Former Michigan GOP Spokesman: ‘Is Armed Rebellion Now Justified?’

Butthurt reaches epic levels

There have been a lot of truly deranged responses to the Supreme Court decision from the wingnut crowd today, but this has to be in the top three: Former GOP Spokesman: ‘Is Armed Rebellion Now Justified?’

The former spokesman for the Michigan Republican Party sent out an emailthat questioned whether armed rebellion was justified over the Supreme Court ruling upholding Obamacare.

Matthew Davis, an attorney in Lansing, sent the emailmoments after the Supreme Court ruling to numerous new media outlets and limited government activists with the headline: “Is Armed Rebellion Now Justified?”

Davis added his own personal note saying, “… here’s my response. And yes, I mean it.”

“There are times government has to do things to get what it wants and holds a gun to your head,” Davis said. “I’m saying at some point, we have to ask the question when do we turn that gun around and say no and resist.

“Was the American Revolution justified?”

When contacted, Davis said the key word was “justified.” He compared armed rebellion to a situation where the government cannot get your money by way of liens or seizure of bank accounts is coming to arrest you for not paying an unconstitutional tax.

“You can’t have people walking with lattes and signs and think the object of your opposition is going to take you seriously,” Davis said. “Armed rebellion is the end point of that physical confrontation.”

The answer being no. Next stupid question.

At least he's "former" -- I'll get worried when anyone in any position of power within the GOP starts calling for armed resistance.

That question was answered on May 9th, 1865. Only the truly ignorant don't know the answer.

If government can mandate that I pay for something I don't want, then what is beyond its power? If the Supreme Court's decision Thursday paves the way for unprecedented intrusion into personal decisions, then has the Republic all but ceased to exist? If so, then is armed rebellion today justified?

I don't want the government to pay for quite a few things they currently use my tax dollars on. Is that an abuse of power and intrusion into my personal decisions?

Armed uprising to the USSC upholding people getting health care? This is what angers you Davis? You're a sad, sad man.

Matthew Davis, an attorney in Lansing......Sounds like he has his head on straight. I suggest he grab a weapon. Then shoot his dumb ass.

Armed rebellion isn't justified, because this was a law passed through the Democratic process and upheld by the Supreme Court, and does not disenfranchise anyone or do anything unconstitutional.

Remember the central image of the Tea Party: armed insurrection against a tyrannical usurper.

Which perfectly describes a legally and fairly elected Congress and President who pass3ed the bill and a legally appointed Supreme Court that upheld it.

We reserve the right to take up arms against anything we disagree with!!!

Sighs.

This came to mind.

I mean, seriously!?! This is healthcare, not the Chinese system of regulating how many kids families can have. WTF is wrong with these socon kooks?

I love how Republicans think they're the only one's with guns. No matter how many guns a person owns they've only got two hands to hold 'em.

I have enough in the house to equip a ragtag platoon if it ever comes down to that, and a there's a much smaller percentage of people on the liberal side of this issue restricted to Hoverround navigable terrain.

They have an irrational hatred of lattes. Also, they probably drink them all the time.

Well, Justice Roberts is no liberal, so the Republicans can go as crazy as they want. A Bush-appointed Judge helped the President out today. And of course they're threatening violence -- do they ever do anything else when something doesn't go their way?

I guess they can put away all the celebrating and whooping and hollering they planned to do today. Too bad for them.

I won't say Republicans since there are many who are as appalled by this sort of thing as anyone.

But the wingnuts, which this guy is, bear a remarkable resemblance to the Axis back in WWII. "They're weak, effete liberals who haven't got the balls to fight. We show up, they'll shit themselves. Then they'll either run away or surrender. If the latter we'll kill them where they stand. They deserve it."

We all know how accurate that prediction turned out.

A bill was passed that I did not like and that bill was sent to the SCOTUS for review and the court ruled in a way I didn't like. Is armed insurrection justifiable? /

I love how Republicans think they're the only one's with guns.

Or that the only people in the military and/or law enforcement are Republicans who agree with them about armed rebellion being justified.

Yes, because Ron Paul said that judicial review is invalid!

LOL. I'll just go to my liberal father's house and borrow one. I do know how to load and shoot. ;-)

It is the lame fallback solution for all conservatives, if you disagree with us, and if we lose an election, a supreme court decision, etc we immediately suggest there will be armed revolution, to bully our way back into power. It isn't even a good troll anymore, I can't even bring myself to be outraged, because it is just so predictable.

And that my friends is the sign of a party that is slithering along the road to obscurity. I say that because they they seem to be adopting a more libertarian, anti-human platform, and often invoke the use of violence if they don't get their way, and it makes me believe there will be a time when the majority of normal people will reject them in entirety. It can't happen soon enough.

41 Destro  Thu, Jun 28, 2012 1:49:29pm

Republican president Lincoln answered the question if "armed rebellion" against the USA is justified.

42 labman57  Thu, Jun 28, 2012 3:11:21pm

To demonstrate their commitment to our sacred U.S. Constitution, many conservative pundits and politicians strive to eliminate those Amendments that conflict with their ideology, simply ignore other sections that they find inconvenient to honor, and to pick and choose which SCOTUS rulings they deem worthy to uphold.

And if all else fails, they can always resort to "Second Amendment remedies".
