Flatten

Smashed food in Holland
Arts • Views: 25,419

An experimental film in which we where curious about the forms and shapes food makes when you flatten them.

After that we composited different parts of the video and each gave them a separate time span so we could edit on the music.

Visuals : Hugo de Kok & Kay van Vree
Music : Ivo van Dijk & Sophie Ansems

Though after flattening, would using them for crepes be more appropriate?

Hmm. Either recipe would work.

Misogynism in its most extreme form:

Five women 'killed by tribal elders for dancing and singing with men at wedding party in remote Pakistani village'

As wedding scenes go, it is a rather sedate affair.

But four women who joined in the celebrations are thought to have paid with their lives.

They are feared to have been the victims of honour killings after dancing with men.

In scenes from the wedding, they are pictured in heavy robes and headdresses, sitting on the floor while singing and clapping.

Two men were apparently dancing next to them, while out of shot another person captures the moment on a mobile phone video camera.

Soon afterwards, the women were said to have been shot or had their throats cut for breaking local customs that prevent them from dancing with the opposite sex.

Another woman, said to have been ‘an accomplice’, was also allegedly executed. Last night officials in Pakistan were travelling to the remote north-western village of Kohistan to investigate the claims.

A tribal council of clerics – known as a Jirga – reportedly condemned the women to death for ‘fornication’ and staining their families’ names.

Their actions were said to have brought shame on the community, which frowns on men and women dancing together or fraternising at all.

I guess that wasn't the "wedding party" allegedly hit by Nato, or was it?

No, it wasn't. The was just plain religiously ordered murder. May the men who ordered it repent of their sins and admit their guilt. Absent that, I am sure they will burn in Hell for their misdeeds.

Ah, thus the wonder that is Kahlua.

We had open bar last night at the project close-out party. So I got to indulge in some interesting mixes. Which included someone getting me to try a few odd things with coffee liquer in them.

I wanna know how they got video of the smashing. Doesn't look like something flat and clear was used to smash. Did they drop them from above. Some of those cookies look rather soft to begin with. I'm not sure they'd smash so well if dropped.

used to drink Kahlua, vodka, coffee and cream. No, it wasn't vodka. I can't remember. I forget what it was called. I drank a lot of them.

Just went to my audible library to download more books. Noticed that my last listen, The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich by William Shirer, was 7 downloads. No wonder it took so long to get thru.

Moving on to Paris 1919 my Margaret McMillion and some much needed science - fiction.

RE: I’ll Vouch for That

JindalCo’s “scholarship” program is looking more like the boondoggle many feared it would be.

The most brazen example is Eternity Christian Academy in Westlake. The school has been approved to accept 135 new students. That’s a considerable uptick in enrollment, which at the end of this school year stood at 38 — a more than 300 percent increase. Talk about buttressing the budget; $1 million in tax dollars will be diverted from the public school system to Eternity Christian, a school that, according to its mission statement, offers “a quality faith-based curriculum that is soley [sic] based on principles from the Bible ...”
The Jehovah-Jireh Christian Academy in Baton Rouge, which has been approved to accept 30 voucher kids, proclaims it “is now a [sic] official SAT test site.”

I guess spelling and grammar aren’t big focuses at these schools.

Hi Lizards..As I said earlier today during a good Time out I was going to tell a story from last night that is perhaps the funniest fucking thing I've ever seen in Oklahoma..I was at a party for the girls softball National Championship For OU.. You know here in Norman National Championships is a big deal and I went to a big time party.
Now.. This is Oklahoma..You can't make this shit up..I've been texted by several people begging me not to tell this story today..
We are at this house with all these guys drinking beer with this one lady who is a big OU fan.. Cool, it was fun..
And then..It was the twilight zone.. Her Ex came by and it became very awkward..All the guys of course was giving total support to Him but everybody loves her so I could feel the riff in the room.. Everything was going well, Who the heck hasn't partied with a couple that broke up? We are all adults.. Did I say this is Oklahoma yet?
We are all watching the game on the big screen..And she says, ' It's hot in here' It was pretty cool with the A/C on.. She took off her top and took a drink of beer..We were all stunned ..The guys all giving each other the eye with the eternal question, What is going on here?
Man it got awkward.. Then she said.. Really it is getting hot in here..
And she took off her skirt.. Now it was full on..People were laughing..But not in a good way...Shit was really getting hot..I was expecting being the lead story on CNN in the Morning..20 shot dead in Oklahoma..
Dudes..She was wearing a matching black and red panty victoria secret thingies and she was hot.. He got so upset he stormed out and drove off.. She put her clothes back on and we watched the rest of the game..
Really? Welcome to Oklahoma.. It was funny as hell

Eh, don't know. It's an ok work but I never really got into it. I'd rather kick back and read Chaucer when I'm in that kind of mood. His baudy folk just seemed more true to life to me, even when slogging through the original middle English. Give it a shot though, it's certainly better than most of what passes for that type of literature.

Kohistan jirga death decree: Condemned women remain a no-show at SC

Contradictory versions flooded the Supreme Court on Wednesday during the hearing of a case where a death decree was issued against five women in Kohistan.

Don't hold your breath for Rachael Maddow and Al Sharpton to cover this one.

Kohistani women already killed, SC told

The two men accused of dancing and singing at a wedding party told the Supreme Court on Wednesday that the five co-accused Kohistani women were already dead. Meanwhile, the police informed the court on Wednesday that the girls were alive and would be produced before the court today (Thursday).

Maddow should, though. Bad as American's own haters are, they don't hold a candle compared to the extreme hatred of women seen in parts of Pakistan.

Pakistan is bizarre.

I know people from Karachi. They seem sane enough. A friend of mine's daughter is married and living over there. Again, sane and normal --whatever that means.

Then there is the Northern Mountain Region and the in betweens. . .

We have more diversity in people and geography, yet this shit doesn't happen.

WTF?

I think we have the hatred, just not the action based on it.

I walk over and asked her if she wanted a beer and a shot to groans and laughter in the room...It was funny...She wanted a cold beer..Donnie is in the kitchen yelling at me, Do not give her another beer!
Why Donnie..Are you afraid to get naked?
He has texted me several times today that he hates me.. I don't believe him..LOL

I respectfully would argue that the more extreme levels of hate are held by a far smaller portion of the population, even with wingnut communities this is true. In Pakistan extreme gender apartheid is far more common and accepted.
