Live Video: Final Presidential Debate 2012, Thread One

The final face-off between Battlin’ Barack and Mendacious Mitt
Politics • Views: 30,299

It’s competing with both baseball and football games tonight, so the audience for the final Presidential debate may not be as large as it was for the first two debates. But the “foreign policy” will start in about 30 minutes, heavily focused on the Middle East.

Expect Romney to hammer away at his dishonest “apology tour” talking point, and expect him to continue trying to confuse the Benghazi issue and smear Obama with it.

Expect Obama to bring up Osama bin Laden, and the fact that he’s basically obliterated the entire command structure of Al Qaeda and ended the war in Iraq.

Apparently Mitt Romney won two coin tosses, and gets to go both first and last. In with a lie, out with a falsehood.

He won both coin tosses? Let me guess: He provided the coin (which of course was secretly double-sided).

This is a terribly important debate. I expect a good performance from the President, because he knows what is at stake. What worries me is that now that Romney is within striking distance, if people perceive him as doing well in a foreign policy debate, that may satisfy them that he can handle the office and they can vote for him. Obama still has the edge at this point, but its barely more than a tossup.

Obama has to point our that Willard is a fool and a liar, because the bar for Willard is very low. All he has had to do this whole election is not throw up on himself and trip on his dick. He has always had the desire for Big White Daddy in the White House going for him.

41 freetoken  Mon, Oct 22, 2012 5:41:39pm

This "foreign policy" debate is skewed from the outset - it's all about being afraid, very afraid.

In this case, "foreign policy" is a euphemism for How Do You Deal With All the Boogeymen Who Want To Hurt Us.

It's as if relations with other countries can only be viewed through blood soaked lenses.

And in this case, this fear-mongering will work in Romney's favor, as he can be all the chicken-hawk that fearful will want.

What Are the Gobshites Saying These Days?

BOCA RATON, Fla. — Welcome back to our weekly survey of the state of Our National Dialogue, which, as we can easily see, is what Duke Ellington would have come up with had he composed Take the Sputtering Ill-Maintained Riding Lawn Mower

As you might expect, there are flocks and gaggles and exaltations of gobshites broiling themselves in the sun down here in anticipation of tonight's third and final debate between the president and Willard Romney, this one on the general topic of Whose Shit Should We Blow Up and Where? No more Hempsteads or Danvilles or Denvers for this crew. They have all gathered in a general murder — what with many of them being crows and all — in a place much more suited to their opinions of themselves. They warmed up for the festivities in fine form on Sunday morning. We shall begin with Dancin' Dave's Disco Dance Party, where rising GOP star and spurned Veepster Marco Rubio got a head-start on opening up a gender gap for the 2020 election. First, he discussed the ladyparts and the ladies who have them.

Probably a nauseating overdose of Israel and Iran. I don't know how much we'll hear about Libya after Romney shot himself in the balls on that issue last debate.

Who knows about China.

111 Gus  Mon, Oct 22, 2012 6:00:08pm

Shorter Mitt Romney tonight: this president, this president, this president, this president, this president, this president, this president, this president, this president, this president, this president, this president, this president, this president, this president, this president, this president, this president, this president, this president, this president, this president, this president, this president, this president, this president.

re: #97 celticdragon

As well as the focus group tested phrases:

1. Obama's lack of leadership creates instability (sip of Samuel Adams Octoberfest beer)
2. American exceptionalism! (Shot of cheap Scotch)
3. Apology tour/I will not apologize! (double shots for this one!)
4. Obama threw Israel under the bus (Shot of Glenfiddich 12 year single malt)

I only have Glenfiddich 18. What will I do?

And so it begins.

You burn dinner?

Nah, my husband is cooking it. I'll just be choking on the contents of the debate. (The food will be good-he's a perfectly good cook.)

114 darthstar  Mon, Oct 22, 2012 6:01:08pm

President Obama should have insisted Gary Johnson be allowed to sit at the table for Debate #3. In fact, all candidates should have been allowed. It would have been beautiful.

re: #110 Ghost of Tom Joad

We know the six "questions", and yes, 2/3rds of them are about the ME, Israel, etc.

The other is a question about boogeyman China.

The first question is a broad one about what is American foreign policy.

Sometimes, we need to ask the question, Are Dogs Learning?

Reportedly, some dogs in Australia, where the toads have become a major pest, have learned to lick the toads for pleasure.

127 Gus  Mon, Oct 22, 2012 6:02:44pm

The roundtable.

I know what they are alluding to. I'm finding out more than I want to know about some of my neighbors. Wonder how they'll act after Mitt loses?

Nah, my husband is cooking it. I'll just be choking on the contents of the debate. (The food will be good-he's a perfectly good cook.)

I made dinner tonight for my love and I.

Baked spicy tofu, black-bean eggplant, my take on spinach gomae but I used kale instead of spinach, miso soup and rice.

Here we go

136 celticdragon  Mon, Oct 22, 2012 6:04:19pm

Libya of course. Intentional mislead? really?

137 moderatelyradicalliberal  Mon, Oct 22, 2012 6:04:38pm

Old Bob whistles when he talks.

138 brennant  Mon, Oct 22, 2012 6:04:47pm

Just bullshit.

139 Ghost of Tom Joad  Mon, Oct 22, 2012 6:05:10pm

Question sounded like he was poking Obama in the eye the whole time.

140 nines09  Mon, Oct 22, 2012 6:05:25pm

I wonder. Will Mitt get points for his suit? It appears empty.

141 Gus  Mon, Oct 22, 2012 6:05:28pm

Getting hamster lag.

142 celticdragon  Mon, Oct 22, 2012 6:05:34pm

Syria is not Libya.

143 Joanne  Mon, Oct 22, 2012 6:05:58pm

Wow. Romney pulled off a funny. Maybe the upgrade worked.

Firmware upgrade: Pass

144 aagcobb  Mon, Oct 22, 2012 6:06:01pm

Be afraid!

145 brennant  Mon, Oct 22, 2012 6:06:33pm

Continuing sprint to the middle

146 Destro  Mon, Oct 22, 2012 6:06:50pm

Obama's middle east policy is not unraveling! The dictatorship are collapsing. Obama did better than I assumed he would and Romney wants to double down and invade these countries. At least - as much as I hate any American intervention- Obama is staying mostly out.

147 Only The Lurker Knows  Mon, Oct 22, 2012 6:07:18pm

Can't kill our way out of this mess. Why not? Decapitate the leadership and the body will eventually die.

148 Destro  Mon, Oct 22, 2012 6:10:30pm

Romney arguing for foreign aid to the Muslim world?

OH SHIT!!! ROMNEY IS TRYING TO GO TO THE LEFT OF OBAMA!!!!

149 ProGunLiberal  Mon, Oct 22, 2012 6:11:09pm

re: #147 Only The Lurker Knows

Syria has no proto-governmental body strong enough to deal with the nation should Assad and his closest lieutenants die.

Compare this with the NTC in Libya.

150 allegro  Mon, Oct 22, 2012 6:11:46pm

I want to push a shaving cream pie in Romney's smirking face.

151 Destro  Mon, Oct 22, 2012 6:12:24pm

The 1980 are calling for their foreign policy back!!!! Obama is calling Romney on his multiple positions!!!!

Obama is not allowing Romney to act like he is MODERATE MITT on Romney by stating Romney's multiple messages!!!

152 Destro  Mon, Oct 22, 2012 6:15:22pm

Romney freaking out! Obama = YOU HAVE TO BE CLEAR WHERE YOU STAND AND WHAT YOU MEAN.

Mitt is all over the place.

I keep forgetting to see what the CNN meter is indicating.
