Far Right AZ Neo-Nazi Commits Mass Murder, Wingnut Bloggers Immediately Paint Him as a Left Winger

If ever a hateful scumbag was associated with the right wing, it was J.T. Ready
Crime • Views: 38,646

Yesterday in suburban Phoenix, J.T. Ready, the most well-known neo-Nazi in the state of Arizona, massacred four members of his family including a 15-month old baby girl, then killed himself.

Now anti-immigrant Arizona Republican leader Russell Pearce is desperately trying to distance himself from J.T. Ready.

As Russell Pearce’s power in Arizona politics grew over the years, so too did questions about his past friendship with a man who went on to become the most vocal neo Nazi in the state.

So when that neo Nazi reportedly massacred four people in a suburban Phoenix home before turning the gun on himself on Wednesday, reporters naturally turned to the former state Senate president and primary sponsor of Arizona’s tough immigration law to comment on the killings.

After resisting for hours, Pearce relented late in the day and released a lengthy statement detailing how he came to know JT Ready and what eventually led to their falling out. Multiple media outlets in Arizona posted the statement in whole.

Pearce said he, like others in the Phoenix suburb of Mesa, got to know Ready for his interest in Republican politics.

“When we first met JT he was fresh out of the Marine Corp and seemed like a decent person,” Pearce wrote. “He worked as a telephone fundraiser for Christian and pro-life groups, he dated the daughter of one of our District 18 members, and his attitudes and spoken opinions were good and decent.”

According to the Phoenix New Times, Pearce became a mentor to Ready. The powerful lawmaker helped the young man convert to the Mormon religion and he was there for Ready’s first baptism.

But J.T. Ready’s long history of associations with Republicans, right wing political activism, organization of a border militia, and involvement with the Tea Party means nothing to the Internet’s dumbest (and possibly most dishonest) man, Jim Hoft.

Hoft is busy trying to tie J.T. Ready to … wait for it … the Occupy movement.

Horror!… Neo-Nazi #Occupy Phoenix Protester Goes on Shooting Rampage - 5 Dead | the Gateway Pundit

Back in October we reported that Neo-Nazi Jason Todd Ready was patrolling the #Occupy Phoenix camp with AR-15′s.

Neo-Nazi Jason Todd (J.T.) Ready pictured on left patrolling the Occupy Phoenix protest and on right at Southern Poverty Law Center website.

Of course, since this was not a tea party rally the story was never picked up by the liberal media.

Good grief. This must be the most desperate and dishonest attempt at spinning away a killer’s right wing connections I’ve seen yet.

UPDATE at 5/3/12 11:38:57 am

Hoft updates the post in his inimitable fashion:

More… It looks like poor unhinged Charles Johnson jumped the gun on this one. JT wasn’t a rightwinger after all, huh Chuck? Hopefully Mr. Johnson will be honest enough to post an update with corrections.

To say that J.T. Ready “wasn’t a right winger” is absolutely ludicrous — and Jim Hoft knows that. Ready spent his entire adult life involved in right wing causes and Republican activism. He was a fundraiser for Christian and pro-life groups, and was a Maricopa County GOP precinct committeeman until being expelled for handing out antisemitic and racist literature at an event in 2008.

He showed up at one Occupy rally to grab some publicity for his extreme right wing border militia group. And in one of his last acts, Ready ran for sheriff as a Democrat because he had been shunned by the Republican Party (he was an overt neo-Nazi, after all), and because (in his own words) he liked the old-style racist Democratic Party of the Jim Crow days.

This is definitely not anyone’s idea of a “left wing Occupy supporter.”

Hoft isn’t trying to be honest or accurate, he’s just lying outright.

This should give some context to the Republican political veteran Pearce's denials:

[Link: www.bizjournals.com...]

State Rep. Russell Pearce, R-Mesa, recently sent out an e-mail that contained an article produced by the National Alliance, a neo-Nazi group known for its anti-Semitic views.
Scottsdale Congressman J.D. Hayworth has withdrawn his backing for the controversial Republican state lawmaker, while Pearce's Democratic opponent Tammie Pursley is calling for his resignation.
In recent weeks, Pearce has also called for mass deportations of illegal immigrants, specifically referring to a 1950s era program called 'Operation Wetback.'
Hayworth, a Republican in a tough reelection battle in a Scottsdale/Tempe congressional district, put out a statement Tuesday on the Pearce matter.
"Given the regrettable and disturbing nature of the e-mail Russell Pearce circulated earlier today, I cannot in good conscience lend my endorsement to his candidacy for state representative. While Russell has issued an apology for his e-mail, I nonetheless will not be associated with any communication that contains anti-Semetic remarks," stated Hayworth.
Pearce apologized for the email, telling other Phoenix area media outlets it was mistake and he did not read the entire article before sending it to supporters.

[...]

The article Pearce sent out and then apologized for talks about Jewish control of the news media and the media's bias against whites, while favoring minorities and Israel.

So, his connections to the former Republican Senate President in AZ whom was also sponsor of that immigration bill mean nothing. Oh and he was at Tea Parties too. I think Ready went to as I said both movements because he thought he'd find sympathetic voices. Hoft should stop it with this No true Scotsman crap. Ready was a right winger. It doesn't mean all right wingers are Neo-Nazis. Typical right wing reaction to a tragedy. The jerks did it with Loughner too.

re: #2 May Day! May Day!

Then there's this connection:

Yesterday, at the Supreme Court, the federal government battled it out with Arizona over the latter’s controversial anti-immigrant law, SB 1070. As you recall, SB 1070 was drafted largely by informal Romney advisor and notoriously anti-immigrant, Kris Kobach — who also holds connections to the shady Tanton network. The bill was also sponsored in the Arizona legislature by former state Senator Russell Pearce (“former” because Pearce lost his seat in a recall election last November due to the SB 1070 backlash.) Both of them, as expected, made an appearance at the Supreme Court yesterday, and my fearless colleague, Maria, got them both on camera:

When Valley Neo-Nazi J.T. Ready Converted to Mormonism, Guess Which Prominent Politico Ordained Him an "Elder"

It begins with denials, repeated over time, by state Arizona Senate President-elect Russell Pearce concerning his association with the Valley's best-known neo-Nazi, J.T. Ready.

Approached by an activist at a 2008 candidate forum during the Republican primary for the hotly contested state Senate seat in Legislative District 18, Pearce was asked point-blank if he was pals with the Mesa swastika-licker.

It was a relationship I'd exposed in my Feathered Bastard blog in June 2007 with photos of Pearce and Ready working a nativist rally at the state Capitol together ("Triumph of the Swill," June 18)...

Portrait of a Baptism: J.T. Ready is center, front row; ex-state Senator Karen Johnson clasps Ready's arm, while state Senate President-elect Russell Pearce, top row, fourth from right, smiles for the camera.

Hoft's Occupy Phoenix Neo-Nazi Previously Attended Tea Party Rallies

...Ready previously attended and reportedly spoke at Tea Party rallies.

- In July 2009, Phoenix New Times reported that according to multiple sources, Ready spoke at a July 4 Tea Party rally at the Arizona state capitol.
- In November 2009, PNT reported that Ready had attended "a recent anti-amnesty tea party" on the capitol lawn.
- In April 2010, PNT reported that Ready had organized a "recent tea party protest" at Wells Fargo's Phoenix headquarters. Then-Senate candidate and Tea Party favorite J.D. Hayworth reportedly spoke at the event.

Arizona Republican Party Endorses Protect Arizona Now Initiative by 3-1 Margin
By Dennis Durband, Editor - 2008
Arizona Conservative

...State and national Republican leadership is opposed to the Protect Arizona Now initiative. But virtually all the polling on the issue (by GOPUSA/Arizona, KAET-TV, ProjectUSA, News/Insight, and FrontPage Magazine) indicates support levels of 85 percent or higher. It’s a story of disconnect between party leadership and citizens.

Among those speaking in favor of the resolution were PAN senior advisers Randy Graf and Russell Pearce, both conservative members of the Arizona House of Representatives, District 18 House candidate J.T. Ready, Joseph Sweeny of Eloy and State Rep. Karen Johnson...

After dining at a Tea Party event on Tuesday, former Arizona state Senate President Russell Pearce proclaimed his support for Romney, citing similar views on immigration as his key reason.

"His immigration policy is identical to mine," Pearce said, according to The Washington Post. "Attrition by enforcement. It's identical to mine -- enforce the laws."

Reported Neo-Nazi Spree Killer Called SB 1070 Sponsor Russell Pearce His ‘Surrogate Father’

Ready’s beliefs were extreme even among extremists. In 2007, for example, he wrote that illegal immigration occurs because “negroids screw monkeys and rape babies in afreaka [sic]. Then stupid white man who licks kosher jew rear lets negroids in.” Yet Ready traveled surprisingly close to the center of power in his state. Ready claims he was a protégé to former Arizona state Sen. Russell Pearce (R), the author of Arizona’s harsh immigration law who was recently removed from office in a recall election, and there is ample documentation that the two men knew each other and that Pearce once supported Ready politically.

Pearce and Ready’s relationship stretches back at least to 2004, when Pearce ordained Ready as an elder in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. By 2006, when Ready ran for Mesa City Council — a campaign that sputtered after the public learned that Ready was once court-martialed and kicked out of the Marine Corps — he received Pearce’s endorsement. Ready also claims that he was with Pearce’s son Josh when Josh Pearce got a tattoo of an iron eagle with a swastika on his neck and chest, but that he also talked Josh out of joining a skinhead group.

Pearce later tried to distance himself from Ready, but Ready insisted as recently as last year that Pearce was a seminal figure in his life. In an interview with a local Fox station, Ready called Pearce “a surrogate father” who “enlightened him,” that they spent time together at Pearce’s cabin, and that they were “around each other quite a bit.” In the same local news segment, Pearce admits that he had an association with Ready, but denies that it was as close as Ready suggests. Watch it:

Analogy time.

Say you happen to have a video of the OWS at Zuccotti Park.

The vidoe pans back and forth around the crowd and then you see me out there in and among the crowd (and for those that aren't all that familiar - I work a few blocks from the park and was down there taking photos and reporting on what I saw at the encampment on a regular basis).

Does that make me an OWS protester? Not exactly.

Could someone infer I was an OWS member just because I showed up? Possibly. But showing up where the cameras were and actually supporting OWS were two separate things.

Fact is that I was there to report on the events. Doesn't make me a supporter.

But as someone who covered the OWS, I saw plenty of people - freaks and otherwise - who came out because the cameras were there to garner attention for their own particular issues.

Hoft doesn't care. About any of it.

They see the "Occupy" rallies as recruiting grounds. Ernest Hancock said that to Adam Kokesh in a recent video of his.

Interesting. So J.T. Ready was NOT supporting the Occupy protest at all. He was counter-protesting.

As an immigrant myself, I often wonder how much bullshit and prejudice I've been spared by having white skin and virtually no accent.

I had to go to an immigration office the other day to have my biometrics done and as I was sitting there I looked at all the other people around me. I saw people from Europe (chatted with a Swedish lady in the elevator on the way up), Asia, South America and Africa.

The vast majority come to America to accomplish the same thing: Become a hard working, productive member of society and make the country better.

I have not been without a job since I was able to work here. Sure they haven't been glamorous, I had to take a minimum wage job last year to keep the bills paid, but I've busted my ass the whole way through.

When it comes down to it, I have more in common with those people in that office than a lot of folks think I do. I may not be dark skinned and speak primarily in a separate language, but I AM an immigrant. All I ask is to be treated the same as everyone else.

I do not deserve hate thrown at me simply because I chose to come to this country.

I could have walked past a guy like JT ready on the street and he wouldn't have FLINCHED. Had I had dark skin, a mustache and was speaking Spanish...well, you get the idea.

The bottom line is: Don't judge people based on the way they look. Don't assume you know who someone is or where they are from because of the way they speak and treat EVERYONE the way you want to be treated.

Pearce has also had a long-term association with neo-Nazi Jason T. (J.T.) Ready, which began in the mid-2000s when Ready emerged as a conservative Republican and an outspoken proponent of Protect Arizona Now (PAN), the first anti-immigration legislation in Arizona. The PAN legislation, which required individuals to produce proof of citizenship before they could register to vote or apply for public benefits, was drafted by Pearce. Pearce continued to associate with Ready even after the Anti-Defamation League office informed Pearce in 2006 that Ready had become a neo-Nazi.

Pearce even shared the podium with Ready during an anti-immigration protest at the Arizona State Capitol in June 2007 after Ready was "outed" as a neo-Nazi by a local newspaper. Pearce claimed that he did not know about Ready's extremist views. He has since cut his ties to Ready.

Before he became an open neo-Nazi, Ready ran for a series of offices in Arizona and succeeded in 2006 in securing the position of Maricopa County Republican precinct committeeman. Heather Morton, a former employee, said J.T. Ready had worked at a nearby auto shop, met the Mederos sisters while dining at the restaurant where they worked and became involved with their mother. She said Ready moved into the family residence but was so "cruel and controlling" that Amber Mederos moved out a few months ago with her daughter and fiance.

Morton said Ready tried to boss the girls and criticized Amber's baby for being half Hispanic. "He said, 'She's 50 percent ugly,' that's how he described her," she added.

And eagles eat salmon from the rivers. And bears eat salmon from the river. And the Russians used bears as a symbol. And I don't like salmon. And Franklin wanted our national symbol to be the turkey.

Um. I've gotten lost. Can someone dig me out?

California uses a bear on its flag - therefore liberal commie state.

Did that get you unstuck?

Pork. They all liked pork.

Man. Bear. Pig.

You can see Russia from California, so bear/bear makes sense.

What is this #julia meme that all the rwnj's are tweeting back and forth? I tried Googling it but just get more bad craziness.

Never mind, it's an infographic on the Obama election site.

"Julia" was the pseudonym for Obama's girlfriend in his autobiography; it was actually a "composite character," and the book says so very clearly. The right wing blogs are trying like hell to make a big deal of it.

Actually, it's this.

"Back in October we reported that Neo-Nazi Jason Todd Ready was patrolling the #Occupy Phoenix camp with AR-15′s."

My reading comprehension must be off. How can you spin someone patrolling Occupy Phoenix as an Occupy supporter?

They're saying he was there as security.

My question is, did they actually report this in October, and did they denounce him as a Neo-Nazi at the time?

A moebius strip has nothing on Buck for his ability to twist things upon themselves in heretofore unseen conjugations.

re: #48 May Day! May Day!

The Occupy clip was shot by a Paulbot. Paulbots are on the right.

It consisted of the usual paleoright-Paul-Alex Jones exchange about 2nd amdt, silver coins and such. Even the clip shows him to be within the modern American conservatism.

If you look at Dim Hoft's post from last year, most of Hoft's (conservative) commenters are agreeing with Ready and don't see anything wrong with him.

Yes. They apparently did.

re: #159 SanFranciscoZionist

Yes. They apparently did.

It's quite intriguing. I can't imagine them disagreeing with anything Ready says in the video normally, but they appear to have been willing to ID him (correctly) as a Nazi simply because he showed up at Occupy.

163 Gus  Thu, May 3, 2012 1:39:20pm

You know. One would have to be a complete blithering idiot to think that J.D. Ready was a left winger let alone an "occupy movement member."

165 CuriousLurker  Thu, May 3, 2012 1:54:28pm

You know what? I'm sick of pearl-clutching, wingnut fundies telling trying to shove their ideas about what they think God wants down everyone's throat while simultaneously squealing about how oppressed they are. I didn't sign up to live in your dystopian, science-denying, ass-backwards version of the Theocratic States of Saudi America, and I'm not going to.

You know what else I'm sick of? Lying, posturing, punk-ass haters who talk shit and stalk & harass people that have never done them any harm, then when they get push back they start whining like little prima donnas. Who the hell do they think they're fooling with that bullshit?

Let's see, who else? Oh yeah, the shit-stirring, bottom-feeding bloggers who spend their days backbiting & creating as much strife between Americans as they can, all while holding themselves up as patriots, paragons of virtue, warriors defending defending the republic and its constitution. Those assholes wouldn't recognize, truth, honor or personal integrity if it jumped up and bit them in the ass.

Last but not least are the unregenerate, racist scum and xenophobic bigots who've convinced themselves that they're the most highly evolved, intelligent life form on the planet. Yeah, the same people that go around murdering innocents, just like the terrorist scum they purport to be superior to, and who—if they don't end their own pathetic lives or commit suicide by cop—get arrested, and when you see their mugshots always look like extras from the cast of Deliverance. The greedy, black-hearted, opportunistic politicians that get in bed with them are even worse, because they do it purely for political & monetary gain

Yes, I'm in a piss poor mood today. And it's only May. We still have 6 more months until the elections, and my tolerance threshold for this bullshit it currently zero. I don't know how much more of it I can stand, so if you don't see me around much, it's because I'm staying in lurk mode or stepping away completely for a few days for a mental health break. It's the only way I can maintain even a modicum of rational perspective.

This is not a flounce, it's just an explanation as to why I may seem a bit unsociable going forward. I love you guys and don't want to be a bag of downers for everyone just because I'm bent out of shape about something.

//Rant over. For now.

New thread. More wingnuttery. Time to go make some granola. //

Seriously, that was right on point; no one here's gonna take that as a flounce, just you venting on the RWNJs who attack Charles, LGF, and us (and who attack you specifically).

Right on and solid, C_L; that was definitely a righteous rant.

re: #168 ArthurSlugworth

You know, I don't really care what people say about me. I'm an adult and have dealt with far worse things than any inane turd blossoms the wingnuts fling at me. I'm pretty sure CJ and the rest of you are quite capable of managing as well.

It's the lying, sneakiness, intellectual dishonesty, and utter lack of personal integrity that get to me. The VAST majority of the people acting like this were raised by decent parents who taught them right form wrong at an early age, yet look at how they behave. In public. They're sell outs. They've sold their honor. In some cases for power or financial gain, in others just to satisfy some ongoing, puerile feeling of betrayal. Deep down inside they know it, yet they persist in trying to justify their abhorrent behavior.

If it was just the idiot stalkers & bloggers I wouldn't think about it twice, but it's the politicians and outfits like Fox News too. They're poisoning our country with hatred & fear of manufactured threats. That's unconscionable because it's affecting real people's lives, it's hurting people and that's not right. THAT makes me angry.

171 Egregious Philbin  Thu, May 3, 2012 10:48:16pm

I have a friend who JT threatened to kill, JT was a scary, crazy nutcase. Pearce is a scary, crazy nutcase. Pearce's supporters are 10X worse.

Glad JT is dead.

One the one hand, I'm appalled at the audacity of Hoft's lies. On the other hand, I'm always appalled at the audacity of conservatives' lies.
