AP reports that the shooter has been arrested:
COLLEGE STATION, Texas (AP) — Texas A&M University says a shooter has been taken into custody near its campus in College Station.
The university issued a warning on its website just before 12:30 p.m. Monday warning of an active shooter near the campus football stadium, Kyle Field. The warning tells residents and students to avoid the area.
A witness tweets:
I’m right down the street from all the gunshots. I’m ok. Heard about 75 gunshots though. Multiple officers down. Send prayers for victims

One of the police officers who was shot has reportedly died:
One of two officers shot during an incident on Fidelity Street in College Station has died, according to several sources.
The incident appears to have unfolded about 12:15 p.m. at a house in the historical district of the city close to George Bush Drive. The Eagle’s police scanner early on picked up dispatchers saying that two officers were wounded. Initial reports state one was a constable.
Authorities confirmed that the suspect was in custody; it wasn’t clear if gunfire was exchanged. The person apparently was barricaded in a home for a short period.

Police in College Station have now confirmed that two people are dead in this incident: a police officer and a male civilian.
Earlier reports that the gunman had been arrested were mistaken; it’s now confirmed that he was killed in the shootout with police.
According to a county employee, the shooting began when the policeman who was killed tried to serve an eviction notice.
