The Incredibly Strange CPAC That Stopped Living and Became a Mixed Up Zombie

Festival of Wingnuts even more ridiculous than usual this year
Wingnuts • Views: 30,067

I’m guessing that this isn’t exactly what the organizers of CPAC want to hear about their festival of right wing derp: It’s not hard to make fun of CPAC.

Nonetheless, there it is. Half-governor Sarah Palin, Donald “My Wig Has Its Own Birth Certificate” Trump, Mitt “47%” Romney, Dick “Human-Toad Hybrid” Morris, the no-standards Breitbrats, and Jim Hoft getting an “Accuracy in Media” award. Not only is it “not hard” to make fun of CPAC, it’s hard to avoid it. The conservative movement has thoroughly beclowned itself.

And I didn’t even mention the zombie-themed “speed networking party” or the “mingle sticks.”

More from the author of the second link above:

But winning the award for best title goes to this panel: “Are You Sick and Tired of Being Called a Racist and You Know You’re Not One?” It is unclear who will be talking about the use of the race card in politics, but we are sorry to report that Ann Coulter—who recently took up race punditry—is already slotted at CPAC for a later speaking spot.

Unfortunate stumble by the MBF at the end of the article, though.

Almost as important in who is chosen is the name that they will take - with the spiritual meanings behind the name and a bit of an indication about the direction they intend to take the Church.

I can only hope that whoever is chosen can figure out a way to affirmatively address the sex scandals, clean up the Curia, and preach tolerance and beneficence.

The site I pulled that picture from has some interesting articles on it. Including a pdf of the 40mm Bofors guns they are using. Basically old twin 40mm sets from M-42 Dusters. Easy to find when they were initially outfitting AC-130s. To find more they were looking for old mounts sitting at firing ranges and seeing what could be refurbished and reused.

Battle Pope

The book tells the tale of a hard drinking, womanizing Pope condemned by God for his own evil ways, who is called to action to save Saint Michael, with the help of Jesus H. Christ, becoming mankind’s final hope in a world overrun by demons following the Rapture.

“Think about this one time in heaven God was sitting up there with his sketch pad and he said, ‘you know I’m going to design human beings and would it be fun of they started doing this together with one another,’” Jeffress explained. “God dreamed up sex, He thought it up for our enjoyment, He gave us the equipment to enjoy it with.”

He went on to claim that homosexuality is like plugging a TV into a 220-volt power outlet rather than the recommended 120 outlet “because those are antiquated instructions” and “it’s my TV and I can do whatever I want to with it.”

Liberation theology
Bergoglio is an accomplished theologian who distanced himself from liberation theology early in his career. He is thought to be close to Comunione e Liberazione, a conservative lay movement.
Abortion and euthanasia
Cardinal Bergoglio has invited his clergy and laity to oppose both abortion and euthanasia.[3]
Homosexuality
He has affirmed church teaching on homosexuality, though he teaches the importance of respecting individuals who are gay. He strongly opposed legislation introduced in 2010 by the Argentine Government to allow same-sex marriage. In a letter to the monasteries of Buenos Aires, he wrote: “Let’s not be naive, we’re not talking about a simple political battle; it is a destructive pretension against the plan of God. We are not talking about a mere bill, but rather a machination of the Father of Lies that seeks to confuse and deceive the children of God.” He has also insisted that adoption by gays and lesbians is a form of discrimination against children. This position received a rebuke from Argentine president Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, who said the church’s tone was reminiscent of “medieval times and the Inquisition”

GOP Congressman Says Supreme Court Doesn’t Actually Get To Decide Whether Laws Are Constitutional

“Just because the Supreme Court rules on something doesn’t necessarily mean that that’s constitutional,” Bridenstine said in a Daily Caller interview posted Sunday. After accusing Democrats of “stacking the courts in their favor” — five of the current nine justices were appointed by Republican presidents — Bridenstine dismissed the idea that Congress must write laws within the boundaries set by the Supreme Court. “That’s not the case,” the Oklahoma congressman said.

The interviewer, Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas’s wife Ginni Thomas, didn’t have the heart to correct Bridenstine’s peculiar view of the Court’s role.

My father-in-law has cancer and the Mother-in-law (who’d much closer to religion than he is) invited over her uber catholic latino friends. They said that My father-in-law and mother-in-law needed to be married in the church and until then they could not have “relations” and basically my FIL would not go to heaven if they didn’t get married in the church. They also said we needed to get rid of my cats and that my wife and I should get married in the church or we’ll be damned, blah blah blah.

My wife kindly informed them “Hell No” and that there’s no way I would go for it (she was quite correct). She also informed them that trying to talk to me would not result in anything good, for them anyway.

I went to a Mass with them once that was in remembrance of my FIL’s father. Turned out to be the longest church service I ever went to and wasn’t just for the FIL’s dad but for a ton of other people as well as normal church business. It was also the first time I have seen a collection plate passed around about 20 times.

Breitbart editor Ben Shapiro: The only reason for ethnic studies is ‘to meet girls’

“Look, I took Jewish studies courses when I was at UCLA. There are only two reason that you take a Jewish studies course. The first is to meet girls, and the second is to get an easy A.”

“And that’s why most students are taking ethnic studies courses, unless they’re buying into this radical ideology that really is the basis of all ethic studies courses throughout America.”

“That explains a lot about the make up of some of those classes back in my school,” Kelly quipped.

Earlier on Wednesday, Shapiro had appeared on the Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN) where he told televangelist Pat Robertson that Republicans “need to stop arguing policy” and “punch back twice as hard” at Democrats.

“When they are called racist, the proper response is not, ‘Oh well, you know, I have black friends,’ That’s a silly response,” Shapiro opined. “The actual response should be, ‘No, you are racist for boiling racism down to anything with which you disagree.’ What that does is it demeans racism, it makes racism into something that means nothing. And that’s something Republicans need to do on a more regular basis.”

“We need to expose their tactics. The fact is that all of liberalism is based on slight of hand. They don’t have facts or evidence to back their positions so what they do instead is they play this moral game. They’re arguing character and we’re arguing policy.”

We wouldn’t be having this conversation if it were a GOPer who proposed the identical legislation that President Obama did and it was enacted in a similar fashion.

Individual mandate, the provision that the GOP came to call unconstitutional, was originally proposed by conservatives, including the Heritage Foundation, as a way of increasing personal responsibility.

But for who championed the bill, the GOP would have supported these same measures.

If the Church really cared about poor people, they’d sell some gold relics and feed people with the proceeds.

I can’t stand the wealth that surrounds the Pope.

There are social workers that do more good than the Pope.

Hmm, BBC was speaking to one of their reports who happens to be from Argentina. He said there was a rather nasty row between Bergoglio and the government over same-sex marriage. No time to Google it as I have to get back to work now… BBL

That too. Seriously, how ACA has been made out to be this massively leftist legislation is hilarious. The law is more closer to what Bob Dole proposed in the 1990’s than what Ted Kennedy championed for years. There’s a reason why a lot of liberals weren’t happy with it. I mean it is what it is, I’d rather have something than nothing in the end but to act like it’s leftist shows how nuts the Republicans are getting.

True, but the GOP of 2009 was not the one of 1996. Were Dole still around Capital Hill, he’d either have had to pull McCain’s bit of dashing to the far-right to keep his seat or he’d be marginalized as a “RINO.”

Wingers always getting their heads up their asses about ethnic studies programs. Really, I’ve known but a handful of people who actually majored in these. And frankly, if you’re a student of literature or music, those classes can be helpful. But no let’s freak our shit because there’s a class that specializes in focusing on African American, Asian American, etc culture.

Sort of like how he was ignored and the issue he was supporting got voted down the last time he visited the Capitol?

Seriously, when you take a general history or literature class, you’re going to get mostly white writers or focus on white people. Thinking about the post 1945 literature class I took my final semester as an example. Alice Walker, James Baldwin, and Ralph Ellison were the only non-white writers we read.

The annoying thing about that kind of shit is it distracts from very legitimate points of criticism. The bigotry of course sucks too.

@YesYoureRacist has been retweeting massive amounts of ugly, ugly shit these past few minutes.
The fact that those dipshits assume everyone from South America is automatically “non-white” exemplifies, above all, two things:
1) Most racists really are that fucking stupid, and
2) Not only racism, but the concept of “Race” itself is just incredibly absurd.

My uncle is a priest in the Catholic Church, a lawyer who studied Roman Law and taught it for many years in college, and was until recently a two-star general (chaplain) in the Armed Forces in the Dominican Republic (where my parents are originally from).

My standing joke with him was that when he passed away, I wouldn’t know if he was going to heaven, hell or Valhalla.

It’s actually a really diverse region. In one of Joyce’s Dubliners stories, the protagonist is hoping to sneak away to Buenos Aires with her lover. People who think “Oh, it’s just a bunch of Spanish speaking brown people” are not just being bigots, they’re being stupid but that’s par the course with bigots.

re: #313 Brother Holy Cruise Missile of Mild Acceptance

I totally missed this earlier—my apologies.

I wish people wouldn’t be so damned inflexible. It’s not helpful at all. *sigh* Sorry to hear about your FIL’s illness. :(
