This is how desperate they've become in the wake of the reality that Romney is a dud as a candidate. One poll actually showed that 10% more people were less likely to vote for Romney as a result of the convention than vote for him. He has to win over a minimum of 61% of the white vote to have a chance on Election Day. The party's decided that this will come by working the wingnuts into a lather.

Lot of groups in India, all kinds and flavors.
South Asia comprises India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and several small nations. All told they make up almost 1/5th of the world's population.
And that is important to us.
For example, all the hand wringing over Iran. How many times do you see laments over Iran still being able to sell all the oil they can pump? Americans like to think we should be able to just turn it off. Yet all those people in Asia need, need, every last drop of oil Iran (or any other close nation) can produce. There were talks about building pipelines straight to India from Iran via Pakistan - I don't know where that lead to, but it shows where the direction is heading for MidEast oil.
Just wait until the "Foreign Policy" debate coming up in October. I wonder how many questions will really challenge the candidates to address the big problems, or if it will just turn out to be an exercise in American narcissism.

My ideal of the USA and Iran is us helping them build nuclear power plants.
A few years back, in the Bush administration, some were pushing an idea where Russia, US, and Japan would enter into an agree with Iran where the US and Japan would construct nuclear power plants there, and Russia (and maybe Japan) would recycle the nuclear fuel. That ran into hurdles of course, but the idea was to undermine the argument (based on the real need) that Iran needed more electricity generation capability and thus had to build their own nuclear plants.

The GOP doesn't deal in facts. They deal in Truthiness. They deal in whatever will get the drooling knuckle-dragging base riled up and pissed off at the black guy. And they're doing it because that's all they've got to run on, since Mitt Romney has been running the most idea free campaign I've seen in decades.

You may have noted that a big part of President Obama’s bid for re-election hinges on Joe Biden’s gleeful statement that “Bin Laden is dead and GM is alive.” That’s a convenient sound bite. Bin Laden is in fact dead, and while President Obama deserves some credit for giving the order to proceed (not without some controversy regarding taking more credit than is his due), as for GM, Mitt Romney’s prediction in his New York Times op ed piece, often vilified by the Obama administration, seems strangely prescient today:
...
The National Review yesterday tore into Obama's auto bailout. It noted that the auto bailout was an odd duck from the beginning, and so it's an especially unusual corner piece to a re-election campaign. The bailouts were unpopular at the time they were implemented, and even those in favor of them were wary of their “moral hazard” (incentive for other industries to take similar risks, knowing the government would bail them out, too). The auto industry was also allocated funds under TARP, which was created to solve the problems related to the bursting of the real estate bubble, not auto manufacturers' lack of competitiveness.
Interestingly, the National Review points out that it was not even President Obama, but President Bush that first initiated the auto bailout. So if a president deserves credit, it does not all belong to Obama. President Obama’s distinguishing addition was the end run around the standard bankruptcy process in order to serve one of his primary constituencies, the UAW ...
[blah, blah, blah]

It's worth noting that Romney's statement is similarly outrageous to the Priebus tweet. The only difference is Romney includes the entire administration in his charge:
Romney: "It's disgraceful that the Obama Administration's first response was not to condemn attacks on our diplomatic missions, but to sympathize with those who waged the attacks."
Both baselessly accused the POTUS & his administration of sympathizing with the killers who just murdered one of his / their own.

Now, if a 9/11-style attack happened, the GOP would probably immediately impeach Obama.

Certainly Obama would get blamed and we'd see little of the bipartisan support that Bush got. Once you've decided that Obama hates America, he can't do anything right. He can't even kill bin Laden right. See Cheney, Dick--upset that Obama is taking credit for getting bin Laden. As if presidents weren't entitled to take credit for things they do while in office.
How many Muslims does Obama have to kill before the Right stops accusing him of having a soft spot for terrorists? I suppose that's a trick question since the answer is infinity.

A really desperate strategy. Its chances of succeeding seem weak. If the US seems threatened and Obama takes action, it just gives him a chance to flex his muscles, and the public tends to rally around a president in such times. At least as long as there's no invasion with troops on the ground.
But even if the US doesn't seem threatened, it's not likely to hurt him if we start bombing someone in the Middle East. I don't think his approval numbers were at all affected by the aerial campaign over Libya. And he's certainly not about to start talking about putting more boots on the ground anywhere.

The worst part of it is the "Film leads to a Muslim attack on the US" bit. That's an incredibly bigoted and irresponsible way to put it.
It does not help that a lot of Muslim nations have no tradition of Free Speech: a lot of uneducated people there assume that anything that is published must have the approval of the government.
A lot of educated people there know that is not the case, but go along with it to incite the masses.

11.57 Reuters are reporting that a senior Libyan official has blamed the attack on supporters of the former Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, who was killed last October by rebel fighters.
Deputy Interior Minister Wanis al-Sharif said the attackers had used rocket-propelled grenades.
"There were RPGs...which shows there were forces exploiting this. They are remnants of the (former) regime," he said.
He reportedly suggested that the attackers could have acted in revenge for the extradition from Mauritania this month of Gaddafi's former intelligence chief Abdullah al-Senoussi.

This is really sad. These countries are doing a delicate dance on a knife's edge. It is idiotic that militias and mobs use films and other episodes of free speech to justify these tragedies. I think it is also important to remember that free speech has consequences. Not every culture nor every country has a tradition of free speech. In many instances the sword is the arbiter of right and wrong. This is antiquated, and wrong, but in a culture that has been repressed by force for so long it is not unexpected. It behooves those of us in the West to remember that there are Westerner's that do our work in harms way each and every day. We should not be so callous with our free speech in ways which put them in danger. Of course we have the right to free speech. But we should not be that shocked when our speech is met with violence in other parts of the world that don't have the same traditions. In my opinion the film makers here cannot claim that they did not view this reaction as a distinct possibility or even likely. We know from recent experience that it is more likely than not given the nature of this film.

Beyond the pale.
Romney Adviser: Obama’s Foreign Policy Led To Tuesday’s Attacks
Rich Williamson, a top foreign policy adviser to Mitt Romney, blamed President Obama's policies in the Middle East for the violence that broke out in Egypt and Libya Tuesday in an interview with Foreign Policy late Tuesday. The interview came before reports that Americans, including U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens, had been killed in the attacks.
"It's all part of a broader scheme of the president's failure to be an effective leader for U.S. interests in the Middle East," Williamson said.
227 | lawhawk Wed, Sep 12, 2012 6:48:06am |
So the GOP default position has been to attack Obama for events beyond his control without offering up any kind of alternative policy other than - attack Obama. That's quite the foreign policy tact to take.
That will surely avoid these kinds of situations going forward.
It wont, of course. Protests/rioters/militias carried out attacks against US embassies and we've now got a dead Ambassador and several others in Libya. Who was behind the attack? The Libyan government is blaming pro-Khadafi loyalists who are annoyed at a deportation of a former government official, but it's also linked to the release of a film (or more accurately film clips) that appear to denigrate the name of the prophet Mohammad and Islam. As we've seen with the cartoon jihad, it doesn't take much to get rioters to go and torch embassies and murder scores of people in the name of religious intolerance.
There are those fanning the flames of such violence. They include people like Terry Jones, who is among those who produce such statements and anti-Islam sentiment, and the mullahs who whip up their followers into a frenzy even as most people who are protesting/rioting have never even seen the supposedly derogatory film clips. It doesn't even matter - the rumor is enough to get things going into a downward spiral.
The outcome confirms the already existing biases of the likes of Jones and his ilk, as well as the mullahs. It adds to the suspicions on both sides and trying to get ahead of the situation wont be easy for anyone - whether it's government officials in foreign countries, or the US Obama Administration.
We are, after all, talking about private citizens (Jones) engaging in free speech even though it could cross the line into hate speech, but it also goes to religious intolerance and rioting in the name of defending against blasphemy.
That I think that G-d or Allah or whatever supreme being needs defending by murdering those who offend suggests a rather insecure and petty deity is besides the point. There are people - millions of them - who do and will act upon those beliefs. And that's the problem.

(AP) LOS ANGELES — An Israeli filmmaker went into hiding Tuesday after his movie attacking Islam's prophet Muhammad sparked angry assaults by ultra-conservative Muslims on U.S. missions in Egypt and Libya.
Speaking by phone from an undisclosed location, writer and director remained defiant, saying Islam is a cancer and that the 56-year-old intended his film to be a provocative political statement condemning the religion.
Protesters angered over Bacile's film opened fire on and burned down the U.S. consulate in the eastern Libyan city of Benghazi. In Egypt, protesters scaled the walls of the U.S. embassy in Cairo and replaced an American flag with an Islamic banner.
Bacile, a California real estate developer who identifies himself as an Israeli Jew, said he believes the movie will help his native land by exposing Islam's flaws to the world.

The film was dubbed into Egyptian Arabic by someone Bacile doesn't know, but he speaks enough Arabic to confirm that the translation is accurate. It was made in three months in the summer of 2011, with 59 actors and about 45 people behind the camera.
The full film has been shown once, to a mostly empty theater in Hollywood earlier this year, said Bacile.

...Bacile said the film was produced in English and he doesn't know who dubbed it in Arabic. The full work has been shown once, to a mostly empty cinema in Hollywood earlier this year, he said.
A scene from the film - which uses very basic production techniques and stilted dialogue - was also was broadcast on the Egyptian television channel Al-Nas.
....
For several days, Egyptian media have been reporting on the video, playing some excerpts from it and blaming Sadek for it, with ultraconservative clerics going on air to denounce it.
It seems the film has been around a while. It was completed about and screened somewhere in CA about a year ago. Terry Jones had little or nothing to do with it. It seems it was promoted and probably translated by Al Nas which appears to be an Islamist Egyptian channel.

re: #252 NJDhockeyfan
It's been on YouTube since July. Funny how the outrage didn't happen until yesterday. I am thinking al-Qaeda or Iran set this up just for the the 9-11 anniversary.
Don't be an idiot. Terry Jones has been trying to get the film attention recently, and it was Christians who baited the Egyptians with it.
Organizers of the Egyptian protest said they'd begun planning the event last week when a controversial Egyptian Christian activist who lives in the United States, Morris Sadek, released a trailer for Muhammad.
The 14-minute clip, which Sadek first posted on his Facebook page Sept. 5, attacked basic tenets of Islam and suggested that the religion had spread only because the prophet told those he encountered to "pay extortion or die" if they didn't convert.

That's exactly what he wanted...this idea:
is pure bullshit. I suspect Israel will also be putting out statements condemning this film.
I don't know about the government but some religious leaders have started:
AN Orthodox Israeli rabbi and former cabinet minister have condemned as "garbage and slime" a film deemed offensive to Islam that has sparked deadly anti-US protests in Libya and Egypt.
"Although freedom of expression and the right to use satire are sacred democratic principles, these freedoms should not be used as an excuse to publish garbage and slime," Michael Melchior, a long-standing advocate of inter-faith dialogue, wrote in a statement on Wednesday.
"The film of Sam Bacile, who identifies himself as a Jew and an Israeli, published under the guise of the 'war on terror', is in fact a film that tramples upon the faith and dignity of hundreds of millions of Muslim believers and upon Mohammed, the prophet of Islam, in the most degrading and ugly way," he added.

The problem is that there are lots of different groups who want situations like this. The filmmaker himself obviously wants people to percieve Islam as violent and terrible. The Islamacists want to whip people up into a frenzy over blasphemy. All the political groups in the ME can use the attacks in one way or another, either blaming them on their enemies to try to get the US on their side, or taking credit to try to get anti-US interests on their side. The GOP is disgustingly crowing about this. Anti-muslim fanatics are happy as clams.

He was warned.
A consultant on the film, Steve Klein, said the filmmaker is concerned for family members who live in Egypt. Bacile declined to confirm.
Klein said he vowed to help Bacile make the movie but warned him that “you’re going to be the next Theo van Gogh.” Van Gogh was a Dutch filmmaker killed by a Muslim extremist in 2004 after making a film that was perceived as insulting to Islam.
“We went into this knowing this was probably going to happen,” Klein said.

And they didn't single out Christianity, but criticized all religion. So, no, your statement is a complete failure.

Remembrance of another person killed in Benghazi at the US embassy
So: Vile Rat, Sean Smith, my friend for over six years, both in real life and in internet spaceships, was the “State Department Official” killed in Benghazi by a mob of religious lunatics, who had been incited to violence on this September 11th by a movie that was apparently made sometime in July. Obviously, given the combined attacks in Egypt and in Libya, this was a coordinated act designed for maximum media exposure; rile up a mob, point them at an embassy or consulate on 9/11 in particular, aim for the press. Many were injured in these pointless, reprehensible acts, and one of my closest friends was killed as a result.
(12:54:09 PM) vile_rat: assuming we don't die tonight. We saw one of our 'police' that guard the compound taking pictures
We knew that Vile Rat was in Benghazi; he told us. He commented on how they use guns to celebrate weddings and how there was a constant susurrus of weaponry in the background. He was in situ to provide IT services for the consulate, which meant he was on the net all the time, hanging out with us on Jabber as usual and talking about internet spaceship games.

Regrettably I have no doubt he could have financed this with Jewish money. On a daily basis I receive group emails that are bigoted and hateful towards Muslims. I am on these lists primarily because I am involved in Jewish and or Israeli charities. There is no shortage of Jews in the Diaspora that are increasingly willing to read, and spread vile disgusting thoughts about Islam and Muslims. It is heartbreaking to me and it is something I fight about on a daily basis with people. The bigger issue is that even those that disagree are often silent. In Canada, I have attended many UJA events in the last year or so. Daniel Pipes and Jon Voight are two recent speakers. The fact that some affluent Jews in Canada are watching and applauding these jokers is sad to me.

I look forward to seeing a couple of friends in a few weeks. I want to see where they sit in the political trenches now that it's down to Romney and Obama. They're "independents", but I also think they have enough brains and education to realize that Romney and the GOP are not acting, or going to act, in the interests of their jobs or children.
So I expect to hear low-level support for Obama, a myriad of stupid excuses for supporting Romney, or some sort of "a pox on both their houses" spiel to justify sitting things out. They aren't Paulites, so I don't expect to hear any of that goofiness.

Two of Americans killed in Libya said shot during evacuation bid
(Reuters) - Two of four Americans killed in Libya on Tuesday died in a shooting during an attempt by U.S. forces to evacuate staff from a safe house, Libya's Deputy Interior Minister Wanis Al-Sharif said.
U.S. consular staff were moved to the safe house after an attack on the consul building in the eastern city of Benghazi in which the ambassador was killed, minister Wanis Al-Sharif told a news conference.
A plane with U.S. security units arrived from Tripoli to evacuate other staff but militants discovered the location of the safe house, he said.
"It was supposed to be a secret place and we were surprised the armed groups knew about it. There was shooting," he said.

Attacks on embassies can be considered an act of war since it is an attack on the sovereign land of the nation. One has to weigh the evidence to see what happened. In Libya, it was Libyan security forces who were defending the embassy, but were overrun by a militia force who was using heavy weapons and RPGs. That isn't the basis for declaring war against Libya since the Libyan government was trying to protect the embassy and its personnel.
It could mean that the US might send drones to Libya to go after those responsible though.

[Updated at 10:43 a.m. ET] President Barack Obama said the United States condemns in the strongest terms the "outrageous" attack that took place in Benghazi, Libya.
"Today, the American people stand united in holding the families (of those killed) in our thoughts and in our prayers."
Obama said he will work with the Libyan government to bring to justice the attackers.
“We will not waver in our commitment to see that justice is done for this terrible act - and make no mistake, justice will be done," he said.
Obama said he rejects all efforts to denigrate the religious beliefs of others, but there is no justification for this attack, adding that the he world must stand together to reject these brutal attacks.
He also said, like Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, that it is important to make sure this attack does not change the work being done in Libya.
"This attack will not break the bonds between the U.S. and Libya," he said.
[Updated at 10:37 a.m. ET] House Speaker John Boehner ordered flags to be flown half-staff at the U.S. Capitol in honor of those who died in Benghazi, Libya. He will also lead the House in a moment of silence.
[Updated at 10:35 a.m. ET] Mitt Romney on Wednesday called the killing of the U.S. ambassador to Libya and three other embassy personnel "outrageous" and "disgusting," and said "America will not tolerate attacks against our citizens and against our embassies."
[Updated at 10:31 a.m. ET] Former U.S. secretary of state Condoleezza Rice told CNN's Zain Verjee the attack was a "terrible tragedy."
"He was a wonderful officer and a terrific person," she said. "He was a patriot with an unshakeable belief in the power of freedom."
[Updated at 10:29 a.m. ET]About 50 U.S. Marines from a rapid-reaction force are heading for Libya in the wake of an attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi that killed the ambassador and three other Americans, U.S. officials said Wednesday, CNN Penatgon Correspondent Barbara Starr reported.

'I saw Islamists attack the US consulate in Benghazi'
“The Islamists were yelling that they wanted to kill everyone in the consulate”
Sofian Kadura is an airline pilot who lives in Benghazi.
I was out with a few friends yesterday evening around 9 or 10 p.m., when we drove into the area where the consulate is located. All of a sudden, we were caught in a huge crowd, with people seemingly shooting on both sides – at the consulate and from the consulate. But it was hard to tell exactly who was shooting. We quickly managed to get to safety, to an area about 200 metres away from the consulate. My friends and I – who were all Freedom Fighters, or rebels, during the war – wanted to go back and see exactly what the trouble was, so I took my AK-47 from my car. (Today, I remain part of a volunteer brigade that ensures security in Benghazi.)
However, when we tried to get closer to the consulate, we realised that armed Islamists had blocked off the streets. They had automatic rifles, RPGs, and big machine guns mounted on cars. It was obvious they were Islamists due to their long beards. I told them I was part of a security brigade, and asked them to let me through – they refused. A large crowd of civilians had gathered, and many people tried to persuade the Islamists to stop. The Islamists were yelling that they wanted to kill everyone in the consulate. We said, “You know, there are Libyans working in there, too,” but they didn’t care – they said those Libyans should never have agreed to work with Americans. They also claimed that the consulate security fired at them first [Editor’s Note: we are unable to idependently verify this claim] – and I said, well, did you really think it was a good idea to show up to ‘protest’ with RPGs and automatic rifles?
"This is not what we fought the war for"
We stayed there until the Islamists left, at around midnight. Usually, when any big incident happens in Benghazi, those who are members of brigades receive orders over our talkie walkies from a main call centre. We received no orders. In fact, there was a brigade just down the street, but they stayed away. I was very distraught. This is not what we fought the war for. While I think the video is insulting, and should never have been made, I don’t think violence is the solution.

Since Texas got their Voter ID and redistricting maps tossed as being in violation of the Voting Rights Act, the Secretary of State has decided on a different tactic to disenfranchise minority voters: mass purges of voters from rolls.
Harris County cancels 'dead' voter purge
Harris County Tax Assessor-Collector Don Sumners said Monday that he would not purge from the voter roll before the November election any of the 9,018 citizens who received letters from his office in recent days notifying them that they may be dead and are at risk of having their registrations canceled.
However, a spokesman for the Texas secretary of state, the office that generated the statewide list of about 80,000 voters, said Sumners' move contradicts legislative directives.
[...]
The letters, many of which were delivered Friday and Saturday, asked recipients to verify within 30 days that they are alive or be cut from the roll.
Sumners has received over 300 complaints from supposedly-dead voters on the first business day after the mailings went out. Also, the Travis County Assessor's office noted that they have already gotten over 100 complaints by telephone out of the roughly 2000 notices that were received over the weekend in that county.

British think thank Quilliam Foundation says the attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi was “a well planned terrorist attack” and would have taken place regardless of the protest against a movie that insults Islam.

The Quilliam (Foundation) is a London-based think tank that focuses on "counter-extremism", specifically Islamism, which it argues is the cause of Muslim terrorism. It lobbies government and public institutions for more nuanced policies regarding Islam and the need for greater democracy in the Muslim world. According to its founder Maajid Nawaz, "We wish to raise awareness around Islamism"[1]; also "I want to demonstrate how the Islamist ideology is incompatible with Islam. Secondly...develop a Western Islam that is at home in Britain and in Europe... reverse radicalization by taking on their arguments and countering them."[2]
The organization opposes any Islamist ideology, and champions freedom of expression. The critique of Islamist ideology by its founders Maajid Nawaz, Rashad Zaman Ali, and Ed Husain is, in part, based on their personal experiences.
Eh, they kind of have a little bias here, you think?

And there were some hints that Bacile may be a pseudonym for someone affiliated with the Egyptian Coptic Christian diaspora.
A consultant on the film, Steve Klein, told the AP that Bacile has family members in Egypt. A 2007 interview with Klein, a self-styled terrorism expert and former Marine Corps Vietnam vet, mentions his ties to the Copt diaspora community.
Klein’s author biography in a self-published work, “Is Islam compatible with democracy,” states: “With 9/11 2001, I immersed myself with Islam in America; went to every major Mosque in SoCal with Arabic speaking Christians as translators and uncovered useful information about many Mosques being the head quarters of terrorism in America.”

Looking very bad for Romney:
But this press conference looks to me like a serious mistake on Romney’s part. The whole thing reeked of political opportunism and didn’t convey any sense of leadership or reassurance amid a crisis. It was also somewhat incoherent. At one point, Romney defended his reaction by noting that the White House, too, had also condemned the U.S embassy’s statement, claiming: “I had the exact same reaction.” Okay, so Romney is criticizing the Obama administration while simultaneously agreeing with it?
Romney is arguing that the administration at first took an objectionable stance. But the statement in question was put out by the U.S. embassy in Cairo, at a moment when it was bracing for trouble. No one except for confirmed Obama haters will buy the notion that the Obama administration sympathized with the attacks. And yet here Romney is at a hastily convened press conference, at a time when four Americans were murdered, doubling down on that exact charge.
This kind of thing will thrill the base, but will it really resonate with undecided and persuadable voters? The new Washington Post poll finds Obama holds an overwhelming 51-38 advantage over Romney on who is more trusted to handle international affairs. Does the Romney camp really think that raising the “apology” canard yet again in this context is a good strategy? Tellingly, no other GOP leaders criticized the Obama administration today, leaving Romney isolated.

What really pains me is that Marines on Embassy duty are under very strict ROE. They aren't allowed to use deadly force without specific orders from very high up (probablt from the Sate Dept. in DC). Those guys probably died without defending themselves.
The reason for that is simple though brutal: The US can more easily afford the deaths of a small number of Marines than it can afford to have said Marines engage in a shooting incident that sets a whole country on fire with anger. Again, ugly but rational.

The problem is that the Libyan government is still very weak. They aren't eager to start taking on these militias, not until they've gotten enough of them onboard. If we have any capability at all for old-fashioned secret agent "wet work" this is the place to use it. Ambassadors are nominated by the President himself. How could Obama, or anyone else for that matter, not feel his loss? Listening to Romney, you'd think Obama sent him to his death and then apologized for it.
I gotta say this for Romney. He says the stupidest things wheneverybody is paying attention
Yep. I think it's just another example of why Mitt Romney just isn't presidential. I guess it was easier to look presidential when you were running against Santorum, Gingrich, Cain, Bachmann, and the other ones but when running against an actual president, Mitt's hollowness is blatantly obvious.

Hillary signaled that we are definitely going after the perpetrators. They need to join bin Laden on the long list of ex-terrorists, but I would prefer not to see it done with drones and air strikes. If we have any capability at all for old-fashioned secret agent "wet work" this is the place to use it. If we give ourselves plausible deniability, the terrorists themselves will still know who is responsible (as we want them to) but their propaganda machine will be less able to use it against us with the general population.

Tunis police disperse protesters outside US embassy
Tunisian police on Wednesday fired tear gas to disperse hundreds of Salafist demonstrators outside the US embassy in Tunis gathered to condemn a film deemed offensive to Islam, an AFP photographer said.
He said the intervention came as the demonstrators, estimated to number 300, started to try to break through the gates of the embassy compound after having demonstrated peacefully for several hours outside.

About that film that's supposedly at the center of it all:
[Embedded content]
This just gets weirder.
While Bacile claims to be in hiding, and his identity remains murky, another character who has been publicly listed as a consultant on the film is a known anti-Muslim activist with ties to the extreme Christian right and the militia movement. He is Steve Klein, a Hemet, California based insurance salesman who claims to have led a “hunter-killer team” in Vietnam.”
Klein is a right-wing extremist who emerged from the same axis of Islamophobia that produced Anders Behring Breivik and which takes inspiration from the writings of Robert Spencer, Pamela Geller, and Daniel Pipes.
It appears Klein (or someone who shares his name and views) is an enthusiastic commenter on Geller’s website, Atlas Shrugged, where he recently complained about Mitt Romney’s “support for a Muslim state in Israel’s Heartland.” In July 2011, Spencer’s website, Jihad Watch, promoted a rally Klein organized alongside the anti-Muslim Coptic extremist Joseph Nasrallah to demand the firing of LA County Sheriff Lee Baca, whom they painted as a dupe for Hamas.

You never know what you're going to do until you're placed in that situation. And I disagree with your premise because during the Holocaust when some German soldiers felt squeamish about having to shoot innocents, they(high command) decided to switch to poison gas and de-personalize the experience of mass murder.

More protests in Casablanca:
Hundreds of Muslims protested on Wednesday outside the US consulate in Morocco’s largest city Casablanca to decry a film deemed insulting to Islam that already sparked deadly violence in Libya, an AFP photographer reported.
The protesters, numbering between 300 and 400 mostly young activists, gathered around 200 metres (yards) from the consulate amid a heavy police presence. Some shouted anti-US slogans, including “Death to Obama!”, but without resorting to violence.
