#Twitchy.com Says ‘Liberals’ Are Posting Death Threats on Twitter

Unsubtle race-baiting from Michelle Malkin’s far right fake news site
Wingnuts • Views: 30,932

twitchy.com, Michelle Malkin’s fake right wing news site, has developed a great formula for firing up the wingnut blogosphere: they search Twitter for random nasty comments about conservatives, then label the tweeters “libs” and repost the tweets, leading to a right wing pile-on and rage-gasm.

Today’s case in point: “Kill Scott Walker”: Angry Libs Flood Twitter With Death Threats After Wisconsin Recall Defeat | Twitchy.

Tonight, liberal Twitter users are openly advocating the assassination of Gov. Scott Walker…

They certainly did find some death threats, which, as anyone who uses Twitter knows, is about as unusual as sand on a beach. Oddly enough, almost all of the people singled out by twitchy.com are African Americans.

What makes these tweeters “liberal,” though? I clicked through to some of their profiles and checked out their tweets, and found no real evidence that they’re “libs” or involved in liberal politics — but plenty of evidence that the people who post death threats also post lots of other freaky, nasty comments. Which is, you know, a big shock, if you’re from twitchy.com.

Twitchy’s latest exercise in paranoia was immediately parroted in unison by many right wing blogs, because that’s how they roll. The most ludicrous of these comes from breitbart.com editor John Nolte: ‘KILL SCOTT WALKER’: LEFT UNLEASHES DEATH THREATS.

Nolte finds a way to bring President Obama into it, of course:

We all know that the same president who intentionally ignited a racial firestorm around the shooting of Trayvon Martin by a Hispanic Democrat will never call for calm here, so let’s pray that Governor Walker, Lt. Governor Kleefisch, and those around them, take these threats seriously.

If past is prologue, these threats are no laughing matter.

If past is prologue, John Nolte is the last person who should be condemning others for death threats. See:

Breitbart Editor John Nolte About HBO ‘Stage Mom:’ ‘She Should Be Murdered’

Breitbart Editor John Nolte: ‘Teachers Who Take Kids to Protests Should Be Murdered’

Of course, it’s not unusual at all to see death threats and calls for violence in the comments at Breitbart.com, and the people who post this garbage are definitely right wingers. For just a few examples:

Yet Another Deluge of Racist Hatred and Calls for Genocide at Breitbart.com

UPDATE at 6/6/12 12:26:40 pm

Meanwhile, the comments from right wingers on twitchy.com’s own post about horrible “liberal death threats” are chock full of rage, overt racism, violent fantasies, and eliminationist rhetoric. A few examples (h/t: iceweasel):

bisquitbrain: It’s been going on longer than most on this blog have been alive. Nobody would believe you 25 years ago that it was a rapidly growing problem. Now it’s full grown and like a weed it will spring back up every time you whack it off. The roots must be dug out. You already said it but John Nolte is condemning death threats? Isn't that like Scott Walker accusing someone of union busting?

Not only they tried to present some stupid teens' comments as a liberal onslaught, they lied about at least one twitterer "threatening" Walker (when he had done no such thing), and some wingnuts promptly reported him or her to the FBI:

It's all Obama's fault yet when these idiots actually use violent rhetoric themselves, it's that we on the left are too stupid to understand their brilliant wit and humor.

Stupid people can't tell the difference between Tweets and Retweets, though I think Retweeting a death threat is stupid all by itself.

I know it'll sound defeatist, but I'm almost of the opinion that we should let unions go into hiding for awhile, let people see what corporations are like when workers are left to fend for themselves. It took immense work an a good bit of blood to get this far. I don't want to have to start over with the Knights of Labor and the Molly Maguires.

It's getting to the point where we're almost back at Square One. Out of the entire First World, we're close to if not at dead last in everything from paid vacation to maternity leave. People seriously have no clue what's been ripped out from under their feet as the unions have been beaten and bludgeoned into a mere shadow of themselves. But the worst part is they look at this situation and think it's "good" because the retreat of unions means "more jobs."

Let's be straight as well Tom Barrett is no union man. I could feel the heat from his gleeful hand rubbing when Walker gave him his "tools". The unions would not have been calling any shots. They may have at least had a spot at the table, but no way was Barrett going to give back what was taken away. Now we know. Wisconsin doesn't think teachers deserve a seat at the table.

Barack Obama and Bill Clinton are not union men. They're just vastly better than the alternatives.

I know it'll sound defeatist, but I'm almost of the opinion that we should let unions go into hiding for awhile, let people see what corporations are like when workers are left to fend for themselves. Thinks it's time for a reeducation of the American people of just what it was like a century ago for workers in this nation.

We're seeing it now after 30 years since Reagan took an ax to unions. They are nothing now compared to the power they once had and it shows dramatically with the demolition of the middle class. I was raised in a union-hating Republican household - seeing the results of increasingly impotent and non-existent unions, I'm now a serious union supporter and advocate.

I think a lot of it is a basic misunderstanding of business. Glibertarians and other folks with rose-colored glasses claim that in the competitive free market, companies will treat workers well because it gives them a market advantage, turnover costs companies money, etc. This ignores the obvious reality that many places-- like Wal-Mart-- have systematized things so that turnover impacts them a lot less, and have taken the market position of being exploitative of labor. It's a viable economic position, just like selling shoddy merchandise that doesn't work that well is; some people will work the shit jobs because they can't get anything else or don't realize they can get something else, some people will buy the cheapest stuff on the market because they can't afford anything else or they're poor judges of quality or whatever.

True, but the corporations learned their lesson. Now they pump money into government to defang the NLRB, then hold the threat of job losses and other penalties over folks heads for even discussing the idea of forming a union. Or make "pleas" for the workers not to unionize, because otherwise they'll have to shut down the plant and move the jobs elsewhere.

The right's fixation on the Second Amendment has led them to regard violence as a kind of ultimate trump card in their ongoing struggle against liberalism, reason, and science.
It's not going to happen, they don't have the stomach for it. It is not that they are especially averse to violence, heaven knows, it is simply that they have too much to lose. Even wingers of very modest means are exceedingly proud of their possessions, their mortgages, their credit ratings, and all the other signifiers of material status around which their culture is built. A crazed preacher would have only to imagine federal troops putting the torch to his warehouse full of health supplements and home-schooling supplies, and he would instantly tear up that seditious sermon calling the faithful to the barricades.

This is not a new set of fantasies. Look at how certain many in the South were that the Confederacy would be free after one battle because the Yankees weren't good warrior gentlemen. Rugged individudualism based on the nuclear family. Which, the way it is progressing, will lead us back to Feudalism within a few generations...

Rugged individuals tend to die badly. Communities survive.

re: #114 Targetpractice

You know how it goes. They go to their boss and say "I've worked here for years, I've done a lot of hard work, I think I deserve higher pay."

And their boss, whose bonuses depend on increasing productivity while keeping costs (salaries, benefits, etc) down, gives the employee a long look and tells him "Be glad you got a job. There's a dozen applications on my desk from guys who are just as experienced who'd kill for what you're getting paid now. Now get back to work before I put you on report."

Everybody should be a self-employed entrepreneur. On a day-laborer basis, waiting outside the offiece building for a boss to come by and say "I'm hiring six accountants and three IT people, eight bucks an hour!"

Sometimes I see that as the GOP ideal.

The Twitchy comments are some of the worst I've ever seen. In some cases worse than what one would find at Stormfront. Michelle Malkin has found her true audience which now extends well beyond her other "home" at the white nationalist, Vdare.

I still like how these guys think owning a gun and a dog makes them important people to be reckoned with, like they're living out on the frontier waiting for bandits to attack.

Hey, I have a 26 lb cat incapable of cleaning his ass. I'll put his stench up against any pussy hating dog.

Malkin's site is really called Twitchy or is that just a joke?
