Loony Pamela Geller: Petraeus Resignation Is an Obama Plot to Put a Muslim in Charge of the CIA

Just another stealth shariah plot by BHO
Wingnuts • Views: 37,192

The right wing universe is now in full-bore conspiracy theory mode over the resignation of CIA Director David Petraeus, just as I predicted. It’s a case study in the conservative movement’s decline into bad craziness; they’re all muttering darkly about cover-ups and hidden connections and “questioning the timing.”

One of the most brain-dead of the wingnuts, loony hateblogger Pamela Geller, has a typical post on the subject; for her it’s all part of the Islamic supremacist stealth shariah takeover of America, of course:

GENERAL DAVID PETRAEUS RESIGNS - Atlas Shrugs.

I do not believe it was the real reason was [sic] an extramarital affair. I believe it was Benghazi. He refused to be the fall guy. When did an affair ever stop a Democrat. If anything….

Perhaps one of Obama’s many Muslim Brotherhood advisors are on the shortlist to replace him.

Come now, we all know that's not the case. It was to get Patraeus away from Congress, so that he couldn't spill the beans on how Obama ordered Stevens and Woods killed!!

I know I shouldn't try too hard to make sense of this, but it sounds like she thinks Benjamin Ghazi refused to be the fall guy.

Actually, no. A few days ago, CTV News was still talking about the run up to the election.

They must get their information from the blogosphere and twitter and their reader guy is falling behind.

One good thing about that is they'll be two days late reporting the end of the world.

Aw dang.

This is unrelated, but I'm still not understanding why mail-in voting has recently become some kind of liberal cause. I'm seeing people talking it up all over the internet.

Remember, in Ohio, black voters were more likely to deliver their absentee vote in person rather than through the mail, as the Republican Secretary of State was trying to mandate. There's a reason for that.

The only one who I can think off offhand is David Vitter, who was stupid enough to have repeated telephone correspondence with prostitutes on his government-issued cellphone.

Oh, and I forgot about David Wu, who had to resign because he thought it would be a bright idea to engage in sexual advances toward one of his fundraisers' daughters (who was a minor at the time).

33 kirkspencer  Sat, Nov 10, 2012 11:27:50am

For amusement... I've long wondered if maybe Gen Petraeus was a democrat at heart. Some of his policies, his military manual recommendations, were more progressive than the standard republican line.

I would find it the height of hilarity if the republicans openly forgave and redeemed his transgression, only to see him run on a D platform in a few years. Heads go blooey all over...

In Florida, the OfA strategy was to push mail and early voting, simply as a way to subvert the attempt to suppress voting through a ballot of up to 11 pages. The GOP legislature had the full text of all 11 amendments on the ballot, and local government added their issues. We knew the lines would be unmanageable on election day.

What a nutcase
FBI probe of

Petraeus triggered by e-mail threats from biographer, officials say

The collapse of the dazzling career of CIA Director David H. Petraeus was triggered when a woman whom he was having an affair with sent threatening e-mails to another woman close to him, according to three senior law enforcement officials with knowledge of the episode.

The recipient of the e-mails was so frightened that she went to the FBI for protection and help tracking down the sender, according to the officials. The FBI investigation traced the threats to Paula Broadwell, a former military officer and a Petraeus biographer, and uncovered explicit e-mails between Broadwell and Petraeus, the officials said.

When Petraeus’s name first surfaced, FBI investigators were concerned that the CIA director’s personal e-mail account had been hacked and security had been breached. But the sexual nature of the e-mails led them to conclude that Petraeus and Broadwell were engaged in an affair, the officials said.

The identity of the woman who received the e-mails was not disclosed, and the nature of her relationship with Petraeus is unknown. The law enforcement officials said the e-mails indicated that Broadwell perceived the other woman as a threat to her relationship with Petraeus.

The Joy of Hate: How to triumph over Whiners in the age of phony Outrage

It's probably not what you are thinking it is. Here's the summary:

From the irreverent star of Fox News’s Red Eye and The Five, hilarious observations on the manufactured outrage of an oversensitive, wussified culture.

Greg Gutfeld hates artificial tolerance. At the root of every single major political conflict is the annoying coddling Americans must endure of these harebrained liberal hypocrisies. In fact, most of the time liberals uses the mantle of tolerance as a guise for their pathetic intolerance. And what we really need is smart intolerance, or as Gutfeld reminds us, what we used to call common sense.

The Joy of Hate tackles this conundrum head on--replacing the idiocy of open-mindness with a shrewd judgmentalism that rejects stupid ideas, notions, and people. With countless examples grabbed from the headlines, Gutfeld provides readers with the enormous tally of what pisses us all off. For example:
- The double standard: You can make fun of Christians, but God forbid Muslims. It's okay to call a woman any name imaginable, as long as she's a Republican. And no problem if you're a bigot, as long as you're politically correct about it.
- The demonizing of the Tea Party and romanticizing of the Occupy Wall Streeters.
- The media who are always offended (see MSNBC lineup)
- How critics of Obamacare or illegal immigration are somehow immediately labeled racists.
- The endless debate over the Ground Zero Mosque (which Gutfeld planned to open a Muslim gay bar next to).
- As well as pretentious music criticism, slow-moving ceiling fans, and snotty restaurant hostesses.

With an assertion like that, I'd like to see one instance where the Obama campaign said anything at all about women getting thrown into "rape camps". I mean, there were cameras and recording devices EVERYWHERE during this campaign. Surely, he can come up with just one instance of it actually happening, and I'm positive that FoxNews, Brietbart, and just about any other rightwing "news" organization would have had a pre-election field day with it.

She did what Eric Holder refuses to do in Fast and Furious. She protected the Oval Office.

What is Holder supposed to do now?

The inspector general's report concluded there is "no evidence" that Attorney General Eric Holder, who heads the Justice Department, knew the details of Fast and Furious before they became publicly known in February 2011. Holder requested the internal review the same month.

re: #65 Killgore Trout

It's also possible this is just the tip of the iceberg. Maybe multiple affairs, sexual harrasment, etc. It's also possible that others at the CIA knew what was going on. There might be a bit of housecleaning to do.

Once the FBI started investigating Petraeus' girlfriend, and his name was brought into it (and the possibility of his computer being compromised)... it put his security clearance in automatic temporary abeyance. Even if it turns out he's totally cleared of any suspicion of anything, until the investigation is finished he can't legally have access to the information he would need to be able to do his job.

84 Gus  Sat, Nov 10, 2012 12:05:12pm

There's a review in there by Jonah Goldberg. Excerpt:

Gutfeld doesn’t mention Herbert Marcuse, but he talks a lot about “repressive tolerance,” a term Marcuse coined and popularized. The Frankfurt School Marxist argued that traditional—i.e., classically liberal—notions of tolerance were in fact oppressive because they helped perpetuate the sorts of societies Marcuse disliked (liberal, capitalist, democratic, free, decent, etc). And so, as Frankfurt School Marxists are known to do, he vomited up a bilious stew of nonsense that basically served as a secular fatwa: Leftwing groups are free to say whatever they want, but “rightwing” groups (defined as any outfit not loyal to leftwing groups) were to be treated as bigoted and offensive simply because they disagreed with leftwing groups. As Marcuse writes, “Liberating tolerance, then, would mean intolerance against movements from the Right and toleration of movements from the Left.”

Who knew. Outrage is fascism.

The point is that when all this was in the news, Eric Holder repeatedly didn't take responsibility for the actions of the Justice Dept. He let the rumors and accusations fly to the Oval Office.

Obama, righty, had his back. Yet, he didn't have Obama's. It really pissed me off.

Hillary OTOH, made it very clear that the Office of State was her responsibility.

That story isn't over. It seems to have produced one suicide already.

?? What did I miss? Who killed themselves?

This rabbit hole is starting to get deeper. It reminds me of a local (Texas) case going on right now... A 17-year-old girl was shot during a break in earlier in the year, but it turns out she had arranged the whole thing with the two gunmen, and got caught in the crossfire and killed. The owner of the house was apparently into drugs, and *he* in turn was found dead in a burning SUV last week. They've since arrested the two people who killed him, and one of them has the same last name as the house owner victim, but isn't related. Investigation is still ongoing. All we need yet is a tie-in to a state legislator somehow, and we have a Coen brothers movie.

Remember, in Ohio, black voters were more likely to deliver their absentee vote in person rather than through the mail, as the Republican Secretary of State was trying to mandate. There's a reason for that.

It's become popular because it works. Here in Washington and Oregon we've all been doing it for years now. You get your ballot at home to fill out at your leisure, with no standing in line for hours. If you don't trust the mail to get it back, there are places offered to, yes, drop it off in person. Can it be subverted? Yes, but so can any process involving humans, as Ohio has shown this year.

Rep. Allen West is apparently defeated

Conservative firebrand Rep. Allen B. West (R-Fla.) appears to have lost his reelection bid, with final vote totals in the state’s new 18th Congressional District showing him trailing by more than 2,000 votes.

With 100 percent of precincts reporting, Democrat Patrick Murphy leads West by 2,442 votes — 50.4 percent to 49.6 percent. That is outside the margin (0.5 percent) for a computer recount.

The Associated Press, however, has not called the race, and West is vowing to continue fighting.

What I'm taking issue with is the insistence that it is a more failsafe method of voting, while ignoring historical trends and voter preferences. Washington and Oregon don't have a history of voter intimidation. Furthermore, you are assuming that communities in other states have a vested interest in seeing minorities and poor people vote.

The best system, I think, is one that gives people more than one way to cast their ballots, but I'm not going to hold my breath as the Supreme Court seems on the verge of striking down the Voting Rights Act.

EDIT: We'll have a better idea how other states handle it if Arizona doesn't make a hash out of it. There are still more than 400,000 outstanding ballots out there.

It's a voters cause AFAIK. I love it. It's a first line of defense against most shenanigans. It's great on several levels. When you apply for it you get an early chance to fix anything like if you need to re register. That keeps you safer from registration purging. You get the ballot well enough in advance you can take your time with it. Accuracy, no rush. Then for the price of a stamp you send it in or as mentioned drop it off at any polling place. Not necessarily the one near your home. Maybe a convenient one near work or the commute. The helps protect you from all the "find the new polling place" inconvenience, long lines or heck any of us can get sick in flu season right? Some polling places are in sketchy neighborhoods.

Sully has a good set of letters about obama v romney organizations
[Link: andrewsullivan.thedailybeast.com...]

Here's my favorite overview:

On the macro level, if you take the entire campaign at its face value as a business - a job creator, even? - the Obama campaign had a higher return on investment, ran a better strategy, implemented better tools and metrics to achieve its targets, spent its money more wisely, had a more efficient staff org chart and better managers. In the free market system, it was a strikingly successful example of entrepreneurial acumen. Romney and Rove were beat at their own game.

example from a 2008 Obama enthusiast who was lukewarm this time around:

I had very little to do with the Obama For America website this election, however, in an attempt to escape the onslaught of harassing television and radio ads, direct mail pieces and a phone that rang so may times a day I ended up unplugging it, I voted early. Low and behold, a few days after I voted I received an email from OFA thanking me for voting. It had an invitation to a get out the vote event at a neighbor's home a few blocks from my home. When I clicked the response box that I could not attend a window popped up giving me several alternatives to helping the campaign such as making phone calls. Get out the vote opportunities continued to pop up in my email the remaining weeks of the campaign.

On election day, I got several text messages from OFA asking me to make a few calls. Can you make 5 calls? No. Can you make 3 calls? No. Can you make 1 call? Yes. That's a ground game.

As is often the case here at the Military Religious Freedom Foundation (MRFF), while in the course of investigating one report of constitutionally questionable activity within our armed forces, we stumble into something else that’s just as bad or worse.[...]

While perusing the rest of the Air Force Times issue, [MRFF Founder] Weinstein noticed a half-page ad for a book by Army chaplain Lt. Col. William McCoy, titled Under Orders: A Spiritual Handbook for Military Personnel. With a title like that, MRFF, of course, had to find out just what this book was about, and this is what we found — a pro-Christian, anti-atheist book heartily endorsed by none other than Gen. David Petraeus…Contrary to the old “no atheists in foxholes” movie line, the percentage of non-theists in the military, according to a report from the Population Reference Bureau, is actually somewhat higher than it is among the civilian population.

This isn’t the first time MRFF has taken issue with an endorsement by Gen. Petraeus. Last November, while looking into the completely unconstitutional practice of mandatory Christian concerts being foisted upon our soldiers during basic training at several of the Army’s largest training installations [...]

That isn't a problem. It is a problem if they are sending Bibles translated in kurdu and farsi to the overseas troops and asking them to hand them out. One recent BBC documentary which I missed is "Conspiracy Road Trip: Creationism", about which John Hawks blogged today, pointing to a Jerry Coyne piece, who in turned pointed to a Prothero piece in which the latter described his experience in making the show:

A SURREAL JOURNEY AMONG THE CREATIONISTS

[...] None of them could give coherent answers to the scientific evidence, yet nonetheless were determined to stick with their beliefs. This was no surprise to any of us, since evidence doesn’t matter to creationists. They have an entire worldview which is wrapped about the salvation of their immortal soul and the fear of rejecting the literal interpretation of the Bible, so that comes first and everything else is unimportant. They reject evolution only because they’ve been told to do so by religious leaders, even though they have no clue what it’s about; what they think they know about it is wrong. Indeed, they showed the classic response of a true believer: when something threatens your worldview, you cling to it even more strongly and find any way you can to dismiss or ignore contrary evidence. That, apparently, is the point of the entire show, since the 9/11 truthers and the UFO nuts act the same way. But given the way the show was framed, it’s clear that the producers want to put these creationists on camera as object lessons on how irrational and dogmatic and impervious to evidence they really are, even while showing less dogmatic viewers that scientists can be friendly and reasonable and have all the evidence. Given the low level of creationist beliefs in the U.K., this is probably not a hard sell, but I’d be interested to see if it airs in the U.S. where creationism still claims about 40% of the U.S. population.

[...]

Prothero's blog entry is long but I highly recommended reading it, especially as he describes the unwillingness of the young creationists to deal with the evidence the scientists present before their eyes.

You can view the the BBC show for yourself:

Comedian Andrew Maxwell takes five British creationists to the west coast of America to try to convince them that evolution rather than creationism explains how we all got here. Stuck on a bus across 2,000 miles of dustbowl roads with these passionate believers, Maxwell tackles some firmly held beliefs - could the Earth be only 6,000 years old, and did humans and T-Rex really live side by side? It's a bumpy ride as he's confronted with some lively debates along the way, but by the end could he possibly win over any of these believers with what he regards as hard scientific fact?

Just like at first we heard this was about unauthorized access to Petraeus' email and possibly national secrets. Now we find out it was only emails sent by Broadwell that triggered the investigation.

I'm sticking by my bet, there is no story here except that after Petraeus stopped seeing her Broadwell flipped out and started emailing his wife.

But...

Suppose your right and it was another woman at the CIA, all that might mean is that Broadwell was jealous of her and thought Petraeus had stopped seeing her to be with this other woman. It doesn't mean it was in any way true, how many times have we all heard stories like this in the press? (usually because they end with someone getting hurt)

Scientists unlock nature's hydrogen secrets

Two Canberra scientists believe they have made a major breakthrough in how to best produce hydrogen which can be used as a clean and renewable energy source.

Professors Rob Stranger and Ron Pace from the Research School of Chemistry at the Australian National University (ANU) have used computer modelling to reveal the molecular structure of the photosynthesis reaction site in plants.

Professor Pace says the discovery takes a leaf out of nature's handbook, for the first time identifying the specific water molecules in a plant's photosystem that are converted into oxygen.

"Nature very early on in the evolutionary process on Earth figured out how to do this particular piece of chemistry with close to 100 per cent efficiency," he said.

Professor Stranger says the work offers clues as to how scientists can create alternative fuel.

"The part of the plant's photosystem that is important to this process is called the oxygen-evolving-complex (OEC)," he said.

"If we can steal nature's secrets and understand how the OEC performs its chemistry, then we can learn to make hydrogen much more efficiently, and hydrogen is the fuel for a totally renewable fuel future."
Audio: Scientists unlock secrets to photosynthesis (PM)

Professor Pace says that while scientists know the OEC contains four manganese atoms and a calcium atom, they have been trying for decades to determine the exact structure of the system and how it works.

"Our work confirms the OEC structure and means researchers can progress new fuel developments based on photosynthesis," he said.

'The collapse of the impressive career of CIA Director David H. Petraeus was triggered when a woman with whom he was having an affair sent threatening e-mails to another woman close to him, according to three senior law enforcement officials with knowledge of the episode.

When Petraeus’s name surfaced, FBI investigators were concerned that the CIA director’s personal e-mail account had been hacked and that national security had been threatened. [ ... ]

The identity of the woman who received the e-mails was not disclosed, and the nature of her relationship with Petraeus is unknown. The officials said the woman did not work at the CIA and was not Petraeus’s wife, Holly. The law enforcement officials said the e-mails indicated that Broadwell perceived the other woman as a threat to her relationship with Petraeus.'

Love it.

The supreme irony is that most Muslims could be pegged as social conservatives by any metric. In the main, they are pro-life, anti-gay rights, and have no problems with public displays of religion; and more than a few are (Old-Earth) Creationists. I guess I'm an exception to all that, but hey, that's just me. I believe in science, equality, and freedom of conscience. In any event, one would think that Muslims are natural GOP voters.

Of course, when the GOP demonizes them and many on the right voice openly exterminationist sentiments toward Muslims, it sort of alienates Muslims. Think the RWNJ's will realize this? Nah........never in a million years.

GOP Outreach!

The RW journalists only have income because stupid people keep supporting them. Stupid people keep supporting them only because the RW journalists say what they want to hear. This can only lead to a slow spiral down the toilet bowl for both.

He did not resign from military life or public service when Obama became CiC. Hence: Democrat.

Geez, they just can't stop themselves from talking about rape.

The embassy wasn't correctly guarded. Hillary took responsibility, when I guess some people think it should have gone to the top. She did what Eric Holder refuses to do in Fast and Furious. She protected the Oval Office.

It is I....I! Jubair Ali al-Jazar al-Sayed who shall be named as the head of the CIA, and this Thanksgiving Day, my plan shall come to fruition! I shall have my super secret stealth jihad halal Butterball turkeys and halal Campbell's Soup delivered to households great and small throughout America, all filled with secret Muslim incantations! And then, when you foolish kuffar have imbibed and eaten your fill of it's tender, jihadi goodness, at 21:00 EST, I shall stand facing toward the sacred Kabaa in Mecca in my office, and recite, "La ilaha ilallah, Muhammadun Rasulluhlah!" and behold! You shall all be converted instantly to Islam! Then I shall say, "Bismillah ar-Rahman ar-Rahim" and recite Surah Fatiha, and President Obama shall be magically transformed into the Mahdi, and America at that moment will be forever known as the United Islamic States of the Caliphate!

BWAHAHAHAHAHA!

Seriously.....this woman needs some serious help. She's a nut.

Evening Lizards. Late to the show. That thing called work that us 47% seem to want to avoid so we can suck at the Governments teat and all.

How about this for a conspiracy theory?

Gen. Petraeus, (Head of the C.I.A.) couldn't keep his dick in his pants and was found/sold out (compromised). Someone tried to take advantage of it and attempted to blackmail him. Doing the only honorable thing he could do in this situation, he let his superiors know what was going on and stepped down.

He can still be called before a Senate panel for questioning.

But as a civilian/non governmental entity, he has more wiggle room to tell the Star Chamber Squad to shove it up their ass.

Even though I call her a "nut", I don't discount her at all. In my view, both her and Spencer are dangerous; not themselves, personally, but what they can inspire in their acolytes. I think they can easily motivate their audience to violence; they're usually running at just a hair below lynch-mob intensity.
