We haven’t had one of these posts in a while, not because the hate mail has dried up, but because it’s usually so unimaginative and dull. But here’s one that pretty much lays bare the deranged bigotry of the anti-Muslim crowd, in a few quick sentences dripping with vitriol.

Tonight’s bigot came to us from Memphis, Tennessee, where he searched Google for the name of Samar Ali, an economic development officer recently hired by Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam who’s now being targeted by right wing nuts led by anti-Muslim demagogue Frank Gaffney. That search led our bigot to this post by LGF author CuriousLurker: Anti-Muslim Activists Take Aim at TN Gov. Haslam Hire, FAIL.

Reading CuriousLurker’s article caused hot steam to begin shooting from this wingnut’s ears, and in a frantic effort to express the inchoate rage boiling in his head he (you know it’s a “he”) used our contact form to send the following rant:

You are a severely fucked up individual -if you Love Islam so much get the fuck out and move to the Middle East - The Ikwan or Muslim Brotherhood does have a goal of destroying America from within, -re-establishing the global caliphate where NO Other religion can exist & by the way Islam is NOT a religion, it is a Political System cloaked w/ a sick pedophilic based belief system started by a madman who lived by the SWORD or can you not read legitimate material you dumb fuck

Just for reference, here’s the very dangerous Muslim woman this benighted bigot thinks is scheming to “re-establish the global caliphate:”

Actually, Ms Ali is a graduate of Vanderbilt Law School. Here’s her bio, from the White House website:

Samar Ali, Waverly, TN. Samar Ali is an Associate with the firm Hogan Lovells US LLP. She is responsible for counseling clients on mergers & acquisitions, cross-border transactions, Shari’a compliant transactions, project finance, and international business matters. During her time with Hogan Lovells, she has been a founding member of the firm’s Abu Dhabi office. Prior to that, she clerked for The Honorable Gilbert S. Merritt of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit and for The Honorable Edwin Cameron, now of the Constitutional Court of South Africa, where she also worked extensively on editing his book Witness to AIDS. While in Nashville, Samar led the YMCA Israeli-Palestinian Modern Voices for Progress Program, and is currently the transatlantic liaison for the development of the Palestine Diabetes Institute. Gov. Haslam, by the way, isn’t giving in to the pressure from the Bigot Brigade. Good for him.

When asked about his stance on the issue, Haslam said that freedom of religion is guaranteed in our country, and that he looked forward to working with Ms. Ali.

“Samar is a highly qualified person, who has taken a role with our Economic Development Department . She comes with a great track record and a lot of experience and we think she’ll be a great employee for the state of Tennessee,” said Haslam.
