Video: Hillary Clinton Erupts at Ron Johnson Over Benghazi Fake Scandal

The Republican Party can’t stop doing the Benghazi boogaloo
Politics • Views: 22,533

Here we see Hillary Clinton reaching the limit of her patience with the idiotic right wing talking points parroted by Republican Sen. Ron Johnson. It’s been fascinating to watch one Republican after another mindlessly repeating the Fox News line, revealing the base deception that lies at the heart of their Benghazi boogaloo.

Here’s the full text of Hillary Clinton’s testimony: Text of Hillary Clinton’s Senate Testimony on Benghazi.

At 2pm Eastern, Clinton will be back in the chamber, and it’s going to get even more ridiculous — because this time it will be the even more deranged House Republicans asking the questions.

UPDATE at 1/23/13 9:53:29 am

And it got even dumber than Ron Johnson; in his loony rant, libertarian Rand Paul actually said Benghazi was “the worst tragedy since 9/11.”

And also from the Fox News playbook, Senator Rand Paul called this the worst American tragedy since 9/11; another Senator reminded Paul of how many Americans died in the Iraq war.

Funny, Rand, I thought twenty-odd kids were fucking shot to death not two months ago.

Apparently that doesn’t even rank.

It’s brutally stupid. Call it a tragedy, a terrorist attack, whatever else you want, but anybody MBFing Benghazi with 9/11 should be thrown off the highest rooftop. It obviously has no basis in reality and is solely done to try and blame the Obama Administration for Benghazi.

I’m so sick of this Magical Balance Fairy bullshit. Some of the commentariat here are prime examples of it. People need to get their fucking heads examined.

4 Destro  Wed, Jan 23, 2013 9:55:38am

Yes, Benghazi was a SNAFU but the GOP asshats have no idea what the heck they are talking about. Literally, they are making shit up.

I don’t get the relevance of whether there was or not a protest before the assault? Why does that matter in the GOP mind? Is it because there was no protest and something about protests was said by an embassy staffer and the GOP wants to use that as an AHA! gotcha?

At this point I am doubting the mental ability of Republicans - they are talking heads who pose questions thought up by special interest lobbies designed for sound bites.

I honestly think these Republicans are like the type Jay Leno interviews on the street and asks questions about history or current events to their befuddlement.

It looks like SoS Clinton is using all the effort she can muster to keep from laughing in Dnar Luap’s face. It’s a pity that Congressional rules of decorum kept her from telling him to shut his face. You know she wanted to.

Trying to make hay over if there was a protest before the attack is like asking a general during the Korean War if the Chinese attacked after they sounded their bugles or not or if during Iwo Jima the Japanese yelled Banzai before they charged.

Who gives a fuck if there was a protest or not? Why is that a big deal, GOP nut jobs? Please explain?

Your friendly neighborhood little old lady Republican state representative almost certainly voted in favor of her party’s last redistricting proposal.

13 okonkolo  Wed, Jan 23, 2013 10:10:31am

These lines of questioning are all about posturing to make Clinton and the President look bad and to sooth the butthurt of having a recently reelected democratic President, one with a fairly robust, pragmatic, and well supported foreign policy that is preferred over GOP visions. Obama is better and stronger at foreign policy than they are; the public knows it and so does the GOP and it drives them crazy. The overblown rhetoric around this just makes the GOP look weaker, once again feeding the base and losing the public at large.

14 NJDhockeyfan  Wed, Jan 23, 2013 10:10:35am

This is creepy.

Georgia residents wake up to find KKK recruitment fliers in driveway, report says

(CBS/AP) COVINGTON, Ga. - People in a Georgia neighborhood woke up Monday morning to find flyers outside their homes inviting them to join the Ku Klux Klan, CBS Atlanta reports.

Police collected more that 30 of the fliers that were folded and packed into plastic sandwich bags and tossed at the end of driveways in Covington, about 35 miles southeast of Atlanta, the station reports.

CBS Atlanta reports that sheriff’s officials are investigating whether any laws were broken as part of the distribution of the fliers, which feature a drawing of a robed Klansman standing in front of a tree, and the words “Join the KKK - Loyal White Knights.”

Authorities are asking for anyone who received a flier to call the police.

24 Ian G.  Wed, Jan 23, 2013 10:15:14am

Benghazi is one of those things that’s so off the deep end, I don’t even understand what the hysterics are about. Yes, it was bad that Islamic terrorists stormed the US consulate there, but what’s the conspiracy part all about? I seriously want to know what the right is all up in arms about.

It reminds me of the 9/11 truther obsession with WTC 7. I had to have it explained to me because it’s so far off the deep end that a rational thinking person wouldn’t be able to put him or herself in the mindset of someone who thinks WTC 7 is some smoking gun. The same applies here.

I think it’s obvious, but they will never say it out loud because it makes them look like lunatics. Mitt Romney said it, the first night of the Benghazi incident — they’re trying to imply that President Obama deliberately covered up the details of the attack because he sympathizes with Al Qaeda.

Really. That’s what this is all about, underneath all the posturing and idiocy. Pure derangement.

Got to be something with certain parts of the brain where one is functional and the other is not. Because it baffles me as well how somebody that dumb has made it this far in life. Has to be some odd combination of huffing glue, eating lead-based paint chips, and freebasing Drano that rots out the portion of the brain that’s responsible for reasoning and critical thinking.

Ahh Georgia. A little town near me has an almost newly remodeled town square. I say almost because one building belongs to a white supremacist who owns an”herb shop”. It’s not an herb shop, it’s a fucking KKK front. On the front door is a big sign sayin that it’s White History Year and inside there are hundreds of black and white photos of lynchings, burned bodies and civil war memorabilia. Women are not welcome inside the store, which isn’t a known thing unless you’ve been around the area for awhile. No one bats an eyelash, in fact Mr KKK was recently given an award for being such a civil minded community member for his jr. civil war reenactment camp for little boys he has every summer at a nearby National Battlefield Monument.

So yeah, the flyers don’t surprise me in the least. I’m just surprised there weren’t actual lynching photos included in the flyer.

re: #30 Charles Johnson

Like I said, you have to be completely delusional to think that the Bush administration blew up WTC 7 as an add-on to the 9/11 attacks because….well, I guess the destruction of the first two towers and the thousands of deaths wouldn’t have convinced the American public to go to war in Afghanistan and Iraq.

And you have to be completely delusional to think that Obama wanted the embassy attacks to happen because he’s a sympathizer with radical Islamists.

re: #71 Mattand

I was thinking the same thing. Part of the GOP strategy, IMO, is to wear down the public.

You know how sometimes you give into the 4 year old screaming “I WANNA ICE CREAM CONE!”, just to shut them up? I honestly think that’s what the game plan is.

Because, in general, the American people are too impatient/clueless/stupid to see it for what it is.

It’s the death by a thousand cuts. If anything, this little stunt should be the last straw for Reid regarding filibuster reform. He should tell McConnell that since the GOP has got such a hard-on for passing a budget, the Senate will do so on a simple majority vote, without Republican input.

Connie Mack: Ban LGBT marriage, but ‘you cannot legislate morality’ on guns

“So as much as it makes us feel better to pass legislation to say we did something, but all of us know — sitting around this table, watching your show — that you cannot legislate morality, you cannot legislate bad people to stop doing bad things.”

But clearly Mack does believe that it’s worth trying to force his personal morals on gay and lesbian Americans through legislation because he repeatedly voted against LGBT rights during his eight years in the House of Representatives.

He has voted for a constitutional amendment banning same sex marriage, supported an amendment that attempted to reaffirm the Defense of Marriage Act, opposed domestic partnership benefits in the District of Columbia, opposed hate crimes protections for LGBT people, voted against a measure banning employment discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and worked against the repeal of the military’s Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell ban on LGBT service members.

Given the choice between living next to a LGBT couple or a gun nut, I’d take the LGBT couple every damn time.

BTW, HR 325, which extends the debt ceiling until May, also attempts to hold Congressional salaries in escrow until a budget is enacted. It’s an attempt to circumvent the 27th Amendment, which prohibits withholding of salaries to compel action.

No law, varying the compensation for the services of the Senators and Representatives, shall take effect, until an election of Representatives shall have intervened.

It’s arguable that Section 2 of the House item is unconstitutional, even if it’s treating the salary in escrow. The functional result of holding the salaries in escrow is to vary the compensation.

Fox News psychiatrist: Obama pushing gun control because he was ‘abandoned’ as a boy

Fox News’ resident psychiatrist Dr. Keith Ablow believes that President Barack Obama advocates “disempowering” people through gun safety legislation because he was “abandoned” as a child.

Ablow on Tuesday told Fox Business host Lou Dobbs that the president had “hijacked” the slaughter of 20 children in Newtown, Connecticut “in order to advance his desire for gun control.”

“I’m certain that’s true,” Ablow opined. “Number one, the autonomy of others did him no favors as a kid, when he was abandoned again and again by people who were — quote — unquote — responsible and supposed to do the right thing, like parents. So his belief, ‘You know what? What good is individual autonomy in decision making? What good did it do me? The collective is what needs to be empowered, and all the better if I’m the center of that collective and the most powerful person in it.’”

House GOP To Supreme Court: Gay People Are Too Powerful To Get Equal Rights

For nearly two years, House Republicans paid conservative superlawyer Paul Clement $520 an hour to defend the anti-gay Defense of Marriage Act in federal court — and then sent the bill to the American taxpayer. In total Clement has now cost the American people up to $3 million for his efforts on behalf of this unconstitutional law. Last night, we taxpayers finally found out what we were paying for — a 60 page brief explaining why the justices should leave marriage discrimination untouched.

After touting the immense political clout of a group that, after 226 years of American democracy, finally managed to elect a single person to the upper house of Congress, Clement then drops this line:

In short, gays and lesbians are one of the most influential, best-connected, best-funded, and best organized interest groups in modern politics, and have attained more legislative victories, political power, and popular favor in less time than virtually any other group in American history… . Gays and lesbians not only have the attention of lawmakers, they are winning many legislative battles. And the importance of this factor in the analysis cannot be gainsaid… . [G]iven that the ultimate inquiry focuses on whether a group needs the special intervention of the courts or whether issues should be left for the democratic process, the political strength of gays and lesbians in the political process should be outcome determinative here.

Listening to Rand Paul tells you one thing quite clearly. The entire purpose for this appearance was for the GOP to create sound bites to be used against Clinton in the event she runs for the Presidency in 2016. To refer to the death of 4 Americans in a war zone as the worst tragedy since 9/11 is indefensible. But it was a carefully crafted sentence. He was putting words in Hillary Clinton’s mouth. “I am glad you accept culpability for the worst tragedy since 9/11” is crafted specifically for the ability to repeat it later in commercials and stump speeches. Its a fucking disgrace.
