Breitbart Editor John Nolte Calls for Right Wing ‘Twitter War’

Or he’ll call for you to be murdered
Wingnuts • Views: 34,837

breitbart.com editor John Nolte is calling for right wingers to harass, stalk, and bully liberals on Twitter, and in typical Breitbart megalomaniac fashion, Nolte calls this “The Battle for America on Twitter.”

I think it’s a great idea for wingnuts like Nolte to get out there in public and show the world exactly how they think. For example, this tweet from last November, in which Nolte calls for teachers to be “murdered:”

And that’s not the only time Nolte has publicly indulged his penchant for violent fantasies. In April of this year, Nolte wrote an article for breitbart.com in which he called for the mother of a child shown on HBO to be murdered, then tried to delete it and cover it up when he realized he had crossed a big red line: Breitbart Editor John Nolte About HBO ‘Stage Mom:’ ‘She Should Be Murdered’.

This is what people like John Nolte and the Breitbrats think of as “the battle for America” — hate speech, harassment, and outright calls for their targets to be murdered.

OT:

Catholic College decides to drop student health care coverage rather than comply with Affordable Care Act.

The Franciscan University of Steubenville, a small Catholic college in Ohio, announced Tuesday that it will drop coverage for students entirely rather than "violate the consistent teachings of the Catholic Church on the sacredness of human life," Reuters reported. The change will affect 200 out of the school's 2,500 students, although with its overwhelmingly Catholic student body—the university has been called "The Most Catholic University in the World"—the Franciscan University would likely fall into the category of exempt employers. Some other Catholic and evangelical schools are suing over the mandate and have threatened to drop health coverage. (It's possible that the Supreme Court will announce next month that it has struck down the health care law altogether, which would make such suits unnecessary.)

If we have to play nice than we won't play at all!

I bet you could make a violent movie where some twisted jesus loving white guy goes on a rampage killing "liberals" and make a fortune with it.

some on the right seem to REALLY love these fantasies.

That's because the Iranian Twitter protesters faced actual government threats of harm.

I am so glad I don't have twitter or facebook accounts. This fighting by both sides is elementary school level bullshit.

I have both FB and Twitter. My FB page rarely, if ever, has political content on it since my real life friends and family are on there and I use it primarily to share my life with them and keep up with their lives.

I'm still not sure what to do with Twitter. I used it to post Pages and got a bunch of pathetic, obsessed freaks whose only reason for living is whacking off to a site they got banned from trying to harass me. I then retooled my posting, limiting it to stuff that interests me on a professional level and got spambots and Twitter chain accounts following me for my efforts. These days, I might post a few random things here and there, but I barely use it at all now.

I'm simply not interested in reliving high school. That was over 20 years ago for me, so the constant sniping and bitching just isn't appealing at all. I don't know what I'll do with it. Maybe just stick to dealing with the spambots and chain accounts and posting the stuff I find interesting. I'm just not interested in a two-way conversation on Twitter unless it's people I know.

OK, translation (not mine):

A page from the history of humanity

At the cinema, on a bench therein
The local idiot met the resident cretin.
Local idiot! – says resident cretin –
Let’s go for a movie, I’m begging.

The local idiot replied – With pleasure,
As I love you beyond any measure.

The cretin gave the sweetest smile he got
And went for a movie with the local idiot.

To pleasant pawing they devoted some time
Which made the local idiot feel very fine.

Finally she whispered: – resident cretin!
The movie is getting more and more thin.

So out they went and some wine they bought,
The local cretin with the resident idiot.

Later in a sensual embrace they clashed in
The local idiot with the resident cretin.

The offspring is more likely than not:
A male cretin or a female idiot.

Which will allow in future for another meeting
Of the local idiot with the resident cretin.

Report: Texas Executed The Wrong Man Because He Looked Like The Real Murderer

A new book written by Columbia Law Professor James Liebman shows that Carlos DeLuna, executed by Texas in 1989, was innocent. According to Liebman, DeLuna was wrongfully convicted and executed for the murder of Wanda Lopez following a botched investigation. DeLuna and the man believed to have committed the murder, Carlos Hernandez, looked so much alike that they were mistaken for each other in photographs by family members. However, DeLuna, who was clean-shaven and wearing a white shirt, did not fit the description of the eyewitness who said that the murderer was wearing flannel and had a mustache. Police arrested DeLuna anyway and failed to do a formal lineup. Police also failed to formally examine the crime scene, ignoring foot and fingerprints, not taking blood samples, and allowing the scene to be cleaned by gas station employees.

Not only did DeLuna maintain his innocence throughout the investigation and his subsequent incarceration, he told investigators that he knew Hernandez had committed the crime. DeLuna was ignored, and during his trial prosecutors ridiculed his claim:

They told the jury that police had looked for a “Carlos Hernandez” after his name had been passed to them by DeLuna’s lawyers, without success. They had concluded that Hernandez was a fabrication, a “phantom” who simply did not exist. The chief prosecutor said in summing up that Hernandez was a “figment of DeLuna’s imagination”. …

By the end of [a] single day the investigator had uncovered evidence that had eluded scores of Texan police officers, prosecutors, defense lawyers and judges over the six years between DeLuna’s arrest and execution. Carlos Hernandez did indeed exist.[…]

Beware of zionist spy birds with big nostrils!

Turkey suspects bird of being Israeli spy

Turkish authorities believe that they have found a bird used for espionage purposes by Israel, the country's media reported.

According to a Tuesday report in Yedioth Ahronoth, an investigation to that effect was launched in Ankara several days ago, after a farmer discovered a dead Merops Apiaster, commonly known as the European Bee-Eater, in his field. The bird had a ring reading "Israel" on one of its legs.

Bird-banding is a common practice in ornithology, meant to help scientists track bird migration routes.

The band, however, was not the most damning piece of evidence against the bee-eater: Its nostrils were.

The bird-beak in question reportedly sported "unusually large nostrils," which – combined with the identification ring – raised suspicions that the bird was "implanted with a surveillance device" and that it arrived in Turkey as part of an espionage mission.

A lot of that press surrounding death cases in recent years has had to do with guys getting new trials or even released years after conviction because new evidence came to light. One of the big ones recently was the West Memphis Three, who were released after years of back-and-forth in the courts over new evidence as well as revelations of misconduct on the part of the police and the justice system.

Thing is, every time we see such news, it helps reinforce in our minds the myth that justice is eventually served, that such mistakes eventually get worked out. This case should be what shreds that myth, but it seems the media doesn't have time to report on cases it can't sensationalize.

Jailhouse confessions are something we hear about often in crime dramas and investigation shows, but how often is it that cops look into them and find out it's just some no-name hoodlum trying to make a name for himself by taking credit for a crime he didn't commit? Or trying to swing a deal with a desperate prosecutor by promising the "smoking gun" in exchange for a "Get Out Of Jail Free" card?

Another problem with capital cases is that you have "death-qualified juries", which basically means that anyone that wouldn't be willing to condemn someone to death is effectively excluded from the pool of potential jurors. Not surprisingly, this seems to result in a bias on the part of the eventually selected jurors.

Widow Unnerved By James O’Keefe Voter Fraud Stunt

“If he were my son I would spank him.”

That’s how the widow of a North Carolina man whose name was presented at a polling station by an activist working with James O’Keefe’s Project Veritas responded to a video the group released this week showing an individual using her deceased husband’s name.

As Media Matters points out, Michael Bolton, Jr. — a very much alive son of the widow who spoke to TPM — is registered to vote at the same address as his recently deceased father. The poll watcher in the extended version of the O’Keefe video asks if he was the junior Bolton to which the Project Veritas operative responds: “That would be correct.”

“I don’t like the way they just felt that they could use my husband’s name and put it out there,” the widow told TPM. “It just wasn’t right. My husband just died, and then they do that? Why didn’t they use somebody from a year ago or five years ago. It was just very insensitive.”

Winifred, wife to Michael G. Bolton and mother of Michael G. Bolton, Jr., said she supported the implementation of voter ID laws O’Keefe’s group supports, she just wished they’d talked to her first.

“I agree that there should be picture ID, I don’t understand why you don’t have to have picture ID, I don’t understand how that is so hard to get,” Bolton told TPM. “I sort of wish they had called first and asked permission, because it was very unnerving. I’m sympathetic to the message that they’re trying to get out, but being a new widow, it was really unnerving when it went up there. I am upset that it was a little insensitive that they didn’t call.”

So not only did they try to pose as a dead man, they also potentially took a living man's vote away from him.

Thats 0-4 in this round of exposing voter fraud.

Australian Tiger Fleet Hits Another Snag

Australia’s experience with the Eurocopter Tiger armed reconnaissance helicopter continues to be problematic. The army has now stopped all flights with its helos “due to a concern following the detection of fumes in the cockpit of one of the aircraft.”

The service is still working on getting the fleet fully operational, and the Australian defense department says that “final testing is planned for the end of 2012.”

Australia initially bought the aircraft in the hope of rapidly pressing it into service, but fielding the system proved more difficult than expected. Full operational capability is running more than a year behind schedule.

And this in a program where the first prototype airframe is now old enough to buy liquor. Aerospace: kinda hard actually.

Turkey suspects bird of being Israeli spy

It has a long tradition, this incident from the Napoleonic Wars occured on the NE coast of England;

"During the Napoleonic Wars there was a fear of a French invasion of Britain and much public concern about the possibility of French infiltrators and spies.

The fishermen of Hartlepool fearing an invasion kept a close watch on a foundering French vessel as it struggled against the storm but when the vessel was severely battered and sunk they turned their attention to the wreckage washed ashore. Among the wreckage lay one wet and sorrowful looking survivor, the ship's pet monkey dressed to amuse in a military style uniform.

The fishermen apparently questioned the monkey and held a beach-based trial. Unfamiliar with what a Frenchman looked like they came to the conclusion that this monkey was a French spy and should be sentenced to death. The unfortunate creature was to die by hanging, with the mast of a fishing boat (a coble) providing a convenient gallows."

He fronted bands including Rainbow, Black Sabbath, Dio and Heaven and Hell. After battling stomach cancer, Dio died in 2010 at the age of 67. His passing left a huge void in the music industry, as he was one of the most talented and beloved figures in metal. Two years after Dio's death, many of his contemporaries in the music world such as Tim “Ripper Owens, David Draiman (Disturbed), Brian Fair (Shadows Fall), Alex Skolnick (Testament), Johnny Solinger (Skid Row) and many others paid tribute to Ronnie via Twitter.

Two Navy ships collided at sea off the California coast Wednesday morning, Navy officials said.

USS Essex collided with USNS Yukon during a replenishment operation about 120 miles off the coast of Southern California.

Officials believe a steering malfunction in the Essex caused the collision.

No one was injured and no oil was spilled, but the two ships sustained some damage, a statement read.

James O'Keefe's "Dead" NC Voter Isn't Dead

In the ensuing video clip, an O'Keefe operative at a polling place tells a poll worker, "The name is Michael G. Bolton." There is then a jump cut, and in the next clip the poll worker is telling the operative to sign or make an mark in the pollbook to affirm his identity. The operative then says he would feel more comfortable if he could show his photo ID, and leaves.

Something very important happens during that jump cut. As the raw video reveals, the poll worker says, "You must be a junior? ... Michael G. Bolton, Jr.?" to which O'Keefe's operative responds: "That would be correct."

Yes, as multiple obituaries for Bolton note, he was survived by, among others, his son Michael Gordon Bolton, Jr. Public records searches using the Nexis database confirm that Bolton Jr. was registered to vote at the same address given to the poll worker by the O'Keefe operative.

Top Scott Walker Donor’s Business Paid Nothing In State Income Taxes From 2005 To 2008

Diane Hendricks is a billionaire who donated $500,000 — the largest donation ever made in a Wisconsin governor’s race — to Walker this year, but the company she owns paid absolutely nothing in taxes from 2005 to 2008, the Institute for Wisconsin’s Future reports:

ABC Supply may be a huge money-maker for Hendricks, but the Wisconsin corporate income tax returns she files claim the company makes not a penny in taxable profit.

ABC Supply paid exactly $0.00 in state corporate income tax in 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008, according to the state Department of Revenue. Tax data for more recent years were not available when the information was requested from the department.

Hendricks gained notoriety earlier this month when Walker was caught on film admitting to her that he was planning a “divide and conquer” strategy with the state’s public sector unions. That strategy, which led to Walker’s signature union-busting legislation and massive protests outside the state capitol, is why Walker is now facing a recall.

Context and dating of Aurignacian vulvar representations from Abri Castanet, France

We report here on the 2007 discovery, in perfect archaeological context, of part of the engraved and ocre-stained undersurface of the collapsed rockshelter ceiling from Abri Castanet, Dordogne, France. The decorated surface of the 1.5-t roof-collapse block was in direct contact with the exposed archaeological surface onto which it fell. Because there was no sedimentation between the engraved surface and the archaeological layer upon which it collapsed, it is clear that the Early Aurignacian occupants of the shelter were the authors of the ceiling imagery. This discovery contributes an important dimension to our understanding of the earliest graphic representation in southwestern France, almost all of which was discovered before modern methods of archaeological excavation and analysis. Comparison of the dates for the Castanet ceiling and those directly obtained from the Chauvet paintings reveal that the “vulvar” representations from southwestern France are as old or older than the very different wall images from Chauvet.

Hundreds protest anti-evolution meet in Turkey

Hundreds of protesters gathered in front of Istanbul’s Marmara University’s campus yesterday to speak out against Turkey’s “first-ever academic creationism symposium” that was organized by a student club, backed by the university’s administration, and attended by about 50 people.

“It is a new step taken against science, this is called the Islamization of the universities,” said Professor Atilla Şenel, a prominent anthropologist who was among the protestors. Police prevented Şenel was from entering the two-day symposium titled “Why does science deny inter-species evolution?”, by request of Marmara University’s rector. “This is a part of the program aiming ‘to raise a religious generation.’ Those academics who give presentations in that room have nothing to do with science. They can preach in a mosque but not in a university,” he told the Hürriyet Daily News. “If the symposium’s organizers wanted to engage in a scientific debate, they would allow those with opposing ideas to be in the room.”

Only those who held invitations were allowed into the symposium, where some 50 students listened to the first day’s speakers. Nihat Buğra Ağaoğlu, one of the organizers of the event, said he came to Marmara University to study medicine as a conservative man years ago, but he became depressed when he was taught about evolution. “They did not teach us any theory but Darwinism; we were strangers in our own land,” said Ağaoğlu, who is completing a PhD in genetics.

Ağaoğlu, who also works as a project coordinator at the Health Ministry, said the organizers of the event received threats. “They threatened to kill us, they said we were bigoted and had no place in academia,” he told the Daily News. In his opening speech Ağaoğlu said, “If science was against their beliefs they would find a way to struggle with it, as well.”

Among the presenters on the first day of the symposium was Professor Turan Güven from Gazi University, who said he did not take Darwin’s theories seriously. “He [Charles Darwin] wrote that humans had four legs and they tried to stand up to see their enemies, so that they became two-legged. You have got to be kidding me,” Güven said.

Change does tend to weigh your pants down, unless you carry a Manpurse.

I upgraded to the latest Chrome yesterday to see if the new HTML5 features here would work. Today, strangely, I still get the Flash player in the Spy windows, but when I open up a post in a separate window I get a new player I've never seen before.

Go to Settings and you should be able to set:

On Startup

[ ] Open the New Tab page
[ ] Continue where I left off
[ ] Open a specific page or set of pages. Set pages

I have to enter this entire string:

+"Guven" +"intelligent design" -"given"

to get Google to stop substituting "given" for "Guven", and then I am probably now over-filtering.

Gahhh....

I tried that. No matter what it always opens a new page with the "new tab" page.

Don't know why, but my version of Chrome wants to do that correction and I do have to enter that string with the -"given". Perhaps it is simply the combination of "Guven" with "intelligent design" that is throwing the Google front end for a loop.

Yes. Every time I open chrome or launch a new window of chrome it will open to the "new tab" page instead of my selected home page. I have to hit the home button. Very annoying

Well, Guven isn't a very common combination of roman characters.

Here's what I get:

+"Guven" +"intelligent design"

About 2,470,000 results (0.15 seconds)

It does seem to be a long existing bug. Google search for the new tab page shows that some people have been frustrated by it for years. Unfortunately all the fixes are now out of date.

re: #158 Expand Your Ground

To this day, Hartlepudlians are nicknamed "Monkey-Hangers"
