Romney Joins the 47% Getting Handouts From the President

Free stuff

President Obama has invited Mitt Romney to a private lunch at the White House tomorrow, which officially makes Romney part of the 47% who just want “free stuff” from the President.

The White House announced the event Wednesday, in a statement released by Mr. Obamas press secretary. The lunch will take place in the Private Dining Room, next to the Oval Office in the West Wing, the White House said.

It will be the first opportunity they have had to visit since the election, the statement says. There will be no press coverage of the meeting.

In fact, the meeting will be closely watched. The two men competed intensely for the better part of a year. Mr. Romney, in private conversations with donors shortly after the election, blamed his loss in part on the president promising gifts to Democratic constituencies like minorities and students.

I hope the president gives Mitt a "gift" of a t-shirt that says something along the lines of, "My campaign donors spent $752 Million and all I got was this lousy t-shirt."

A nice lunch and a handshake is precisely the maximum amount of recognition Romney could be considered to deserve, and exactly as much involvement as he should have in the future of this country.

I'm sure Obama is too gracious to do any of the many things that crossed my mind.

Agreed. He'd have nothing to gain by being an ass and a lot to lose.

Who knows, maybe something good might come out of this. Obama, after all, got Chris Christie and The Boss to talk to each other.

"Now don't worry, Mitt. I'm sure that a man with your qualifications will have no problem finding a job. And even if it takes time, there's plenty of programs that can help you get by."

"Really?"
"No."

Hagee: ID Cards are not the Mark of the Beast

Finally, someone is clearing up this nonsen...

Yesterday on the "Hagee Hotline," John Hagee sought to reassure his audience that these sorts of ID cards are not the Mark of the Beast ... because that won't come until after the Rapture and the chips will be directly implanted in people's bodies. So it's not until the government starts forcing people to get implanted with such chips and "to keep laws that you don't want to keep," Hagee explained, "that you're in trouble":

It goes beyond being racist, elitist douchebags, it has to do with being poor political strategists: how does it help them if all they can do is to gain an ever-growing share of an ever-shrinking demographic group?

Suggest that it would be *patriotic* for them to maintain residence and pay the taxes passed by their country's legitimately elected government.

Another Republican loser, Heather Wilson, offers advice on immigration reform in the Washington Times.

[...]

Those seeking normalization should be sponsored by an American who knows them personally and can attest that they would benefit America by staying. Such immigrants would not be eligible to apply for citizenship for some years. They would not be eligible to sponsor other family members for visas or for public benefits such as welfare, public housing or publicly funded health care.

This needs to be a process of repentance, accountability, demonstration of merit and forgiveness, not a bureaucratic process of checking paperwork. The process of normalization itself will help America and immigrants move forward to a better place.

Ideas like these will get our country beyond the sterile debates of the past seven years on immigration. It’s time to begin the conversation.

Repentance and forgiveness? Really?

I'm proud to have cast a vote for the guy that beat her, New Mexico's new senator elect, Martin Heinrich.

Given how Romney's team is acting (saying they won the votes that mattered), I think President Obama should make him eat at the kids' table tomorrow.

They must repent for violating our sacred border and our laws and beg forgiveness for not just rounding them up and dumping them off at the border somewhere...

O.T. "Conservative Fact Check" is at it again, this time linking to an Blog posting by Sheryl Nuxoll-(R-Id) that repeats the already debunked theory about a quorum being required in the Electoral College and calling her a "Hero."

She fell for and re-posted that absurd WND article by Judson Phillips that claimed the GOP could have the election go to a vote in the House by getting 17 states to withhold their electoral votes.

Anyone here still strongly believe that CFC isn't a Poe site?

I can think of one famous example right off the top of my head...

Of course it wasn't a 50% rate that made them leave England it was a 95% tax rate that did it.

My first thought is that 2009 numbers would be people filing for the 2008 fiscal year. They of course would be making less money after the financial meltdown. Some probably left but it's possible that many of them were just making less money.

Unless there is a source for the claim better than this

Almost two-thirds of the country’s million-pound earners disappeared from Britain after the introduction of the 50p top rate of tax, figures have disclosed.

It is up to them to back it up.
What/whose figures?

I'm struggling to appreciate why Obama is going to pay any attention whatsoever to a man who lies every time he opens his mouth. Why would - or should - anyone pay attention to a thing he says? He has no credibility at all.
