Rick Santorum Promotes His Loony Anti-UN Conspiracy Theory at the Daily Beast

WTF!
Wingnuts • Views: 26,480

Apparently, Tina Brown, publisher of the Daily Beast, sees nothing wrong with sharing the opinion pieces of heartless bastard Rick Santorum with whacked out conspiracy website World Net Daily, because today Santorum shows up at the Daily Beast with another column, still lying about the UN disability rights treaty just voted down by Senate Republicans: Santorum: UN Disabilities Treaty Would’ve Had Bureaucrats Unseat Parents.

I won’t even quote from this repulsive drivel, in which Santorum again shamelessly uses his own disabled daughter to advance his dishonest claims. I’ll just point out that every word in it is utterly false, including “the” and “and.”

The fact is that no UN treaty can ever supersede the US Constitution or the laws of the United States, as ruled many times by the Supreme Court. Santorum is promoting a flat out, scurrilous, evil lie, deliberately told to mislead people. Why does the Daily Beast publish far right dishonesty like this?

From World Net Daily straight to the Daily Beast. Bad craziness on steroids.

It's not very often that an alleged news organization so thoroughly, completely, and instantly discredits itself in my eyes. Usually it's a long, slow and depressing process.

Thanks for saving me time, Tina!

Right Fears ‘Purge’ As GOP Leadership Takes Control

Conservatives fear they’re being pushed aside by Republican leaders as the party looks to regroup from its election losses.

“At the end of the day we lost seats in the House, we lost seats in the Senate, we couldn’t win the presidency, and the response is to purge conservatives,” Rep. Tim Huelskamp (R-KS) said Tuesday during a briefing at the conservative Heritage Foundation think tank in Washington.

Huelskamp is one of four Republicans who were stripped of committee seats this week for bucking leadership over the last term. Huelskamp lost his spot on the Budget Committee, where he voted against the House GOP’s budget last year along with Rep. Justin Amash (R-MI), who also was removed this week. David Schweikert (R-AZ) and Walter Jones (R-NC), who also voted against the budget from the right, lost seats on the Financial Services Committee.

“It confirms, in my mind, the deepest suspicions of most Americans about Washington, D.C.,” Huelskamp said. “It’s petty, its vindictive, and if you have any conservative principles you will be punished for articulating those.”

Boykin: Everything Obama's Doing has Come Straight Out of the 'Communist Manifesto'

Every year, WallBuilders hosts an event called "The Pro-Family Legislators Conference" designed to provide an opportunity for "conservative pro-family State legislators from across the United States to come together for an insightful briefing session with leading experts in a variety of fields that touch many of the most crucial areas of public service."

Among the speakers at this year's conference, held shortly after the election, included David Barton, Rick Green, Glenn Beck, Daniel Lapin, Kris Kobach, and Jerry Boykin. For the last few weeks, WallBuilders has been airing some of the speeches that were delivered at the conference and today aired part of Boykin's remarks in which he warned that, because President Obama was re-elected, Sharia law would continue to spread while religious liberty would come under even greater attack and America would continue on the path toward becoming a completely Marxist nation straight out of the "Communist Manifesto":

What lexical category is a Benghazi?

23 Dr Lizardo  Wed, Dec 5, 2012 12:37:25pm

Dear Rick Santorum:

I would like to point out to you a better example of Catholicism then what you represent.

In Berlin, there is a house. Nondescript, ordinary, your typical residential apartment block. In that house there lives a group of Jesuits. These men take in the homeless. They help people overcome their addictions to booze and drugs. They even take in occasional illegal immigrants, and help them get their residency status sorted so they can stay in the country. They open their house every Saturday for breakfast for anyone who wishes to come. They ask for no money from those who stay there, only a little help around the house such as keeping it clean and with cooking and whatnot. They take people without regard to nationality, creed or color. They were my neighbors. They helped me learn more about the metaphysical dimensions of Sufism. They enjoyed going to the Sufi center and watching the dervishes and participating in the dhikr. They were good, decent, and in my opinion Godly men in every positive meaning of that term. They even invited the Sufi center's Sheikh over to help with spiritual counseling for Muslim immigrants and formed a small network with him for that very purpose.

These men were the servants of Jesus Christ (a.s.) and followed his example in their treatment of others. I would suggest that should you, Mr. Santorum, ever find yourself in Berlin, that you visit them. Perhaps even stay with them for awhile. You might learn something about the faith you claim to represent, but fail in its practice.

Sincerely yours,
Dr. Lizardo

Over 100 Wounded In Egypt Protest

Supporters and opponents of Egyptian leader Mohammed Morsi fought with rocks, firebombs and sticks outside the presidential palace in Cairo on Wednesday in large-scale clashes that marked the worst violence of a deepening crisis over the disputed constitution.

Egypt's Health Ministry said 126 people were wounded in the clashes that were still raging hours after nightfall.

Three of Morsi's aides resigned in protest of his handling of the crisis. With two aides who had quit earlier, now five of his panel of 17 advisers have left their jobs since the problems began.

More Proof Climate Change is Real

Yes, climate change exists. The climate has been changing for billions of years according to scientists. The latest "whale grave yard" discovery in Chile is just another example of Earth's climate changes over the years.

Chilean scientists together with researchers from the Smithsonian Institution have begun to unearth one of the world's best preserved graveyards of prehistoric whales in the hopes of finding out how these bus sized animals wound up in the same corner of the Atacama Desert in Chile.

More than 2 million years ago, scores of whales congregating off the Pacific Coast of South America mysteriously met their end.

Maybe they became disoriented and beached themselves. Maybe they were trapped in a lagoon by a landslide or a storm. Maybe they died there over a period of a few millennia. But somehow, they ended up right next to one another, many just meters (yards) apart, entombed as the shallow sea floor was driven upward by geological forces and transformed into the driest place on the planet.

Today, the whales have emerged again atop a desert hill more than a kilometer (half a mile) from the surf.

Fossil fuel powered vehicles, driven by man, did not exist two million years ago. Sorry Al Gore.

Looks like the first shot might have been fired in the Republican "civil war".

The rich will pay more taxes, Boehner says

Washington (CNN) -- Taxes on the wealthy are going up, House Speaker John Boehner conceded Wednesday in challenging President Barack Obama to sit down with him to hammer out a deal for avoiding the fiscal cliff.

Obama, however, continued to insist on Republicans first ensuring no tax hike for anyone but the top 2% of Americans as a first step toward a broader agreement on tackling the nation's chronic federal deficits and debt.
[...]
The major unresolved question of negotiations involving the White House and congressional leaders is whether eliminating tax deductions and loopholes -- as proposed by House Republicans -- can raise enough revenue without hitting middle-class Americans too hard.

"We have got to cut spending and I believe it is appropriate to put revenues on the table," Boehner told reporters on Wednesday. "Now, the revenues that we are putting on the table are going to come from guess who? The rich."

He continued by saying "there are ways to limit deductions, close loopholes and have the same people pay more of their money to the federal government without raising tax rates, which we believe will harm our economy."

The Tea-hadists are gonna be downright apoplectic over this one.

Hey, look at this story out of TPM:

Organizations advocating for disabled people and veterans were stunned on Tuesday after a large majority of Senate Republicans blocked the ratification of a U.N. treaty aimed at securing rights for disabled people around the world, including several senators who had previously pledged to support it, Foreign Policy's Josh Rogin reports:

After months of diligent lobbying, these organizations were confident they had the support of several GOP senators who ended up opposing ratification of the U.N. Treaty on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

But GOP offices were flooded in the days leading up to the vote by calls from supporters of several rightwing groups, including Rick Santorum's Patriot PAC, the Family Research Council, and the advocacy arm of the Heritage Foundation.

In the end, the Senate voted 61-38, five votes short of the 66 needed to ratify the treaty.

Murray: Obama Channeling Hitler and Creating 'Unholy Alliances with Evil'

After warning that government programs like Social Security turn people gay, Government Is Not God PAC head William Murray writes in WorldNetDaily today that President Obama is using Adolf Hitler as a model to pursue his “false Garden of Eden on Earth.” He says that just as Hitler used money stolen from Jews he sent to death camps to fund his war effort, Obama is trying to raise taxes on the rich to build a “culture of dependency.”

Murray also claims that Obama is targeting Jews and Christians because their faiths are getting in the way of his attempt to grow the size of government, while supposedly aiding Muslims, “radical environmentalists, Christian-hating atheists, homosexual radicals” and liberals. As Democrats put together “unholy alliances with evil,” Murray warns that if conservatives don’t embrace anti-choice and anti-gay positions then the U.S. will face God’s judgment.

This, to Ross, is not merely unpatriotic, but "decadent," a loaded word that indicates that His Eminence has lived the sheltered life of an entombed cleric. People reacted rather strongly to this contention, so he has come back today to revise and to extend — and I do mean "extend," if you understand what I'm saying, and I think you do — his remarks.

Someone very intelligently pointed out the other day that the increased amount of 'safe' GOP districts attained by gerrymandering means those districts aren't 'safe' for incumbents anymore, they're very vulnerable to nutjob-from-the-right primaries. Add in the huge amount of money being thrown around on fringe candidates on the right, and you may get a recipe for long-standing radicalization of the GOP-- until they un-geryymander and make seats 'risky' so that they can appeal to the middle.

Is the Republican Party starting to recover? Probably too much to hope for but Boehner's "purge" and Rubio's admission that the Earth is billions of years old are certainly hopeful signs.

They have so far to go to even achieving anecdotal sound bite crazier/less-crazy parity, never mind showing motion in the actual direction of sanity.

No, these guys have not changed their beliefs, if any. Rubio may be a lot of things, but he is not an idiot. He is an educated man and there is no chance he ever took the creationist claptrap seriously.

I think they are just tired of sucking up to nutcases and it has finally dawned on them that they don't have to do it.

No, the "purge" wasn't the loons being thrown out, just marginalized. And Caribou Barbie's already promising revenge come '14. No, the GOP knows they can't get rid of the loonies, as they're the party base now. Rubio was saying that the Earth's billions of years old in the same interview where "faith teaches us" that homosexuality is a sin.

re: #68 TedStriker

"Central-planning attempts at creating a utopia have always been paid for with stolen money, and most have lasted only until the stolen money was all spent. Hitler, for example, was indeed anti-Semitic, but his hatred of the Jews had practical applications as well. He stole the homes, furniture, jewels, money and even gold teeth of the Jews he killed to finance his thousand-year utopian dream that lasted less than three decades and caused the deaths of tens of millions and the destruction of entire cities. He ran out of stolen money to finance his war machine and bring his utopian dream to the world. Toward the end he even tried to trade the Hungarian Jews who were still alive to the Allies for cash.

To create the “common good” and have “economic equality,” a central government must “plan.” Barack Hussein Obama has vastly increased government to expand the central planning that already existed, thanks to both political parties. His version of central planning covers everything from “green energy” to forcing religious institutions to pay for contraceptives and abortions. His utopian central-planning czars want to control our energy use, our diets and our incomes. Next government will tell us where and when we can talk about our faith in the Lord.

There is freedom in central planning, but as F.A. Hayek pointed out in his famous book “Road to Serfdom,” it is the “unlimited freedom of the planner to do with the society what he pleases.” Judeo-Christianity, which emphasizes the freedom of the individual under a supreme God, is not compatible with a central planner’s visions of a society in which “all gods are equal” under government. On the planet Barack Hussein Obama comes from, his vision of social good comes first, and all religions – except Islam – must conform to the centrally planned society. Individual freedom is not possible in a centrally planned society."

Not even marginalized. Until evidence to the contrary, just traded for different loons.

Everything's bigger in Texas, especially the derp:

Right-Wingers Target Two GOP Texas Ed Board Members, Accuse Them of Promoting ‘Socialist Ideology’

Right-wing activists are angry with a couple of Republican members of the State Board of Education who have refused to hop on their crazy train. The source of their anger (right now, anyway) is CSCOPE, the curriculum management tool that we reported about last month. CSCOPE is a product of a collaboration of regional Education Service Centers created by the state in the 1960s. Many Texas school districts use CSCOPE. Some teachers have found it very helpful, while others don’t like it for a variety of pedagogical reasons. But during a state board committee hearing on November 15, right-wing political activists attacked the program for supposedly promoting Marxism and radical Islam while trying to undermine America and Christianity. One speaker even compared CSCOPE to Nazi Germany.

Conservative science: just make shit up. The fossils are 2 to 7 million years old ("pod of 80 ancient baleen whales"). They are 1KM from shore and they believe it was a mass death of sorts in what was once a "lagoon like environment."

7? That number is common in the Bible.

So it's the Great Flood.

It's just such an amazing degree of scientific ignorance to think that the claim of AGW is that the earth has never experienced climate change before humans, and that only humans have affected the climate.

Hell, AGW isn't even inconsistent with young-earth creationism. Let's great that god did create the earth 6000 years ago. He still made carbon-dioxide something that traps heat in the atmosphere, and it's still warming up the earth.

That's what denial of AGW really is. It's denial of a basic physical property of carbon dioxide. It's like claiming that oxygen isn't flammable.

Oxygen isn't flammable, hydrogen isn't flammable. My gut tells me so since if you put them together you get water that puts out fires.

90 Bulworth  Wed, Dec 5, 2012 2:04:23pm

Yes, climate change exists. The climate has been changing for billions of years according to scientists.

Notice the "according to scientists". Naturally, scientists, or any profession really that purports to observe, test and report things, is suspect in the magical conservative kingdom.
