Wingnut Blogger Outraged By Implication of Racism, While His Commenters Spew Racist Slurs at the Obamas

Languishing in obscurity
Wingnuts • Views: 28,785

In a sort of delayed derp reaction, several wingnut bloggers are having conniptions today about my post on Ann Romney’s dog-whistle comment about the Obamas’ “overseas vacations,” because I wrote that these right wing criticisms often contain a not very subtle sub-text of racism.

The dumbest and nastiest one I’ve seen in our referrer log is from the moron who stole the name of his blog from one of our upper-right sidebar random sayings: Weasel Zippers » Blog Archive » Lefty Blogger Accuses Ann Romney of “Racism” After She Says They Won’t Take As Many Vacations As The Obamas…

Long time blog readers will know who this this [sic] washed-up clown Charles Johnson is, but for those who don’t he was once a prominent conservative blogger who decided he didn’t like being a prominent conservative blogger and made a hard left turn and with it went all his readers, traffic, dignity and shame. These days he languishes in obscurity trying to get people blocked from Twitter.

How could anyone think there was a sub-text of racism in Ann Romney’s remarks? Why, it’s outrageous that I’d say something like that!

From Weasel Zipper’s comments on this story, where they’re busily calling Michelle Obama a “sasquatch” and a “wookie:”

She’s so attractive.
squatch is growling and sharpening her claws.

[…]

I cannot wait for Ann to be our First Lady. Class all the way. The Wookie, not so much.

[…]

Don’t think we’ll be seeing Ann Romney on the Nickolodeon awards, dressed like a hoochie-mama, either.

[…]

Class on our right, Chewbacca on the left.

[…]

What’s the deal with Chewbacca’s falling hair over the RIGHT eye? Is that her pirate look? As in pillaging.

[…]

Ha, Good for you Ann and even if you did, you would probably pay your own way.
We need Class not Wookie Ass in our White House .

[…]

Well Guys we all better watch out come this August.
The wookie likes to take that whole month off; With this being an election year she is going to have to cancel and that is going to make a very, very unhappy wookie.
Or she will just say fuck it(like normal) and take the vacations anyway without obama.More time to spend with her Secret Service toy.

Or how about this post at Weasel Zippers, with a picture of President Obama with a shovel? Weasel Zippers » Blog Archive » Michelle Obama’s Latest Plea For Donations: Barack Was a Fearless Snow Shoveler When We Lived In Chicago…

What job did the Mooch have????

[…]

Shoveling snow up his nose.

[…]

Both of the 0bamas would be better put to work shoveling dirt on a farm. Or perhaps picking cotton on a plantation. Get those two f**ks out of the white house please.

[…]

Oh crap,he doesn’t get up till noon by then the snow is melting

[…]

Just wondering is the money for more wigs and face lifts…the street corner husler is hard at work…

[…]

God’s clowns will not go quietly.Maybe after Jeopardy,Sasquatch can head to the SD ZOO and double dutch for the primates amusement.

[…]

Hopefully that fuck stix is digging his own dirt nap resting place.

[…]

Oooo….careful saying that The Obamessiah is using a “spade” — don’t want to incur the wrath of a missile-firing domestic drone (hmm… that seems an apt description for both Obozo and the First Wookie!)

[…]

Looney Tunes! the gorilla is on the bath salts also.

[…]

Bet he was going ape shit being surrounded by so much white.

Remember, though — there’s no racism on the right wing!

Meanwhile, I’m extremely broken up about “languishing in obscurity.” What will it take for me to get noticed by someone with some real clout, instead of this obscure publication called Politico that nobody’s ever heard of?

Fast and Furious: Blogs Rage Over Obama Exec Privilege:

“The right wing blogs are howling in unison like frustrated banshees, of course,” dismisses Charles Johnson at Little Green Footballs.

I can't help but be a little curious as to what kind of traffic Weasel Zippers (great name /) gets.

My guess is LGF probably crushes him in that department.

Some of these right-wing bloggers could easily buy themselves a smidgen of credibility by engaging with the commenters on their own articles, and personally pointing out that the racist comments are unacceptable.

I fully expect this to happen. No really I do.

OK, not really.

Right wingers focus on the words, not the sentiment. Therefore, if you use one of those magic words, that's racist in and of itself, and it makes you a racist even if you used the word in a quote from a wingnut.

No, it doesn't make any logical sense, but this really is how they think.

Feds: Texas Man Threatened Murfreesboro Mosque

Correa is charged with “intentionally obstructing by threat of force the free exercise of religious beliefs and one count of using an instrument of interstate commerce to communicate a threat to destroy a building by means of an explosive device,” the feds said in a press release.

Correa allegedly used a cell phone to call the Islamic Center of Murfreesboro and left a message saying there was going to be a bomb in the building on the 10th anniversay of the September 11 terrorist attacks. “Listen up you fucking Muslim bitches, go back to your fucking dirty fucking country, fucking Muslim fascists, get the fuck out of here,” he allegedly stated.

Romney To Republican Governor: Discussing The Economic Recovery Will Hurt My Election Chances

In fact, the Romney campaign has directly asked Gov. Rick Scott (R-FL) to “tone down” his positive statements about Florida’s improving economy because they inconveniently clash with Romney’s national narrative. Two campaign officials confirmed that Scott has been asked to instead say that his state’s economy would improve under a Republican presidency, Bloomberg News reports:

What’s unfolding in Florida highlights a dilemma for the Romney campaign: how to allow Republican governors to take credit for economic improvements in their states while faulting Obama’s stewardship of the national economy. Republican governors in Ohio, Virginia, Michigan and Wisconsin also have highlighted improving economies. [...]

A Romney adviser made the request this week to Scott’s staff after press releases from the governor’s re-election campaign and Internet messages from the Florida Chamber of Commerce trumpeted the state’s drop to 8.6 percent unemployment rate in May from 8.7 percent in April, the people said. The national unemployment rate is 8.2 percent.

When your understanding of the world contains the sole fixed point of "my tribe is always in the right," crippling cognitive dissonance is a feature, not a bug.

It's all very Soviet, what with the understanding of truth and culpability not as functions of fact but of affiliation. Andrey Vyshinsky would have fit in great as a RWNJ blogger; he had down the "lay down big insults, refuse to engage using facts or logic" style to a pat.

All four of those governors also have Democratic predecessors except Scott. Typical Romney though to engage in a tactic like this. He's making Scott look somewhat decent which greatly amuses me knowing that Scott should be in jail.

When I worked at the NOC at Camp Lejeune, we used to have a bank of monitors reporting network status at all times. Email servers, Web, file servers, connections to all the commands, everything on a color coded scheme that you could glance at and in a few seconds, determine what was operational. It was right next to the people responsible for help desk calls.

Without fail, we had one civilian contractor who wouldn't turn her fat ass around and for every call she got, she would simply yell out "IS THE INTERNET DOWN?"

Its been 10 years and I still dream about slapping her.

I wasn't going to bring this up, but what the hell. I got into a huge argument with a LGF regular who insisted that 911 saying "We don't need you to do that" was not a request to let the cops handle it.

So now it comes out that Zimmerman himself understood that 911 was telling him to him chill and he ignored it. If he had stayed with his vehicle, he wouldn't have murdered Martin.

I think the title of your post should be "Wingnut Blogger pretends to be outraged at My Implication of Racism..."

They're not outraged, since they have no problems with racists. It's gone beyond dog whistles.

Wonder how soon they'll have the Attorney General in chains, and impeach Obama based on the absolutely frivolous Fast & Furious nonsense.

By the end of the month, student loan rates will double. The Repubs have no time to work on that, but have time to hold a vote in the House to hold Holder in contempt. Hope this all backfires on them.

An interesting religious site, for a change. I'll have to look at it more.

However that article makes me think of the NRA loons that Maddow interviewed when they were calling for Holder's impeachment, based on his voting record (They thought he was elected and voted somewhere in government), and on his general anti gun position, but when asked to be specific they could only say that they believed he was, and by damn that was good enough to demonstrate for.

FB and Twitter are Free. When I pay for something, I expect service.

Blizzard Entertainment's customer service is virtually non-existent. Apparently, my WoW account which I haven't used in nearly 2 years was hacked at some point after I cancelled it and so they banned me. It would have been thoughtful to send a form letter in the mail that I was banned so I could address it ASAP seeing as I've given them $100s over the years, but form letters cost money.

I discovered the banning when I bought Diablo III a few weeks ago, went on the boards to ask a question and wasn't able to post.

It took them three days to address me. Phone service was over 1.5 hour wait. Literally, they told me, "Thanks for calling. Your wait time is 99 minutes."

I wrote an online ticket. The next day, my response was "If you're having trouble, write a ticket".

I wrote a second ticket. The day after that, the response was, "Please pay us $6.70 more for an authenticator token to authenticate your password."

I hate Blizzard and quite frankly Diablo III sucks ass.

Blizzard made $1 billion last year. $3.5 billion in the last 3 years. It's nice being a 1%er.

My most recent incompetence gripe is with Skype. I had a paid subscription with them, for international calls paid on my CC. However every monthly bill had a 3% foreign transaction fee, even though my account was in US $ and from the US, and my bill would say things like billed from Singapore, or the UK.

Skype were totally clueless, after many communications and complaints and all they would say is that they are registered in Lichtenstein or wherever (tax dodgers) and the charge is from my CC, not them; but never could I get them to say why they can't bill me from the US. I know why, they are dodging US taxes also (didn't MS buy Skype? Way to go MS).

Anyway, I eventually figured out that I could pay via Paypal and there was no foreign exchange fee (even though Paypal is paid by the same CC).

I guess Microsoft has figured that it is cheaper to pay Paypal than bill from the USA, and have to pay tax accountants to avoid US taxes.//

Yes, the laws regarding online transactions are much different. I don't know what they are! But I have a tax lawyer in the family and he was talking about recently.

For me, I would have been happy getting customer service from Pakistan, rather than none at all.
