Creationist Governor Bobby Jindal Is Calling Other People “Stupid” Again

Anti-science right wing governor apparently lacks a mirror
Politics • Views: 29,546

The media and right wing blogs are all buzzing about Gov. Bobby Jindal’s speech to the Republican National Committee, a warmed-over rehash of the talking points he’s been developing since the GOP lost the election, saying the Republicans have to stop being the “stupid party:” Bobby Jindal to GOP: Don’t Be ‘The Stupid Party’.

You can read the whole thing at the right wing Washington Examiner, where they think it was “dynamite:” Full Text: Bobby Jindal’s Dynamite Speech to the Republican National Committee in Charlotte.

The fact is, there’s absolutely nothing new or innovative about this speech. Jindal is simply repeating the same old tired anti-government lines the right has been recycling for decades, and if you’re looking for ideas on how to “reform” the party here, you’re wasting your time. It’s just another attempt to repackage the same failed ideology in something that looks like a shiny new box. From a distance.

But I have to admit, Jindal has huge brass cojones to call out the GOP for being “stupid” — when he has done more than any other Republican governor to legitimize the teaching of creationism, climate change denial, and all manner of religious right pseudo-science in Louisiana.

For one example out of many, a religious school funded by Jindal’s voucher program teaches that evolution is disproved by the existence of the Loch Ness Monster.

I don’t know, Bobby; that sounds pretty freaking stupid to me. However, I fully expect the media to applaud Jindal for this deceptive, self-promoting hooey.

Yeah Jindal and his education program are part of the problem. Of course, we’ll get told that he’s “different” because the stupid media loves sensationalizing rather than pointing out that Jindal’s probably more nuts than most of the Republicans who ran last year. I mean he’s obviously not stupid-stupid but he sure has some stupid policies.

Republican judges parse definition of ‘the’ to strike down Obama labor nominees

A Washington D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals ruling issued Friday declared that President Barack Obama’s 2011 recess appointments to the National Labor Relations Board were unconstitutional because the Congress was taking “a recess,” not “the Recess,” a parsing the judges claim “makes all the difference.”

You’re fucking kidding me.

nope. heavy on originalism, it’ll probably stand at the US Supreme Court.

If it does it hits almost all recess appointments of the last century. Not just the current NLRB and the CFRB but all of the Bush and Clinton and Bush and Reagan appointments - any decisions and regulations formed which are still timely can be challenged if this decision stands.

Jindal: “Today’s conservatism is completely wrapped up in solving the hideous mess that is the federal budget, the burgeoning deficits, the mammoth federal debt, the shortfall in our entitlement programs…even as we invent new entitlement programs.

We seem to have an obsession with government bookkeeping.”

That explains all the personhood amendments, transvaginal ultrasounds, and attacks on contraception.

Yep. Really Republicans aren’t for small government at all. A small government party wouldn’t have pulled the numerous stunts they’ve pulled on abortion in the past couple years.

Virginia Advances ‘Gangbanger Bill of Rights’ To Withhold Gun Crime Evidence From Federal Government

The bill, authored by arch-conservative Delegate Bob Marshall (R-VA), aims to:

Prevent any agency, political subdivision, or employee of Virginia from assisting the Federal government of the United States in any investigation, prosecution, detention, arrest, search, or seizure, under the authority of any federal statute enacted, or Executive Order or regulation issued, after December 31, 2012, infringing the individual Right to Keep and Bear Arms by imposing new restrictions on private ownership or private transfer of firearms, firearm magazines, ammunition, or components thereof.

On a party-lines 15-7 vote Friday, the Republican majority on the Committee on Militia, Police and Public Safety sent the bill to the full House.

Virginia blogger Ben Tribbett called the bill a “Gangbanger Bill of Rights,” noting that it could impede an FBI investigation of evidence found at a crime scene that involved a gun clip or assault weapon banned in future legislation and could prevent Virginia police from testifying in federal court cases.

Jindal is bat-shit crazier than most of them. Only difference is that his crazy is contained in a non-white wrapper and he runs his speeches through a spell-checker before he reads them.

He hates science and loathes poor people. The only reason he’s calling the GOP “stupid” is because they’ve stopped hiding their true beliefs and intentions behind thinly-veiled bullshit. Their racism, bigotry, misogyny, and stupidity has been laid bare at the feet of the American people, and it’s obviously starting to do damage to their brand.

This guy will never get anywhere nationally. I don’t think America will ever vote for a fire-breathing, bible-humping creep.

20 lawhawk  Fri, Jan 25, 2013 11:39:30am

It’s hilarious to hear Jindal calling on the GOP to stop acting stupid when Jindal’s done so much to dumb down the brand all by his lonesome. Whether it’s forcing creationism into the schools or shilling for the global warming denialists, Jindal’s the antithesis of intelligence.

By forcing creationism into the classroom, he’s consigning generations of Louisiana children to bogus claims, inaccurate statements and beliefs that trump scientific reality - observable facts and logic. He’s putting his state’s students at a tremendous competitive disadvantage when it comes to attracting science and technology companies since the student body will have no clue what constitutes a scientific facts when it comes to key biological concepts.

And when it comes down to it, his creationist bent harm’s the state’s economy because companies will choose to go elsewhere for a educated workforce and the state’s existing bodies of higher education will have a tougher time getting an educated student body from within the state.

Law of unintended consequences at work.

I wonder how many Republicans are gonna have to twist and contort themselves into Gordian knots to have those recess appointments (and the laws/regulations that derived from those who were appointed this way) upheld for those that happened during GOP administrations, if the Supremes affirm the D.C Circuit Court of Appeals decision?

I absolutely love this:
CNN Anchor Tricks Opponent Of Women In Combat To Endorse Racial Segregation

O’BRIEN: I’m going to read a little bit from this colonel who said this: ‘The army is not a sociological laboratory; to be effective it must be organized and trained according to the principles which will ensure success…Experiments are a danger to efficiency, discipline and morale and would result in ultimate defeat.’

BROWNE: I think that that’s true. I don’t think it’s true with respect to ultimate defeat of the United States in a war. I think what’s likely to occur though is the defeat of the United States in small battles, which means people are going to die. […]

O’BRIEN: That was from a guy in 1941. And that argument was about not allowing black people in the military. That was his exact argument of why blacks should not be allowed in the military, because it’s a danger to efficiency and discipline and morale and will result in ultimate defeat.

Speaking of stupid fucking morons, NM state Rep. Cathrynn Brown, a Republican of course, has ‘fixed’ her bill that would have charged women with a felony if they got an abortion after being raped. Now only the doctor would be charged.

[…]

That has been kind of hurtful for me because I’ve been very clear from the time the idea for this bill came to me that this is designed to stop rapists and there are lots of families that are affected by incest and it’s a bigger crime than I think most people know,” Brown told KOB Thursday.

She said she would write a substitute version of the bill to make that clear.

The new version of the bill on her website Friday has added the sentence:

“In no circumstance shall the mother of the fetus be charged under this subsection.”

So if the woman does not want to bear her rapist’s child, she can’t report the rape.

The bill is not going to get make it of committee, but Ms. Brown, a lawyer for fuck’s sake, should still be castigated as one of the many stupid fucking moron women-hating Republicans in America who should never be elected to anything again.

And she made my tweet disappear from her tweet’s responses. That shouldn’t be allowed.

From FR comments on Jindal’s speech:

You mean stop being perceived as the Stupid Party. There are plenty of scientists, doctors, engineers and successful businessmen in the GOP. We have to find a way to attack their stronghold, intellectualism, and show that there is much more to life and happiness and that mere knowledge is not the cure-all. In fact, too much knowledge, is toxic and leads to mental illness and eventually insanity in a brain where there is no wisdom or sense of balance. We also need to add a lot more youth and 20 and 30 somethings to the base. Love can be a unifying force and people will always gravitate to it when it is genuine.

Nah, given what we’ve seen of the RWNJs’ treatment of President Obama the past few years, Jindal’s biggest stumbling blocks to the national stage will be his skin color, his last name, and the fact that he could be considered (nominally) part of the GOP “establishment”.

Remember, Romney’s candidacy was only really viable (in part) because of that same GOP “establishment”…and that it was “his turn”. Had Romney not been in last year’s race, I could’ve totally seen either Perry or Huckabee be the GOP nominee, because that type is who the “base” really wanted…and I think they would have presented a serious threat to President Obama’s re-election chances.

That would have been real bad.

Fischer Warns of a ‘Complete Sexual Meltdown’ and the ‘Reinstatement of the Draft’ over Women in Combat Policy

Bryan Fischer of the American Family Association is now recycling the exact same talking points against allowing women the opportunity to serve in combat that he used opposing the repeal of Don’t Ask Don’t Tell (DADT).

While none of the dire predictions Fischer warned about regarding the end of DADT ever materialized, Fischer made similar warnings while speaking yesterday with Elaine Donnelly of the Center for Military Readiness. Like with the DADT’s repeal, Fischer predicted that the policy will undermine readiness, cohesion, security and performance, possibly leading “to a reinstatement of the draft.”

While Donnelly avoided Fischer’s question about reinstating the draft, she claimed that women will now have to register in the selective service system and said the policy will “harm women, men, infantry battalions and the national security of the United States.”

Letting blacks and whites serve together would ruin military cohesion, oh wait

Letting women serve in combat. Maybe conservatives who oppose this change in policy should look at where they’ve been wrong before instead of repeating the same tired claims. There are plenty of women who would make better infantry soldiers than I would. They’re soldiers who will happen to women. Not women who will happen to be soldiers. And for Fischer who would shit his sorry pants if he so much had to serve as a military cook has no right to disrespect and insult the women who serve our military like this.

Allowing Women On The Front Lines Could Reduce Sexual Assault, Joint Chiefs Chairman Says

Recalling his days at West Point, Dempsey told reporters that the military academy had become a much higher quality institution after the admission of women. The same transformative property would hopefully be seen in changing the culture of the military regarding sexual assault, according to Dempsey:

DEMPSEY: We’ve had this ongoing issue with sexual harassment, sexual assault. I believe its because we’ve had separate classes of military personnel at some level. Now, its far more complicated than that. But when you have one part of the population that is designated as ‘warriors’ and one part that is designated as something else, that disparity begins to establish a psychology that — in some cases — led to that environment. I have to believe the more we treat people equally, the more likely they are to treat each other equally.

The point of being conservative is to oppose progress, so no. At least in the US, the natural and proper function of a center-right party is to keep the center-left party honest by providing credible opposition.

The GOP might clean up its act about saying stupid stuff in public, but follow the money. The one part of the GOP program that is certain to remain constant is this business of benefitting the ultra-wealthy at everyone else’s expense.

The currently-used fig leaf for this is GOP “tax reform”.

‘We Beat The Liberals’: McConnell Campaign Brags About Defeating Filibuster Reform

Actually, I agree with that. Just got done listening to the podcast of last night’s Maddow. Reid not only dropped the ball, he jumped on it with cleats and buried it in a pit of quick lime.

My only guess is that Reid wants the Democrats to have the option of pulling the same obstructionist horseshit the GOP is doing.

re: #146 EPR-radar

The point of being conservative is to oppose progress, so no. At least in the US, the natural and proper function of a center-right party is to keep the center-left party honest by providing credible opposition.

Presently, the GOP is failing to provide that function.

The conservatives were even wrong about the way we should confront the USSR. The USSR was on the brink of collapse and the right wing funded a military build up that was not needed and did not cause the collapse of the USSR - it was already on the brink of collapse and unable to feed itself since the 70s.

Five Questions Fox News Sunday Should Ask Jerry Boykin

This weekend, we hope Chris Wallace will also take the opportunity to ask Boykin about his extremist views:

Do you still believe that Islam “should not be protected under the First Amendment”?

How soon will women in the U.S. “be wearing burkas” under the force of law?

What evidence do you have that President Obama is a Communist who is creating a Hitler-style Brownshirt army to “control the population in America”?

Do you still believe that America is under the control of a George Soros-linked “cabal” intent on creating a “global” and “Marxist government”?

Can you explain your view that American Jews don’t properly understand Adolf Hitler?

If Boykin wants to be treated as a credible voice on a Sunday show, maybe he should start by explaining just a few of his radical allegations.

Ah, Jindal. Speaking of stupid, I honestly think the “volcano monitoring” shit he said back in 2009 was one of the dumbest things I’ve ever heard from a GOPer. And yes, this includes all the shit about Obama being a Marxist who hates Jesus and America.

Forget Mt. St. Helens, Mt. Rainier, the Yellowstone supervolcano, and all the volcanoes that dot Alaska and Hawaii. Is Jindal familiar with a little place called Clark Air Base? Yeah, it was a major air force installation in the Philippines. It sat 15 miles from Mt. Pinatubo. In the spring of 1991, Pinatubo began stirring. Thanks to the hard work of USGS scientists, they were able to predict a major eruption at Pinatubo weeks in advance. Thanks to their predictions, thousands of US military personnel and their families were evacuated a mere 5 days before Pinatubo exploded in the largest eruption this planet has seen in the last 100 years. The death toll among Americans (not to mention the tens of thousands of Filipino civilians who were evacuated) would have been staggering.

Jindal has probably never heard the names Rick Hoblitt, or Dave Harlow, or John Ewert, but these men were heroes, and they stayed on after the evacuation, hunkered down in a bomb shelter while Pinatubo sent pyroclastic flows racing towards Clark. Maybe Jindal should ask the commander of the base at the time, General William Studor, who said the eruption was “scaring the hell out of me”, whether he thinks volcano monitoring is worth it.

Sorry for the long rant, but if Jindal doesn’t think the government should be spending relatively tiny sums of money to protect the lives and property of its citizens, he doesn’t belong on a fucking school board, much less in a position of power like Governor or Louisiana, or worse….

Fox Analyst Says GOP ‘Looked Like Weenies’ During Clinton’s Benghazi Hearings

Fox News military analyst Lt. Col. PETERS: Hillary mops floor with congressmen and senators. She was as James Rosen pointed out, she was prepared. She had it down. She had answers — anticipatory answers ready.

And the congressmen and senators didn’t do their homework. They made speeches again as James Rosen pointed out. They — their questions were ill focused. They went down the red herring road with Susan Rice as you pointed out.

Just read and posted the txt of Feinstsein’s AWB. I don’t know enough about specific makes of firearms, but it seems that everything already owned is grandfathered. NO registry required, as far as I could see.

Very stinky source there. ‘Amconmag’ is home to a pack of racists, Pat Buchanan being one of the lesser examples.

I have a smart meter and I see advantages in having one. When I moved here I called OG&E and they turned on the power in minutes from the Office. No waiting for a truck to come by to turn the power on. ( whenever they get to you). They can turn the power off instantly if you don’t pay your bills. I think they like that part. You can monitor your power usage in almost real time and adjust your usage to save money.

I admit to doing the second one alot.

Essentially, when in personal (as in face-to-face) debate with a Conservatives, I will often pull out the fact that Breivik had Tea Party ideas, and ask them if they approve of mass murder of Liberals and other people they don’t like.

It’s not so much just to change their mind, or trying to get them to be nicer, so much as intimidating them into silence. That what I did last year with the nut who was the MSA President.

Does anyone here think that this dunce Jindal will compete for the POTUS job?
There seems to be some momentum with respect to an increase in religion free people .
This would mean that fairy fans like Jindal would undergo justifiable atrophy
with respect to their plausibility .
What I’m waiting for is Americans to create satirical ridicule of such halfwits on television .

re: #189 ProBosniaLiberal

I’ve heard the argument that Reagan’s hardline policies actually may have extended the Cold War, as the Soviets then had to up Military Production, keeping things floating a little bit longer.

I have heard this said by the ex-Soviet leadership themselves - Gorbachev said in an interview Reagan’s policies made it harder for him to try and disengage from the Cold War and even withdraw from Eastern Europe like he wanted.

Also, Reagan’s policies in Afghanistan against the USSR caused 9/11 through blowback.
