Sarah Palin Made $15.85 Per Word at Fox News

You’d have to be a total geek to get into this…which is why I posted it.
Media • Views: 30,421

During her three years as a paid contributor at Fox “News,” former half term Governor Sarah Palin made $15.85 for every word she spoke, according to a study conducted by Smart Politics:

A Smart Politics review of the more than 150 FOX broadcasts in which Sarah Palin appeared as a paid commentator from 2010 through 2012 finds that she spoke 189,221 words on air during this span, for an average pay rate of $15.85 per word.

Palin appeared on the network in studio, by satellite, by telephone, or in a pre-taped interview an average of once every 7.2 days during this three-year period, with the vast majority of those coming on two particular programs.

Sean Hannity and Greta Van Susteren both interviewed Palin 55 times, combining for nearly three-quarters of her appearances on the network over the last 36 months. (Note: the latter total includes interviews by Griff Jenkins and guest host Martha McCallum on Van Susteren’s On the Record program).

Though the number of appearances were equal, Palin spent a bit more time in the 9 pm EST slot, delivering 72,986 words on Hannity compared to 67,987 words while on On The Record with Van Susteren.

Overall, 74.4 percent of the words Palin delivered during her political analysis occurred on these two programs.

Palin generally avoided the more hard-edged interviewers on the network with less than 20 appearances before Chris Wallace on FOX News Sunday (13,970 words) and Bill O’Reilly’s O’Reilly Factor (10,169) combined.

“Hard edged interviewers” on Fox? Uh…okay.

Anyway, you make the call - are Fox “News” and their viewers better off for this investment having been made? I say…absolutely! Roger Ailes and company know that Fox viewers demand vacuous analyses that confirms their own idiotic bias. And who better to provide vacuous analyses than Gov. Blood Libel herself?

Heh, indeed

Yeah, it’s hard to have Sean Hannity telling you’re great all the time and how everyone loves you and you should be president. I mean that would be tough for me because I have enough self awareness and don’t have Palin’s crippling narcissism but if you’re a narcissist like Palin………….

4 Skip Intro  Mon, Jan 28, 2013 1:33:18pm

I haven’t wandered over the the usual wingnut sites like FR to see how they’re taking the news of Fox being taken over by the Communists. Has anyone else taken a peek?

I suspect in time the name of the former half governor will be disappeared down into the deep of the wingnut Ministry of Truth.

I feel sorry for the poor unfortunate who had to listen to all those hours of Pa(l)in and make a little tick mark for each word she said. That is cruel and unusual punishment by any measure.

As for FR, they have all given up on Fox News a while back. It’s now the same to them as MSNBC, CNN or any of the other networks, just another tool of the liberal MSM. The fact that it’s partially owned by Saudi’s just clinched it in their brains. I’ve seen a number of them proudly state that the only places they get their news is Rush and FR. (Then I have to just curl into a small ball and cry till the pain stops).

Sarah Palin’s Entertainment Career By The Numbers

-$1 million: Sarah Palin’s annual salary as a Fox News analyst.

-189,221: Words Palin spoke on Fox during her three-year contract.

-$1.25 million: Palin’s advance for her memoir Going Rogue.

-469,000: copies of Going Rogue sold in its first week on the market. The memoir would go on to sell 2,670,000 copies in 2009.

-797,955: Copies of America By Heart, Palin’s second book, sold in 2010.

-$100,000: Palin’s speakers’ fee, as negotiated by the Washington Speakers Bureau, as of 2010.

-$200,000: The reported low estimate for Palin’s per-episode fee for Sarah Palin’s Alaska, her TLC show, which ran for a single season. One of the reasons the show ultimately wasn’t renewed? Palin’s salary demands for a second year.

-3.2 million: The average number of viewers who tuned in to Sarah Palin’s Alaska. She earned additional fees for the weeks she survived elimination.

-$15,000-$30,000: Bristol Palin’s range of speaker’s fees, as of 2010.

-$125,000: Bristol Palin’s base salary for her appearance on Dancing With The Stars.

-$354,348: Alaska tax subsidies for Bristol Palin’s reality show, Life’s A Tripp.

-726,000: Number of viewers who tuned in to Life’s A Tripp. Unsurprisingly, Lifetime cancelled the show after two airings.

-5.24 million: The number of viewers who tuned in to the first episode of Stars Earn Stripes, a 2012 NBC reality show in which Todd Palin and other celebrities competed to earn money for charities of their choice. That number fell to 2.88 million by the finale, and the show has yet to be renewed.

I’ll have to find it, but despite earlier reports that she had decided to part ways with FNC, it wasn’t over creative differences or disagreements with the staff. No, it was because they were only willing to pay her far less than what she’d been earning since originally being signed and she wouldn’t sign a contract for less than that. Grifters gotta grift, you know.

12 Awea  Mon, Jan 28, 2013 3:15:21pm

Sarah Palin’s Fox News Exit Marks How Much her Star Has Faded in Three Years

Sarah Palin and Fox News are parting ways. Real Clear Politics was first to hear word from a source close to the former governor that Palin had decided not to renew her contract at Fox News. The cable channel later confirmed the news with the New York Times saying that several sources had described the split as amicable. It turns out that while Fox News did offer Palin a new contract to keep the former vice-presidential candidate on staff, “it would be hard to describe it as a generous contract,” reports the Daily Beast’s Howard Kurtz. Although Kurtz doesn’t go into details, he says the new contract would have provided “only a fraction of the million-dollar-a-year salary” that she had been receiving.

Yeah the “broader audience” was sick of her by November 2008. Took many in the Fox audience four years to realize what most of us knew then that her act is lame and stale. And I bet her I’m always the victim act probably got too much for even them.

It just hit me!
My dog sleeps about 20 hours a day.
He has his food prepared for him.
His meals are provided at no cost to him.
He visits the Dr. once a year for his checkup, and again during the year, if any medical needs arise.
For this he pays nothing, and nothing is required of him.
He lives in a nice neighborhood in a house that is much larger than he needs, but he is not required to do any upkeep.
If he makes a mess, someone else cleans it up.
He has his choice of luxurious places to sleep.
He receives these accommodations absolutely free.
He is living like a king, and has absolutely no expenses whatsoever.
All of his costs are picked up by others who earn a living.
I was just thinking about all this and suddenly it hit me like a ton of bricks ~

Apparently, many in France are taking Qatar’s plea for dialogue as a sign they support Ansar Dine. Truthfully, the only nation we should be in in that region is Oman. They seem to be the only nation with their head screwed on straight in the area.

Hell, Yemen is partially a basketcase because Saudi took a chunk of that country. Oman is the only sane man.

The lack of RWNJ talking points is a problem. How does one get through the day without the comedy gold of someone arguing that anyone or anything sufficiently rich to be multinational should thereby be exempt from all US taxation?

This is what BFT appeared to be arguing for, in his more lucid moments, but it was hard to be sure.

Mississippi to last abortion clinic in state: GTFO

Mississippi’s only abortion clinic said it received notice Friday that the state Health Department intends to revoke its operating license.

However, the clinic, Jackson Women’s Health Organization, is not expected to close anytime soon.

Under a state administrative procedures law, the clinic can remain open while it awaits a hearing by the department. That could be more than a month away.

Clinic owner Diane Derzis said this week that she expected the notice about a possible license revocation.

Health Department workers inspected the facility Jan. 16 to see if it had complied with a 2012 state law that requires anyone doing abortions at the clinic to be an OB-GYN with hospital admitting privileges.

Derzis said local hospitals would not issue privileges to out-of-state physicians who do most of the abortions at the clinic.

Admitting privileges can be difficult to obtain. Some hospitals won’t issue them to out-of-state physicians, while hospitals that are affiliated with religious groups might not want to associate with anyone who does elective abortions.

“They were clear that they didn’t deal with abortion and they didn’t want the internal or the external pressure of dealing with it,” Derzis told The Associated Press on Jan. 11.

Republican Gov. Phil Bryant, who signed the 2012 law, has said repeatedly that he wants Mississippi to be abortion-free and that he’d shut the clinic if he had the power to do it.

Except that even if this clinic closes Mississippi WON’T be abortion free. Abortions will just go from being legally done to being done in back alleys with coat hangers.
