Breitbart.com’s Epic Fail of the Day: The Fake Story That Paul Krugman Filed for Bankruptcy

Covering themselves in wingnut glory again
Wingnuts • Views: 40,044

Seems like it was only yesterday that Breitbart editor John “Murder the Liberal Teachers” Nolte posted a lengthy gloat about the Washington Post falling for a satirical story at The Daily Currant, slamming author Suzi Parker for not recognizing a parody and ending with this memorable sentence: “[Palin] drives members of the elite media so crazy that the blindness of their hate overwhelms common sense to a such point that they turn into public laughingstocks overnight.

…never one to let facts get in the way of a good Narrative, the “we-meant-to-do-that” Post merely added a correction, changed the headline to “Sarah Palin tries to stay relevant,” scrubbed the Al-Jazeera references (the original post can be read here), and still ripped Palin for, uhm, being so desperate to stay relevant.

If Parker had a shred of self-awareness, integrity, and dignity, she would have changed the headline to “Too Good To Check,” and under it posted an essay about how shallow, smug, bitterly angry partisanship can blind you to common sense.

Yes, all the Washington Post did was add a correction, in bold text, right at the top of the article.

When breitbart.com editor Larry O’Connor fell for yet another Daily Currant story today about New York Times economist Paul Krugman filing for bankruptcy, how did the excellent right wing journalists at Breitbart handle it?

They just deleted it with no correction or explanation at all: Breitbart.com Runs With Satirical Story About Krugman Filing for Bankruptcy.

A screenshot of the deleted page:

Paul Krugman says he’s been Breitbarted.

OK, I’m an evil person — and my scheming has paid off.

On Friday I started hearing from friends about a fake story making the rounds about my allegedly filing for personal bankruptcy; I even got asked about the story by a reporter from Russian television, who was very embarrassed when I told him it was fake. But I decided not to post anything about it; instead, I wanted to wait and see which right-wing media outlets would fall for the hoax.

And Breitbart.com came through!

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have to go give a lavishly paid speech to Friends of Hamas.

I’m not sure why Breitbarts took the Krugman article down. It was about as accurate a story as anything else they’ve published. /

And to drain money out of public schools. I simply do not understand the mindset of abandoning infrastructure that’s already there and not lifting a finger to do anything to make the schools better(and parental involvement is a key, but not the ONLY key to fixing what’s broken). It helps create a shadow school system that deprives kids of a decent education. Gah. I’m so sick of wingnuts breaking things I could scream.

I’ll say it again: Why in the HELL would you elect people to run the government who hate the government? Would you hire a babysitter who hates kids? A doctor who wants patients to suffer and die? Shouldn’t you want people who actually give a shit about their communities and governance? And then these same IDIOTS whine and complain when things don’t work and blame it on the people who want it to work.

Being a Pagan I often get confused as being some kind of Satan worshipper. Of course my wife has no end of fun with it when she tells uber christians that I am a Pagan. They immediately start in with the whole “Oh let me talk to him so he can be saved” blah, blah, blah. She just laughs and tells them they’d have more luck converting a stone and that they’d be more likely to question themselves when we were done.

I have absolutely no issue with people believing what they believe so long as they don’t push it on me.

Not long ago here, I ran into a couple of missionaries, Americans (not LDS), and when they tried to ask me in Czech, “Have you heard about Jesus?” first I told them I was an American, and second of all, being a Muslim, of course I’d heard about Jesus.

They had that whole “does not compute” look going on….an American? White guy? Muslim?!

I wished them well, and went on my way, leaving two presumably very confused Americans behind.

Fischer: Marriage Equality Is Really ‘Inequality Under the Law’

Bryan Fischer is a big fan of the line of argumentation that gays already have full marriage equality because they have the same right to marry someone of the opposite sex as anyone else.

He reiterated this argument on his radio program today, adding that gay marriage is really “inequality under the law” because it grants to gay couples “a special carve-out for themselves that is not available to pedophiles and polygamists” and others who “engage in sexually abnormal behavior”:

Fox News revives Black Panther conspiracy to smear Obama’s labor nominee

Thomas Perez, Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Rights Division, is likely going to face some jaw-droppingly dumb questions in the Senate if he is nominated to become President Barack Obama’s next labor secretary.

That’s because one of the conservative media’s favorite conspiracy theories is that the Obama Justice Department protected members of the New Black Panther Party in Philadelphia after they stood outside a polling place intimidating voters in 2008. Although there were no actual complaints of voter intimidation to begin with, Fox News and conservative media made it into their own version of a scandal in 2010.

That scandal was revived by Fox News on Monday in a discussion about the likelihood of Perez’s nomination — namely, why Republicans should worry about him.

An interesting response to this PIB argument (polygamy, incest, beastiality) here (h/t Sullivan):

PIB Argument: The Logical Version

The logical version of the PIB argument, which is the one that philosophers usually favor, says that the argument for same-sex relationships makes an equally good case for PIB relationships. In effect, it claims that the pro-gay argument “proves too much”: if you accept it, you commit yourself to other, less palatable conclusions.

re: #73 FriendsofHummus

Yeah, I firmly believe that one of the reasons why catholicism and the fundies bag on Pagans and other religions so much is because we don’t have that soul-crushing guilt thing going on. It’s like someone on weight watchers getting jealous of the person next to them eating a piece of triple layer chocolate cake. They want it, they feel guilty for wanting it, and are jealous that the other person doesn’t share in that guilt.

The best is when you’ve spent hard earned money and lots of horrible time in therapy coming to grips with the guilt and become guilt-free! Other Catholics look at you like you are some creature from the Blue Lagoon.

I swear, it’s fantastic!

I have to admit, that’s one I’ve never understood….the whole guilt thing.

I look at it this way. If a person does something that violates the code/precepts/dogma of their faith, apologize to the deity of your choice, and get over it. OK; maybe try not to do that again in the future - consider that self-improvement, if you will - but that’s that.

No point in a person continuously beating themselves up over something.

Original Sin is the Augustinian way of saying we are not G-d. G-d is the only Perfect being. We are flawed, we will always be flawed and that’s the challenge of our lives, to try to use our Free Will and the gifts we have been given to overcome our flaws and be whatever G-d wants us to be.

Islam has the same basic precept…….that only God is perfect, whereas man is flawed.

But there’s no doctrine of Original Sin. There is a fairly strong emphasis on predestination, in the sense that God knows all thing, past, present, and future.

The individual person, however, does not. So in other words, you’d better be on your toes.

114 FemNaziBitch  Mon, Mar 11, 2013 2:29:05pm

This disconnect about what a rapist is is beginning to piss-me-off. Steubenville, OH for example.

Without the video, those young men would go on with their lives, be the college kid or co-worker no one would label as a rapist.

They, themselves would not think of themselves as rapists.

Just a stupid, silly thing they did when they were young and drunk.

The men defending them don’t think they are rapists —at least not outside the letter of the law.

Then the really, really good guys out there are on the defensive and feeling like they are being unjustly put under a microscope.

Even my good guy husband tells our son that a stiff prick has no conscious.

Sorry, I’m with those who say we need to educate men to not rape as well as educating women on how to defend themselves.

re: #115 FemNaziBitch

I don’t believe in predestination, too many variables.

I would say it depends.

God knows the outcome of all possible actions taken. Furthermore, God directs all affairs. The idea being, that if someone, anywhere in the world, breaks loose with a thunderous flatulence right now as you read this, God knew that was gonna happen.

It goes to the argument, does God know about all things, or does God cause all things to happen? In the aforementioned example, it would be God that caused that person to let one rip, if one is a believer in absolute predestination. I would imagine that a Supreme Being has better things to do than inflict gastrointestinal distress on people, but then again, maybe He’s so bored that He’s thinking…..”Heh. Check this out.”

I personally tend to parse it. I can accept the notion of a conciousness removed from the idea of time and space as we understand it…….for lack of a better term, I’ll use Arthur C. Clarke’s ‘Overmind’ from “Childhood’s End”. This Overmind knows all the potential outcomes of all possible actions taken anywhere in the vastness of the Universe. Sort of a Dr. Manhattan type.

Does the Overmind cause all things to happen? That’s debatable in my opinion. But then you’re getting into some heavy stuff that’s better left to philosophers and theologians to contemplate.

medieval christianity had a clearer idea of it. if you read langland’s ‘piers plowman’, a major classic of 14th century england, and more popular than his contemporary chaucer at the time, he talks of earthly existence as the ‘valley of soul making’

What you’ve described is very close to the Islamic doctrine which says that the dunya (life of this world) is but a test in which Allah determines whether a believer is worthy of admission to Paradise, or ends up in a distinctly uncomfortable place. The new version also lets you easily sign in to Twitter (if you aren’t already) so that an automatic tweet goes out when you post a Page.

And it has a way for you to edit the text that will be used for the tweet, so it can be different from the title of your Page.

If you installed the bookmarklet, you’ll have to delete the current one and then re-install the new one; had to make some changes to the size of the popup window and other things.

Catherine Herridge, Jim Hoft to Receive Reed Irvine Accuracy in Media Awards at CPAC 2013 | the Gateway Pundit

With all due respect, “accuracy” and “Jim Hoft” are not two things I would normally associate.

If they were giving an award for “tenacity in service of the conservative cause”, “sensational but misleading headlines” or “occasionally reposting unsourced Internet drivel without fact-checking”, I would award that to Jim.

Accuracy? Only a majority of the time, and much of that by technicality, minus the misleading headlines.

FPM undercover investigation of MSA finds nothing, which proves the Muslim Brotherhood is involved

Intrepid FrontPageMag reporter Mark Tapson didn’t quite find what he was looking for when he infiltrated the Muslim Student Association’s annual West Coast conference last month…but, he alleges, that’s just more proof of a secret Muslim Brotherhood plot to “radicalize” college students.

Tapson told Janet Mefferd in a radio interview Friday that far from finding anything “radical” or “damning” at the conference, “it was largely very innocuous.” He had high hopes for a workshop called “Islamatics,” for instance, but found that it was just about Islam and American politics. He even took pains to register for the conference under a “variation” of his name, only to be admitted with no questions asked.

But Tapson has a theory about why the MSA’s conference was so “innocuous.” It’s all part of Muslim Brotherhood plan, he tells Mefferd, to capture “the hearts and minds of the young.” This campus organizing and community-building, he says, “radicalizes them and it steers them toward further radicalization down the line.”

Tenn. Legislator Seeks To Make It A Crime To Protest Church-State Violations

Consider Tennessee. There, state Sen. Randy McNally has introduced SB 965, which attempts to address the issue of prayers before meetings of local government bodies.

McNally’s bill, scheduled for a hearing in the Senate Judiciary Committee tomorrow, purports to afford local governments “an opportunity to implement a written policy governing invocation practices before a lawsuit is filed on establishment clause grounds.…”

That may sound harmless. After all, who can be against a written policy?

But what McNally is really trying to do is set up a series of hurdles so complex, formidable and intimidating that no one in his or her right mind would even think about filing a church-state lawsuit.

In a torrent of legalese, McNally would require citizens who are interested in filing a church-state lawsuit to enter in a cumbersome and time-consuming back-and-forth dialogue with local officials prior to going to court. If they fail to do that, their lawsuit would be automatically dismissed.

Mark Kelly Brushes Off Breitbart Report: Who? (VIDEO)

On Friday, Kelly revealed on his Facebook page that he bought a used AR-15 at a Tucson, Ariz. gun store in an effort to illustrate the uninvasive nature of background checks. In the post, which included a picture of Kelly filling out a background check form, he said that he intended to submit the weapon to the Tucson police department. A story published Saturday by Breitbart suggested that the Facebook post appeared days after Kelly made the purchase. According to the report, Breitbart received a tip from pro-gun activist Neil McCabe regarding the purchase and was on the verge of breaking the news when Kelly’s Facebook post “suddenly” surfaced.

Appearing on CNN Monday, Kelly sought to rebut those claims while indicating that he’s not all that familiar with the conservative online empire, founded by the late right-wing firebrand Andrew Breitbart.

“Well, I don’t know anything about who Breitbart is or anything about his website,” Kelly told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer. The leading gun control advocate then insisted that the purchase of the AR-15 and the timing of the subsequent Facebook post was all part of a plan.

to really appreciate the meaning of hippies, one would have to have been around to experience the mad men world that existed before hippies

our parents wanted us to wear ties and suits on dates, keep our hair properly parted and kept off of our foreheads with vitalis, listen to ‘adult’ music like perry como or frank sinatra, and cultivate a properly deferential and fatalistic attitude about the world of gainful employment

deviance from these behaviors would surely spell doom for our worldly prospects and guarantee the life of a despised outcast from society

Always had a low opinion of hippies, because I was just able to squeeze into the last coda of the ‘beatnik’ era. “Hippies” were weekenders from the Bronx who shattered the cool of The Village.

yah, being a beatnik was definitely more exclusive and cooler than being a hippie. and there were other cultural distinctions:

beatnik - listens to modern jazz and likes abstract expressionist art
hippie - listens to “rock” (not “rock ‘n’ roll”) and likes art nouveau posters and tibetan mandalas

It was interesting and fun especially in the early years…but like most “eras”, it was not as exciting (or as stupid) as it’s portrayed in the movies. Meth came to the Haight in 1968 and it was downhill from there.

I recall reading that about meth hitting the scene in ‘68, and it pretty much all went straight to hell after that.

That’d be around the time that old Charlie Manson was hanging around the Haight-Ashbury scene, wasn’t it? Or had he and his creepy cronies scurried off to the Spahn Movie Ranch by then?

to really appreciate the meaning of hippies, one would have to have been around to experience the mad men world that existed before hippies …
deviance from these behaviors would surely spell doom for our worldly prospects and guarantee the life of a despised outcast from society

whenever i went on a date in 1969, my father felt compelled to tell me that i “looked like a bum”. (we didn’t call them ‘homeless people’ in those days)

Our parents were right.
When I was in high school 1955-1959, girls always wore skirts. Boys wore shirts with collars. Boys and girls both wore socks. Teachers were Mrs or Mr or Miss and we never imagined they had any existence outside school.

Stuff I didn’t know about before: Tora Bora wasn’t really this vast supervillain underground complex:

Tora Bora was variously described by the western media to be an ‘impregnable cave fortress’ housing 2000 men complete with a hospital, a hydroelectric power plant, offices, a hotel, arms and ammunition stores, roads large enough to drive a tank into, and elaborate tunnel and ventilation systems.[3] Both the British and American press published elaborate plans of the base which was readily accepted by the public. When presented with such plans in an NBC interview, the United States Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld said “This is serious business, there’s not one of those, there are many of those”.[4][5][6]

When Tora Bora was eventually captured by the U.S. and Afghan troops, no traces of the supposed ‘fortress’ were found despite painstaking searches in the surrounding areas. Tora Bora turned out to be a system of small natural caves housing at most, 200 fighters. While arms and ammunition stores were found, there were no traces of the advanced facilities claimed to exist.[6][7]

Manson has always held a certain morbid fascination for me as I was born around the time of the Tate-LaBianca murders (Helter Skelter) and my father knew the LaBianca family personally.

It’s up and down now. Summers, we’d always get a thunderstorm along with a shower. That was the 90s. Barely get those anymore. Then there were the winter snow storms with thunder and lightening.

Outrageous outrage alert:

And of course, the article that he claims disproves their presence on the SPLC hate map indicates every reason to keep them on the list:

Sometimes called Tridentine or Latin-Rite Catholics, they believe changes in the liturgy and doctrine from Vatican II are invalid, as are all the popes and any pronouncements they have made since then. They use an older, Latin version of the Mass and adhere strictly to doctrines in place before that council.

In the early 1980s, the congregation’s leader, Bishop Francis Schuckardt, was ousted amid allegations of sexual misconduct, drug abuse and financial impropriety. Schuckardt and some of his followers went to California, where he was later arrested for drug violations. The main congregation continued to expand and now has facilities in Omaha as well as Spokane.

The law center lists some of Schuckardt’s legal and financial problems and abuse allegations in its intelligence briefing, adding that his successor has condemned the Vatican for efforts to reach out to Jews and Muslims and that the church’s website has sold anti-Semitic literature or hosted speakers who talk about Jewish-Masonic conspiracies or praise well-known anti-Semites.

Puskorius said the bookstore might have stocked some books like the law center describes at various times, or had some speakers who talk about those conspiracies at Mount St. Michael at some point. “Those are opinions that people have. People have made the case for them,” he said, but the church doesn’t push conspiracies.

The congregation is not anti-Semitic, Puskorius said. It invited a Jewish photographer to its annual conference to discuss the Shroud of Turin, the cloth that some believe wrapped the body of Jesus after the crucifixion, he said.

“We do pray for the conversion of the Jews,” Puskorius said, because they believe that’s what the Bible teaches. “We pray for the conversion of all non-Catholics.”
Hard to get off list

Mother Kathryn Joseph, who was among more than a dozen nuns who left Mount St. Michael in 2007 to rejoin the Roman Catholic Church and form a new order, doesn’t believe her former congregation is prejudiced against Jews. She had been at Mount St. Michael for decades and hadn’t heard anything about Jewish conspiracies since the 1980s, when Schuckardt ran the congregation. She remembers seeing “Protocols of Zion,” one of the anti-Semitic books mentioned by the law center, on a table in those days, but the former bishop “had a lot of conspiracy theory things out.”

Like most Traditional Catholic groups, they reject Nostra Aetate, a letter from Pope Paul VI which denounces anti-Semitism, Mother Kathryn said. But that’s because they reject everything any pope has done for the last 50 years, she added, not because of the message.

“To suggest that they are anti-Semitic is just not fair,” said Mother Kathryn, now the head of the Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Church, a Roman Catholic order in the Spokane Diocese.

That’s right, they wrap their anti-semitism in a broader message of rejecting any church doctrine from Vatican II forward. All that outreach and reconciliation with Jewish communities is rejected.

But that’s just not anti-Semitism.

Gotcha.

This should be rather easy to resolve. Kelly can show the paperwork and indicating the date of purchase. Would that not also indicate the date the background check was conducted.

Then all the nonsense that the nutters have said about how they were going to out Kelly’s purchase before he “magically posted” that he was going to make the purchase and provide the same to the Tuscon PD would be proven as just that - nonsense.

Right now, we’ve got nothing but rumor and innuendo from those claiming that Kelly did something wrong or was embarrassed by the purchase or whatever it is they’re claiming he did wrong.

Mr. Obama has a long history of disdain toward gun ownership. According to Prof. John Lott, in Debacle, a book he co-authored with iconic conservative strategist Grover Norquist,

“When I was first introduced to Obama (when both worked at the University of Chicago Law School, where Lott was famous for his analysis of firearms possession), he said, ‘Oh, you’re the gun guy.’
I responded: ‘Yes, I guess so.’

’I don’t believe that people should own guns,’ Obama replied.

I then replied that it might be fun to have lunch and talk about that statement some time.

He simply grimaced and turned away. …

Unlike other liberal academics who usually enjoyed discussing opposing ideas, Obama showed disdain.”

Especially anecdotes like this which tend to stand awkwardly.

Timings. Lott was a visiting professor 1994-95 and a fellow from 1995-1999 at the University of Chicago. Obama was a lecturer from 1992-1996. Becoming active in politics he became a senior lecturer from 1996-2004.

Now here’s the fun part. Lott’s Big Entry, his paper co-written with David Mustard, wasn’t written till 1997. The book that made him “that gun guy” (More Guns, Less Crime) was a 1998 publication.

So for this story to work, Lott wasn’t introduced to Obama till three or four years after he started working at the University of College (to be “that gun guy”). This isn’t while Obama is full-time at the university but is instead after Obama began serving as state Senator.

As officers got out of the car to question him, Mr. Gray turned and pointed a .38-caliber Rohm revolver at them, the police said; two officers fired, hitting the teenager. He was pronounced dead a short time later at Kings County Hospital Center.

Mr. Gray did not fire the handgun, which was recovered at the scene. Paul J. Browne, the chief spokesman for the Police Department, said the six-shot revolver was loaded with four live rounds.

404 Killgore Trout  Mon, Mar 11, 2013 6:52:12pm
The shooting came little more than 10 hours after officers shot a man on Staten Island, in a traffic stop that turned violent. In that case, officers had information indicating that the driver of the car, a white Toyota Camry, had a gun in his possession, the police said.

As a pair of plainclothes detectives, their shields displayed, approached the car, near Manor Road and North Gannon Avenue around 1:15 p.m., the driver accelerated in an attempt to flee, pinning one officer against another car, the police said. The second detective then fired his gun after he saw the driver, identified as Clinton James, 33, of Staten Island, reach for a weapon, the police said.

Mr. James, struck at least once in the torso, continued to pull away but collided with several vehicles and then crashed into a utility pole. He was arrested and was sent to Richmond University Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition.

The police said the driver had an extensive arrest record. A .44-caliber Taurus revolver was recovered from his car, the police said. Mr. James was arrested on a list of felony charges that included assaulting an officer.

Uh, yeah.

On Saturday night, two undercover police officers shot and killed 16-year-old Kimani Gray. According to the police account, the officers approached Gray when he “adjusted his waistband in what the police describe as a suspicious manner.” When the police asked him to “show his hands,” they claim Gray turned around and pointed a gun at the officers, who fired 11 rounds. The weapon police say belonged to Gray was not fired.

NYPD indicates that Gray had multiple priors.

Mahnefah Gray, 19, (the victim’s sister) claims that witness told her that Gray was adjusting his waistband when he was shot.*

NYPD claim that that wasn’t the case.*

Forensics will tell only so much. Did Gray actually pull the gun? Did he fire it at police? Was he shot in the back? Was he running?

Forensics wont tell whether police said that they’d shoot him again once Gray was down on the ground.

But emotions are running high and there are reports of a disorderly gathering - not exactly a riot - that occurred earlier tonight that has since dispersed.

It is just a claim. A claim by police doesn’t become unambiguous fact simply because police make it, and neither does a recovered gun at the scene. We can give them the benefit of the doubt and assume what they’re saying is true, but unless you were there, it’s still technically a claim.

All that any news agency or blog can report, whether the NY Times or Think Progress, is what the police have said or claimed.

In this case, the police claim that it was his gun. Are you quibbling over the word “claim”? It’s no different from “the police said”.

In any case, this sentence:

The weapon police say belonged to Gray was not fired.

… seems to be saying that the weapon was not recovered. And of course if you follow the links on the Think Progress post, you get to the very page you quoted from.

I know, I know, it’s out of fashion to follow links, meaning that anyone can make up shit about something and hope nobody clicks the link, but I really don’t think that happened here.

I’d lean against it being a riot and call it a protest - disturbance at most. I haven’t seen any reports of any kind of damage done. Some strewn trash is about all I’ve seen. If it was a riot, it would have been top news tonight on the evening news. That wasn’t the case. Riots tend to make news in NYC - especially with an officer involved shooting.

Few more details about shooting: [Link: nymag.com…]

An unnamed 19-year-old who witnessed the incident told NBC New York that he didn’t think that the officers identified had themselves as police. “It all happened so fast. I didn’t even know they were officers,” he said. “I didn’t hear them say a thing.” 16-year-old Devonte Brown told the New York Post that he heard Gray yell “Stop! I’m not running,” as the cops opened fire. Gray never fired his gun, though it was later found to be loaded.

No. Judging by the evidence we have so far the shooting was not justified. Not based solely on what we have, which isn’t the testimony but is instead what the spokespeople claim is the testimony.

Did the police give the kid an order to drop the weapon? I don’t see that statement anywhere.

“He turned and was holding a gun so I thought my life was in danger” is a defense in some cases. However, officers are held to a higher standard. Among other things they must - unless shooting begins - make the attempt to resolve the situation peaceably.

Based solely on the information to hand at this time the shooting was not reasonable.

One of the ways that you “wait for the investigation before reaching hard and fast conclusions” is, for example, stating that the claims of the police are at this point only claims, and not absolute facts.

The police claim he tried to kill them. Of course they’ll claim that. We don’t know yet if that’s a fact, and to report it as such is irresponsible and dishonest.

I’d lean against it being a riot and call it a protest - disturbance at most. I haven’t seen any reports of any kind of damage done

Here’s a picture that purports to be from the protest/riot:

To me, that looks like a protest and not a riot, but I’m not there.

re: #465 Shvaughn

One of the ways that you “wait for the investigation before reaching hard and fast conclusions” is, for example, stating that the claims of the police are at this point only claims, and not absolute facts.

The police claim he tried to kill them. Of course they’ll claim that. We don’t know yet if that’s a fact, and to report it as such is irresponsible and dishonest.

To be clear, I did not do that. I give the NYPD a pretty large benefit of the doubt, but I know that this sort of shooting needs to be investigated and judgement must be withheld pending the results of same.

Well, good. Cuz earlier in the thread you were vouching for the honesty of the NYPD and backing up Trout when he objected to “claims.”

Agreed, but its going to be called a “riot” by the wingnuts. Whatever actually happened in the shooting or the protest that followed, you may be sure it will prompt some vile racist filth.

Dark, logically, thoughtfully, how in the HELL do you assume this? Because of the NY part of their name? Legacy good will. You actually have no idea.

Charges against Premo were dismissed at the beginning of this month because it was proven that 17 officers of the NYPD lied to the court. That’s enough people working in collusion that as of right now the NYPD’s trustworthiness is in complete question.

(Premo is the OWS activist who had his leg broken during the arrest. His claim is he was just standing there, a couple of officers charged him, and then a bunch more piled on. NYPD story was that Premo attacked from behind, striking and injuring multiple officers who then turned and seized him. Video turned up that showed Premo telling the truth.)

See also the post about the landlord mentioned by Dragonath and paged by FemNaziBitch. It’s the Post so it doesn’t get full credibility yet - but I’ve had friends telling me over the past few months that being black in NY is becoming a scarier thing when the police are involved.

No. NYPD credibility is not high right now.

Röhm revolvers, by the way, are considered to be among the cheapest and absolute worst handguns ever made. John Hinkley Jr. used one in his failed attempt to kill Reagan. Below is a Youtube video review by someone who owns one:

I like how the page displayed says less than 6 million rounds were used in any given month in Iraq. That kinda ignores the fact that the Army Logistics journal Army Sustainment discussed how the army was using 1.7 billion rounds just in 2005. Army.com confirmed it.

Bottles Hurled, Drug Store Worker Injured In Riot Over Brooklyn Police Shooting

Angry Brooklyn residents threw bottles, and left a drug store employee violently beaten Monday night, as they marched to the scene of this past weekend’s deadly police shooting, 1010 WINS reported.
….
Rocks were thrown at the windows of the police station, while garbage and bottles were thrown in officers’ direction, police said.

The crowd then headed toward the scene of the shooting, in front of a home on East 52nd Street, in East Flatbush, Rincon reported.

During the march, crowd members rushed into a Rite Aid at Albany and Church avenues around 9:20 p.m., and assaulted a worker inside the store, police said. The worker was taken to a nearby hospital with a head injury, and is expected to recover, police said.

Yes, but anything short of celebrating this kids death is clearly a sign of some kind of sinister racial animus.

I mean, it’s not like the death…and the life that led to the early death…of a sixteen year-old is tragic unto itself; or that a ethnic community that has struggled with institutional prejudice might feel ambiguous about the legitimacy of the presented narrative; or, God forbid, a gathering motivated by uncertainty in the face of troubled, foreshortened life.

It’s all Lieberalzzz and their made-up martyrs and angry black people shooting all the jobs.

No “probably” about it not being a riot:

WCBS 880 reported that by 9:50 p.m., the situation had calmed down. There were no reports of arrests or injuries. Police told WCBS 880 the melee was a “disorderly gathering of people” rather than a riot.

Police told WCBS 880 there were no reports of injuries or damage to property.

The one person accused of disorderly conduct was arrested at Snyder and Rogers avenues, police said.
