The Benghazi Fake Scandal Returns at #Breitbart.com

The only kind of recycling wingnuts believe in
Wingnuts • Views: 22,763

Today at the reliably unhinged breitbart.com, we discover an article screaming, “NO SHOTS FIRED: STATE DEPT BENGHAZI SECURITY FORCE UNARMED!

Can anyone spot the huge honking problem in their lead paragraph?

A source with personal knowledge of the security situation in Benghazi told Breitbart News

Why, sure — I’ll believe an anonymous source cited by “Breitbart News!”

Who’s more credible than the people who promoted the idiotic fake controversy over Harvard Prof. Derrick Bell, or the people who think The Onion is antisemitic, or the people who posted pictures of Libyan rescuers trying to save Ambassador Stevens and labeled them as “terrorists dragging his body through the streets,” or the dishonest right wing shills who falsely claimed Obama was trying to restrict military voting?

I could go on for a long, long time in this vein. The bottom line, in case my snark wasn’t obvious enough, is that anyone who believes an anonymous source from “Breitbart News” is living in Wingnut Fantasy World.

And of course, the Breitbart commenters are as adorable as always:

IMPEACH obama

[…]

IMPEACH AND PROSECUTE FOR THE BENGAZI MURDERS….

[…]

Impeach, Imprison, and Execute for High Treason. Obama went into war in Libya without Congressional approval.

I'll tell you who takes an anonymous source leaking to Breitbart seriously. Anyone in the liberal media that's who.

I have come to think that this is ultimately nothing more than part of the nearly 40 year effort by the political right to identify a "scandal" that they can convince America is "worse than Watergate".

Moonie times, investigative reporter, Kerry Picket reports.

...And just what is it that makes Picket such an investigative ace? Breitbart remnant Tony Lee tells us that she conclusively proved that black legislators are a bunch of race-baiting liars, for one thing!

During the Obamacare protests in 2010, Picket debunked allegations made by prominent members of the Congressional Black Caucus … that Tea Party protestors shouted the N-word at Rep. [John] Lewis. Picket interviewed people who were at the Capitol Hill protests and went to police stations across Washington, D.C. to ask if police officers had heard of such an incident. She discovered there had been no complaints about protestors yelling the N-word, contrary to what mainstream media outlets were reporting at the time.

This source seems to have some issues with consistency. Key grafs, including the one on which the Breitbart headline is based:

When the attack came that night, they had to go back to the other room and grab their weapons. Then the worse part about it was they never even returned to be with the Ambassador. One returned to be with the Ambassador with his rifle. The other two went back to where there were [sic] barracks. And two stayed in that same building where there were radios and other weapons and the safe and other stuff was there.

There were no shots fired in return. On the embassy property, just the embassy property, none of those security agents blasted a single bullet from a single pistol or rifle at all in defense of the Ambassador—nothing.”

I've highlighted the discrepancy:

When the attack came that night, they had to go back to the other room and grab their weapons. Then the worse part about it was they never even returned to be with the Ambassador. One returned to be with the Ambassador with his rifle.

First the source claims that none of the agents returned to be with the ambassador. Yet, in the next sentence there's a contradiction in which the same source says one agent returned to be with the Ambassador with his rifle.

Which is it. None? One?

Then, there's the question of who/what returned fire. This source says none returned fire, and yet one doesn't get into a multi-hour firefight unless there was return fire from someone within the Embassy staff or the CIA attached to the Embassy.

The source also admits that testimony given to Sen. Feinstein in the hearing stated that there were never orders given to the security contingent to never shoot:

She wanted to know did they issue orders for [the security agents] not to shoot. Now they denied that to her in that meeting and they said, ‘No, we never did that. We never did that. We never issued orders that they should do that.’ ”

Breitbart.com Hires Double Down On The Bubble

Breitbart.com is in the midst of a hiring spree that promises to generate more pageviews and money for the publication while keeping its readers chasing Obama administration conspiracies for the next four years.

The publication is reportedly offering reporters from other right-wing outlets big salary increases and annual bonuses to sign four year contracts. It's no wonder that the website has money to spend; in at least one month this fall Breitbart.com passed its rivals to take the lead as the highest trafficked right-wing news site. Traffic drives ad sales, which, together with venture capital, has filled the publication's coffers.

What's significant is what Breitbart.com has done to build the traffic, and who they're planning on hiring with the resulting profits.

Continues.

Breitbart.com Hires Double Down On The Bubble

More:

One week after announcing Boyle's hire, Breitbart.com revealed that they had hired Kerry Picket, author of The Washington Times' The Water Cooler blog. The paper's former editorial page editor called it a "smart move for Breitbart News and a huge blow to the Washington Times," telling a reporter that Picket's blog "generates millions of pageviews a year."

It's no wonder. The Breitbart.com announcement highlighted Picket's reporting on topics such as "President Barack Obama's illegal immigrant uncle" and that "director Spike Lee tweeted out the wrong address for George Zimmerman at the height of the Trayvon Martin ordeal." These stories have little impact in mainstream circles but are catnip for the insular right-wing media readership.

Picket shares with Boyle a tendency toward conspiracy and away from facts. She participated in the Timesanti-gay war on then-Obama administration official Kevin Jennings, grossly distorting one set of his comments to claim he had supported "the promotion of homosexuality in the public school curriculum" and posted doctored transcript of another to falsely claim he wanted teachers to be required to "take an LGBT course." She drove a right-wing media firestorm by promoting the baseless claim from a "source who is friends with" the presidential campaign of Herman Cain that Chicago mayor Rahm Emanuel was "likely involved with the sexual harassment" allegations against the candidate. She used her blog to speculate that the new logo for the Missile Defense Agency "takes a cue from Obama campaign '08."

Just a generation ago, this place was called America. Now, after the worldwide implementation of a UN-led program called Agenda 21, it's simply known as "the Republic." There is no President. No Congress. No Supreme Court. No freedom.

No, the allegations that Hillary Clinton broke the law were crap. Don't forget that Whitewater ultimately resulted in several people going to prison, including Bill Clinton successor as governor of Arkansas. This last had a drawback, though, since it made Mike Huckabee the governor of the state. But Whitewater in and of itself was something worth investigating.

True, very true. Though it does bear repeating that had Bill Clinton not lied in deposition in the Paula Jones case, then Ken Starr would have never been handed the whole Lewinsky mess (DoJ assigned it to him, he didn't request it), and a great deal of brouhaha never would have ensued.

OT: A Charlie Sheen story wherein Charlie Sheen does not act like a jerk:

Charlie Sheen gave $75,000 to help a little girl fight cancer.

The 'Anger Management' actor had been speaking to a policeman in Hermosa Beach in California, when he discovered the officer's 10-year-old daughter, Jasmine, had been diagnosed with Childhood Rhabdomyosarcoma (CR).

Father-of-five Charlie is said to have told the officer, 'No parent should have to watch their kid go through that'.

And the next day, the actor sent a cheque for $75,000 to the Hermosa Beach Police Association, which had started a fund in Jasmine's honour.

According to TMZ.com, Charlie's stunt-double Eddie Braun also gave $25,000, and the the family is extremely grateful for the donation and hopes their actions will inspire others to join the fight against CR.

CR is a debilitating form of cancer that occurs in the muscle tissue and requires over a year of expensive medical treatments like chemotherapy and radiation therapy.

The law basically says unions can no longer automatically deduct funds from members' paychecks, and new employees at union houses don't have to join the union. I don't understand why they can't if the employee signs a form stating they can.

Management is counting on employees being self-interested enough and focused on the short-term by expecting them to game the system - get the benefits of union participation while not contributing to funding the union. And use that to reduce the unions ability to collect money for paying their leadership, lawyers, etc.

Steven Crowder knew very well that if he went into a crowd of very pissed off working class union members who had just had their livelihoods taken away by a dishonest gang of Republican 1%ers, and started spewing wingnut talking points at them, there was a pretty good chance he could get one of them to take a swing at him.

re: #47 Dark_Falcon

True, very true. Though it does bear repeating that had Bill Clinton not lied in deposition in the Paula Jones case, then Ken Starr would have never been handed the whole Lewinsky mess (DoJ assigned it to him, he didn't request it), and a great deal of brouhaha never would have ensued.

You write this as if Ken Starr was an innocent bureaucrat just doing his job as required by law. Which of course is bullshit. Starr searched and searched for Whitewater evidence to use against Clinton, then stumbled upon the Lewinsky affair. He was the special prosecutor and had some discretion...he chose to throw the book at Clinton for lying (in a civil--not criminal...deposition--not trial.)

If the whole thing was more than BS, Clinton wouldn't be--by far--the most popular living president. Fact is, the American people are (mostly) adults who don't give a shit if a guy, even the Prez, gets a blowjob and then keeps it a secret. At this point, the only people who care are hardcore partisans and puritans.

Upon further review, it seems that the AFP gang was itself about to take the tent down and some of the union members let their enthusiasm get away from them and decided to help out.
At the beginning of the Breitbart clip, a man shouts, "there it goes!," indicating that the tent was coming down at that point, yet we hear no shouting, cursing, or other signs of a real confrontation. A little later, the AFP guy (tan jacket and white badge) seems completely unconcerned with the union members pulling and tugging on the tent, nor are they paying much attention to him. Note also that the entire enormous tent structure collapses almost simultaneously, which is unlikely to be the result of a mob attack randomly slashing and pulling at the ropes.

131 Mad Prophet Ludwig  Tue, Dec 11, 2012 1:03:11pm

After following a number of comments and posts in the threads I wrote a little letter that I thought was worth posting here.

Do not let knee-jerk left-wing magical balance fairies dissuade you from stating the truth any more than right-wing magical balance fairies would.

Certain hot -button issues make certain people simply blind to any facts, truth, logic or evidence that does not fit their own internal narrative. The supposedly more educated and enlightened left, (and in general and certainly in America they are more enlightened and educated) is blind to the security realities of Israel, the deprivations of the Palestinian pseudo terrorist states, the larger Arab political game in which the Palestinians are pawns and the greater global power game in which both they and Israel are pawns - not to mention the actual factual history.

They want to see the Palestinians as poor and oppressed folks who are simply victims. That is their narrative. We Jews are good proxies for a lot of Western guilt. They can not stomach the idea that the Palestinians never fail to fail at peace, do not want peace and brought much of the situation on themselves. There would be no walls and checkpoints if there were no suicide bombers. That is why the walls and checkpoints were made. Because of the walls they turned to rockets. There would be no military clean ups in Gaza if there were no rocket attacks. Of course, Gaza used to be Egypt and it used to be the West bank of Jordan. There would be no Gaza or West Bank if not for the larger Arab political game.

But such details are not relevant to the fervid left. Don't even try to tell them about the crushed Palestinian coup in Jordan - or the obvious implications of that for the region. Don't even try to tell them about the three no's. Don't bother reminding them that Hamas really was voted into power on a "we murder more Jews campaign" and that the Palestinians therefore voted for war and honestly have responsibility when Hamas starts wars.

Many thousands more Arabs died in Syria, and are still dying than in the recent unpleasantness. Our lefty pearl clutchers barely seem to notice that. That was because it was Arab on Arab.

Such details are not relevant.

The left is nothing if not a hypocrite on Israel and just as blind to the truths of the situation as the right is on issues of climate, women's rights and the age of the universe.

They are just as blind.

They are just as unwilling to listen to reason.

Just like righties, they will glance past these facts and move to other talking points.

However, it is worth it and necessary to keep telling the truth. Not everyone has drunk this particular cool-aid.

re: #52 Sol Berdinowitz

Yeah, Peart goes back on Rand in this Rolling Stone interview. He calls himself a bleeding heart libertarian:

This is somewhat random, but you were interested in the writings of Ayn Rand decades ago. Do her words still speak to you?
Oh, no. That was 40 years ago. But it was important to me at the time in a transition of finding myself and having faith that what I believed was worthwhile. I had come up with that moral attitude about music, and then in my late teens I moved to England to seek fame and fortune and all that, and I was kind of stunned by the cynicism and the factory-like atmosphere of the music world over there, and it shook me. I'm thinking, "Am I wrong? Am I stupid and naïve? This is the way that everybody does everything and, had I better get with the program?"

For me, it was an affirmation that it's all right to totally believe in something and live for it and not compromise. It was a simple as that. On that 2112 album, again, I was in my early twenties. I was a kid. Now I call myself a bleeding heart libertarian. Because I do believe in the principles of Libertarianism as an ideal – because I'm an idealist. Paul Theroux's definition of a cynic is a disappointed idealist. So as you go through past your twenties, your idealism is going to be disappointed many many times. And so, I've brought my view and also – I've just realized this – Libertarianism as I understood it was very good and pure and we're all going to be successful and generous to the less fortunate and it was, to me, not dark or cynical. But then I soon saw, of course, the way that it gets twisted by the flaws of humanity. And that's when I evolve now into . . . a bleeding heart Libertarian. That'll do.

Here's what you actually said, Ludwig:

Nothing in there about the far left.

Just a usual 'ermaghad the left is anti-Israel' screed.

And way to not read, make a straw man and ignore the issues raised.

Yes I said left - very pointedly not center left - which is what most Jews, most Democrats and about half the country in general is.

LEFT as in nothing center about it.

And that LEFT has a problem with Israel, much as the RIGHT has a problem with climate, the age of the universe and women's rights.

I also said "Just like righties, they will glance past these facts and move to other talking points."

Which is of course exactly what you are doing, in much the same way climate deniers try to shift from facts.

Purely anecdotal on my end, but most of the Jewish people I know lean left or center left, and are very sensitive to criticism of Israel.

When I did my journalism studies my professor repeatedly rammed into our heads that it was, in general, poor policy to use unnamed sources. These are commonly cited using such terms as:

"A person familiar with the matter"
"A _____ official speaking on condition of anonymity"
"A source with personal knowledge"

And so on and so forth. His reasoning was that there is no way to verify these "sources" so they shouldn't be used. He felt if someone was truly wanting to make a public statement about something, they should be willing to put their name on it.

He did however, understand anonymity conditions in certain circumstances where there is a high security level present (for example top ranking government officials).

re: #24 Amory Blaine

George Bush's lies to invade Iraq has poisoned this country.

Do you remember who said this on April 29th 1991 in defense of George H.W. Bush's decision not to invade Iraq?

I think that the proposition of going to Baghdad is also fallacious. I think if we were going to remove Saddam Hussein we would have had to go all the way to Baghdad, we would have to commit a lot of force because I do not believe he would wait in the Presidential Palace for us to arrive. I think we'd have had to hunt him down. And once we'd done that and we'd gotten rid of Saddam Hussein and his government, then we'd have had to put another government in its place.

What kind of government? Should it be a Sunni government or Shi'i government or a Kurdish government or Ba'athist regime? Or maybe we want to bring in some of the Islamic fundamentalists? How long would we have had to stay in Baghdad to keep that government in place? What would happen to the government once U.S. forces withdrew? How many casualties should the United States accept in that effort to try to create clarity and stability in a situation that is inherently unstable?

I think it is vitally important for a President to know when to use military force. I think it is also very important for him to know when not to commit U.S. military force. And it's my view that the President got it right both times, that it would have been a mistake for us to get bogged down in the quagmire inside Iraq.

Dick Cheney.
Amazing how invading Iraq turned into a "cakewalk" and none of those obvious and entirely correct considerations were brought up when he was trying to sell it to Congress only ten years later isn't it?

Former congressman Mark Schauer said he was pepper-sprayed by police today while leading anti-right to work protesters outside the state Capitol.

Schauer said he was part of a crowd of protesters outside the Capitol's north wing as the Michigan House was voting on controversial right-to-work measures. Schauer said police came to move the protesters away from the building. re: #172 Obdicut

It's really sad when you let yourself get like this. What you are is so much less than what you could be if you could just control your temper on occasion.

Really?

My temper is quite even. I am refusing to play your game and stay on my main points.

For example:

re: #199 blueraven

And you have every right and opportunity to do that. Why post this on an unrelated thread? Why not, as CL asked, confront them directlry?

Because I wanted what I wrote to be seen in general. Because I knew that my post's main points would be simply ignored. Because that is a point within a point.

The post really, truly was prompted by numerous comments I saw on the threads. The last one I saw happened to be from Rochi. It could just have easily been the comments made to a post by Electric infidel, or almost anytime Destro weighs in on Israel.

And as yet certain usual suspects dance around the guts of the issue.

Let me reiterate:

Best I can tell is there's a guy trying to push himself backwards into the police line. As the cops start to push him out he gets behind and officer who starts to get pushed out with him.

Valuable WWII Gun at Police Buy-Back

Just like a scene out of "Antiques Roadshow," a woman in Hartford, Conn., turned in an old rifle to her local police station's gun buy-back, only to discover the gun was worth anywhere from $20,000 to $25,000. The woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, inherited the gun from her father who had brought it home with him from Europe as a memento from World War II.

The two officers conducting the gun buy-back, who are resident gun experts for the Hartford Police Department, informed the owner she was in possession of a Nazi Assault Rifle, the first of its kind, that dates back to 1944.

The gun is called a Sturmgewehr 44, literally meaning "storm rifle," and is the first "modern assault rifle ever made, eventually replaced by the AK 47 in 1947 by Russia, who copied the German design of the Sturmgewehr 44," Officer Lewis Crabtree, one of the two officers who discovered the gun, told ABC News.

"It's like finding the Babe Ruth of baseball cards," said Officer John Cavanna. "The rarity, it was made for such a very short period."

Kincaid: Republicans should take after the English Defence League

Cliff Kincaid of Accuracy In Media has some words of advice for the defeated GOP: follow the English Defence League. The EDL is a radical UK-based group strongly linked with violent actions and whose members terrorize Muslims and often espouse Nazism. But for Kincaid, they are a model for the Republican Party, which he fears is gradually becoming more supportive of gay rights and ignoring the increasing “persecution of social conservatives.”

This British Conservative Party has watered down traditional conservatism to such an extent that some conservatives have formed an alternative, the English Defense League (EDL), which has spawned the British Freedom Party.

This group has been strongly attacked in the media, here and abroad, as “far-right” or worse. But I had the opportunity to meet their leaders, Kevin Carroll and Tommy Robinson, at the 9/11 conference in New York City sponsored by Pamela Geller and Robert Spencer which was designed in part to organize resistance to global Islam and safeguard our right of free speech against the advance of Sharia, or Islamic law. You can watch the speeches by Carroll and Robinson and draw your own conclusions. A candidate espousing retrogressive "traditional family values" gets the backing of self-interested wealthy donors, religious groups, and a firebrand radio personality, and eventually gets elected president on a weird pseudo-populist/corporatist platform. I'm opening another can of worms here, but I'll speak for myself on the Temple Mount.

It isn't theirs.

If part of peace means keeping those structures standing on our holiest site, then I am for peace. Haters please re-read that before anything else. I see letting those mosques stand as the price of a peace that has never come about, and despite the horrible cultural blow it signifies, I see peace as more important.

However, in a better world people would not pretend that it is ok to build their stuff on other's holiest sites and deny the history at the same time. I don't give a damn about the architecture or the significance to the people who squat on the Temple mount - because it isn't theirs and their culture is not more important than mine.

CL and DF

I was annoyed at a whole lot of things, but CL, calling what I wrote to be rant without looking at the issues behind them is interesting. It shows a remarkable amount of the worst cultural insensitivity.

You have recently posted about the significance of Hanukkah.

Yet you seem to have missed the entire point of the holiday. Let me lay it out for you.

Israel had been conquered by the Babylonians. The Persians conquered them and allowed my ancestors to rebuild the Temple - which stood until Roman Times.

Alexander conquered Persia and divided his empire.

Antiochous, a descendant of one of Alexanders generals came to power and tried to wipe out Judaism. He profaned the Temple and turned it into an alien pagan temple. The Temple was the center of Jewish culture. It is on Mount Moriah. It is where tradition holds the Akedah happened. It is more central a symbol of Judaism than the liberty bell is of America or Parliament and Big Ben is of Britain. The only thing in the modern world with close to the Temple's cultural significance to anyone else is actually Mecca.

My ancestors fought back and won. The miracle of the menorah happened when the temple was cleansed and rededicated.

So CL,

It isn't yours. It still isn't yours. It never will be, You and no Muslim and no gentile has any right to it. However, as the price of peace, it is worth allowing the mosques to remain.

None the less, Hanukkah, which you have written glowingly about, was all about taking the Temple back.

I've done quite a lot of reading about Judaism & Jewish history over the past few years and I'm well aware of the Temples' significance, and I'm well aware of what's implied when some people talk about building the Third Tdmple. If I thought I could have a rational conversation with you about it I would, but I know that's not possible,so I'm going to walk away now.

Because actually addressing what I have said is not something you can do... You see culturally sensitive would be to perhaps acknowledge that it is a giant concession to peace that the mosques stand rather than to assume they are yours by right. If we were like the Arabs in the region, we would have blown them up just like the Arabs destroyed synagogues. Culturally sensitive would be to think that maybe just maybe the Temple is a big deal to someone else's culture.

But none of that would fit your narrative.

As I said in the very first post:

Such details are not relevant.

The left is nothing if not a hypocrite on Israel and just as blind to the truths of the situation as the right is on issues of climate, women's rights and the age of the universe.

They are just as blind.

They are just as unwilling to listen to reason.

Just like righties, they will glance past these facts and move to other talking points.

You know like calling me names and refusing to address these basic and obvious facts.

It still is not yours, and thank you for making the main point yet again so clearly.

329 Mad Prophet Ludwig  Tue, Dec 11, 2012 3:14:36pm

re: #318 Vicious Babushka

And yet I wrote that they should stay standing if it brings peace. VB... you are killing me. Would the Rebbe deny what Hannukah was about or the significance of the Akeda? Do you think he would ignore his own essays on the miracles of the Temple and their cabalistic significance? You know that of course he would not.

I do not know if you are writing from cowardice or a refusal to read what was written by me, but how about you knock it off.

re: #320 ProGunLiberal

Really... You clearly don't know what Kahanist means.

Now, again the main point. Refusal to acknowledge the facts.

You have yet to acknowledge or refute the Palestinians do seem to have a deeply rooted (and democratically voted for) terrorist issue that makes making peace impossible, or that on the recent discussion that maybe the center of Jewish culture might be important to Jews and that it is perhaps a big concession to leave the mosques up.

Why is this?

Because such facts do not fit your narrative and you are just as blind on the issue of Israel as winguts are on climate, the age of the universe and women's rights.

330 CuriousLurker  Tue, Dec 11, 2012 3:17:13pm

re: #328 Mad Prophet Ludwig

If it makes you feel better to think I won't have a discussion with you out of fear that I'm not up to the task, then by all means go ahead and believe that.

If you can point out where I've mad the claim that the mosques are "mine" by right, please do. (Hint, you won't be able to.) As a matter of fact, I can prove your dishonesty with your own words:

For instance: the statement that the Temple is Jewish.

That is a statement of fact as true as 2+2=4. Unfortunately, only Alouette could say that with me - until CL, the one you were all defending supposedly, and to her great credit, said it in her open letter. I have no beef with CL.

Suddenly the Temple was Jewish again.

What a short memory you have. Or perhaps it's just selective.

My narrative? What, pray tell, is my narrative? Describe it to me, with supporting links, please. Or are you making assumptions about my narrative? If so, based on what?

331 Mad Prophet Ludwig  Tue, Dec 11, 2012 3:23:02pm

re: #330 CuriousLurker

No my memory is not selective at all.

I remember your very shifting narratives on this issue.

I mean really, why bother, if you agree that the Temple is Jewish and it is a huge concession to peace to leave the mosques standing, to break your silence to write snark in reference to that post right here and in this very thread?

Seriously...

Do you agree with that idea or was it worth snarking over?

Is it just my truth, or is it actually true?

Which is it? I am at the point now where playing games has gotten annoying.

332 CuriousLurker  Tue, Dec 11, 2012 3:38:25pm

I answered that question long ago--why are you pretending that I haven't? Do you really think you can walk in here and just erase my history because it annoys you? (Those are rhetorical questions, BTW.)

If you're annoyed with games, then I suggest you stop playing them.

You're pivoting like a whirling dervish and moving the goalposts because you know damned well that my "narrative" is well documented and consistent, so you're not going to be able to provide proof of what you've implied.

Don't try to bully me, it won't work.

Your intellectual dishonesty is repulsive to me. It was my mistake to start acknowledging you again, so I'm going to go back to ignoring you and will keep it that way from now on.

Go ahead and knock yourself out saying whatever you feel need to say. I'm done.

333 Mad Prophet Ludwig  Tue, Dec 11, 2012 3:51:08pm

re: #332 CuriousLurker

My intellectual dishonesty? Bullying?

Project much?

Remarkable.

So if you know the Temple is Jewish, why did you bother to snark at a post that said so in addition to the fact that I support letting the mosques stand as a concession to peace?

What was so onerous about that statement if you actually agree with it?

Such details are not relevant.

The left is nothing if not a hypocrite on Israel and just as blind to the truths of the situation as the right is on issues of climate, women's rights and the age of the universe.

re: #288 engineer cat

Late to the party as usual, but I agree with engineer cat. You're not going to win any arguments speaking of these mythic entities "The Left" and "The Right." Some of us are on the left (like me) but are fully aware that neither the Palestinians nor the Israelis have the high moral ground. If you're going to play the Magical Balance Fairy, you have to ready to admit that the leaders of the two sides seem to be doing everything in their power to prevent a peaceful settlement.

I am reasonably sure that the "regular folks" would just as soon all this fighting, bombing, shelling, and hating bullshit would just stop, so they can get on with their lives. Unfortunately, they picked the wrong leaders to make it happen.

Also, saying "this spot belongs to us, coz we got here first!" does not help matters either. The world and history doesn't work like that. If it did, all us white folks would have had to pack up and go home about 350 years ago.

Proof? Here you go.

Since you've inserted yourself into this by updinging LVQ and downdinging me, I can only assume that it's because you agree with his unsupported attempts to imply that I'm anti-Israel or anti-Semitic.

Of course, neither of you ever come out and actually say it, it's always innuendo about my supposedly "shifting narrative" or claims that I'm disingenuous.

Let's talk about being disingenuous, shall we?

You took the cowardly route and posted that ridiculous Traitors to Free Speech entry on your blog rather than facing your opponents here, didn't you? Oh wait, what's that? Charles can't prove it's your blog? Maybe not, but it's a bit odd that one of the tags for it is "Aminah", isn't it? I suppose it's just coincidence that it happens to be about one of your LGF Pages and that the owner of the blog, Cushman Freckle, also happens to be a contributor to Pro-Israel Bay Bloggers.

Speaking of Pro-Israel Bay Bloggers & coincidence, I came across a rather interesting post there as well. It was about Rachel Corrie. As a matter of fact, it was called A Tribute to Rachel Corrie. There was this rather revealing comment on it:

Anonymous said...
I posted Shattan's article at Little Green Footballs and the Young Turks there shat in their pants with rage. It was amusing.
September 13, 2012 12:48 AM

What a coincidence—that's the exact same article you yourself posted here at LGF! Seems someone takes a certain smug pleasure in shit-stirring here.

I commented on the Corrie Page (beginning at #8) in response to SFZ, which you clearly didn't like. In fact, even though you'd validated my points in your #9, you nonetheless chose to accuse me of insincerity in your #11. I laughed it off by making a sarcastic comment about "taqiyyah" (#14), however when challenged by Obdicut to prove your assertion by making an argument in support of your case (#34), you declined (#39) just as LVQ does.

If you or anyone else has proof of my supposed lack of sincerity, then bring it—either put it on the table right here & now in the bright light for everyone to see, or stop with the cheap innuendo and cowardly, unsupported accusations.

Oh, and about that offer you made that I mentioned in my #14 of your Corrie Page? Let's put that on the table too while we're at it:

After having emailed me privately a couple of times (in which you asked questions related to Islam, and all of which I gladly took time out of my day to answer in depth), in July of 2011 you suddenly asked me to participate as a guest blogger on a now defunct blog you used to have. With much politeness and citing various personal reasons, I asked you to let me think about it for a while. I ended up declining and you seemed to be okay with that. Yet here at LGF you seem to regard me with hostility & suspicion. Very strange, that.

There's some insincerity going on here alright, but it's not coming from me.
