Eric Allen Bell on ‘Jewish Supremacists’

Filmmaker moves from supporting mosque to Islamophobia to anti-Semitism
Wingnuts • Views: 39,049

Readers may or may not remember Eric Allen Bell—he’s the filmmaker and former “Kos Kid” who, back in 2010, was supportive of the construction of the Murfreesboro mosque, which had become one of the lightning rods of the anti-mosque hysteria that began sweeping the nation that summer.

Eric Allen Bell on Fox & Friends

Please bear with me here as this story gets quite labyrinthine, which is not unusual when looking into the history of people who fancy themselves to be brave counter-Jihadists and human rights advocates, but who are in reality nothing more than rank bigots with loud voices and a cadre of like-minded followers. Understanding the history of such people, the organizations they create, and their relationships to each other is key to being fully aware of their objectives.

Back to Mr. Bell. In January 2012 in a Daily Kos “diary” (a blog post by Daily Kos users), Bell suddenly began railing against the term “Islamophobia”, asserting that the website Loonwatch was involved in apologetics for radical Islam, and expressing sympathy for anti-Muslim propagandist & white nationalist admirer, Robert Spencer. Still, he held off praising the likes of anti-Muslim hate blogger Pamela Geller, but that didn’t last long.

Robert Spencer & Pamela Geller

Shortly thereafter, in March 2012, Bell penned an article for FrontPage Magazine praising Robert Spencer and his cohort Pamela Geller, which Spencer proudly displayed on his website. For the record, FrontPage Magazine is edited by David Horowitz who, along with Spencer & Geller, is part of the “anti-Muslim inner circle” as described in a 2011 report by the Southern Poverty Law Center.

Also of note, in 2011 both Spencer & Horowitz saw fit to lump the Anti-defamation League in with the “Jihadist apologists” via blog posts for National Review Online. Why would they attack a respected 100-year-old organization that “fights anti-Semitism and all forms of bigotry, defends democratic ideals and protects civil rights for all”? Because the ADL had the temerity to publish a highly critical report about Stop Islamization of America (SIOA) which exposed its ties to other extremist anti-Muslim groups & individuals (SIOA is headed by Spencer & Geller ).1

I’m pointing all this out to show that there’s a pattern here: There are people who are united by hatred. People whose hatred is so blinding that they’ll viciously attack and smear anyone who points out their bigotry, lies, associations with and/or support for some of the most morally reprehensible groups and individuals in existence.

Finally, again, we return to Mr. Bell. We left him after his early 2011 2012 “epiphany”, which caused the veil of liberalism to finally drop from his eyes and allow him to see how courageous and righteous Spencer & Geller’s messages of fear and loathing truly are. But wait—there was yet another epiphany to come!

According to this detailed article at the Nashville Scene, for the next year or so Bell busied himself with writing for various anti-Muslim/Islamic websites (including those belonging to Spencer & Horowitz), appearing on Fox & Friends, and accusing the Mufreesboro mosque and its members of having ties to radical Islam—ties for which he was unable to provide any proof, according to the article’s author:

If Bell has any smoking guns, he didn’t unholster them during an exhaustive 100-minute interview with the Scene. Bell says “there’s an unwillingness to look at the facts” when he speaks to “media that’s not conservative,” but when pressed for documents, records and other concrete evidence that would back up his claims of the mosque’s sinister intent, he was empty-handed.

How typical. Even when they do have “facts”, they don’t. They deal primarily in misinformation, disinformation, innuendo, and vague or tenuous “links” (see Frank Gaffney’s attempts to smear Grover Norquist and CIA Director John Brennan, or Michele Bachmann’s smear of Huma Abedin).

Guess what happened next? Last month Bell began posting anti-Semitic comments on Facebook, such as this Timeline Photo with a graphic showing the largest media companies (larger version found here) with a caption asking:

These 6 companies control over 90% of the media. What religion must one belong to, in order to have a chance at being CEO of one of these companies? BONUS QUESTION: What name or names is a person called, for even raising this basic and reasonable question?

Hmm, let me guess… Jewish & anti-Semite?

Further down, in response to a comment, he replies:

It isn’t “the Jews” or even most Jews. Look at it the other way around. Is there a head of a TV network or a movie studio that is not Jewish? The answer is almost always no. Look at who runs the IMF, the Federal Reserve and the US Treasury, just to name a few. Is it “the Jews”? No. But is it almost exclusively Jewish? Yes.
February 11 at 12:10pm

Nope, nothing anti-Semitic there. After all, he issued a disclaimer in the first sentence, so that means anything he says after that is inoculated against being anti-Semitic, right? RIGHT?? Like if you say, “It isn’t ‘the Muslims’ or even most Muslims, but are terrorists almost exclusively Muslim?” then you’re not an Islamophobe. Oh wait, but that’s different… No, it’s NOT—it’s exactly the same.

Getting deeper into The Protocols of the Elders of Zion territory, he continues:

Our society is slowly overcoming the brainwash around criticizing religion. However, we are not allowed to say anything remotely critical of the Jewish religion without being branded bigots, Nazis or antisemitic. How cleverly engineered our culture is. And who engineers the culture? What is the nerve center of our culture? Hollywood. Having worked in Hollywood for 20+ years I can tell you that everyone in the industry knows who is in charge.
February 11 at 2:51pm

Diving yet deeper, in another post we get to the part about “Jewish Supremacists”:

Jewish Supremacists (a group which does NOT include most Jews) control the IMF, the Federal Reserve, the US Treasury, the media and Goldman Sachs (which owns Obama). They seek to preserve and expand their influence, geographically, monetarily, culturally and every other way possible. To the Jewish Supremacist, “god” gave everything to the Jews and everyone else exists to serve this interest and is less than.
February 10 at 2:18pm

In the following he whines about the twin evils of Islam & Judaism:

See, here is how it works. You can criticize any religion except Islam, because then the death threats come. And if you criticize Judaism, you get called a Nazi and your reputation will be destroyed. Religion poisons everything.
February 10 at 4:45pm

Just like Islam, one must distinguish between the rank and file and the leadership. And just like as [sic] in Islam, there is much spin control and rationalization regarding the darker passages in Judaism, especially as they pertain to elitism and supremacy.
February 10 at 4:51pm

He gets seriously creepy in this post where he opens with a comment criticizing Islam & religion in general, then moves on to Jews again:

Will there ever be a day when hundreds of millions of women are not suffering under Islamic gender apartheid? Will there ever be a day when hundreds of millions of children are not brainwashed into believing superstitions, for fear of burning in hell when they die? Will there ever be a day when a small but elite group no longer takes from others, under the premise that they are “god’s chosen”? […]

One more shot at Jews:

So you believe that “god” gave a plot of land to his “chosen people”?
February 18 at 3:24am

Here’s where he ends up in a really dark place:

Nature creates dominance hierarchies. We need more low functioning people to do the manual labor. We need fewer high functioning people to lead. To meany [sic] leaders and we have a conflict. Historically there are probably more highly intelligent people living on this planet than ever before. That there are also a lot of mindless, superstitious breeders is nothing new.
February 18 at 5:36am

It goes on with more disclaimers and Facebook commenters who excuse anti-Muslim bigotry, but balk at anti-Semitism. I couldn’t stomach any more.

This is the sort of person Spencer, Geller, Horowitz, et al. embrace and welcome into the fold. These are the people Charles backed away from, with good reason and to his credit. Keep in mind their unrepentant viciousness & extremely pliable ethics next time you see a politician or other public figure associating with them, or if you ever happen to waver and think their hatred is only for others and would never be directed at you.

Robert Spencer, Pamela Geller & friends: Clockwise from top-left - Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich, Allen West, John Bolton, with Kevin Carroll, chairman of the far-right BFP, and Stephen Yaxley-Lennon (a.k.a. Tommy Robinson), co-founder of the EDL

Update: Speaking of politicians, it appears that Robert Spencer, Pamela Geller, Frank Gaffney, and others will be attending ‘The Uninvited’: A Session of Controversial Speakers and Topics hosted by Breitbart at this year’s CPAC. Perhaps it’ll provide some new photos of politicians willing to associate with them.

1. Robert Spencer and David Horowitz have a long history together, including, but not limited to, having co-authored two short, cheap Kindle books, Obama and Islam and Islamophobia: Thought Crime of the Totalitarian Future. Pamela Geller also co-authored a book with Spencer titled The Post-American Presidency: The Obama Administration’s War on America.

In addition to the many articles LGF, ADL, and SPLC have posted about them, Right Wing Watch also has numerous articles on Spencer, Geller, and Horowitz, not to mention others of their ilk.

Thanks. I was really annoyed with this guy, and since so many of the usual suspects were part of the story in one way or another, I figured I’d get the annoyance out of my system by making this Page. It worked, but it ended up kinda got longer than I’d planned. O_o

Thanks. This guy Bell is just a little fish in a big pond, but it just goes to show what sort of people the so called “counter-Jihadists” are willing to embrace. Still, even little fish need to be exposed before they have a chance to grow.

The only good news is that this latest fusillade should get Eric Bell properly shunned. This kind of open Anti-Semitism is rarely tolerated in any public forum save those that are openly racist.

Gotta love his conflation of ethnicity and religion. But while we’re painting with broad strokes…

It isn’t “the Christians” or even most Christians. Look at it the other way around. Is there a politician that is not Christian? The answer is almost always no. Look at who runs the governments at every level of our society. Is it “the Christians”? No. But is it almost exclusively Christian? Yes.

ZOMG we’re living in a theocracy!///

(The silly thing is, there’s actually a lot more true (some-form-of-)Christianity-privileging laws on the books than any other religion, but the above statement is still asinine.)

One must understand , that with Teabaggers and consrevatives there are “good jews ” who tow their line , and there’s ” bad jews ” ,any jew who does not approve their views and agenda . Bad Jews voted for Obama . There are bad jews in Hollywood , bad jews in the Media ,and bad jews in the universities teaching your children . Geller of course , is to be considered a good jew , if you were a bad jew voting for Obama , you can “convert ” by expressing a rabid hatred of Democrats and/or Obama , you then become a “good jew ” . Same holds true for Israelis .

Great article, CL. One thing I’m not getting, though: what caused Bell’s 180° flip on the mosque? Or why did he support it in the first place, as the kind of bigotry he displays generally doesn’t come on over night.

Rick Santorum isn’t comparing Obama to Hitler but he’s comparing him to Robespierre. That’s different (for now), but watch the wingnuts turn it into another lame meme.

re: #15 Bulworth

Really simplistic guess? He was supportive of the principle, but ran into some of the people of the principle he was supporting and couldn’t keep the two separate.

Using a way off-topic example, it’s hard to accept that because of the decision that led to the Miranda rights a — no, make that many major scumbags escaped justice. If you have to deal with those scumbags to any extent it becomes easy to reverse your position on the good thing the Miranda decision was.

According to the Nashville Scene article, it seems that hearing Frank Gaffney testify at one of the hearings about the mosque triggered the “epiphany”.

Not sure why he supported it in the first place—I never really looked into it. In the same article (above) the author says he refused to say who was financing his film. Who knows? Grifter looking for controversy to make a quick buck maybe.

Sorry I can’t stay to participate more, but I’m in the middle of working on something in preparation for an upcoming conference call with clients. J had no idea this was going to get promoted (thanks, Charles).

I guess even CPAC audience members tire of hearing the same old SoCon bullshit. Santorum while he is economically right wing appeals more to the SoCons. But don’t you worry, I’m sure Rick will be a hit at the “Value Voters Summit” or as I call it “Let’s bitch about everyone who’s not a conservative Christian summit.”

Yeah I eagerly await Bryan Fischer’s speech about how because there were gay Nazis that ergo we should discriminate against gays. Or Tony Perkins who thinks Eisenstadt vs. Baird is as bad a decision as Roe V. Wade. Really, I could have slept better without knowing that such people exist.

FRC to Pastors: Now THIS is an Anti-Gay Sermon

If the Family Research Council gets its way, evangelical Christians all across America will hear their pastor deliver a sermon written by an FRC official condemning homosexuality and the advance of marriage equality this weekend or next. On March 26 and 27 the U.S. Supreme Court will hear arguments in cases involving California’s Proposition 8 and the federal Defense of Marriage Act, and this week FRC emailed pastors urging them to hold a “Stand for Marriage Sunday” before then, providing links to a sermon and full-color bulletin insert recapping its main points.

The 4300-word suggested sermon and accompanying power point presentation start with the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton and march through every Religious Right talking point on homosexuality, marriage equality, and the Satanic, anti-Christian, Nazi-like gay rights movement that is inviting the downfall of civilization. Here are the section heads and some highlights:

I tried to make him a book cover, but he didn’t like it. Ingrate.
