Right Wing Cage Match: Tea Party Hotness vs. Turd Blossom Karl

Internecine weasel fight
Wingnuts • Views: 31,131

It’s the new Tea Party hotness versus stale old Karl “Turd Blossom” Rove, in a cage match to the finish! The challenge to Rove’s supremacy is led by talk radio raver Steve Deace and Breitbart attack weasel Ben Shapiro!

I can only cheer them all on. Who could possibly take sides? May the best loon win.

I, sincerely and truly, would like a sane and rational second party, because there is a lot to be said for multiple viewpoints producing a compromise solution.

Sadly, I doubt that will be the outcome of this. That will not stop me from getting the popcorn though.

This is who is running your party.

If you don’t want to vote Democratic, fine. Vote 3rd party, or don’t vote at all. Just stop throwing your lot in with these nutcases. You’re hurting everyone.

A CHALLENGER APPEARS!!!

Joe Walsh: ‘If Rove Wants A Fight For The Soul Of The Republican Party, Bring It On’

Former Rep. Joe Walsh (R-IL) on Wednesday told TPM he is still talking to people and figuring out the necessary steps to create a super PAC to counter Karl Rove’s new group, the Conservative Victory Project. Rove’s super PAC aims to back disciplined candidates who can help Republicans win back a majority in the Senate, and to avoid nominating candidates like Richard Mourdock and Todd Akin, who got into hot water over comments about rape.

Walsh announced his plans to start a super PAC on Twitter Tuesday. In an email Wednesday, Walsh told TPM, “If Rove wants a fight for the soul of the Republican Party, bring it on.”

End homophobia in professional sports

There are many reasons why no gay athlete has come out in the NFL, NBA, NHL or MLB, most of which are likely to go away with support and acceptance from the straight community. As leaders and even role models for millions of young people across the globe, professional athletes have the ability to fundamentally eliminate prejudice from our sport and live up to the incredible privilege we enjoy.

Idaho lawmaker’s bill forces students to pass ‘Atlas Shrugged’ test to graduate

The chairman of the Idaho Senate’s Education Committee says that he introduced a bill to require all students to read Ayn Rand’s “Atlas Shrugged” because the book “made my son a Republican.”

State Sen. John Goedde (R) introduced the bill in committee on Tuesday to mandate that each student pass a test on the novel before they are able to graduate from high school, according to The Spokesman-Review.

But Goedde said that he filed the bill to make a point and does not plan on pushing the issue.

“It was a shot over their bow just to let them know that there’s another way to adopt high school graduation requirements,” Goedde said during the committee meeting. “I don’t intend to schedule a hearing on it.”

Well, looks like winter’s going to be making a comeback in the NYC metro area. Substantial snow in NYC metro (particularly N/W and then again up into New England). Courtesy of the NWS for NYC metro suburbs:

Eastern Passaic-western Bergen-Eastern Bergen-Western Essex-Southern Westchester-
401 pm est Wed Feb 6 2013

…winter storm watch in effect from Friday afternoon through
Saturday afternoon…

The national weather service in Upton has issued a winter storm watch…which is in effect from Friday afternoon through Saturday afternoon.

* locations…northeastern New Jersey and Southern Westchester.

* hazard types…heavy snow…sleet…and freezing rain.

* accumulations…snow accumulation of 6 to 12 inches…along
with up to a quarter of an inch of ice.

NYC should expect 6-10 inches. Which is about what we should be getting this time of year. Several times in fact. NYC metro has seen lower than normal precipitation, so this snow is needed (if not wanted by localities that were hoping to save some money by not dipping into their snow clearance budgets after getting whacked with Sandy costs).

This is one aspect of the modern GOP that I just cannot get over: they are heavily into political posturing, into bringing up legislation that cannot possibly get passed just to prove a point, like repeated attempts to repeal Obamacare, and as Karl Rove has pointed out, has now come down to fielding candidates who cannot get elected just to prove a political point

Philly has a deflector shield or something for weather coming from the west or southwest. You can watch on radar while the precipitation rolls up and then either evaporates or splits around it north and south while still 20 miles or so to the west. And that’s after the outer defenses (Blue Mountain) shove everything to the northeast to hit Scranton.

The nor’easters of course come in from the flank. Though this year they seem to be hitting land further north in order to make Lawhawk’s day.

Dobson Falsely Claims It Is Now Illegal for Doctors to Provide Stents to Anyone over the Age of 70

If Congress had recently passed, and President Obama signed, legislation making it illegal for anyone over the age of 70 to receive a stent for treatment of heart blockages, you would think that is the sort of thing that might have made news and people would have heard something about it.

If such a law had been passed, you would think we’d be able to find at least one news story about is somewhere and it wouldn’t be the sort of thing we’d have to learn third-hand from someone like James Dobson, who claims to have heard this unconfirmed report from some unnamed physician, right?

re: #94 Kragar

The conversation:

“I was checking out AKs at the gun store. Man, they’re expensive.”
“Its a seller’s market. What are you worried about a marauding horde of bandits suddenly showing up at your apartment? Wouldn’t a shotgun be more effective?”
“Second Amendment dude.”
“Tell me about the well regulated part again.”
“Second Amendment, private citizens owning guns stop tyranny. Look at the Minutemen.”
“You mean those guys who never won an actual battle on their own?”
“Go away.”

Hahaha. It is funny how they ignore the “well regulated” part.

Yeesh. Nothing but slush for Philly/South Jersey. Trenton must have some sort of weather disrupter.

Long Island is supposed to get mostly rain, maybe 1-3 inches of snow tops. But of course, I’ve got my Friday gig in NYC, so I’ll probably end up driving through some of that big snow if it gets into the city.

Dobson Falsely Claims It Is Now Illegal for Doctors to Provide Stents to Anyone over the Age of 70

Stents don’t even show a mortality benefit vs. more conservative (i.e. cheaper) therapies on most patient groups. So even if this story were true, it wouldn’t mean “letting them die.”

re: #81 Kragar

OFFS. My dad just had a quadruple bypass. Before the decision was made to do that, he was scheduled to have TWO stents put into his arteries. He just turned 74. The doctor saw the blockages were more severe than he thought and so they stopped the angioplasty and rescheduled him for the bypass.

WTF is wrong with these idiots?

I’m downloading the Big Mozart Box for $0.99!

LOL! I haven’t tried that one, but I downloaded the “Darkest Music” collection for 99 cents, and it’s like everything ever done by any East European orchestra. I didn’t know that one could get 30 gigabytes of miscellaneous music for 99 cents, but hey, who’s complaining?

Thanks. Had to move it to the cloudy part of Amazon while I’m in Linux.
