted a "news" article today whose headline is, "Obama Suffers From Early Onset Romney Derangement Syndrome."

Time to shake the etch a sketch.
I prefer to think of it as Mitt Romney hosing the primary campaign (bull)shit off of his campaign. Of course, he won't actually change anything of substance, so the campaign will soon be covered in more (bull)shit by those of us terrified that our country is tied to these maroons.

Wouldn't surprise me if we saw Santorum in a future ad too.

Is there a -11 number we can call for cleanup?

Well this didn't take long. Several Lizards here predicted that the Obama campaign would use just this type of tactic to go after Mitt.

I think Obama will show Romney for the empty suit he is.

Epic in the sense of Lincoln/Douglas, Nixon/Kennedy and Carter/Reagan.

"Are you calling Mitt Romney a liar?""Yes."
LOL. I love the look on Gingrich's face and the short pause before he answers. He knows he can't take it back, and that the second he said it this was destined for an Obama ad, but he was so pissed at that point and it's such an obvious, self-evident truth that he simply couldn't hold it in.

The GOP pretenders like Newt, Luap, and "Sanitorium" saved the Obama campaign millions of dollars by providing content like this for the President's campaign ads. The bloodletting, cannnibalism, and fratricide have handicapped Romney in many ways, this being one of them.
13 | allegro Wed, May 2, 2012 1:13:25pm |
That is brilliant. Obama doesn't need to say a word. Let them speak for themselves and show the ugly truth.
14 | Obdicut Wed, May 2, 2012 1:14:25pm |
Romney can try to hit back with excerpts from Hillary ads, but most of what she said was that he was inexperienced. That's not really going to work this time around.

If I were one of Obama's speech writers, I'd already be working on a bunch of Romney jokes. Even better have Obama bring an actual Etch a Sketch on stage.

Or better yet hand out mini etch a sketchs at campaign events.

Someone needs to make a teleprompter vs etch a sketch debate video.

That strikes me too much like the "purple heart bandaids" back in '04, a sort of childish way of attacking Romney. Best to instead just keep pumping out ads like this, destroying Romney and the GOP with their own words, then responding to their frothing by making them defend or retract those same words.

Yeah you're right. Plus it's immature like the teleprompter jokes. They should however hit Romney on all the things he's flopped on.

I predicted in April of last year that the GOP would form a circular firing squad. Now we (Republicans) are going to have to deal with it.
21 | Targetpractice Wed, May 2, 2012 1:21:52pm |
I've said for awhile now that Obama's best bet for running his campaign this year was just to set it up so that Romney runs against himself. The man's only other option is try to run on the GOP's past glory, which is a loser in the long run.

Gingrich did not endorse Romney during his speech, but is expected to sometime in the near future, as the presumed GOP nominee has vowed to help Gingrich retire his campaign debt.
The Obama campaign's timing really couldn't be any better. Everyone knows the two men hate each other and this ad just made whatever behind the scenes negotiations are going on between Gingrich and Romney's campaign that much more awkward. Now Romney's campaign is going to have to require a public retraction of the liar comments and a possible formal apology.
Kneel before ZOD, fucker!

Abstinence leads to the best sex. Two people with zero outside social context will invent by themselves every (moral!) pleasurable sexual activity that has ever existed.
This, you see, makes sense.

I think this is largely why Santorum has chosen, instead of outright endorsing Romney, telling his supporters (paraphrasing) to vote their conscience at the polls.

Imagine Santorum's gearing up for another run in 2016 too.
