Limbaugh: Obama Can’t Fill “Black Panther Stadium” - “Doesn’t Have Slave Blood”

What right wing racism?
Wingnuts • Views: 27,766

The DNC has moved its Thursday night events (including Barack Obama’s speech) from the outdoor Bank of America Stadium to the indoor Time Warner Cable Arena, due to forecasts of thunder showers. This, of course, has driven the wingnut crowd berserk with conspiracy theories about the real reason for the move.

Bank of America Stadium is often referred to as “Panther Stadium” for its home team, and in this clip, ever-repulsive right wing caveman Rush Limbaugh calls it “Black Panther Stadium.”

Limbaugh’s race-baiting was especially venomous today; he also said Obama isn’t “down with the struggle” because he “doesn’t have slave blood.” Yeesh.

Oh, Rush...just fuck the fuck off.

3 HappyWarrior  Wed, Sep 5, 2012 1:06:43pm

And Boehner meets with this guy why? Seriously as much as I would like to just deride Rush as a pathetic joke and he is one, he's one that has real influence.

"Slave blood"?

Good goddamn.

What an asshole.

6 Dark_Falcon  Wed, Sep 5, 2012 1:11:05pm

Rush just opens his mouth and BAM! Shit comes out. I tried watching him when he was on TV, and he was too long on look-at-me and too short on facts. Glad I figured that out early on, sick that he's gotten worse over the years.

Rush is starting to understand that he lives in a tiny little bubble and that while he's huffing paint and shrieking for 3 hours a day, he's not able to move the needle Romney's way. It must be driving him insane and I'm loving it.

12 Bulworth  Wed, Sep 5, 2012 1:15:37pm

How dare these media matters people quote directly what Rushbo says. /

13 HappyWarrior  Wed, Sep 5, 2012 1:16:40pm

Rush wants Obama to win. Obama wins and four more years of bitching. Romney wins and he has to defend him. Which is more fun?

14 calochortus  Wed, Sep 5, 2012 1:16:57pm

I listened to Rush a few times a couple decade ago around the time his first book came out. I was living in a pretty conservative area and he was a big deal. My conclusion? He was boring. Now, I know it's hard to fill a 3 hour time slot day after day with interesting chit chat and phone calls, but he just isn't up to the task. So he goes with more and more outrageous.
What amazes me is that people actually waste their time with him.

15 Bulworth  Wed, Sep 5, 2012 1:18:15pm

"Black Panther Stadium"

Hah, that's very clever, Rushy. And to think there are some people who would try to get Rushy taken off Armed Forces Radio or, heaven forbid, resurrect something called the Fairness Doctrine or whatever it is, making it less likely all true Amercians would hear the wit and wisdom of someone like Rushy. //

re: #13 HappyWarrior

This is logical. If Romney wins, Rush is going to have to retarget to whatever high-ranking Democrats remain until the next election slag-cycle starts. That's inherently less headline worthy.

Unless he decides to, say, shift to targeting women or one minority full time.

17 HappyWarrior  Wed, Sep 5, 2012 1:19:39pm

Honestly even if I were a conservative, I'd find Rush sad and pathetic. Really if there's anyone in American conservatism who makes conservatives look like reactionary racist bigots, look no further than El Rush, a man who goes out of his way to be a bigoted asshole. Well it's his job. He's a professional asshole.

That would be true no matter who the GOP ran, and I've been saying that for over a year. It's much more fun to be a "voice of opposition" if you're a show host. If your side has to actually do something you end up spending a fair bit of time carrying water for politicians.

The only thing worse than Rush are people who actually listen to him.

There's a chance Limbaugh could be playing out a lucrative role; his fan base have no financial motive for hearing repeating his ugly bigoted statements.

34 Tigger2  Wed, Sep 5, 2012 1:26:36pm

I guess he was trying to say Obama couldn't fill the stadium because of low enthusiasm of the base, using Limballs reasoning the Republicans must have canceled the first day of their convention because of low enthusiasm of their base.

With Rush its real. The Onion doesn't try to satirize him, because they know he might actually do what they'd joke about him doing. Instead, Rush himself is a satire of a human being.

Most of what Limbaugh says is to avoid dead air. The content doesn't matter, just the sound. His listeners fill in the meaning like trained seals.

Remember when Paul Ryan wasn't actually aware that he was requesting stimulus funds?

On December 10, 2010, Ryan penned a letter to the Department of Health and Human Services to recommend a grant application for the Kenosha Community Health Center, Inc to develop a new facility in Racine, Wisconsin, an area within Ryan’s district. “The proposed new facility, the Belle City Neighborhood Health Center, will serve both the preventative and comprehensive primary healthcare needs of thousands of new patients of all ages who are currently without healthcare,” Ryan wrote.

The grant Ryan requested was funded directly by the Affordable Care Act, better known simply as healthcare reform or Obamacare.

Obama Camp Fights Ohio’s Move To Ignore Early Voting Ruling

In its filing Wednesday, the Obama campaign pointed out that Ohio had not sought an actual stay of Economus’ decision, and instead “appears to believe it can issue [a stay] on its own authority.” The Obama campaign said Husted’s memo does not “identify the legal basis for this extraordinary action,” and argued that the memo conflicts with a well-established principle that orders based on a court decision are to be respected until an appeals court rules on the matter.

It's also one of the reasons he's so popular within his demographic. Freepers Excited About Prospects Of New Civil War, Yet Again

...they are ever vigilant for the first glimmer of a chance to actually refresh the Tree of Liberty with the blood of tyrants, or at least to talk about what they’ll do for sure when SHTF, which they are totally ready for. Heck, their bloodthirsty desire for serious concern about a second Civil War is so deep that FR even uses a “CW2″ tag so readers can keep track of the many posts on the topic. The latest addition to the ouvre is “When The Music Stops — How America’s Cities May Explode In Violence,” by one Matt Bracken, which originally ran on the Western Rifle Shooters Assn. blog. Mr. Bracken is also the author of the “Enemies Foreign And Domestic” trilogy of novels, which is, surprisingly, self-published, and which absolutely does not simply scream “Turner Diaries fanfic.”

Mr. Bracken believes that the coming Troubles will be ignited when “a cascading economic crisis, even a temporary one, leads to millions of EBT (electronic benefit transfer) cards flashing nothing but zeroes” and/or the supermarkets stop accepting the worthless funds that are not backed up by gold or something. (The details of how the economy would collapse to this degree are not important, because he wants to move along to the rioting).

Then, once the minorities find that they can’t get food with their food stamps, they will go on a looting rampage, like they do. Again, never mind that not quite half of food stamp recipients are white, or that 41% of families using the program also have some employment income — those are minor distractions that get in the way of the fun tactical narrative about urban warfare that Mr. Bracken would like to focus on, thank you. Once The Blacks (Bracken prefers the military-thriller-sounding acronym “MUY” — “Minority Urban Youths”) have looted all the grocery and convenience stores and there’s no more food, then “A single truck loaded with food or gasoline would be perceived to be a Fort Knox on wheels and subject to immediate attack” — yes, you should now be thinking of Reginald Denny during the LA Riots! Also, Mr. Bracken would like you to know that he is Not Being Racist, Just Being A Realist Who Recognizes The Harsh Realities:

If you keep going on the article, you get excerpts, which amount to a fantasy about gunning down rioting minorities who will, of course, be disorganized and primitive and thus incapable of withstanding assault by prepared white armed individuals standing their ground. Including the charming acronyms Suburban Armed Vigilantes and Minority Urban Youth.

In many ways I am a conservative. I used to listen to Rush a lot when my job had me on the road a lot. When he was just in Sacramento. I could listen to his whole show without a major flinch. now I just find him embarrassing.

The wife and I tried to listen to pass the time of a 467 mile drive just this past Friday. No can do. He's awful. I was better off with road noise. I have got to get a radio in the truck that docks an Ipod! Or something.

98 Lidane  Wed, Sep 5, 2012 2:05:34pm

Poor Mitt. $100 million spent on the RNC and this was the result:

Too bad for Chris Christie, too. All that yelling and posturing for 2016 and Invisible Obama beat him as well.

One thing for sure: Rush is hoping Obama wins so he has material for the next four years.

Same with Fox. Despite the constant shilling I suspect MSNBC would be more than happy for the ratings boost if Mitt wins.

Satellite radio and put it on one of the commercial-free music channels. Failing that, an iPod dock and an audiobook that both you and the wife want to listen to will work wonders.

My drives to see my mom are 350+ miles each way. Satellite radio and audiobooks are a blessing for those long road trips.

Freepers Excited About Prospects Of New Civil War, Yet Again

If you keep going on the article, you get excerpts, which amount to a fantasy about gunning down rioting minorities who will, of course, be disorganized and primitive and thus incapable of withstanding assault by prepared white armed individuals standing their ground. Including the charming acronyms Suburban Armed Vigilantes and Minority Urban Youth.

Racist gun porn. That's exactly what it is.

I've hated Rush since I first heard him at age 11. He sounds like the men my mother used to have to do business with, except Standards and Practices didn't keep them from calling my mom (and any competent woman in business) bitches.

Actually, she still does periodically, and at 70 the local good ol' boys are still calling her a bitch and wondering if she's a slut (mostly because she's like ten times more competent than they). They're also still listening to Rush.

Nah. It's just a subtrope of the standard "blacks are irrational and animal-like" concept. You'll find the same idea reading British authors about tribes they were warring with in Africa. It was very important to establish that the black folks with Iron-Age tech weren't ever outthinking the white folks. It was also a great excuse for shooting indiscriminately into crowds.

Shooting black people in a scenario where they get to prove their superiority in intelligence and martial skill.

My "potential" wasn't given to me by "god." What a stupid thing to put in there just to appease people who, for some reason, have to have "god" in every single thing that has to do with government. For fuck's sake. I'm disgusted.

Wish I could agree, but the guy gives one of two major political parties in this country their marching orders. He has 20 million listeners.

What he says is very important....and it's important that his incendiary bull shit isn't kept in a GOP bubble for the same reason that I wish Charles would have posted about the hateful comments on right-wing sites regarding MO's speech

The Flesch-Kincaid is just a measure of work counts for sentences and syllables for words. E. Hemingway novels routinely come in at like the 4th grade level and so does Twain.

Um, no. Citations, please?

To test this hypothesis, I took the first three paragraphs of Life on the Mississippi and ran them through an online readibility checker. The Flesch Kincaid level was 13, roughly equivalent to freshman year in college.

Doing the same for the first three paragraphs of The Old Man and the Sea, the result was 10.48, almost 11th grade reading level.

You get an F. Try again.

re: #30 S'latch

It's weird. Whatever Rush Limbaugh was saying here does not make very much sense to me. I hear the racial innuendos, but other than that, I doesn't seem like he has a significant point to make. Maybe it is all for the sake of the racial innuendos.

He just sort of foams. Most days he doesn't have a point per se, just "Look at all the people who are out to get you in some way. Let me say offensive things about them."
