Well, the Republican Party has pretty much lost every black person in America, so now they’re working on a similar strategy for Latinos by inviting Arizona’s far right anti-immigrant Birther Sheriff Joe Arpaio to speak at the Republican National Convention.

Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio is scheduled to speak to delegates from western states on Aug. 30 during the Republican National Convention, the Arizona Republican Party said in a press release.

“Sheriff Joe is a good friend and a great Republican, a former member of the Electoral College representing Arizona, and he’s wildly popular not just in Maricopa County but throughout the state and the country,” said Tom Morrissey, Chairman of the Arizona Republican Party in the release.

In a tongue-in-cheek move, Arpaio will speak near the elephant enclosure at the Lowry Park Zoo in Tampa, Fla. The elephant is the symbol of the Republican Party.

With Donald Trump also planned to appear, the right wing’s Krazy Konspiracy Krew will be very visible this year.

A little more info about Sheriff Joe: Arpaio Made Joke of Probe in TX Speech.

PHOENIX - An audio recording has surfaced of Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio playing his refusal to cooperate in a racial profiling investigation for laughs at a fundraiser for a Texas anti-illegal-immigration group.

He ridicules politicians who sought the probe and displays contempt for federal authorities who were - and still are - investigating him on two fronts.

The dismissive comments in 2009 by Arpaio came as the U.S. Justice Department had already launched a civil-rights probe of his trademark immigration patrols, and the FBI already was examining abuse-of-power allegations for the sheriff’s investigations of political foes.

In the September 2009 speech in Houston, Arpaio boasted that he arrested hundreds of illegal immigrants after politicians and federal investigators started to pick apart his patrols. He said he wouldn’t cooperate with the inquiry but would tone down the patrols - if he was proven wrong.

“But I’m not. After they went after me, we arrested 500 more just for spite,” the self-proclaimed “America’s toughest sheriff” said, pausing for laughter and applause. …

Arpaio said his only regret in making the speech was that he used the wrong figure for the number of illegal immigrants arrested after the civil-rights inquiry began.

“It was wrong,” Arpaio said. “It wasn’t 500. It was thousands.”
