Sarasota GOP Will Honor Birther Donald Trump as ‘Statesman of the Year’

Good grief
Wingnuts • Views: 34,953

Man, it’s hard to take seriously a political party that does things like this: Donald Trump Gets ‘Statesman of Year’ Award.

Real estate mogul. Political pundit. “Apprentice” host. Birther. Sometime presidential candidate teaser.

Also: “Statesman.”

That’s the latest title to be bestowed upon Donald Trump when he receives the 2012 “Statesman of the Year” award from the Sarasota Republican Party in August.

Trump has been tapped to receive the award on the day before the Republican National Convention, just 60 miles south of the festivities in Tampa Bay.

Eating pizza with a fork makes one a serious statesman.

The award will be an orange mirro-chrome metallic cup eight and half feet tall, flanked by champagne and chocolate fountains.

Because really, what better way to kick off the crowning of a rich asshole as your party's nominee for the presidency than to crown an even bigger one the day before?

Self congratulatory bullshit. Then you hear them being introduced as "Award Winning Statesman" whomever when they are introduced somewhere. Like buying up pallet loads of books from an author and then introducing them as "Best Selling Author". The sheeple that love titles eat it up, those that know what is really happening stand there and shake their heads and wonder what has become of this world.

Sorry, being a pompous ass -- whose primary response to criticism is to call the critic "a loser" -- does not make one a statesman.

Lake Michigan heats up 10 degrees in 6 days

In addition to scorching the land, last week's heat wave caused warm temperatures in Lake Michigan.

The temperature in the southern portion of Lake Michigan rose 10 degrees last week, reaching the upper 70s, according to the National Weather Service. The south mid-lake buoy, which is monitored by the weather service's office in Chicago, reached 80 degrees. That has only happened six times in the past 31 years and never before this early in the year, the weather service said.

The weather service has more data on the warmth of the lake on its website.

Tea Party Favorite Scott Walker Asks The Feds For Money

Gov. Scott Walker declared a state of emergency in 42 Wisconsin counties Monday in an attempt to get more state and federal resources to farmers whose crops are threatened by drought conditions.

The declaration will allow the state's Department of Natural Resources to expedite permits for farmers to use stream or lake water for irrigation. Walker is also urging farmers to report crop conditions to U.S. Farm Service agents in anticipation of seeking a federal disaster declaration that could provide additional help for farmers.

Koch is skeptical about anthropogenic Global Warming, and thinks a warmer planet would be good because "[t]he Earth will be able to support enormously more people because a far greater land area will be available to produce food".

I'm seriously jealous.

As someone said, she's keeping it. Someone seems to have ripped off the 4" armor plate she put a hole through.

Bflat (my cat) must have done some reading while I was on vacation. I just asked him who his favorite communist leader was and he said, "Mao".

My dog has been watching ESPN. I asked him who the best baseball player was and he said, "Ruth".

There's a joke about that...a guy with a talking dog, so he goes to a bar and says, "My dog can talk." and the dog only says "Ruth" about baseball questions...the bartender throws them out and the dog says to the guy when they're outside, "Damn...I should have said Joe Dimaggio."

I was in the office the night of December 30, 1999. Was supporting the COBOL compiler for the Tandem NonStop systems. If anything was wrong, we expected to see it in New Zealand and Australia that night. Nothing significant wrong, but we and our customers had been working on getting everything fixed for years before. The next day to look out for was March 1, 2000, since it wasn't a leap year. I don't think any February 29 showed up, at least not in system code.

Got a nice jacket out of it, back when we got swag for every milestone.

Don't know Twitter formats. Are the comments in this series supposed to be real or viral humor? It's really sad that someone can ask that question.

Yeah, I thought of that joke when I typed it. But the singing frog cartoon kept popping in my head too. The one that the frog wouldn't sing and dance if anyone other than his owner was watching. Ribbet!

It's humor. Not meant to be an actual quote. The # tag lets you search for a topic. The @ indicates a Twitter user. RT means re-tweet.

I think some of the quotes from the Koch Hampton's fundraiser are presented as actual. They're as crazy as that one.

Maintaining Twitter celibacy.

Lake Michigan heats up 10 degrees in 6 days

My father and I were talking about that yesterday, in relation to how much warmer it was with a wind off of the lake (about 83 by the lake shore) as compared to the normal temp with such a wind in early July (around 76-77 degrees).

Abraham Lincoln, Salmon Chase, William Seward, and Ulysses S. Grant, among many, many other actual great statesmen of the old GOP, are rolling in their graves.
