Obama needs to go on primetime TV - tell the American people he is constitutionally obligated to pay America’s debt that Congress has already spent and that he will order Treasury to issue bonds to pay the debt in question and dare the GOP to impeach him for carrying out his constitutional obligations.
Also, call the GOP strategy insane and moonabatty - really insult them and bait them, so they can do nothing else but go crazier and try and destroy this country while Obama using the powers of the presidency saves it. My guess is 2 years from now the GOP will lose the House after this.

Portland residents panic as men armed with assault weapons ‘educate’ the city
Two men walked the streets of Portland armed with assault weapons earlier this week because they said they wanted to “educate” residents, who reacted by fleeing and calling police.
Warren Drouin and Steven Boyce told KPTV that they were forced to take drastic measure to make sure people were aware of their Second Amendment rights after 20 children in Connecticut were massacred with same type of AR-15 rifles they were carrying.
“We’re not threatening anyone,” Drouin explained. “We don’t have that type of criminal behavior.”
“This happens to open that line of communication, to let people know that you can defend yourself in a time of crisis or any time that you want to,” Boyce added.
But KPTV’s Kaitlyn Bolduc reported that the demonstration created a “state of panic” in Portland’s Sellwood neighborhood.
“Employees inside of E Hair Studio hid in the back of the salon and locked there doors, while other ran for help for fear the two were really there to cause harm,” Bolduc said.
Police spoke to Drouin and Boyce and said the conceal-carry permit holders had not broken any laws.
Because the real way to save lives is to teach civilians not to take cover when people show up with assault weapons.

And by spending this year I mean not spending thirty years, which hasn’t been spent yet. What money has been spent this year, since the last time the debt ceiling was raised that is a problem.
Money that hasn’t been spent this year, that will be spent in future decades, is not a rationale, or at least not a meaningful one, for not raising the debt ceiling for today’s spending. Debates about spending that hasn’t occured yet can be debated outside of the hostage-taking process.

Congress came up with the grand method of getting budget cuts and reducing the deficit going forward.
That was in the Budget Control Act of 2011, which Congress negotiated with the Administration and authorized an increase in the debt ceiling in exchange for $2.4 trillion in deficit reduction over the following ten years. This total included $1.2 trillion in spending cuts identified specifically in the legislation, with an additional $1.2 trillion in cuts that were to be determined by the Super Committee.
Congress looked for a way out of having to make the tough decisions - you know telling John Q Public back home that their services/roads/etc. are now worse because all funding was cut 10% across the board, or that jobs might be lost because some federal programs are now 10% lower (other than the GOP reflex to blame Obama). These are programs that they actually benefit from. So they had a panel make recommendations, and Congress had to vote up/down on them or else incur the 10% atb cut. Well, the panel failed to find common ground and the atb cuts will happen unless Congress finds some way to make the deficit reduction happen.
We’ve seen some of this nonsense already with the Sandy aid package. You have GOPers claiming fiscal responsibility in voting against the NFIP funding, even though they’ve sought that same assistance for their own districts or would hope to have the program funded should a flooding incident occur in their district (as they direct people in their districts to visit the NFIP program to seek flood insurance). They want offsetting cuts from elsewhere - never mentioning that elsewhere also can affect their districts.

“Liberty-Driven” Fortress Community Being Planned In Idaho
A group of self-appointed “patriots” are moving forward with an idea for a planned community of several thousand families of “patriotic Americans” in Idaho, a project named The Citadel, envisioned as a “martial endeavor designed to protect Residents in times of peril (natural or man-made).”
“The Citadel is not profit-driven. The Citadel is Liberty-driven: specifically Thomas Jefferson’s Rightful Liberty,” the group organizing the project says on its website. “Marxists, Socialists, Liberals and Establishment Republicans will likely find that life in our community is incompatible with their existing ideology and preferred lifestyles.”
The idea for The Citadel was born in the “Patriot Blogosphere” in early 2012, according to the project’s website. The Idaho Stateman reported on the project last month, but it gained widespread attention in the past week. Organizers hope to purchase land in 2013 for The Citadel, and break ground soon after.

Speaking of, I just watched Dredd last night.
Not the greatest film I’ve ever seen, but a damn sight better than the abomination that was Judge Dredd.
I watched that the other day. Lots of shooting. The lead actor never shows his face in that movie.

I really don’t think he’s ever going to have that moment like Michael Douglas in “The American President” whereas he just lays it out to the people. He’s a little better during this presser, but everything is still done in a..’proper’ manner, so to speak. It would be nice, if at least once during his Presidency, he went President Dwayne Elizondo Mountain Dew Herbert Camacho (Idiocracy) and just verbally abused the GOP.
Bump up for the “Idiocracy” reference.

ARMS Factory?
So they’re going to have rules and regulations about what kind of weapons they produce and equip themselves with?
WHAT KIND OF FASCIST CRAP ARE THEY TRYING TO PULL?
My bet is that it’s an end around attempt on Federal control by claiming the weapons are intrastate commerce by being produced and only used *in* state and thus not being subject to Federal restrictions.
I think some legislator in Wyoming is trying the same. Must be in the RWNJ playbook somewhere then.

Because the real way to save lives is to teach civilians not to take cover when people show up with assault weapons.
Would have been different had they walked through Felony Flats or parts of North Portland…not to mention south along 82nd ave. Frellin chicenshit posers…

Slap some tariffs and import restrictions on them. “Produce any kind of weapon you have the resources to produce.”
Then bust them for smuggling.

He’s not supposed to show his face. Dredd is always drawn wearing his helmet. Points for accuracy in that respect.
If you’re curious, the lead actor in the film was Karl Urban.

They actually modified a storyline from one of the early 70s era Dredd storys for the movie. In the original, it was Judge Giant who was under assessment as a probationary Judge. Anderson was already a serving Psy-Judge when she was introduced in the comic.

Yeah, but I think they realized they’d need a female counterpart to Dredd otherwise it would have been a total sausage fest. Plus, her being sympathetic to people was another counter. If everyone wearing a Judge uniform was like Dredd, it would have been boring and mechanical.

1) Those who know what is right and true in their hearts do not need laws and regulations to tell them what to do
2) Only those who know what is right and true will be allowed to live in the The Citadel
therefore,
3) They will need no laws, only the occasional bouncer to evict those who fall from the path of righteousness and truth.
See how simple it can be if we reject statist socialism?

I agree, I think they did a good job of bringing it together for the movie and keeping with the original storyline.
And it makes sense if they’re planning a sequel using Judge Death. Judge Anderson was the one who actually brought him down, not Dredd.

I think Allen West will be the token black guy there, probably in charge of interrogation since it’s befitting his past ‘accomplishments.’

And they definitely need to have Walter.

And your asinine example of the day award goes to …
Rep. Lou Barletta (R-PA) explained his opposition to any new gun safety measures:
BARLETTA: I support the 2nd Amendment rights. Sam, to make the argument that the gun is the problem would then lead you to believe that if we banned matches and lighters, that we would stop arson. That’s not the problem. The problem is much deeper. It’s a problem with society.
The problem is with society. We have an entire segment of it who believe unless they have a drumfed semiautomatic rifle within arms reach, Hitler is going to kick in their door and make their kids attend *GASP* a public school.
That is a real problem.
