Speaking of videos, and following on to my post downstairs, there are many AGU videos from this fall's meeting, now online at youtube.

Here are a couple:

The Race to understand a changing planet:

3 Kragar  Fri, Dec 7, 2012 5:05:49pm

Can we get all GOP committee members to watch this video daily before they start work?

4 Charles Johnson  Fri, Dec 7, 2012 5:12:15pm

The audience shots crack me up every time.

5 Charles Johnson  Fri, Dec 7, 2012 5:13:15pm

Ok, one more AGU video.

Ray Pierrehumbert does an excellent presentation on climatology, especially the process of the scientific discovery through prediction, failure and success:

Tyndall Lecture: GC43I. Successful Predictions

Body of the lecture starts around 3:40:

If you can follow Ray's presentation you will be inoculated against many of the various false claims of the deniers when they misstate what the science actually is.

 Frank says:

Interviewer:
The notion of a "guitar solo" has preconceptions based on it; people automatically refute it because it's supposed to be self-indulgent or "for musicians." It's almost like things become iconographic and somehow lose their value for outsiders.

Zappa:
Well, whose fault is that? That's what writers do. Musicians don't do that. The average person doesn't sit around thinking about the "iconographic problems of a guitar solo." -- Interview for Musician magazine, by Matt Resnicoff, November 1991. Reprinted in July 1995 Issue.
