As 2012 is coming to a close, we're thinking back about the people we lost this year. And today another beg name left this earth. Today there's a debate going on about the morning after pill and the role it plays in Obamacare. This pill is a Dutch invention.
Today Professor Arie Haspels died. He was a gynocologist and also the house gynocologist of the Royal house of Orange. Haspels did the delivery of all of Queen Beatrix three sons. From 1969 to 1987 he was a professor at the Univerity of Utrecht and was a proponent of anti-conception. He developed the morning after pill and was also instrumental in the development of the abortion pill.
In his later years he suffered from Parkinson's desease. He died at the age of 87.

Halfway Houses Prove Lucrative to Those at Top
The Kintock Group, the second-largest operator of halfway houses in New Jersey, is a nonprofit agency that is financed almost entirely by government contracts. But it is run like a well-heeled family business.
Kintock paid its founder, David D. Fawkner, roughly $7 million in salary and benefits over the past decade, according to federal disclosure records. Mr. Fawkner’s daughter, brother-in-law and son-in-law altogether received more than $2.5 million during that period, the records show.
The nonprofit agency hired the brother-in-law as a consultant even though he has no corrections experience and lives in California. And it employed the son-in-law to run a subsidiary unrelated to its mission: duplicating DVDs and other electronic media.
New Jersey has disbursed more than half a billion dollars to nonprofit groups over the past decade to run halfway houses, which handle thousands of state and county inmates annually. But regulators have often failed to scrutinize how that money has been spent, especially by the two nonprofit groups that run most of the facilities in the state, according to an examination by The New York Times. Gawd, this state is soooo embarrassing sometimes, like back in 2009 when they arrested & prep-walked a bunch of our elected officials & rabbis into the federal building in Newark. They actually used a bus to bring the bulk of them because there were so many. And that was like part two of an ongoing federal probe.
Then, just this past September the mayor of Trenton, our capitol, got arrested in an FBI sting along with his brother and a "supporter" who's a convicted sex offender. This has got to be one of the most corrupt states in the nation. GAH! O_o

In the big picture taxes have to be raised. The only question is how long the far right campaigners can control their just barely important slice of Congress on this issue. Many of the institutional Republicans are well skilled in knowing how to walk differently than "the talk", but the 2010 tea partying crowd of true believers are still hanging on to their revolution.

I'm pretty sure the second movie will do extremely well; the Tolkien novels are enormously popular and so far Peter Jackson has made the audience very happy. On Rotten Tomatoes 81% of the audience liked it.

No, he was 9 yards short. Ponder used Peterson for several short yardage passes, including a TD, but those don't count towards a rushing total. It was an effective strategy, though, and the win was the critical thing.
Unfortunately, that win means the Vikings get to go to Green Bay and play the Packers next week at Lambeau Field. So Green Bay will still likely have the last laugh.

The enemy was in close to our personnel and their capabilities were unknown. Had we sent support by air, it would have been vulnerable to their RPG-7s as well as any SAMs they had. Moreover, it would have been very badly received within Libya had we sent support, and that might have handed Al Qaeda the win even if their forces were destroyed.

raising the retirement age sounds reasonable to people who work desk jobs, but it's a horrible thing to do to roofers and coal miners. First because their life expectancy hasn't risen the way office workers' has, but more because 65-year-olds should not be balancing on rooftops or crawling through tunnels.

Thanks to Congress's Incompetence, Milk Prices Are About to Double
Federal law puts a giant safety net under the dairy industry by promising that if the price of milk collapses, the government will swoop in and push it back up by buying mass quantities of dairy products. The goal is to make sure that the farmers are paid somewhere close to what it should cost them to produce the milk, a figure that's determined by a complex formula. Usually, dairies can earn plenty selling their product on the open market, and the government doesn't need to intervene. But the 1949 law getting ready to kick back in bases its formula for the cost of milk production on how the industry worked in the early 20th century, when it was far, far, far less efficient than today. As a result, it will automatically force the government to start paying a giant premium for milk products, which will then cause prices to jump for everyone else as well.
To give you a sense of how farcical this situation is, it's not even clear that the government has enough storage space to stow away all the dry milk, cheese blocks, and butter tubs it will have to purchase for absolutely no reason.

As for opening a ticket, knowing those dorks (Don't use CenturyTel anyone!) it wouldn't do any good. I'll see how it's running in the morning and take it from there. Right now I can get to Google (my email) and the three other places that really matter (LGF and sites for my hobbies) so it's not as bad as it could be.

Mom and Pop Fish have talked about taking their deep fryer up to their rental lakeside cabin on this year's summer trip and frying up some bluegill. Failing that, they may freeze their catch to fry when they return home to fish country.

I'll admit, I'm still a journeyman in the sport of fishing. I caught my first bass only a few years ago. Down here in fish country, the main target is river catfish, so when my dad had the opportunity to come up and go after Minnesota lake fish like bass and northern pike, he was thrilled.

you would think, but the examples that come up when i google 'java unicode to ascii' don't do what i want, so i coded my own 'by hand' method
