Wouldn't it be cool if Romney staggered in holding a half-empty bottle of Jack Daniels, hair wild, no tie.

You know, if he did that I would have no choice but to vote for him.

And politifact blows another little chuck of their credibility off.

Neither Obama nor his health care law literally cut funding from the Medicare program’s budget. Rather, the health care law instituted a number of changes to try to bring down future health care costs in the program.

They made changes to try to lower costs. Spending wasn't touched. What was done was to lower future costs. Nothing was cut.

The weird part is when Politifact rates it half-true and then goes on and on about how incredibly misleading it is.

I guess, in a way, it proves a philosophical point-- half-truths are in a way bigger lies than absolute fabrications.

Actually I'm not a "lefty," I'm a moderate. I've voted Republican and Democrat. Last election, I actually voted for McCain. I haven't been in a coma the last four years, and what I've seen is a an intelligent, thoughtful and hard-working President who is not driven by ideology and who seeks and proposes real solutions, and who has accomplished a great deal despite having to work with a hostile, obstructionist Congress for most of his term. He's also a strong President who's made us safer by improving our relations with much of the rest of the world and taking out many top members of al-Qaeda, including Osama bin Laden.

If you can provide facts and evidence to back up your assertion that Obama is a "useless, incompetent phoney," I'll be happy to consider them. However, I will counter with an extremely long list of Obama's accomplishments and I will expect you to read them.

I think Obama would have had better bipartisan support if the Republicans weren't determined to make him a one-term president as their main priority.

Of course.. From day one they've been on a mission to sabotage the economy so they could blame it all on Obama. There hasn't been a single serious attempt by the GOP to do anything constructive.

The Democrats had complete control of congress for his first two years, including a fillibuster-proof majority in the senate. He seems to have made a point of appeasing enemies and pissing off allies as far as foreign relations go. He's a phoney because he's obviously a hard left idealogue trying to pretend to be a "moderate" in order to get elected.

yes, i have been a professional software engineer for 27 years now, and algorithms i've created have their own chapters in books on programming

if you think that programming is about math, then you don't know much about it. i've made some math mistakes, but i had to pass calculus and discreet math to get a degree in computer science.

now you can return the favor and tell us what your professional qualifications are

when obama took office, both the stock market and employment were going down. since a few months after he took office, they have been going up. you say you are a literate person, but you've made a basic mistake in knowing some basic facts about the economy. perhaps i should question your ability to read and understand news reports

Good point. Hoping that lightning strikes twice. The Corporate Media will cream themselves over how game-changing this is and Romney comeback and Obama doooomed and so on and so forth.

The Corporate Media covered the last election also, in exactly the same way. All the better pollsters expect this election to get closer. Most say that odds of Romney overcoming his deficit in the electoral college races are long.

Consider that you're watching the debate with fear of Obama doing poorly and Romney doing well. That affects your conclusions about how it's going. My guess is that your emotional investment might lead you to be overly concerned about any degree to which the media may portray Romney as coming off looking better. But you are a decided voter - as are most folks. What matters is how will the relatively few who aren't already decided judge this debate. I doubt that many are going to be swayed by how this debate is covered in the media. (And further, my guess is that the media will not cover this debate as being a decisive victory one way or the other, anyway).

Before Bush left office the economy had CRASHED and we were losing 600,000 jobs a month. The Churchill bust was another fake rightwing "outrage." Completely made up. Your comment about middle eastern regimes makes no sense. What, we were supposed to stand up for dictators when their people rose up against them? If it's so darned easy to overthrow hostile regimes, why didn't Bush take care of Syria and Iran?

"Spread the wealth", "redistribution", "you didn't build that", "free markets have never worked"....

How is "spread the wealth" or "redistribution" radical? What I call radical is allowing an increasing amount of the world's wealth to be concentrated in the hands of a few. And oh boy, the "you didn't build that" crap. You know Obama was talking about the infrastructure that supports businesses, not the businesses themselves, yet you repeat this fucking lie.
