#Breitbart.com Incites Another Deluge of Misogynist Hate Speech Against Lena Dunham

These people are not right in the head
Wingnuts • Views: 30,910

The Breitbrats really have it in for actress Lena Dunham; she’s one of their recurring targets, along with Sandra Fluke and Soledad O’Brien. Something about assertive, unashamed liberal women seems to get under their skin, big time.

After Dunham made a mildly racy advertisement endorsing Barack Obama for President, Ben Shapiro penned a nutty blue-nosed rant, saying the ad was “demeaning to women” and showed that Dunham “cared only about sex.”

That Shapiro tirade prompted an outpouring of hideous woman-hating comments from the knuckle-dragging Breitbart audience, of course, so they’re at it again, keeping the right wing base engaged and interested in the issues that matter.

This time, “Breitbart News” doesn’t seem to quite understand that actors are not the same as the characters they play: FOR LENA DUNHAM’S ‘GIRLS’ CHARACTER, DATING REPUBLICANS LIKE DATING NAZIS.

Lena Dunham, creator of the HBO sitcom “Girls,” has stated that the character she plays would view dating a black Republican the same way as dating a Nazi.

OMG! Outrage!

Dunham went on to say that she doesn’t feel this way herself, it’s a character, but the Breitbrats aren’t buying it.

When the interviewer follows up on that phrase, Dunham clarifies that while she is progressive, she does not have the same blanket “ignorance” she is satirizing through her character.

There you go, imply that this elitist liberal actress is insulting them personally! That ought to get the cavemen riled up.

And sure enough:

She’s a skank so who gives a whip. Just seeing the HBO label kinda gives me a WTF feeling so I didn’t read it I just know a good lap dog when I see on and a racist.

[…]

I wonder when this sleazy tramp will be showing genital warts on her face? Just HIV bait like most of her unHolywood contomporaries.

[…]

A conservative man would be repulsed by the flies buzzing around her lady parts, even after her whore bath, so saying the character she plays should not date a Republican is irrelevant. Now, had she said her character COULD NOT date a Republican it would have been accurate because no Republican man would date her, regardless of whether or not she was attracted to someone who opposed killing unborn babies or was opposed to rump ranger and twisted sister unions. Nice try at asserting your liberal ideals though. Now scamper along to your local Planned Parenthood Tattoo Piercing Parlor and have a spa day.

[…]

This from a girl who’s willing to sleep with the whole 7th fleet.

[…]

Dating Lena Dunham is like dating a fish market.

[…]

I have no respect for someone who can afford to buy clothes and makeup and go to bars and yet want the American people to pay for her birth control pills (like paying for her tuition is not enough) and any abortion she may need to have just because she was too drunk to have responsible sex.

[…]

Considering what she looks like, she would be exceedingly lucky to have a black republican interested in dating her. In her silly video about her “first time”, I personally thought she looked gay. The person interested in this chick would likely have very short hair, lady parts, and a tattoo that says Skank on her inner thigh. Who is she kidding?

[…]

This ugly hag gets lucky now she starts talking shiit…hope she saves her money

[…]

No self respecting Nazi would waste the time…

[…]

This is what happens when you put an ugly pear shaped chick in front of a camera. She’s not a six packer—she’s a 12-packer—and I am talking 12 high alcohol imports

[…]

This homely looking person is a hater, she should be tard and feathered and thrown in to the cesspool Chicago with the rest of the haters.

[…]

I wouldn’t f*ck Lena Dunham with her own d*ck.

[…]

This little piggy can’t even fasten the top hook of her dress…

[…]

She doesn’t date anyone. She strips for money and calls it art. She’s a glorified prostitute.

[…]

You don’t have to worry about dating any of us, Dunham. Bestiality ain’t our bag.

[…]

Nazi’s didn’t allow whore houses did they?

[…]

No, but they encouraged breeding by couples of good Aryan stock. Dunham would have been off the hook, because her stock is through the floor.

And on and on and on — there are hundreds more disgusting comments like this. This is the right wing base in 2013.

Of course, these are the people who in real life conversations compare Obama to Hitler. Lena says her character would do something and they go ballistic. This is also funny because for years we’ve heard the right whine and whine about political correctness and now they’re upset because of what a woman said her fictional character would do? Read fictional.

RWNJs didn’t just love the character of Jack Bauer, they wanted to be Jack Bauer.

And they still do.

Lena Dunham deserved it, what with her being all female and stuff in our faces.

Really? So Shapiro Breitbart News is angry about a little known actress describing a character with dating a “black Republican the same way as dating a Nazi?” This after they, yes they, have been calling the president Hitler for the past 4 years including the recent nonsense from Drudge?

Short answer, yes. Longer answer, yes. It’s silly. And as I said, I find it hilarious that the right who bitch about political correctness for years can’t handle a woman talking about her fictional character’s intolerance.

Let the Republican Party wither further into their final form of a regional BNP equivalent, then let the Democrats split into two parties, both of which use rational thought to try to solve problems and improve the country while the GOP shrieks and throws shit from their enclosure on the sidelines.

As long as the hard core teal party consist of about 25% (my estimate), I think it’s too big to wait for a generation to solve problems that need to be addressed in the next election cycle. or two.

I wish there was a sneaky computer virus spread by porn sites that would secretly swap one of the letters of the alphabet for an identical looking unicode character whenever the infected party posted comments at breibrat.com or freep. And just for lulz, the character would change depending on how many times the user was infected.

Then you could look through the comments and find out how many people Outraged11ty by this slutty slut slut were actually big fans of a certain kind of sluttiness.

I can’t even really disagree with the character’s sentiment. Met a guy here in the park a month or so ago who, within minutes of meeting, started ranting about the n*CLANG in the White House and we were soon going to be overrun with [list of brown people]. Then he asked me out to dinner.

I don’t see much difference between him and a Nazi.

I’m also willing to bet that many of these people were in church this morning singing God’s praises (perhaps even on stage in the choir). Heck it’s possible that one or more of these people was giving the MESSAGE this morning.

I’m also willing to be that Jesus himself would be utterly disgusted by this behavior.

I can’t fathom how a person could call themselves Christian and spout garbage like that.

frank luntz is distressed

republican politicians have been speaking from their hearts again. this will never do

the gop spinmeister extraordinaire gives us a preview of how shit will be shined in the current election cycle:

Just saying “no” to the president has its limits…the first sentence out of their mouths should express respect for the American people, not disdain for the president they just reelected… The next step is to be more empathetic…

reframe the questions being asked… Obama has been asking America, “Should the rich pay more?” Thanks to public disdain for lobbyists and tax loopholes available only to the wealthy, election exit polls put support for this notion at 60 percent. But change the question to “Should Washington take more?,” and the answer is a resounding no.

That’s the question Republicans need to ask, along with: Is Washington spending your hard-earned money efficiently and effectively? Are we in this mess because Washington takes too little of your money or because it wastes too much?… A more powerful metaphor would be “piling debt on our children” or “mortgaging the American dream.”…

Instead of being the party of small businesses and job creators, House Republicans should become the party of hardworking taxpayers. After all, a small percentage of Americans think of themselves as job creators, but every American considers him or herself a hardworking taxpayer. It’s an even more powerful identity than the “middle class” the Democrats speak of so often. If the choice is between the party that fights for hardworking taxpayers and the party that fights for the middle class, Republicans win.

Conservatism thrives only when it’s infused with optimism — when it’s about what people can do when they’re in control. That was the secret of Ronald Reagan’s success. Republicans need to be more than just the party of people “who built it” — they should be the party of people who want to build it even better. Speak to voters’ aspirations, not just their pocketbooks, and emphasize how GOP solutions help the want-to-haves, not just the already-haves. That’s personal responsibility in action.

For example, when Republicans speak disdainfully about becoming a “food stamp nation,” it reinforces voters’ suspicions that they are callous. Instead, they should offer a positive message about how hard work, personal responsibility and earned success are better than government dependency. And instead of talking about “upward mobility,” Republicans should summarize the American dream concisely: “If you work hard and play by the rules, you should be able to get ahead.” Obama stole that line from them. It’s time to steal it back.

Instead of smaller government, they should talk about more efficient and effective government

Instead of tax reform, talk about making the IRS code simpler, flatter and fairer

In addition to cutting spending, they must talk about controlling — not capping — it

Instead of entitlement reform or controlling the growth of Medicare and Social Security, talk about how to save and strengthen these programs

Better than discussing economic opportunity and growth, Republicans should talk about creating a healthier and more secure economy

Pennant (church)

The United States Navy maintains several church pennants, of which the appropriate one is flown immediately above the ensign wherever the ensign is displayed, at the gaff when under way, or at the flagstaff when not under way, when religious services are held aboard ship by a Navy chaplain.

It’s a signal flag which has been flown above the national flag (like all other signal flags) since about the 17th century.

Until 1975 all religions used the one church pennant when conducting services. SECNAVY authorized a separate (variant) pennant for jewish services in that year. In the late 1990s there was a movement to allow a third variant, one for Islamic services, which was to have final review in the mid-2000s. For obvious reasons that was tabled.

Two Naval church pennants. One for a religion that currently makes up 76.0% of the American population and another that makes up 1.2% of the population. OK, this is an obvious misunderstanding.

It is a pennant. The navy uses pennants as signals. They’re codes from a time predating radio, telling other ships status, intentions, and in some cases commands. In this case it’s a code for “the chaplain on board this ship is conducting services”. Chaplains are supposed to give non-denominational services, and not every ship in a group (flotilla, squadron, etc) may have a chaplain. This signal notifies of the opportunity - assuming conditions allow - for crewpersons from other ships to attend the service.

The only legacy of a time when the church had more say in the state - from before it was US - is the fact it’s flown above the national standard during the actual service. Should it be change? Yeah, probably. Will it? Probably not - it’s relatively low on almost all the priorities around.

To be clearer about this: Whether or not we forbid or allow something shouldn’t have to do with the magnitude of the problem, but the clarity of constitutional certainty. There’s varied interpretations of the constitution, but beyond the really extremist there’s none that hold that the state can promote one religion over another. Whatever the purpose of the ensigns is, they are establishing those religions as respected and advertised in some manner that others are not. It is a clear constitutional violation and violates no ones freedoms to remove it, either; it is not a case of competing first amendment stuff.

It’s important to draw the line firmly where we can, where things are obvious, because it’s by the body of law as observed that we actually create the boundary between church and state. It’s not the letter of the law. And allowing stuff like this has a pervasive effect both socially and legally.

In this regard, the views of Americans closely parallel those of French Muslims, 46% of whom think of themselves first in terms of their religion rather than their nationality. By contrast, only a third of German Christians (33%), and fewer than a quarter of British, French and Spanish Christians self-identify primarily with their religion. Read More

There seem to be groups of people who are pushing for a theocracy. Here and in other parts of the world. The author of one of the last books I read touched on that. He said that when the rule of law, or some aspects of it are perceived to be lacking, people look for political order.

Thus, the push for what seems to have worked in the past, i.e. Sharia. And now we see it from the Christian Right here in this country.

I’m not quite sure what part of the political order seems to have broken down for these individuals —I suspect having a black man in the Oval Office is at the heart of it.

re: #152 Killgore Trout

This is exactly the sort of blinkered attitude I’m talking about.

We have a problem with Christian extremism in this country because they get coddled by idiots who can’t see the danger. We have all sorts of problems stemming from Christian extremism in this country, from religion being forced into schools, abortion laws, anti-muslim laws, denial of science in general. It stems from Radical Christianity that asserts that religion should be a secular power, that government should be run along religious lines.

Hoisting a flag that denotes a specific religious service— and in this case, the only available flags being ‘Christian’ and the fig leaf of ‘Jewish’, and specifically not the Muslim flag, or any other religion’s flag— is one of the things that blurs the church-state division in peoples’ minds, and that is really fucking us over as a country. Religious people understand that symbols matter. You apparently don’t.

Don’t worry your pretty little head about separation of church and state. It’s no problem, especially in the military.

For many years, the “purpose” statement of the Officers’ Christian Fellowship (OCF), an organization of over 15,000 fundamentalist Christian officers operating throughout the military, was:“A spiritually transformed military, with ambassadors for Christ in uniform, empowered by the Holy Spirit.”

I have concerns about proselytization as often it is done at the expense of mental health care. Thus preserving the stigma.

In ludicrous, only-in-the-military fashion, navigating from ‘none’ I was able to get to “inspiriational quotes 4 U” and get to this page:

Which includes this quote:

Which I’m not sure how it’s supposed to inspire anyone in the military, except that I guess when Sherman said it it did weirdly but I think you kind of have to be Sherman himself saying it to have the desired effect. Nicely subversive, maybe.

Comprehensive Soldier Fitness

The Comprehensive Soldier Fitness (CSF) is a program of the United States Army that was launched in October 2009.[1] With the long wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, many soldiers experienced financial, marital and other personal problems, presumably due to serial deployments and spending significant periods of time away from their families. The Army approached the University of Pennsylvania Resiliency Project team[2] with developing a program for the Army to teach resiliency to Soldiers. After the expenditure of approximately $117 million, a program was developed. They developed the Master Resilience Training program (MRT)[3] as a part of the Comprehensive Soldier Fitness program. Brigadier General Rhonda Cornum is the director of the CSF program.

Army’s ‘Spiritual Fitness’ Test Angers Some Soldiers

Multiple tours in Iraq and Afghanistan have taken a toll on soldiers: Witness the rise in suicides and other stress-related disorders. A few years ago, the Army noticed that some soldiers fared better than others, and it wondered: Why?

One reason, says Brig. Gen. Rhonda Cornum, is that people who are inclined toward spirituality seem to be more resilient.

“Researchers have found that spiritual people have decreased odds of attempting suicide, and that spiritual fitness has a positive impact on quality of life, on coping and on mental health,” says Cornum, who is director of Comprehensive Soldier Fitness.

MRFF’s Motto Validated by U.S. Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Norton Schwartz – Air Force Magazine Daily Report

Having Faith in the Academy: The Air Force needs to put “constant attention” on its efforts to promote diversity of beliefs at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo., Chief of Staff Gen. Norton Schwartz told reporters Tuesday. Responding to questions about the school’s challenges regarding religious tolerance of non-Christians, Schwartz, who is USAF’s first Jewish Chief of Staff, said the Air Force must have access “to the largest possible pool of talent” and can’t afford to discriminate against anyone. Officials must routinely check the academy’s curriculum to ensure that it promotes “diversity and respect” for all beliefs, he said. “This is not about me,” said Schwartz, himself an academy grad. “It’s about our Air Force,” he continued, adding, “We need to be inclusive.” The only faith the academy should be preaching, he said, is “public service.”

The separation under 1A is very important, BUT the military chaplaincy is one of those special cases that prove the rule. The majority of our soldiers are believers. It would be ridiculous to deny them the structure of religious support while asking them to go uphill against a machinegun.

The government puts religious symbols on their Government Issue tombstones, too. That includes atheists, if they want.

Faith may be so for some, but religion demands public expression, be it in the Vatican courtyard, a mega church somewhere, or a little one, or Muslims who need to show each other that they pray, whether in a mosque or not, and so on.

I don’t know if religion demands public expression. Certainly many religious leaders expect public expression. Jesus told people to go prayer quietly in their rooms, and not make a public spectacle of themselves, but many seem to forget that advisory. For most people, religious worship is a group activity — a community thing — so it ends up being public. Some go to keep up appearances. Others to meet friends. And others go to actually worship.
