I don’t get the relevance of whether there was or not a protest before the assault? Why does that matter in the GOP mind? Is it because there was no protest and something about protests was said by an embassy staffer and the GOP wants to use that as an AHA! gotcha?

At this point I am doubting the mental ability of Republicans - they are talking heads who pose questions thought up by special interest lobbies designed for sound bites.

These lines of questioning are all about posturing to make Clinton and the President look bad and to sooth the butthurt of having a recently reelected democratic President, one with a fairly robust, pragmatic, and well supported foreign policy that is preferred over GOP visions. Obama is better and stronger at foreign policy than they are; the public knows it and so does the GOP and it drives them crazy. The overblown rhetoric around this just makes the GOP look weaker, once again feeding the base and losing the public at large.

Georgia residents wake up to find KKK recruitment fliers in driveway, report says

(CBS/AP) COVINGTON, Ga. - People in a Georgia neighborhood woke up Monday morning to find flyers outside their homes inviting them to join the Ku Klux Klan, CBS Atlanta reports.

Police collected more that 30 of the fliers that were folded and packed into plastic sandwich bags and tossed at the end of driveways in Covington, about 35 miles southeast of Atlanta, the station reports.

CBS Atlanta reports that sheriff’s officials are investigating whether any laws were broken as part of the distribution of the fliers, which feature a drawing of a robed Klansman standing in front of a tree, and the words “Join the KKK - Loyal White Knights.”

Authorities are asking for anyone who received a flier to call the police.

I moved to Albany, Ga for 3 years when I was around 11 yo back in the mid 70s. I never heard the ‘N’ word until I moved there. When we moved to Pa my parents couldn’t drive fast enough to get out of that area.

But clearly Mack does believe that it’s worth trying to force his personal morals on gay and lesbian Americans through legislation because he repeatedly voted against LGBT rights during his eight years in the House of Representatives.

He has voted for a constitutional amendment banning same sex marriage, supported an amendment that attempted to reaffirm the Defense of Marriage Act, opposed domestic partnership benefits in the District of Columbia, opposed hate crimes protections for LGBT people, voted against a measure banning employment discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and worked against the repeal of the military’s Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell ban on LGBT service members.

Given the choice between living next to a LGBT couple or a gun nut, I’d take the LGBT couple every damn time.

BTW, HR 325, which extends the debt ceiling until May, also attempts to hold Congressional salaries in escrow until a budget is enacted. It’s an attempt to circumvent the 27th Amendment, which prohibits withholding of salaries to compel action.

No law, varying the compensation for the services of the Senators and Representatives, shall take effect, until an election of Representatives shall have intervened.

It’s arguable that Section 2 of the House item is unconstitutional, even if it’s treating the salary in escrow. The functional result of holding the salaries in escrow is to vary the compensation.

Listening to Rand Paul tells you one thing quite clearly. The entire purpose for this appearance was for the GOP to create sound bites to be used against Clinton in the event she runs for the Presidency in 2016. To refer to the death of 4 Americans in a war zone as the worst tragedy since 9/11 is indefensible. But it was a carefully crafted sentence. He was putting words in Hillary Clinton’s mouth. “I am glad you accept culpability for the worst tragedy since 9/11” is crafted specifically for the ability to repeat it later in commercials and stump speeches. Its a fucking disgrace.
