God Tells Erick Erickson to Go for the Cash

Prayer pays off
Wingnuts • Views: 24,561

Following up on our post about Redstate blogger Erick Erickson and his “prayerful consideration” of a primary challenge to newly christened RINO Saxby Chambliss, this is one of those rare occasions in which God actually told a right winger he shouldn’t run for office because it would be a terrible strain on his family.

And also, Erickson would make a lot less money. God, in this case, is acting as Mr. Erickson’s business manager.

“Were I to run for the Senate, it would be a terribly nasty campaign,” Erickson wrote at Red State. “It’d actually be really awesome, but it’d be really nasty. I have a seven year old, a soon to be four year old, and a wife who does not like being anywhere near a stage. I’m not putting my family through that when the best outcome would mean a sizable cut in pay and being away from my kids and wife all the time huddled in a pit of vipers often surrounded by too many who viewed me as a useful instrument to their own advancement.”

Senators make $174,000 a year, but Erickson, in addition to his website and radio show, is a paid TV commentator for CNN.

Cook Political Report editor Jennifer Duffy told The Hill she didn’t take Erickson’s potential candidacy too seriously, calling it “chest-thumping” likely made in a “fit of pique.” She said Erickson probably doesn’t have the name recognition within the state that he thinks he has and would have to drop his television gig and generally excel at a lot of the political operations outsiders tend to underestimate.

Erick son of Erick thinks too highly of himself, in other words.

Erick Erickson Mulling Whether to Be Next Todd Akin (UPDATE: He Won't)

To recap, Erickson:

Expressed his surprise that "feminazis" had complained about then-Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow's pro-life Super Bowl ad in 2010. As he put it: "That's what being too ugly to get a date does for your brain." That was followed by this tweet: "Turned on Twitter today and there was a barrage of angry feminists upset with me telling them to get in the kitchen and learn to cook."
Once called Michelle Obama a "Marxist Harpy Wife."
Referred to the first night of the Democrat National Convention as the "Vagina Monologues."
Dismissed bullying of a presumed gay classmate as: "Mitt Romney cut a hippy's hair at his preparatory high school."
Argued that civil war may be unavoidable if Roe v. Wade is not overturned. As Erickson put it: "[O]nce before, our nation was forced to repudiate the Supreme Court with mass bloodshed. We remain steadfast in our belief that this will not be necessary again, but only if those committed to justice do not waiver or compromise, and send a clear and unmistakable signal to their elected officials of what must be necessary to earn our support."
Called for more Willie Horton ads, citing the invisible scourge of the New Black Panthers: "The Democrats are giving a pass to radicals who advocate killing white kids in the name of racial justice and who try to block voters from the polls. The Democrats will scream racism. Let them. Republicans are not going to pick up significant black support anyway."
Contemplated shooting bureaucrats:
Contemplated shooting bureaucrats again:
Referred to former Justice David Souter as "the only goat fucking child molester to ever serve on the Supreme Court."

Perhaps God provided the same bulleted list.

Addendum: the italicized statement...incoherent or pro-slavery nullification?

I keep getting these calls from a Windows Maintenance company telling me they're getting notices from my computer that it's running slow. They just want to help.

They run like hell when I tell them I'm a computer expert and they're a scam.

I love those calls, they are so funny.

I wish I had some way of infecting their systems with a virus.

It's not all spite. Bibi's also shoring up support in advance of the coming election. The cease fire has eroded his poll numbers with the Israeli public, who it seems were in favor of a ground invasion of Gaza.
