Krauthammer: Obama Has Ruthlessly Shattered the GOP, Created Internal Civil War

Charles Krauthammer gives President Obama credit for a “stunning accomplishment,” saying that Obama has ruthlessly shattered the Republican Party, breaking their will and causing an internal civil war while vacationing in luxury and playing golf every day: Krauthammer to Hannity: Obama Has Successfully Created ‘An Internal Civil War’ Within the GOP.

Also, Obama’s overplaying his hand, and will go down in history as a failed president with a radical ideology. And he needs to give in to the Republicans now or he’ll be blamed for the fiscal cliff.

Basically, Krauthammer’s throwing everything he has against the wall in this one, hoping something will stick. I’m no Beltway insider like the K-man, but it seems to me the Republican Party has done a pretty damned good job of shattering itself.

Remember that Karl Rove tried to warn birthers that Obama was "leading them into a trap". Basically they wound up punching Obama in the fist with their face.

Guys, the man in question was already under arrest and had been searched. Those cops were shot with a police gun. Even outlawing all private ownership of firearms would not have prevented this one. This is a case of an asshole who knew he was caught and found a way to go out in a hail of gunfire. No change in the law would have prevented it.

He says that police believe the "shoulder-fired" weapons are antiquated, decades-old, launchers from wars past often picked up by collectors or passed down to family members by veterans.

For example, I remembered one left off the list from here in San Diego county not long ago, which happens to show up in the CNN list of mass shootings at schools:

Vietnamese would make her less likely to get convicted, since East Asians aren't seen as "crime prone" by most people, even wingnuts. They are less likely to be seen as a 'problem' and they tend to have more intact families with more people who are seen as 'solid citizens' who will vouch for them. As with many things in life, who you know and how you are seen can decide your fate.

No, what this shows is how futile the idea of arming everyone for self defense is. The advantage is always to the attacker. Here we have an unarmed opponent in the middle of armed defenders who already know the person is "bad". You can't get a more advantageous position for the defenders, and yet the presence of firearms still allows the the attacker to do serious damage which would not have been possible of no one was armed.

The M72 comes with a rocket in it. Maybe the rocket was removed but I can't tell from the picture. I believe the other is a Carl Gustav, which is a recoilless weapon.

Both are obsolete by modern military standards but they would rip any non-military vehicle open like a can of sardines. I believe both would be effective against MICV like the Bradley or the BMP.

We used the following criteria to identify cases of mass murder:

The killings were carried out by a lone shooter. (Except in the case of the Columbine massacre and the Westside Middle School killings, both of which involved two shooters.)

The shootings happened during a single incident and in a public place. (Public, except in the case of a party in Crandon, Wisconsin, and another in Seattle.) Crimes primarily related to armed robbery or gang activity are not included.

The shooter took the lives of at least four people. An FBI crime classification report identifies an individual as a mass murderer (as opposed to a spree killer or a serial killer) if he kills four or more people in a single incident (not including himself), and typically in a single location.

If the shooter died or was hurt from injuries sustained during the incident, he is included in the total victim count. (But we have excluded cases in which there were three fatalities and the shooter also died, per the previous criterion.)
We included six so-called "spree killings"—prominent cases that fit closely with our above criteria for mass murder, but in which the killings occurred in multiple locations over a short period of time.

Krauthammer has it exactly backwards. Obama did not create the civil war within the GOP. In reality, the GOP's internal strife is inevitable, given that two of their main constituencies are almost polar opposites: (1) small-government, "libertarian-leaning" Republicans, and (2) big-government, "let's have a Christian theocracy and lots of wars" Republicans. There are also those who have a problem with women and non-whites, and those aren't the type of people who get along well with others; thus more internal strife.

So OF COURSE there will be internal strife within the GOP; it follows directly from the deep ideological conflicts. Perhaps no single person embodied these conflicts more than Paul Ryan, the "Ayn Rand Catholic".

A group thus prone to conflicts often finds a common enemy to unite against. It's the only thing that holds them together. President Obama is that enemy. Krauthammer has the cause and effect exactly backwards. Obama didn't cause the GOP's internal divisions. The GOP's internal divisions causes the blind hatred of the President.

Helicopter parents are nothing new. They ignore boundaries or simply embarrass their adult children once they've left for college -- or worse -- in the workplace. Few cases are so extreme as Ireland's.

In June 2012, researchers at the College of Business and Economics at West Virginia University conducted a study of 340 students and found that many simply grow accustomed to parents' constant involvement. Nearly seven out of 10 students said it was "somewhat" or "very appropriate" to receive help from their parents in writing a resume or a cover letter. One-fifth of students thought it was fine to have their parents contact a prospective employer.

Obama's tired of negotiating with himself, which is what this situation has dissolved into. Even if Boehner were willing to risk his speakership to negotiate a deal, he can not make any guarantee that he'd be able to produce the votes. And McConnell is not making any bold moves either because he's up for reelection in '14 and doesn't want to be seen as supporting Boehner in this endeavor.

This story is about more than helicoptor parents. something quite weird is going on here.

“It’s just been really embarrassing and upsetting to have my parents come to my university when I’m a grown adult and just basically slander my name and follow me around,” Aubrey Ireland said in an Oct. 9 court hearing.

Despite her good grades and success in musical shows, David and Julie Ireland often drove 600 miles from Leawood, Kan., to visit their daughter unannounced. They accused her of using illegal drugs, promiscuity and suffering from mental woes. She insisted none of that was true and asked them to stop, but their accusations escalated. They informed her department head she had mental issues that could force them to go to court to have her treated.

The parents knew about what they saw as their daughter’s problems because, they admit, they installed monitoring software on her laptop and cellphone, allowing them to see her every keystroke and phone number dialed or received. It was “like I was a dog with a collar on,” said the daughter, a dean’s list student every quarter.

The parents became such an issue that the school hired security guards to keep them out of their daughter’s performances. When the parents stopped paying her tuition because she’d cut off all contact with them, the school gave her a full scholarship for her final year.

The college senior decided to seek a civil stalking order to keep her parents away from her after they went to UC and told her college administrators they could seek to have her taken in for mental evaluations. She filed a Sept. 24 stalking order against her parents.

I go grocery shopping once a week with my friend and neighbor, D. Another friend went to Houston and asked me if I'd like some fresh shrimp brought back. I thought of my friend D., who is a Katrina refugee and has complained about only being able to get frozen shrimp here, and I put in a request for 2 pounds. She brought back 3 pounds, and I gave it all to D. A few days later (day before yesterday) she brought over:

-Gumbo
-Red rice that she says is halfway between Cajun and Jambalaya
-Potatoes with ham and green beans
-Cheesy broccoli and cauliflower
-a wing and a thigh and some stuffing from the Christmas meal she and her boyfriend had
-potato salad
-a plate with more shrimp and ham

I haven't eaten that well in years. And I'd never had gumbo before. And there's still some left for tonight!

Yesterday I gave her one of my butternut squash pies with my possibly best-ever crust. I'm still indebted.

I found myself watching the series The Story Of Us recently. Got thinking-We might have developed intelligence and tool making to offset a lack of natural weapons like lions enjoy.

Makes me wonder if the capacity for brutality comes with the long slow kill. Lots of spears and a huge fight before the big animal goes down. Just pondering... Animals that can kill and eat easily might not need this. Like big predator/small prey animals.

"Tormenting" is not a cat/predator concept. Prolonging a kill, in our eyes, is in theirs a process of weakening prey to make a successful kill. What we see in domesticated cats, that we see as play, is a form of natural behavior manifestation. They don't need to kill for food but the instincts are still there and they will eat the prey if they successfully manage to kill it or offer it as a gift, as a big cat will offer a gift to the leader of a pride.

Use pendrive. A USB drive will not boot without syslinux as a boot loader. If you just copied the iso to the drive you actually don't have a bootable or installable source.
