WI GOP Senate Candidate’s Son: “Send Obama Back to Chicago, or Kenya”

What right wing racism?
Wingnuts • Views: 29,787

At a Republican event attended by his father, former Wisconsin Governor Tommy Thompson, and RNC chairman Reince Priebus, here’s Jason Thompson smirking as he makes a racist joke about President Obama to a room full of laughing white conservatives: Wisconsin Senate Candidate’s Son Says We ‘Have the Opportunity’ to Send Obama Back to Kenya.

Jason Thompson, the son of former Governor and Wisconson Senate candidate Tommy Thompson, speaking this morning at a brunch attended by Tommy Thompson and RNC Chairman Reince Priebus said that “we have the opportunity to send President Obama back to Chicago — or Kenya.” A woman in attendance then chimed in “we are taking donations for that Kenya trip.” A spokesman for Thompson did not immediately return a request for comment.

Tommy Thompson needs to take his son to the woodshed. That's not a Dog Whistle, that's open racism.

I know that crowd. I can't believe they exist anymore, but I guess I've been naive.

My circle of chosen acquaintances is getting smaller and smaller.

But how can this be? I've been repeatedly assured that there is no racism in the Republican party and that it's Democrats who are the "real" racists!

I admit, as someone who lived through the Thompson years in Wisconsin, I am shocked that his son would be recorded saying these things. While Tommy was always against the safety net- W-2 was his baby, and he also introduced Bridefare, allowing single moms more benefits if they married, and LearnFare, which cut or eliminated benefits for families who had truant kids, I still am stunned by this. I disagreed with him on a LOT, but never would have thought this of any of his kids.

And then we'd have a chairman on record saying that Romney stands for nothing but himself and is untrustable. That'd be nice.

Of course, in the modern GOP it doesn't even really matter. It's very Soviet-style; it doesn't matter what was said a year ago. Gingrich has said some of the most amazingly hostile things about Romney, but now he's all smiles for him. And GOP voters buy this act, and participate in it themselves.

No, but I'd like to speak to him and figure out the best way to explain things. I do not wish to poorly represent the thoughts of someone else.

MBF fail. Romney hasn't had to deal with one 1/100th of the garbage Obama has. Not even close, not even a contest.

Any presidential candidate puts up with an astonishing amount of shit. The fact that Obama has had to handle so much more doesn't mean that a normal level isn't overwhelming.

I'd never do it.

95 TheSwedish  Sun, Oct 14, 2012 8:54:44pm

What's up with Thompson's kid?

I'm guessing there's no military service in his background or anything else of real importance.

Check that, there WAS military service, but he didn't make it past his first physical; a doctor rode young Mr. Thompson out after discovering a white nationalist tattoo on each butt cheek. Servicepeople have been trained to spot ugly tatts, dontchaknow.

The thing is, I'm only about half sure the above paragraph is a joke.

Romney won't be able to "fix" the global recession. We're stuck in limbo. In the mean time Americans will keep serving the rich.

Nobody can fix the global economy. The best that can be done is to set the correct policies in the US and advocate smart policies abroad. Even then, there are things out of our control that could gut punch the US economy. But that's not something a presidential candidate can say, nor can a president say it without seeming defeatist.

And from the sounds of it, things are about to get worse. Lot of talk about the continuing Eurozone crisis, as well as expectations of poorer than predicted Chinese GDP report on Thursday. A few of the economy wonks I've seen on other boards might as well be wearing "THE END IS NEAR!" sandwich boards.

I'm curious to see what it turns into in 2016, when a white man seems statistically likely to be the Democratic nominee.

Based on the current presumed field, I'd put the chances that the Dems will have a white male at the top of the ticket no higher than 40%.

So he spewed some shit that even you don't feel would be compelling in a public forum, yet you personally found it moving enough to repeat as your own opinion. Yeah, that seems typical at this point.

The best way to explain things is in your own words, but you so rarely do. Time and again you retreat to a position of having been influence by your best friend and your dad. Do you see anybody else doing that? Do you anybody else here or in real life arguing their parent's or their friend's point of view? If not then why do you think it's acceptable? "Yeah well my Daddy says" is the kind of shit that children grow out of in elementary school, totally unbecoming of any adult.

In other news, the shooting at Obama's campaign office in Colorado unearthed another 'bad apple' who isn't 'representative of those voting for Romney'...

NO! Read the article, it was deliberately misrepresented by iowahawkblog (who, if I remember correctly, is a Breitbart type, using the "durr hurr the culprit was a Dem therefore the tea party is pure and perfect and above all criticism forever and ever" trick)

It's accurate, that's why you don't like it. You act like a child in many, many different ways. I've never met another adult who sits there and uncritically presents their dad's or their best friend's point of view as if the fact that it belongs to that person makes it in any way intrinsically compelling.

You know, every time I read about one of these jackhole Romney surrogates making racist remarks, I reflect on the fact that, for the first 31 years of his life, Mitt Romney belonged to a religion that did not allow blacks to be full members. What I'd really like to see is someone at, say, the townhall debate ask Romney if there is any evidence that he protested this state of affairs, or did anything to try and change it. If Reverend Wright is fair game, how is this not?

I don't feel it'll be debate. Frank will assign anything from me the worst possible characterization he can. He asks hostile questions continuously and if I ask a question in reply I get an attempt to spin it back on me. It's not worth it.

The economic sanctions imposed against the Islamic Republic that were intended to disrupt Iran's nuclear ambitions are working to erode Iranian oil exports and that is adding to the price a bit. The funny thing is that all of Nations that signed off on the economic sanctions against Iran can still buy Iranian oil as long as they file some paperwork about how they are working to reduce their reliance on Iranian oil. The sanctions are like a war of attrition. If we really want to starve the Islamic Republic of oil revenue, that means we'll all have to pay more at the pump.

Saddest part is that I voted for him in the primary.

And I still would. Slime that he is, he's still the least dangerous of the four that were running. If worst comes and we end up with a second republican senator, at least he'll cause the least amount of damage to our nation for those 6 years.

They can love it, I don't.

By continuing to support the Republicans, even down to local races, you (and those like you) are enabling and emboldening shitheads like these.

I'm not saying that you have to run out and register as a Democrat, but right now, like it or not, the Democrats, as a national party, are the only halfway sane alternative that is able to compete with the GOP right now (sorry, third parties).

Inbred hillbillies implies that they have an excuse. Hillbillies are presumed to be people who may not know any better because of lack of education.

These are people who bloody well have the worldly experience and education to know better, who choose to be schmucks.

And putzes.
