Some commented earlier on an apparent "flop" by Romney this morning on MTP, in talking about Obamacare.
Well, it looks like it was a faux-flop, or maybe a temporary state not unlike an excited electron. Anyway:
Eliana, I reached out to the Romney campaign for clarification about Mitt Romney’s remarks this morning about liking some parts of Obamacare. An aide pointed out that Romney first said on Meet the Press that “I say we are going to replace Obamacare. And I am replacing it with my own plan.”
In reference to how Romney would deal with those with preexisting conditions and young adults who want to remain on their parents’ plans, a Romney aide responded that there had been no change in Romney’s position and that “in a competitive environment, the marketplace will make available plans that include coverage for what there is demand for. He was not proposing a federal mandate to require insurance plans to offer those particular features.”
I'm dizzy.

Yeah, the market will take care of it,that's why people are dying because they have no insurance or going bankrupt even with insurance. This from a guy who could easily pay cash for any serious medical problem and not have to worry about a fucking thing. God this irks me to no end.
The first time my husband was rushed to the hospital with a heart attack,we had pretty decent insurance. It still cost us a nice chunk of change. When our son was little,he needed various therapies. At first the insurance company assigned us a nurse to help us through all the hoops and loops to help us get him what he needed. A week later we got a letter withdrawing that help. I ended up not going back to work and researching and talking to professionals in the school system to find out what these therapies entailed so I could do them myself. Yeah, the market was a big fucking help Mitt.
I wish guys like this had all their shit taken away from them for a year, just so they could grow some fucking empathy.

Business Insider makes a good point:
Put differently, the Republican party ideology is now dominated by extremists whose views are not shared by the swing voters in the center.
Some of the key constituencies Romney is alienating who have helped Republicans win in the past, Silver says, include:-Hispanics, who don't like Romney's embrace of the right-wing anti-immigration stance.
-Midwest "Reagan Democrats" who aren't crazy about Romney's opposition to the auto bailouts.
-"Security moms," who aren't hearing much national-security talk from Romney.
-Highly educated, fiscally conservative, social progressives who support some of Romney's economic policies but don't like his stance on gay marriage, abortion, and other issues that restrict choice and increase the government's intrusion into citizens lives.
This last group in particular, Silver says, was critical to Romney's election victory in Massachusetts. But now, because Romney has changed his stance on some of these issues to appeal to the right-wing of the Republican party, Romney is alienating a centrist constituency that could help him win the Presidency.
Basically it all comes down to Romney having painted himself into a corner, and being unwilling to re-moderate his position because he's already picked up a reputation of being an unprincipled flip flopper. His position is made even worse by the fact that the majority of own party neither trusts nor likes him very much and stand ready to condemn any further attempts at triangulation.

Hey everyone...busy day today so I missed out on the festival of fail that is the Romney campaign. I understand he went on MTP where David Gregory gently cupped his balls while Ann looked on approvingly, and that he said he wouldn't repeal all of Obamacare, which of course got his campaign to release a statement saying their candidate (and I paraphrase here) "doesn't understand a fucking thing about his positions".
Anyway, I'm guessing the over on this question is going to be around 9.

Looks like in this election we will see if elections really can be bought. Looking at Nate Silver's analysis of Romney's current standing in the states he has to win to reach 270, Florida and NC are virtual toss-ups, he is behind in Va, Oh, Ia and Co, and has virtually no chance of winning in Nv, Ws, Mi or NH. No challenger who didn't take a lead in the polls during his convention bounce has ever won the presidency. Romney isn't likeable and can't make a compelling case for his election, so he only has two things going for him. One, the economy remains sluggish and two, the plutocrats who own the GOP are willing to spend an almost unlimited amount of money to defeat Obama. Massively outspending his opponents is how Romney won the nomination. The difference this time is that Obama is a far superior opponent to Gingrich or Santorum, and he will have a fair amount of money to spend as well. If there is any limit to Romney's money, things should be evened up a bit because he will have to spend a huge amount in Florida, and to a lesser extent in NC, because Romney must win those states, while Obama can spend less there and focus on his key states, Co, Ia, Oh and Va. Similarly, if Romney tries to expand his map and spends heavily in Nv, Ws, Mi and NH, Obama should be able to defend his existing leads there for less money. In addition, billionaires don't get that way by wasting money, and if they decide Romney is a bad investment, they may close their wallets. Finally there should be diminishing returns for each additional dollar spent for Romney; eventually you have to get to a point of oversaturation in advertising beyond which the spending is no longer moving voters. So I am hopeful this election can't be bought, but only the next eight weeks will tell.

Incredible photographs show the horrifying moment a government tank blast killed three rebel fighters in the battered Syrian city of Aleppo.
The series of haunting images tell a tragic tale, first showing a calm street scene, then the terrifying moment the tank fire lands, followed by the chaotic aftermath of the hit.
The powerful photographs, which shine a harsh light on the brutality of daily lives for Syrians under President Bashar Assad’s regime, were captured by Tracey Shelton, a correspondent for the GlobalPost.
