Read of the Day: Neal Rauhauser, Brett Kimberlin, and a Right Wing Blueprint

How wingnuts abused positions of privilege to pursue political vendettas
Wingnuts • Views: 29,562

Here, my friends, is the fascinating tale of Neal Rauhauser, Brett Kimberlin, and a Right Wing Blueprint. With lots of details about some extremely sleazy and very real conspiracies to cause real harm to real people.

Starring Andrew Breitbart, and also featuring Los Angeles Deputy District Attorney Patrick Frey (aka “Patterico”) and his occasional co-blogger Aaron Worthing (real name: Aaron Walker), with whom you may be familiar if you’re an LGF reader — since they once posted an enchanting wingnut fantasy about chopping off my head, disemboweling me, and eating my innards.

Charles Johnson, I will metaphorically crush you. I will metaphorically disembowel you and eat your innards.

What is best in life? To metaphorically crush your enemies, see them driven metaphorically before you, and to hear the metaphorical lamentation of their metaphorical women.

Something to feel better about:

Allen West trails by even more votes after recount

The odds of Rep. Allen B. West (R-Fla.) prevailing in Florida’s 18th District race grew longer Sunday when a recount of early ballots yielded Democratic opponent Patrick Murphy a net gain of nearly 300 votes, expanding his lead over the incumbent to more than 2,000 votes.

A St. Lucie County recount resulted in Murphy gaining 274 votes, the Associated Press reported. Murphy’s campaign continued to claim victory, while West’s campaign refused to give in just yet, the AP also reported. But the Republican’s options appear to be limited. His deficit is outside the automatic recount threshold, and time is running out.

Dear [name of company]:

I am writing to you as a [former or potential] customer, to tell you why I will not be doing business with you, purchasing your products or services, nor speaking well of you to my family and friends.

You are highly-rated by the "Human Rights Campaign" as a company supportive of many aspects of the homosexual activist agenda. I am hoping you have done this out of ignorance about the true nature of both homosexuality and the goals of aggressive homosexual advocacy, such as that promoted by the Human Rights Campaign (HRC).

Dear [insert bigot name]:

We are in receipt of your recent letter, which we find contains some statements that are factually inaccurate. There is no evidence that people with same-sex attraction are harmful to society. If fact in our company's direct experience, many of our LGBT employees have been some of the most constructive and productive employees we have ever had. By bearing false witness, you yourself are doing harm to society, which depends on facts, truth and accuracy in building a good society.

You letter, frankly, is discredited by our company. Please do not contact us further. Of course, your business is not welcome.

Sincerely,

Kenneth the Page Bobby Jindal Confident Women Will Vote GOP if Republicans Just Stop Saying What They Actually Believe

Jindal's big solution to getting women to vote Republican? Don't tell women what Republicans actually believe! Piss on their legs and tell them it's raining, very politely.

What Jindal doesn't seem to understand is that what was the problem with statements like Mourdock's and Akin's wasn't the specific words those men chose — although the words were pretty shit-awful. What made women wretch were the ideas behind the words, the idea that the physical trauma of pregnancy that results from the physical trauma of rape should be enforced by the state (or, um, celebrated like a rapey blessing, as Mourdock suggested). Jindal's plan to keep doing everything the same, but more sneaky-like, isn't going to convince women to vote for GOP candidates. Just because Twilight sold fifty gazillion copies doesn't mean women are a bunch of idiots.

In fact, that might be a great GOP Women Awareness slogan— Women: We Aren't Stupid! Someone get Karl Rove on the horn.

I don't understand this one. What was the plot? The piece is too disjointed for me to follow it.

I looked into it earlier this summer. It's complicated, a bunch of obscure people most of us have never heard of before. In my (very unpopular opinion) there's nobody to like in the whole mess. It started when some wingnuts found out a progressive activist blogger (brett kimberlin) was involved in a series of bombings in the 80's. Also allegations of a murder and child molestation. It turned into a blogwar pissing match. lawsuits, stalking, harassment. Nasty stuff.
