Chris Matthews Goes Nuclear: GOP Is Playing the Race Card

Matthews at his best
Politics • Views: 44,021

This is an excellent start to the week as Chris Matthews really goes after Reince Priebus, calling out the Republican Party and Mitt Romney for their outrageous racist pandering. This is Matthews at his best, doing what journalists should do, asking tough questions and refusing to take BS for an answer.

Yes, folks. Chris Matthews is absolutely correct. Birtherism is racism.

Priebus: I’m not going to get into a shouting match with Chris.

Matthews: Because you’re losing, that’s why.

Priebus: Garbage.

You just need to learn how to take a joke. But don't ask us to explain it, because it makes us look even more bigoted than we already do.

The Bain ads hit everyone, regardless of race. But blue-collar whites definitely were well targeted.

5 HappyWarrior  Mon, Aug 27, 2012 9:26:23am

Birtherism is rooted in both xenophobia and racism. And the RNC definitely encourages it. Of course, when you acknowledge that you're either a stupid libtard or a real racist for bringing it up.

6 erik_t  Mon, Aug 27, 2012 9:28:04am

Now y'see, I think it's very clear that the GOP does care deeply about black people.

Just look at how hard they're trying to make Michael Steele look competent in retrospect.

"Offensive" is exactly the right word for birther bullshit.

9 AK-47%  Mon, Aug 27, 2012 9:29:55am

I would not equate birtherism directly to racism, but I would equate it to the same narrow-minded idiocy that leads to bigotry and racism...

Time to call the RNC out on this level of low-brow idiocy.

And there is nothing "low-blow" about equating Akin to Ryan, and by association with Romney. It is not like Ryan was simply tainted by association with Akin, they worked together to draft anti-abortion legislation. That represents a very close level of association and common views and values.

Then Priebus really goes out in the weeds by claiming Obama is taking cues from Europe on how to deal with the economy. That's totally wrong. Europe is hell bent on fixing their economy by shrinking it, the same failed strategy that every single GOP candidate has been pushing since GWB left office.
This is advanced projectionism byt the GOP party leader.

Christian Broadcasting Network Wonders if Prayer Moved Storm Away From Tampa to Protect the RNC

Today on the 700 Club, Christian Broadcasting Network correspondent Paul Strand spoke to Jesten Peters of Keys of Authority Ministries who said that her organization’s prayer efforts helped steer Tropical Storm Isaac away from Tampa in order to protect the Republican National Convention. But while Peters and CBN celebrated, Isaac is now heading to Louisiana and Mississippi with potential devastating consequences. CBN’s Pat Robertson in 1985 said that his prayer moved Hurricane Gloria away from Virginia Beach, were CBN is based, and towards New York, and earlier this year said that prayer could’ve stopped a string of deadly tornadoes.

Birthers Plan Their Own Convention Next Month In Arizona

While the Republican Party gears up for its biggest event of the year next week in Florida, the conspiracy theorists among them are already looking forward to another convention of sorts next month in Arizona.

Some of the best known birthers in the nation are scheduled to take the stage at a star-studded event in Phoenix, where they plan to call for Congress to investigate whether President Obama’s birth certificate is real.

There will be singing. There will be speeches. Drinks will be available for purchase. The only question is whether the venue, which features seating in the round, will activate its spinning stage. Promoters are calling it “A Greater Phoenix Tea Party Patriots Event” but you can call it Birtherpalooza.

Now, I know that you have an economic argument about jobs and opportunity, but I'd like you to deal with the social issues aspect of this specifically. How do you answer the Obama charge that they offer more support, more choice to women when it comes to abortion or rape or birth control or women's health care?

ROMNEY: Well, first of all, with regards to women's health care, look, I'm the guy that was able to get health care for all of the women and men in my state. They're just talking about it at the federal level.

I guess Romney was due to flop back to his previous position sooner or later.

the Tea Party Congressman doubled down on the claims in an appearance on “The Final Say” radio show this Thursday. “It’s not the multiculturalism that’s wrong, it’s the victimology, which has been the core of multiculturalism,” King reiterated. “People are being told that it’s not their fault, that it’s somebody else’s…That’s the excuse path. We need to have individual responsibility, a culture that supports it — that celebrates it — and one that discourages the slackers from lining up at the public trough and accepting the benefits of the sweat of someone else’s brow.”

Why Science Remains Culturally Irrelevant

[...]

[Feynman] goes on to take a jab at just how unscientific pop culture is -- and how culturally condoned certain unscientific beliefs are:

I believe that we must attack these things in which we do not believe. Not attack by the method of cutting off the heads of the people, but attack in the sense of discuss. I believe that we should demand that people try in their own minds to obtain for themselves a more consistent picture of their own world; that they not permit themselves the luxury of having their brain cut in four pieces or two pieces even, and on one side they believe this and on the other side they believe that, but never try to compare the two points of view. Because we have learned that, by trying to put the points of view that we have in our head together and comparing one to the other, we make some progress in understanding and in appreciating where we are and what we are. And I believe that science has remained irrelevant because we wait until somebody asks us questions or until we are invited to give a speech on Einstein's theory to people who don't understand Newtonian mechanics, but we never are invited to give an attack on faith healing, or on astrology -- on what is the scientific view of astrology today.

It was spent on levees, but they weren't built or maintained properly, nor were they designed as an actual system. Rather, they were built as segments to deal with specific issues, but never brought together to deal with specific storm situations.

Much of the money spent on the levees since Katrina has been to integrate the system, installing new flood control systems, pumps with backup generators, storm surge diversion systems, and the closure of the MRGO canal with flood protection system installed.

GOP Details Huge Medicare Change In Leaked Platform

“Under the defined contribution approach envisaged by the Rivlin-Ryan plan [a proposal that’s remarkably similar to the Romney campaigns], most of the risk of future health-care cost increases would be shifted onto the shoulders of Medicare beneficiaries,” Uwe Reinhardt, a health policy expert at Princeton University, said last year. “This feature makes the proposal radical.”

The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office has found that the plan will raise seniors’ out-of-pocket medical expenses by thousands of dollars, a fact Democrats hasten to point out. The draft Republican platform claims that the competition among private insurance plans will lead to major cost savings, though little evidence exists to support this argument.

146 darthstar  Mon, Aug 27, 2012 10:45:48am

I was thinking about this last week...even if Tampa was spared by Isaac, its hitting the gulf coast during the convention would pull disaster coverage reporters from the RNC in Tampa to disasters that matter along the coast...

Mitt Romney was quoted as saying, "Can't a robot get a break?"

Isaac is proof that god hates Republicans.

But the series of conversations - occurring just hours later - made clear that the Romney staff also realizes that Isaac’s potentially horrid wrath could eclipse any bunting-draped imagery they generate inside the Tampa Bay Times Forum.

That would render the whole convention exercise a net loss for their candidate, rather than a positive force propelling him into the fall campaign.

Reports saying Christie was offered the VP slot, but turned Mitt down, Ryan was the back up

Gov. Chris Christie wasn’t willing to give up the New Jersey statehouse to be Mitt Romney’s running mate because he doubted they’d win, The Post has learned.

Romney’s top aides had demanded Christie step down as the state’s chief executive because if he didn’t, strict pay-to-play laws would have restricted the nation’s largest banks from donating to the campaign — since those banks do business with New Jersey.

But Christie adamantly refused to sacrifice his post, believing that being Romney’s running mate wasn’t worth the gamble.

“[Christie] felt, at one point, that [President] Obama could lose this. And, look, there still is that chance. But he knows, right now, you have to say it’s unlikely,” one source said.

The tough-talking governor believed Romney severely damaged his campaign by releasing only limited tax returns and committing several gaffes during his international tour in July.

Certain Romney was doomed, Christie stuck to his guns — even as some of his own aides pushed him to run, another source said.

Prosecutor: Ga. murder case uncovers terror plot

LUDOWICI, Ga. —
Four Army soldiers based in southeast Georgia killed a former comrade and his girlfriend to protect an anarchist militia group they formed that stockpiled assault weapons and plotted a range of anti-government attacks, prosecutors told a judge Monday.

Prosecutors in rural Long County, near the sprawling Army post Fort Stewart, said the militia group composed of active duty and former U.S. military members spent at least $87,000 buying guns and bomb components and was serious enough to kill two people - former soldier Michael Roark and his 17-year-old girlfriend, Tiffany York - by shooting them in the woods last December in order to keep its plans secret.

"This domestic terrorist organization did not simply plan and talk," prosecutor Isabel Pauley told a Superior Court judge. "Prior to the murders in this case, the group took action. Evidence shows the group possessed the knowledge, means and motive to carry out their plans."

One of the Fort Stewart soldiers charged in the case, Army Pfc. Michael Burnett, also gave testimony that backed up many of the assertions made by prosecutors. The 26-year-old soldier pleaded guilty Monday to manslaughter, illegal gang activity and other charges. He made a deal to cooperate with prosecutors in their case against the three other soldiers.

The stupid, it burns:

Politico: Karl Rove dings Joe Biden, President Obama on charity

Karl Rove dinged President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden for not contributing enough to charity, comparing their giving to Hillary Clinton’s infamous $2 underwear donation to charity.

“I do pay a higher effective tax rate than President Obama. And I do make more charitable contributions as a percentage of my income than either he or the vice president,” Rove said Monday at the first POLITICO Playbook breakfast at the Republican National Convention.

We only have 1 year where there are income tax returns available for both sides (since Romney's released just the one), and that's 2010.

First, the Romneys:

[Link: www.nytimes.com...]

Mitt Romney and his wife, Ann, made $27 million in 2010. ... The couple’s effective federal tax rate for the year worked out to 13.9 percent, a rate typical of households earning about $80,000 a year.

[Link: www.huffingtonpost.com...]

He and his wife, Ann, donated about 16.4 percent of their adjusted gross income from 2010 to 2011, according to tax records released Tuesday.

The Romney's cash donations included $1.5 million in 2010 and $2.6 million in 2011 to the Mormon church, according to the tax documents.

Next, the Ryans:

[Link: www.boston.com...]

Paul Ryan and his wife paid an effective tax rate of 20 percent last year and 15.9 percent the year before, according to tax returns the presumptive Republican vice presidential nominee released late on Friday afternoon.

Ryan’s tax returns, released through Mitt Romney’s campaign, show that he paid $64,764 in taxes on $323,416 of adjusted gross income in 2011. He and his wife paid $34,233 in taxes on $215,417 of adjusted gross income in 2010.

...

The Ryans donated $12,991 to charity in 2011, and $2,600 to charity in 2010. Those contributions went to such groups as the Boy Scouts of America, Junior Achievement, and Women and Children’s Horizons, according to the campaign.

So that makes ~1.2% of adjusted gross income to charity for Ryan, in 2010.

The Obamas:

[Link: www.nytimes.com...]

The president and his wife, Michelle Obama, on Monday reported an adjusted gross income of $1,728,096 for 2010, down from $5.5 million in 2009. Most of their income came from sales of his books “Dreams From My Father” and “The Audacity of Hope.” The Obamas paid $453,770 in federal taxes, for an effective tax rate of just over 26 percent; the top individual tax rate is 35 percent.

The Obamas donated $245,075 — 14.2 percent of their income before tax deductions and exemptions — to 36 charities. According to the White House, more than half went to the couple’s favorite charity, the Fisher House Foundation, which benefits families of fallen and disabled soldiers; it gets all proceeds from Mr. Obama’s children’s book, “Of Thee I Sing: A Letter to My Daughters,” which was published late last year.

Also, in 2010, President Obama gave an additional 1.4 million to charity:

[Link: voices.washingtonpost.com...]

Three months after receiving the Nobel Peace Prize, President Obama announced Thursday the charities that will benefit from his $1.4 million cash award.

Add that in and for 2010 the Obamas neared 100% donated when compared to income.

Finally, the Bidens:

[Link: www.nytimes.com...]

Compared with the president, Mr. Biden is a pauper. He and his wife had an adjusted gross income of $379,178, most of it his salary. The Bidens paid $86,626 in federal taxes, for an effective tax rate of about 23 percent. They also paid $14,479 in income taxes to Delaware and $3,515 to Virginia, and contributed $5,350 to charity, counting money and in-kind donations.

So the Biden's gave a little over 1.4% to charity, meager by comparison to the tops of the tickets, but still slightly more than the Ryans.

Again, in summary, for 2010:
(Effective Tax Rate%, Charitable Givings %)
Obama : 26% _, 95.2%
Romney: 13.9%, 16.4%
Biden : 23% _, 1.4%
Ryan. : 15.9%, 1.2%

To everyone who says the solution to gun violence is we need more armed people going around...

All Nine Bystanders Injured During Friday’s Empire State Building Shooting Were Shot By Police

Some of the dedicated public servants (I use the term advisedly) at Policeone have tended to either underplay the injuries or mock the civilians who were shot and wonder aloud if they had all wandered into a firefight with their camera phones out.

No doubt, these same folks will tirelessly complain later that the public doesn't give them enough respect.

I 100 agree with SASQUATCH. I can only hope that if he is right and some idiots were trying to tape it, they later write a widely read article and all those other idiots read it. The comfort level people have in interfering with police is climbing every day and this would be a great example of why it should stop. Even better, I hope its one of the "COPBLOCK" people. That'd be freakin amazing.

How many of these yahoos that got hit were in the process of pulling out their cell-phone cameras to video the cops? Seriously, I bet $$ some of these lemmings heard the shots, saw cops running with guns, and rather than duck for cover like an intelligent person, they probably grabbed for their cell-phone cameras. I mean, why take cover? The cops on TV don't have bullets that ricochet. I bet as we see video of this surface, you'll see a bunch of dweebs standing around with their cell-phone cameras out as bullets are flying. They'll be the first ones to scream "foul" on the cops.

"Defense lawyer Ron Kuby noted that bystanders shot in crime-ridden neighborhoods do not usually attract much attention."

Well, gee whiz, Ron. I wonder if that's because the "bystanders" are normally criminals themselves who refuse to cooperate with the police in the resulting investigation. Asshole.

Robert Asika, 23, told the Times he was one of those people grazed by the bullets: “One of the cops shot me in my arm,” he said outside Bellevue Hospital Center, noting the gunman was moving toward him, and suggesting the officers “shot me probably trying to shoot him.” He said he wasn't mad at police: “I get they were doing their job, but they have to be a little more careful when they are aiming the gun at the suspect and not hit the innocent victims,” he said.

But Asika took on a harsher tone in an interview with the Guardian UK, accusing those cops of "shooting randomly", and hitting at least two other people: "If you're gonna aim try and aim perfectly. If you wanna aim at the target, you got to know what you're doing because it's the street," Asika said. "I could have been dead right now. I could have been dead."

The more that idiot talks, the less I feel for him getting shot.

I guess we are supposed to thank officers for shooting bystanders at this point. Otherwise, they get their feelings hurt.

4 soldiers arrested on multiple charges in Georgia. Prosecutors also believe that the group was ultimately intending on assassinating the President.

(snip)

The prosecutor said the militia group had big plans. It plotted to take over Fort Stewart by seizing its ammunition control point and talked of bombing the Forsyth Park fountain in nearby Savannah, she said. In Washington state, she added, the group plotted to bomb a dam and poison the state's apple crop. Ultimately, prosecutors said, the militia's goal was to overthrow the government and assassinate the president.

The Army brought charges against the four accused soldiers in connection with the slayings of Roark and York in March, but has yet to act on them. Fort Stewart spokesman Kevin Larson said he could not comment immediately on the militia accusations that emerged in civilian court Monday.

The group called itself FEAR: short for Forever Enduring Always Ready. The two murders were to eliminate a "loose end". The group recruited disillusioned soldiers or those who were in trouble. No word on the numbers in total recruited.

One of them had help from his wife.

Also charged in the killings is Salmon’s wife, Heather Salmon. Her attorney, Charles Nester, did not immediately return a call seeking comment.

Another one is suspected of killing his wife and using the insurance to buy weapons.

Pauley said Aguigui funded the militia using $500,000 in insurance and benefit payments from the death of his pregnant wife a year ago. Aguigui was not charged in his wife’s death, but Pauley told the judge her death was “highly suspicious.”

She said Aguigui used the money to buy $87,000 worth of semiautomatic assault rifles, other guns and bomb components that were recovered from the accused soldiers’ homes and from a storage locker. He also used the insurance payments to buy land for his militia group in Washington state, Pauley said.

(U//FOUO) DHS/I&A assesses that rightwing extremists will attempt to recruit and radicalize returning veterans in order to exploit their skills and knowledge derived from military training and combat. These skills and knowledge have the potential to boost the capabilities of extremists—including lone wolves or small terrorist cells—to carry out violence. The willingness of a small percentage of military personnel to join extremist groups during the 1990s because they were disgruntled, disillusioned, or suffering from the psychological effects of war is being replicated today.

Malkins poo poo

Yep, no way in hell they were going to recruit ex and disgruntled military personnel.

TAMPA — All credentialed media checking into the Republican National Convention are being given a swag bag featuring brochures and items from various sponsors such as sunglasses and a pocket fan. But the bag also contains a copy of the original hardcover version of Mitt Romney’s book No Apology, in which he suggested his approach to health care in Massachusetts could be accomplished in the rest of the country.

The allusion was later altered for the paperback version of the book, a change that became a contentious issue during the Republican primary.

2012 Republican Convention: Protesters Dressed As Vaginas Greet Delegates

TAMPA -- Giant, walking vaginas have descended upon the Republican National convention.

Several demonstrators from Code Pink, a feminist group, wore frilly pink costumes while others adorned with cardboard cutouts resembling the sexual organ were milling about on Sunday looking for Republicans.

A Florida website called Shark-Tank.net captured video of some of them during their preparation (video below). The protesters carried signs saying such things as: “Read my lips. Leave my vagina alone,” and argued that pro-life Republicans are waging a war against women.

But with the official proceedings, along with two Lynyrd Skynyrd concerts and the premier of an anti-Occupy Wall Street Movie canceled on Sunday and Monday due to weather, it wasn’t until Sunday night at The Welcome Event that the protesters found a large group of Republicans to confront.

As several thousand conventioneers arrived in buses at Tropicana Field, an indoor stadium where baseball’s Tampa Bay Rays play, they were met by about 400 protesters – some of whom were in their vagina costumes. By that time, though, convention-goers hardly took notice of the crowd, and well-armed police and military personnel kept the demonstrators away from the party inside the stadium.

The latest LV Florida & NC poll:

[Link: thehill.com...]

The CNN/Time/ORC poll found that 50 percent of likely voters in Florida would vote for Obama and Biden while 46 percent would vote for Romney and Ryan. The Monday poll's findings come on the first day of the RNC in Tampa, Fla. Among registered voters the gap is wider in Obama's favor. The poll also found that 51 percent of registered voters would vote to reelect the president while 42 percent would vote for Romney and Ryan.

Interestingly, among voters 50 years old and older, a crucial voting bloc in Florida, Obama and Biden and Ryan and Romney are essentially tied, with the Republican presidential team leading 49 percent to 47 percent. But among Floridians under 50, Obama and Biden lead 54 percent to 41 percent.

In North Carolina, the location of the 2012 Democratic National Convention, the race is tighter. The poll found 47 percent for Obama and Biden among likely voters and 48 percent for Romney and Ryan. But among registered voters, Obama and Biden just barely lead Romney and Ryan, 48 percent to 46 percent.

Romney needs Florida in any realistic path to victory, which perhaps argues in favor of holding the convention there.

Tea Party blames Public schools for electing Obama

Conservative talk show host Neal Boortz, speaking at yesterday’s Unity Rally 2012 in Tampa ahead of the Republican National Convention, denounced public schools as “government schools” that are “forced upon us.” Boortz blamed “100 years of government education” for bringing America “to the point that a man like Barack Obama could be sworn in as president of the United States.”

Boortz directed the crowd to change the way they speak about public schools – calling them “government schools” instead. He also called on the audience to “preach school choice,” by which meant efforts to defund public schools and provide taxpayer dollars for religious and private schools and homeschooling.

GOP Details Huge Medicare Change In Leaked Platform

Republicans want to turn it into a partially privatized system that pays seniors a fixed amount to buy their own health insurance (i.e. “defined contribution”).

“Under the defined contribution approach envisaged by the Rivlin-Ryan plan [a proposal that’s remarkably similar to Romney’s], most of the risk of future health-care cost increases would be shifted onto the shoulders of Medicare beneficiaries,” Uwe Reinhardt, a health policy expert at Princeton University, said last year.

We live about 15 miles north of the Gulf so storm surge isn't a concern. Flooding may be an issue but we aren't that close to any lakes or rivers either so we should be ok. This house survived Katrina with nothing more than some roof damage.

Our major concern is wind and tornadoes. I've been busy stuffing away just about anything in the yard/garage area that could become a dangerous projectile.

I plan to take some photos/videos during the storm. Hopefully I'll have some interesting stuff to show you when it's over.

Queens State Senator Charged in Corruption Investigation

MINEOLA, N.Y. — Shirley L. Huntley, a Democratic state senator from Queens, was accused by prosecutors on Monday of taking part in a scheme involving the misuse of money intended for a nonprofit group that was supposed to help guide parents through the New York City school system.

The charges against Ms. Huntley, who surrendered at the Nassau County court complex in Mineola, included tampering with evidence, conspiracy in the fifth degree and falsifying business records. The charges were filed by Eric T. Schneiderman, the New York attorney general, who was scheduled to hold a news conference on Monday afternoon to provide more details.

Ms. Huntley did not speak to reporters after she was charged, and she was surrounded by supporters who kept journalists from getting too close to her.

Pennsylvania GOP Senate Candidate: Getting Pregnant From Rape Is ‘Similar’ To Having A Baby Out Of Wedlock

Tom Smith, the Republican challenging Sen. Bob Casey’s (D-PA) seat, suggested that having a child out of wedlock was analogous to rape during an interview with a reporter at a press club this afternoon, claiming that it would have a “similar” effect on a father:

MARK SCOLFORO, ASSOCIATED PRESS: How would you tell a daughter or a granddaughter who, God forbid, would be the victim of a rape, to keep the child against her own will? Do you have a way to explain that?

SMITH: I lived something similar to that with my own family. She chose life, and I commend her for that. She knew my views. But, fortunately for me, I didn’t have to.. she chose they way I thought. No don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t rape.

SCOLFORO: Similar how?

SMITH: Uh, having a baby out of wedlock.

SCOLFORO: That’s similar to rape?

SMITH: No, no, no, but… put yourself in a father’s situation, yes. It is similar. But, back to the original, I’m pro-life, period.

Well, from a strictly scientific standpoint, they are correct.

From a strictly scientific standpoint, there is no difference between Kanye West and Mozart, either.

From a strictly scientific standpoint, Shakespeare did almost no work, because work is defined as moving mass over space, so every dockhand living back then did more work than he did.

Science is a narrowly defined thing, and doesn't particularly care about human emotions.

re: #326 NJDhockeyfan

That's a similar situation to that of Pedro Espada. These politicians create nonprofit organizations, and then funnel funds to them - member items in NYS. In Espada's case, he was found guilty of federal charges of embezzling funds in his nonprofit health care group (Soundview), but his relative had a mistrial. Espada stocked the nonprofit with relatives, and even sought to have the nonprofit cover his legal fees.

It remains to be seen whether Huntley's case is nearly as strong as Espada's. However, she's got the nepotism angle covered (she steered tons of money to her daughter and husband) in violation of campaign finance laws.

It's an all too common situation in the NYS legislature - members create nonprofits and then funnel funds to them while employing friends and family.

At the same time, you've got a major Assembly Democrat bigwig, Vito Lopez, who was just censured over a sexual harassment mess and stripped of his committee chairmanship - all while it came out that the Speaker's Office had previously settled on similar charges with other accusers.

Well, that's really misleading to add Collector's Of Curios & Relics (FFL Type 3) in there. We are not allowed to have a storefront and can only use it for firearms that are more than 50 years old or have been specially designated and are not covered under the NFA. All other guns must be purchased at a FFL 1 like any other customer. I use mine to collect Mauser made and Mauser clone weapons, for example. But if I wanted to open a store "Old Willie's Old Mausers" forex, I'd have to apply for a Type 1 FFL like any other gunstore.

Obama played the birther thing masterfully. Rove is right: he could have quashed it at the outset, and Rove tried warning his fellow Republicans that it was a "trap" being set by Obama.

It was more of a Wile E. Coyote vs. Roadrunner thing: Obama just let it run out until the Right was so heavily invested in it that they could not back down from it once he finally did release it.

And now the boulder has rolled up the cliff side and is about to roll back down on the Coyote...

re: #409 Lidane

The POTUS has been so quiet about the birhter loons that he's making money off them in his campaign store and openly joking about it.

And making his campaign song of the day- Born in the USA. Honestly even if he were being quiet on it like Rove falsely says, that's not egging them on. Did Karl's boss, Bush encourage 9/11 truthers by not saying repeatedly the the government didn't let 9/11 happen on purpose? Of course not because it's not the president's job to tell a bunch of crazy wackjobs they're crazy. Now if you want to have fun with it like Obama's campaign has, go for it.

I hope everyone realizes that that's a parody account...

The article he links to is real, though.

Boehner: Minorities Won't Turn Out for Obama

re: #408 Gus

Outrage!

I Tweeted it like this, "Boehner: Minorities Won't Turn Out for Obama." Read it. Didn't see anything about "hope." Although I'm sure he probably would hope for that. Much like "I hope pro-lifers don't show up to vote for Romney." No biggie.

No "hope", but his observation is well justified: minorities will not be out in the same strength as they were in 2008, and Mitt's only hope is to get enough white people outraged enough to go out and vote for him.

Obama follows the advice of the Little Corporal: "Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake."

I have a hard time believing Boehner understands minority voters and if they're going to turn out in November. Whole thing just comes across as Boehner talking out of his ass and an acknowledgment that his party sucks with minority voters.

Bachmann should say something historical and topical like "We're going to stand our ground like Custer!"

I'd say more an admission that the GOP knows there's nothing they can offer minority voters and so they must settle for hoping that minorities don't show up at the polls in large enough numbers to overcome the outraged white vote.

Reince Priebus looks like the kind of guy who lures children into vans with promises of candy.

See what I did there, Reincey? I played your game! How does it taste?

Sure, that works as well. They're the party of angry old white guys at this point.

Haha, yeah, it's getting to the point of where we shouldn't be shocked by any of this anymore but damn. A photo of the president looking at the moon in awe and wonder upsets them? Just sad.

Imagine the outrage if it had happened to be a *crescent* moon!

Rush Limbaugh Suggests Obama Manipulated Hurricane Predictions To Get GOP To Cancel Convention

What do you expect when they keep using those socialist European models for the tracking?

428 Patricia Kayden  Mon, Aug 27, 2012 2:34:24pm

Have always loved Matthews. Sometimes he's too passionate and speaks out of turn, but generally a cool dude. But it's about to get much worst. I'm sure that with all the money pouring into the Republican convention this week, we're going to be inundated by ugly race baiting ads.
Romney and his billionaire pals have only just begun.
