Former GOP Presidential Candidate Tom Tancredo to Address White Supremacists

What right wing racism?
Wingnuts • Views: 17,010

We’ve been watching in horror since the beginning of the Obama administration as the right wing’s buried racism came bursting out to the surface, loud and proud. And now, one of the GOP’s candidates for President, Tom Tancredo, who’s long been associated with extreme right wing groups, has completely stopped even his token attempts to conceal his true agenda, and will give a speech to one of the most virulent racist organizations still operating in the United States: Former Congressman Tancredo to Address White Supremacists.

Tom Tancredo has no more secrets.

The former Republican congressman from Colorado, known for his biting anti-immigration rhetoric and campaign ads suggesting Latino immigrants are rapists and drug dealers, is scheduled to be the luncheon speaker at next month’s annual conference for the white supremacist Council of Conservative Citizens (CCC). The theme of the conference? “Multiculturalism – the Death of America.”

Sharing the dais with Tancredo will be a rogue’s gallery of the racist right, including James Edwards, who hosts the white nationalist Political Cesspool radio show; Don Black, the former Klansman best known for creating Stormfront.org, the first major Internet hate site; and Leonard Wilson, a longtime segregationist and Alabama commander for the Sons of Confederate Veterans, a neo-Confederate group that, like Tancredo, staunchly opposes immigration.

For those who have watched Tancredo go through endless contortions to distance himself from his racist friends, speaking at a CCC conference seems to be a turning point. The time has passed to apologize for the company he keeps.

(h/t: Thanos.)

UPDATE at 6/21/12 1:19:54 pm

Tancredo’s PAC now says he’s not going to speak, despite being advertised in the CCC newsletter.

Racists of a feather......

Unfortunately, I don't think any of those names or organizations would mean anything to Joe Randomguy, unless Joe Randomguy is himself a poster at Stormfront.

Heh indeed. These people and their ideological ancestors have been claiming that diversity will ruin us for eons. This is just plain sad by a sad bunch.

I look forward to National Review's glowing articles about Tancredo's speech.

Needs to be said that Tancredo got 36% of the vote when he ran for governor last year. This isn't some fringe lunatic without support. This is a guy with real political support. Srory 36.

I'd forgotten that. Just remember him from one of his presidential runs.

As an aside, the Duluth MN area is right and proper screwed at the moment. Nearly nine inches of rain in the last 24 hours, combined with a big hill to give it some force, have undercut many regional roads and apparently left the city functionally inaccessible.

Crazy spring everywhere you look, it seems.

OT early, but.... holy cow.

(Arizona) Secretary of State Ken Bennett says he’s convinced Obama was born in Hawaii, but he now believes the president fraudulently claimed to be born in Kenya so he could get into college. He also believes the president has spent millions of dollars since then to cover it up.

Does Bennett spend his spare time in a meth lab or something?

It's easier to get into college when you have to jump through visa hoops, you see.

He's trying to avoid getting further down into his work pile and finding the request to prove that Romney is not a unicorn.

So basically his previous CT failed so he has a new one. Christ Bennett operates like an Oliver Stone movie conspiracy. Just another shining example of the people Romney has speaking on his behalf.

I'm not sure which is more insulting:

The diehard birther who just can't believe Obama is American
-or-
This guy who thinks Obama couldn't get into college without faking Kenyan

20 jaunte  Wed, Jun 20, 2012 12:31:36pm

Political Cesspool-dweller James Edwards runs the SPLC post through his filters and comes up with this knee-slappin' skinhead humor:

"I feel as though I’m repeating myself at this point, but keep in mind that that the way the SPLC uses words is not the same way most people use them. So I’ve included for your convenience a handy SPLC-to-English translator:

White supremacist – anybody who doesn’t hate White people
Anti-semite – 1. any non Jewish White person; 2. everyone who’s ever met Abe Foxman
Extremist – normal American
Holocaust denier – someone who asks questions about WWII the ADL doesn’t want asked
Neo-Nazi – any White person who openly disagrees with a Jewish person
Racist – a White person"

They both are. The idea that Obama is their fellow American as well as him succeeding on his own merit bothers the crap out of people like Ken Bennett.

St. Reagan didn't approve of it:

When Ronald Reagan was governor of California he systematically began closing down mental hospitals, later as president he would cut aid for federally-funded community mental health programs. It is not a coincidence that the homeless populations in the state of California grew in the seventies and eighties. The people were put out on the street when mental hospitals started to close all over the state.

Aryan Nations.

Shooting and lawsuit
In September 2000, the Southern Poverty Law Center won a $6.3 million judgment against Aryan Nations from an Idaho jury who awarded punitive and compensatory damages to a woman and her son who were beaten with rifles by drunken Aryan Nations security guards in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho in July 1998.[8][9]

The woman and her son were driving near the Aryan Nations compound when their car backfired, which the guards claimed to misinterpret as gunfire.[citation needed] The guards fired at the car, striking it several times, leading the car to crash, after which one of the Aryan Nations guards held the Keenans at gunpoint.[9][10] In the summer of 2004 the Aryan Nations moved to Sebring, Florida.

In February 2001, the group's Hayden Lake compound and intellectual property, including the names Aryan Nations and Church of Jesus Christ Christian, were transferred to the Keenans.[9]

The Keenans sold the property to Greg Carr, a Southeastern Idaho philanthropist who donated the land to North Idaho College, which designated it as a peace park.[5][9] The watchtower was demolished, and the church and meeting hall were burned to the ground during a firefighting exercise.

You need to have some sympathy for these people, I mean for years they worked hard and were able to subvert and sequester their overt racist tendencies in the pursuit of wider political acceptance. But what in the hell else did you expect them to do once a Ni**er got elected? They simply had no choice except to come out in the open and oppose him, did they?

(not sarc, it is the truth...unfortunatly)

The irony of it all is just how much money preventatively addressing adequate mental health care would save the public in the long run. Such shortsightedness is inexcusable.

Again, Republicans prove that they are completely comfortable with racists. It may even be a plus for them to hang out with open racists. Reporters need to start asking Romney about his fellow GOPers. If Dems were openly racist, President Obama would be slammed by association. I don't understand why that's not happening with the Republicans.
