But wait … it gets even better:

You have to wonder how Mitt Romney would react to being hugged like that.

It’s ridiculous to even speculate, of course, because no one would want to.

UPDATE at 9/9/12 1:45:34 pm

Meanwhile, at a diner in Ohio, the real Joe Biden and the Onion Joe Biden converge:

Mitt would probably demand that the Secret Service have a tighter circle of security around him.

In a similar vein, Fark's headline for yesterday's Obama appearance where he made the birther joke:

Stop me if you've heard this one: Barack Obama walks into a bar, cheers the local University's home team, slams a beer, serenades a young woman in song, oodles over some babies, and leaves the place in laughter with a carefully placed birther joke

That's a hell of a hug. I still think Biden making on biker chicks wins, though.

This is a large part of the reason why Obama is still competitive, because he has that charisma that allows people to see him as a person, as the kinda guy who you wouldn't mind having a beer with and shooting the shit. It's the kinda thing that helps incumbents smooth over hard times, by connecting to voters on an equal level.

Obama is a good man. And how funny that Mitt makes us think that Obama is someone we can have a beer with. When that was the litmus test between Bush and Kerry.

And honestly, Bush was a good man too. I never despised Bush as a person. And I've been an admirer of Laura Bush for a long time. My sister met Bush at a gym in Florida once. She walked away from the encounter realizing that he was much smarter than he put out there, and played at the whole "you're smarter than me, can you explain this xyz thingy because I'm just a stupid cowboy" schtich really well. My sister is a sharp observer of people.

But Obama. He wants what I want. He wants things to be *fair*.

So, these pictures are great. And they make me smile. Because they remind me that the President is a person and he's got a hard job and people other than just me appreciate him and the crap he has to deal with. But if Mitt Romney supported the policies and ideologies that I support, I wouldn't be unhappy with him if he were completely and totally uncomfortable with receiving a Big Hug. I'd find his awkwardness charming. So, these pictures say more about me than Obama.

And with all the funny Biden jokes circulating, let's not forget how much of a fucking master Joe Biden is with foreign affairs. And women's issues. He's a good guy and a mensch, but he's also a freaking serious public servant.

No it's not. It's the kind of humanizing everyman stuff that Obama and Biden excel at without really trying but that Romney wouldn't even attempt because of his own superiority and personal boundary issues.

Obama gets picked up by a supporter.

Biden kisses a supporter.

Romney tells a supporter that her cookies taste like they came from the 7-11.

Outrages all.

Blast from the past:

Re: Graeme Frost

It turns out–as it does with so many health care stories pimped by the Democrats and the MSM–that there is much more to the Frosts’ story than meets the eye.

The family is not as destitute as the MSM has made them out to be. FreeRepublic member icwhatudo asks the tough questions the mainstream media won’t ask. Like why a “working family” in need of government-subsidized health care can afford to send two children to a $20,000-a-year-private school....

.....It’s par for the course. The use of Graeme Frost was part of a larger left-wing strategy to hide behind children and use them as cannon fodder in their losing bid to get S-CHIP passed into law.

Yeah. I came up with some suggestions for encouraging him to adopt more typical behaviors, at least occasionally, with an eye to the fact that he's almost kindergarten age...and I'm thinking "WTF? Who in God's name is it going to hurt if this kid shows up for kindergarten in a dress?" (Unfortunately, the person who is likely to get hurt is him.)

The reported family responses are interesting. The mother is worried, the grandma says her son was just like this and he grew out of it. The mom points out that her brother is gay, and what if the kid is too?

(This is a mockup for class, I'm not telling tales on real clients here.)

Speaking of, I gotta repost this beauty.

Then a bunch of real meatheads came by, I asked them to be quiet, and they told me to go fuck myself and to “shut up fat man I will fuck your fat wife, this is a college town.” So I did what most reasonable people would do- I told them to come over to me (“Come here, tough guy…”). They did, I asked them their names, and then I asked them if they were hungry and thirsty, invited them in, fed them some lasagna and a bunch of water, and we watched some tube and I talked to them for a while. I explained to them that I have one neighbor who is 65+, another who is in her 80’s, and that yes, this is a college town, but there is just no reason to be loud and a douchebag just because you are young. I also had it noted on the record that I, myself, had had 3 vodkas and a couple glasses of wine, but I felt no reason to be in the middle of the street yelling. Why? Because people who can handle their drink actually act like, well, adults. Not to mention no college girl wants to deal with a sloppy, violent and out of control drunk.

The river that DID run red: Residents of Chinese city left baffled after Yangtze turns scarlet

It is the last thing the residents of Chongqing would have expected to see.

But the Yangtze river, which runs through the city in south-western China, turned a bright shade of orange-red yesterday.

The waterway where the Yangtze met the Jialin River provided a fascinating contrast as the red started to filter into the other river.

While officials investigate the cause of the colouring, one fisherman went about his daily business as if nothing had happened.

Others were so amazed that they collected samples in water bottles.

Although the cause is yet to be determined, this is not the first time a river has turned red in China.

Last December, the Jian River in the city of Luoyang, in the north Henan province, turned red after becoming polluted by a powerful dye.

The dye was being dumped into the city's storm drain network by two illegal dye workshops.

Officials raided the factories to shut them down, and then disassembled their machinery.

According to chapter 16, verse 4 of the Bible's book of Revelations, one of the signs that Armageddon is near will be an angel pouring a bowl into the rivers, turning them into blood.

"The moving Moon went up the sky,
And no where did abide:
Softly she was going up,
And a star or two beside—

Her beams bemocked the sultry main,
Like April hoar-frost spread;
But where the ship's huge shadow lay,
The charmèd water burnt away
A still and awful red
."
