THE ACCENT… THE ANGER… THE ACCUSATIONS…
Wingnuts • Views: 36,171

Stand back … tonight on Fox News … another hackneyed fake outrage is being recycled for last minute debate sabotage! The Fox Nation, waits, breathlessly.

As seen on Drudge, where the race-baiting siren animated GIF is spinning insanely, like the mind of a Fox-indoctrinated wingnut…

THE ACCENT… THE ANGER… THE ACCUSATIONS…

Meanwhile, the Daily Caller may have already stolen some of Fox’s thunder: Exclusive: Obama in 2006: I ‘Stole’ Book Title ‘Audacity of Hope’ From Rev. Wright, ‘My Pastor’ [VIDEO].

UPDATE at 10/2/12 3:18:24 pm

Drudge has updated with:

THE SHOUT OUT TO REV. WRIGHT, WHO IS IN AUDIENCE

…along with a screenshot from the video. Wonder how long they had to scrub back and forth searching for the perfect “angry black man” frame?

UPDATE at 10/2/12 3:20:01 pm

And here’s the SECRET BOMBSHELL VIDEO — it’s been on YouTube since June 5, 2007.

UPDATE at 10/2/12 3:37:45 pm

The Chicago Sun-Times has a complete transcript: Sweet Blog Special: Obama Warns of Despair Leading to ‘Quiet Riots’ in Address at a Va. Black U. - Lynn Sweet.

What a sorry load of shit Drudge is. THE ACCENT, THE ANGER, THE ACCUSATIONS. Really, I hear this president accused of being angry and filled with hatred but I see more anger and hatred come from his right wing nutjob detractors than him.

Sean "The Other Limbaugh" Hannity says it'll be on his show and that it will "change the course of the election."

So yes, I'm climbing into my hip-waders now, because it's about to get deep.

THE ACCENT, THE ANGER, THE ACCUSATIONS.

Maybe it's a video of a deep-south Tea Partier.

As routine and stupid as these things have become, I always catch myself thinking 'What if they really have something this time?'

Another possible candidate for the outrage: Text - Obama's 2006 Speech on Faith and Politics.

12 JamesWI  Tue, Oct 2, 2012 3:08:28pm

Yeah, just like Obama saying the word "redistribution" was supposed to make everyone immediately forget Romney saying he loathes nearly half the people in the country.

Yep, this new video has me shaking in my boots.

13 Kragar  Tue, Oct 2, 2012 3:08:46pm

"Tonight, we're going to show you a montage of about 30 Obama clips. If any of them even make you a little mad or confused, call in and vote for it and we'll run it into the ground from now until the election."

14 darthstar  Tue, Oct 2, 2012 3:08:50pm

President Obama should cancel tomorrow's debate...they've got two more this month anyway, and Mitt would understand that such a crisis as a Drudge headline requires stepping back and regrouping.

It's always a possibility. As we've seen previously, even if it's a weak and unimportant video the partisans will still try to make something out of it. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't but they'll always try to milk it.

Which leads some foolish people to declare everything to be a faked outrage, even the things that actually are outrageous.

18 Charles Johnson  Tue, Oct 2, 2012 3:10:10pm

Obama was pretty damned crafty to say all these things right out in public, in front of large audiences. Hiding his radicalism in plain sight.

What a bunch of fucking amateurs. If that didn't work in 2008, how the hell do they expect it to work in 2012? Barack Obama has an entire record as POTUS to run on. He's not an unknown quantity anymore.

29 Kragar  Tue, Oct 2, 2012 3:14:00pm

Meanwhile, in grown up news...

White House widening covert war in North Africa

Washington • Small teams of special operations forces arrived at American embassies throughout North Africa in the months before militants launched the fiery attack that killed the U.S. ambassador in Libya. The soldiers’ mission: Set up a network that could quickly strike a terrorist target or rescue a hostage.

The White House signed off a year ago on the plan to build the new military counterterror task force in the region, and the advance teams have been there for six months, according to three U.S. counterterror officials and a former intelligence official. All spoke only on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the strategy publicly.

The effort indicates that the administration has been worried for some time about a growing threat posed by al-Qaida and its offshoots in North Africa. But officials say the military organization was too new to respond to the attack in Benghazi, where the administration now believes armed al-Qaida-linked militants surrounded the lightly guarded U.S. compound, set it on fire and killed Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans.

In other outrage related news, the right has already tied the death of another border patrol agent to Fast and Furious.

Thinking about reasons why many blacks feel disenfranchised and alienated from the system is a Commie trick.

Black people who are mad that a felonious white person has an easier time getting an interview for a job than a black guy with an obviously black-sounding name, they're just whiners. Shit like that doesn't possibly lead to frustration and anger or communities where it's nearly impossible to escape poverty.

It's not his "supporters" that decided to put this out. Apparently Drudge and Rom-bots top adviser are really close friends. This is coordinated with the campaign, and you can see it in the desperate attempt after desperate attempt to create some sort of "game changing" moment by finding old grainy video of Obama, snipping out a sentence here or there, and then coordinating between Drudge, FOX, and the Romney camp.

There should be no doubt that the Romney campaign gave their blessing to Drudge, Daily Caller, and FOX to try and manufacture outrage over nothing. And they've been doing it all campaign long

From Drudge;
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
THE ACCENT... THE ANGER... THE ACCUSATIONS... THE SERMON...
THE SHOUT OUT TO REV. WRIGHT, WHO IS IN AUDIENCE...
'My pastor, the guy who puts up with me, counsels me, listens to my wife complain about me. He's a friend and a great leader. Not just in Chicago, but all across the country'..
FOXNEWS 9 PM ET...
'We don't need to build more highways out in the suburbs'...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I missed the Rev Wright part ... maybe this is a longer video?

I'm starting to think my original idea may be right....that is, the picture he used from the speech was just there as Drudge's "SCARY BLACK MAN" photo, and he's using a different speech (i.e. the Daily Caller one)

This seems designed purely to rile the base. Why? Aren't they riled enough as it is? Maybe not.
It's possible Romney is afraid of losing even wingnut support. They won't switch to Obama, of course, but they might stay at home in droves.

Have to keep the base invested for the down-ticket races. If they lose the House and Obama passes on of those 'jobs bills' their entire world could collapse./

I am learning so much about people in my life because on this election. While I have known for a long time about my family's leanings- my 2 uncles are polar opposites on the political front, but I never realized just how far Right my one uncle is, funny thing is, he dragged my mom more to the right with the whole birth certificate thing, which played well with her latent racism. My other uncle has stayed pretty much left, though he is not so far that he will vote for a 3rd party, in fact he sees that as wrong and damaging to his canidate. I am hoping for a truce at Thanksgiving- since it will be my 45th birthday, but I am not holding my breath. Already have a saftey plan, if it gets too heated, I plan on showing either The Ref or Planes, Trains and Automobiles!

Sun Times has a complete transcript: Sweet Blog Special: Obama Warns of Despair Leading to 'Quiet Riots' in Address at a Va. Black U. - Lynn Sweet.

There's an edit in the video at about 7:00. From your transcript it looks like the removed section begins....

So what’s stopping us? What’s stopping us from taking these bullets out and rebuilding our families, our communities, our nation and our faith in one another? What’s stopping us from seeing the light and the way and the faith that unites us?

Well, I’ve been on a journey trying to get at the truth of that question.

That journey started a long time ago in Hawaii, ....

I don;t see anything outrageous or interesting in the removed sections. Maybe the Rev Wright stuff was taken out after Obama threw him under the bus.

It's pretty much sacrosanct to talk about politics in my family. Most of us are just polar opposites: we have the learned group (educated, interesting jobs, worldly folks) and the...morons (live in a bubble, hate 'others,' refuse new ideas). Those talks never end well, so we just forbid it.

Please tell me that these cases aren't going to get past the initial review process and summarily tossed.

Affirmative Action Back On Supreme Court Docket

The Supreme Court term began Monday, and it already looks like a busy season. The high court is likely to take up affirmative action, same-sex marriage, and the Voting Rights Act. Guest host Celeste Headlee speaks with constitutional law Professor Darren Hutchinson about the Supreme Court cases.

What's particularly worrisome for me on the affirmative action case is the fact that Justice Kagan will not figure in the decision, as she worked on that case when she was Solicitor General.

Also, even though the Voting Rights Act was upheld less than three years ago, an attempt to overturn it outright is before the court again.

Registered Voters Prefer Obama Over Romney On Dancing With The Stars

As election day nears, potential voters have a lot to consider about the crop of candidates: which one can turn the economy around, who is going to improve our healthcare system, which contender is going to keep us safe… and who would thrive on Dancing with the Stars?

A new Washington Post-ABC News poll may be able to provide an answer to that question, as the outlets found in a new survey that 51 percent of registered voters would prefer to see President Barack Obama on the reality series, a stark contrast to the 26 percent who would rather watch rival Mitt Romney bust a move on stage.

[...]

The actual question:

37. (ASKED OF REGISTERED VOTERS HALF SAMPLE) Who would you rather see as a contestant on Dancing with the Stars, (Obama) or (Romney)?

. . . , . . . , . . . , . . Both . Neither . No

I don't want to say I respect folks more when they openly admit it, but I just find it much easier to deal with people who are honest about it than those who will go through great lengths to hide it by continually brandishing ludicrous theories about BHO.

It's funny, but personally, anytime I engage folks who are trying to hide their blatant racism, when they try to convince folks why they should hate Obama, it really doesn't feel like they're trying to convince other people. It just really sounds to me like they're still trying to convince themselves that it's o.k. to hate the guy because he's black. It's like their mind is at war with itself and the racist side will 'burn the village in order to save it' from the rational side of the mind.

No big surprise, you can't even sell an iPhone 3g for $0.99 on eBay. I cracked the screen on mine and got a new 3gs for $1 with a contract renewal. I figured I could sell the old one for parts, but no, they're essentially worthless.

Islamists execute man before 600 in north Mali

Radical Islamists in northern Mali executed a man on Tuesday evening who had been accused of killing someone, a punishment that was witnessed by about 600 people in the town of Timbuktu.

The public execution was the latest move by the militants to impose their strict interpretation of Islamic Shariah law. Previously the Islamists have stoned to death a couple accused of adultery, and carried out at least eight amputations.

Pandering out the ass. You get a max $17,000/yr deduction from your taxes, for which the big three deductions (charitable, mortgage, health insurance) that the middle class rely on will count towards. Anything other that, you get taxed on.

In short, it's raising taxes on the middle class without saying as much.

Well if the plan is to reduce all tax rates by 20% and then cap deductions at 17K, that would probably be a wash for most middle class people. But if he is capping deductions for everyone at 17K that would be a much bigger deal for the wealthy. No more 3 million dollar charitable deductions for Mitt. I don't see that happening.

A candidate who’s seeking to represent Nashville in Congress posted a photo of his gun and a pointed message for President Barack Obama on his campaign Facebook page.

Brad Staats, the Republican nominee challenging U.S. Rep. Jim Cooper in the 5th Congressional District election, posted the picture of the silver and black Colt 1911 semi-automatic pistol on Friday. Under it he wrote:

“Many people in Tennessee keep asking me about my opinion on Second Amendment rights. Apparently Tennesseans are part of that crazy crowd that Obama says ‘cling to (their) religion and guns.’ Well, then I must be part of that crazy crowd. Here is something that I usually have with me. Shades of the Univision forum, where Romney made last minute threats to finagle a change in the audience composition and then a do-over of an unfavorable intro? The thing is, the format has been public for a while so last minute changes will negatively impact whoever prepared based on the old understanding and not the planned modification.

The only thing I can get from the video and the Drudge report spew about Obama allegedly being a racist is that it is apparently motivated (1) by the awareness that showing Barack Obama trying to appeal in any way to an overwhelmingly black audience, in this instance by speaking a little like them, will inspire fear and resentment among the Drudge Report followers, combined with (2) the usual rightwing reality reversal of accusing their chosen adversary of their own faults, the usual nonsense of calling the targets of racism racist.

When there are people who are homeless, veterans struggling with post-traumatic stress disorder from this war in Iraq, thousands of children aging out of foster care, we can't expect them to have all the skills they need for work. They may need help with basic skills -- how to show up to work on time, wear the right clothes, and act appropriately in an office. We have to help them get there. That's why I have called for $50 million to begin innovative new job training and workforce development programs.

But what good are these efforts if men and women can't afford the bus fare or the subway fare or the car insurance to get to the training center or new job. That is why, as president, I will invest in transportation."

Draped from the hangar rafters was, of course, a massive American flag; miniature American flags were distributed to rally-goers for waving purposes. So, fittingly, Romney mused about “the beauty of the American soul” and related themes. “I love America!” he declared. “I love you.”

The candidate had already been in town preparing for tomorrow’s first presidential debate at the University of Denver. Current polling data and demographic trends suggest that he is highly unlikely to win Colorado, which gave the rally a throwaway feel – as if put on exclusively for the TV cameras and traveling press corps.

Ken Carpenter, 73, and his wife Paula were in attendance; Ken wore a Romney “pilot wings” lapel pin, which were being distributed outside the venue. An Air Force veteran, he contended that Barack Obama is in the process of “systematically destroying America.”

“Have you seen 2016?” Carpenter asked me.

Continues.

re: #285 Killgore Trout

But those of us who were paying attention in 2008 knew that Obama wasn't the radical Muslim marxist that the right tried to portray him at the time (and ever since.)

Simply by looking at Obama's own voting record and plenty of positions revealed Obama to be "socially liberal" but otherwise pretty middle of the road.

I brought up at that time the problem some environmentalists had with Obama, but that like everything else didn't assuage the haters.

Today I do not believe the case is the same (overall) with our approach to Romney. His relationship with Bain is called "vampire capitalism" for a good reason, and it still will be a good reason in 2016. Romney's avoidance of disclosure of tax returns will still be an issue in 2016 (if he is still a public figure.) These are not issues created merely for temporary political fervor.

Likewise with what Obama really does believe (in doing, or not doing) - either in foreign policy directions, or domestic legislation. Those are not temporary "outrages", but frankly the atavist American crowd - and there are many of them - are not into actual policy issues, but rather in venting their own emotional state.

Looks like it. They'll still pretend to be outraged, it's obligatory but Drudge oversold it. Not much there to take advantage of. They might find an awkwardly phrased sentence or something if they look hard enough. Meh.

Good point. Here in Portland (Moscow on the Willamette) I'm seeing zero political activity. No yard signs, no bumper stickers, Nothing.

Around here it is all Brown and Warren all the time. Would hardly know there was a presidential election happening.

This close friend of Barack Obama also joined Louis Farrakhan on a trip to Libya and met with Muammar Gaddafi in 1984, right around the time Obama would have first met Rev. Wright. Has anyone ever asked Obama for his opinion about that trip?

o i wish i could go back to the SE portland i lived in in the 70s, where you could sublet a room in a house for $100/mo, and there were abandoned 1910 era houses all over the place to be had for a song

altho minimum wage at the time was $2.50/hr and i seem to remember i was somewhat younger as well...

I'm in Kentucky, so of course Obama and Romney aren't wasting money on ads here. The big race is the 6th Congressional District, in which Blue Dog Ben Chandler hung on by a few hundred votes against tea partier Andy Barr. Barr is trying again, and you would think that the age limit for voting is 65, because almost every ad is about medicare, except the ones about who is the best friend of coal.

However, there are still quite a number of us who predate 2008 who are still around. Not everyone posted comments on every story.

Yep. I kept (and pretty much still do) a low profile during the last election cycle. Sometimes it's safer to stay under your rock.

Housing is still pretty affordable here and has withstood the market crash well. Still a safe city, young population, traffic's not too bad. As far as small city living goes it's pretty nice.
