My love’s an ocean
You better not cross it
Oh I’ve been the distance
And I need some rest
Yeah I had somebody once
And damn if I lost her
I’ve been running
Like a man possessed

I don’t scare easy
Don’t fall apart
When I’m under the gun
You can break my heart
And I ain’t gonna run
I don’t scare easy
For no one

Yeah, I am a loser
At the top of my game
I should have known
To keep an eye on you
I got a sky that ain’t never the same
Yeah, I got a dream
it don’t ever come true

I don’t scare easy
Don’t fall apart
When I’m under the gun
You can break my heart
And I ain’t gonna run
I don’t scare easy For no one

Please don’t post a link to an article that says he’s a d-bag. I can’t handle that kind of crushing confusion right now.

By the way, Josh Reddick & his beard could be an alright band name.

Goodnight.

Shaping styrene with an xacto knife is a pain in the ass.

Had to measure out 1x2cm rectangles, then shape them to form a equilateral trapezoid, then carve the base to fit a rounded top. This is to prepare them to get inlaid with 1mm strips, then framed with more 1mm strips.

Once that is done, I get to prime them and paint them. I get to do this 5 times.

Rebranding?
It’s ironic and funny..Awhile ago I was changing channels and came across the movie ‘Contact’ with Jody Foster.. Classic movie that starts out great and pretty much falls flat on it’s face.. But I was watching the scenes when they were doing CNN interviews with people and there were several spox from like the family values institute or something like that..
And those interviews could fit in Fox and you’d never know it.. I was laughing..There is no position movement at all with these brothers of love..
No change at all.. So my question is:
How do you re-brand that

While the assholes I grew up with, who I still hung out with, were calling gays names and worse, I was moving in a different direction at 19. I had begun to hang out with more liberal people. Artists, amateur musicians, communists (oh my!), and yes gay people. My boss was gay, waiters at work were gay and my friend Bob whom (correct usage?) I met at a house I regularly partied at was gay.

He was older than I was, many of my friends were. Early thirties. Sharp cutting wit which I appreciate of course. Eventually he was hanging out with us just one of the guys a talented piano player to boot. The first musician I knew that actually had gigs. Eventually I went to the bars, gay and straight, that he played at. After a while I was actually on first name basis’ with local drag queens!

This was pre Dahmer Milwaukee but post AIDS America. Bob was a needle user and got AIDS. It was heartbreaking. AIDS was new, people were afraid to be in the same room as him which destroyed this good natured man. He ended up completely withdrawing into himself by the end and died. I didn’t know AIDS either, but I held him like a brother. Laughing over joints while he faced his death. We were all facing it in a way. I listened to the people, so many people around say the most disgusting, bigoted shit about AIDS victims and gays. I’ve been thinking about him lately with the push for equal rights. Yeah. Bob was my first gay friend.

Shaping styrene to fit an arch is a pain. I can only shave off a hairs width at a time to shape it, then smooth out the arch with a low rpm rotary file. Working with styrene sheeting which is only .25mm thick. Any big cuts, too much pressure or letting the file sit in one spot too long and I mess it up.

Tonight’s 40k trivia (and why I’m messing around shaping bits of plastic)

Rubric of Ahriman

The Rubric of Ahriman was the name given to an immensely powerful ritual spell cast by a cabal of Chaos Sorcerers from amongst the Thousand Sons Traitor Legion who were led by the XV Legion’s former Chief Librarian Ahzek Ahriman, not long after the Legion had fled from their homeworld of Prospero to the Planet of the Sorcerers during the Horus Heresy. When mutation started to run rampant once again through the ranks of the Thousand Sons due to their exposure to the Warp energies of the Eye of Terror, Ahriman delved deep into the pages of the Book of Magnus, a massive tome compiled by the Legion’s Primarch Magnus the Red, that was filled with forbidden lore and sorcerous knowledge from ancient, forgotten days. Ahriman believed the Book of Magnus held the key to his Legion’s salvation. In the labyrinthine collections of formulae, incantations and rites, Ahriman devised what he believed would be the beginnings of a mighty arcane spell to undo all that had befallen his Battle-Brothers. Unfortunately, Ahriman miscalculated, for while the spell did stop the rampant mutation, it did so by transforming the Chaos Space Marines of the Legion who lacked psychic abilities into mindless, undead spectres, known as Rubric Marines, whose souls are trapped forever within their ancient suits of Power Armour.

So, how is the re-messaging efforts going in fly-over country?

Rhetoric over gay youth conference escalates

Conservative Christian leaders on Thursday criticized an Iowa gay youth conference as promoting evil behavior, and 16 Republican legislators pledged to vote against state funding for one of the sponsors of the event.

[…]

The Iowa Governors Conference on LGBTQ Youth, now in its eighth year, strives to fight bullying of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender students and those questioning their sexuality. It’s run by Iowa Safe Schools, a nonprofit organization.

About 700 students and educators will attend Wednesday’s event at Prairie Meadows in Altoona.

At a news conference Thursday morning, a mix of socially conservative lawmakers and pastors condemned homosexuality and called on Gov. Terry Branstad to demand that organizers of the youth event remove his title from its name.

[…]

Oh, the horrors of an anti-bullying campaign.

That’s the way those 16 Republican state legislators see it.

Continuing:

[…]

This year, 16 state lawmakers signed a pledge to vote “no” on funding for Des Moines Area Community College unless the school stops spending tax money on the event as one of its sponsors.

“We cannot in good conscience vote to give taxpayer dollars to people or groups who pervert the Bible (and) teach our youth to engage in dangerous behavior,” the Republican legislators’ statement says.

Oh, and I see the Michigan Republican of now some fame, Dave Agema, isn’t playing by Reince’s Rules:

Dave Agema says calls for resignation a ‘joke’ as critics blast Facebook post on ‘filthy homosexuals’

[…]

“First, I didn’t write these words, I simply posted them. More importantly, I will not back down,” Agema said in the email. “I will dig in and fight even harder to defend our conservative values from these attacks by liberals in the media, and even in our own party.”

[…]

Re-messaging - how does that work?

Well, this way:

TIME reported RNC Chairman Reince Preibus echoed Schostak’s statement on the post, which seemed to distance the party from Agema.

“Our party remains in support of traditional marriage, but that should never be allowed nor confused with any form of hate or discrimination toward anyone,” Schostak said in a statement.

“Any statement or message in contrast undermines our party’s platform and our common sense conservative message,” he added.

However, the chairman of the Michigan GOP appears to be trying to cushion any real action (as I wrote before) against Agema:

The Detroit News reported during a conference call on Michigan’s right to work law, which took effect Thursday, [chairman] Schostak said his statement speaks for itself and that Agema and his family would have to determine his future.

Respect him for what he wants to say,” Schostak said, according to the News. “That’s his right.”

Little bits of insight can be gleaned from the misc. parts in newspapers:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — An effort to seal Tennessee’s handgun carry permit records from public scrutiny would create an exception for political operatives and lobbying groups to still obtain the entire set of names and addresses.

Republican Sen. Ferrell Haile of Gallatin told the Senate Judiciary Committee this week that his bill is an effort to block the publication of handgun carry permit records on newspaper websites.

“We’re not trying to keep it where it’s not usable, but we want to keep it from being published,” he said.

Political operatives and advocacy groups want to be able to obtain the names and addresses of all 398,000 handgun carry permit holders so they can target them for fundraising and campaign mailings.

Sen. Mike Bell, R-Riceville, said he ran into similar issues when he tried to pass similar legislation years ago.
My biggest resistance came from members of my own party for this provision, who wanted to continue using it for political purposes,” he said.

What’s this, using gun owners for political purposes?

Alaska Rep. Don Young calls farm workers ‘wetbacks’

Rep. Don Young’s use of an ethnic slur to describe the California farmworkers who picked tomatoes for his father threatens to become an embarrassment for a Republican Party trying to court Latino voters.

In a radio interview in Ketchikan Tuesday, Young, R-Alaska, called the workers “wetbacks.” The pejorative term was once commonly used to refer to undocumented Mexican aliens who reached the United States by fording the Rio Grande along the Texas border. The Spanish term is “mojado,” for “wet.”

Speaking with a reporter for community radio KRBD during an Easter recess visit to southeast Alaska, the 79-year-old Young launched into one of his trademark diatribes against the federal government. Then, according to an audio clip and news story posted on the station’s website, Young moved on to a discussion of the economy and automation, offering up a personal example.

“I used to own - my father had a ranch. We used to hire 50 to 60 wetbacks to pick tomatoes. You know it takes two people to pick the same tomatoes now. It’s all done by machine.”

Bloggers quickly picked up on the interview Thursday, and by 7 p.m. in Alaska, Young’s office released a statement in which Young said he “meant no disrespect.” But Young stopped short of apologizing.

I was told that when you are crucified, you actually suffocate to death. You can’t breath being hung from your arms I guess.

As I understand, your lungs begin to fill up with fluids and you drown, so to speak. And it usually took at least two days, up to a week, even.

But Jesus was special, it only took him nine hours…assuming he was dead.

‘Mornin folks.

Good Friday. My $.02
I was raised gently as a protestant. On this day I try to step back and minimize the dogma, the hype and take the time to reflect. I try to think about Jesus the man. From ancient history up to today’s mega churches there are many men (and of course women) who had this drive to teach a way of life and or a belief system. Some we all know as household names. Some we almost all agree on others not so much.

Ever wondered what we missed by persecuting or dismissing these people? What lesson were just… lost?

And those interviews could fit in Fox and you’d never know it.. I was laughing..There is no position movement at all with these brothers of love..

Mainland strike plan that involved what missiles? None of his have the capacity to hit targets in mainland US. They might have range to hit Hawaii or Alaska, but not with any level of precision (so they could be aimed towards Hawaii and land anywhere within a few miles - in other words, in the ocean - much like Saddam’s Scud launches during the 1991 Gulf War).

I’d be much more concerned with his ability to set South Korea aflame with an initial artillery and missile assault. Jong Un wont be able to sustain things for long, and the US would be able to fly in aerial bombardments from a safe distance, as well as submarine launched cruise missiles.

If the North goes nuclear, it will get ugly for the North real quick and the Chinese or Russians aren’t going to stand in the way of reprisal nuclear strikes either (US doctrine calls for no first use, but reprisal in case of use of WMD against US or allies).

On my news feed this morning:

Time to Start Hoarding the Breakfast Tacos: North Korea Wants to Strike Austin?

North Korean director Kim Jong Un must not have gotten into that South by Southwest showcase he really wanted to see, because he’s named Austin as a target in his latest threat to attack the U.S. mainland.

Early Friday morning, The London Telegraph reported North Korea has revealed a plan to place strategic rockets on standby to fire U.S. targets. Besides Austin, North Korea is also supposedly targeting Hawaii, Washington D.C. and Los Angeles. The news followed photos of an “emergency meeting” that ran in a state-run newspaper, featuring large scale maps that appeared to target the Capitol City.

But Austin residents probably don’t need to worry about fleeing – and creating the mother of all I-35 traffic jams.

Baked on Good Friday in 1821: Britain’s oldest hot cross bun has been passed down through FIVE generations

It’s hardly the usual sort of family heirloom handed down to generations.

But this hot cross bun that was baked in 1821 is a cherished treasure that has been passed down through five generations.

The Easter treat was baked on Good Friday in 1821 and still has a cross on the top.

Nancy Titman, 94, keeps the 192-year-old bun in a box and, although undoubtedly past its sell-by-date, still shows no traces of mould.

The fruity bun, which has even retained its smell, was made by Nancy’s great, great, great grandfather, William Skinner, who owned a bakery in London.

It was made in the same year as Napolean died, George IV was crowned king, poet John Keats passed away and John Constable painted his famous Hay Wain picture.

Amazing. It beat the oldest fruitcake in age by 58 years.

Egypt arrests sub-sea cable ‘saboteurs’

Just a week after submarine telecommunications cable cuts off the coast of Egypt caused major disruptions to broadband services across Africa, Egyptian authorities have arrested three divers suspected of trying to sever the Sea-Me-We 4 cable system that runs through the region.

There are no immediate suggestions, however, that last Friday’s cuts to cable systems such as Seacom and the East Africa Submarine System (Eassy) are related to the latest developments. Seacom CEO Mark Simpson has said he suspects last week’s incident, as with most cable cuts, was caused by a ship dragging its anchor along the sea bed.

Reuters is reporting that Egyptian naval forces detained three divers on a fishing boat 750m off the coast of Alexandria. Authorities suspected they intended to cut Sea-Me-We 4, a crucial, 18 800km-long cable system that links the Far East to the Middle East and Europe.

According to Reuters, no reasons have been furnished for the alleged saboteurs’ motives.

I’m actually listening to the audio version of “The Domesday Book” by Connie Willis right now. It’s partially set during the Black Death, and yeah, it covers how, since it spread so explosively quickly and with no human interaction— i.e. people shut up inside locked towers could get it— they blamed heretics and foreigners and Jews and old women.

Problem? What problem? They see it as a feature, not a bug. They’re letting their inner xenophobe come trickling out for all to see. They hate the other - whether it’s foreigners who want to come to the country (illegal aliens included), Muslims, atheists, secularists, those who want to see the separation of church and state maintained by blocking laws that would impose Christian doctrine as the law of the land, and they’re catering to a declining bunch of people who have a similar worldview.

It’s an odd matter where Republicans won’t vote for anyone who doesn’t show the hate, and the rest of us find that hate too ugly.

Romney thought he could finesse this by having a reputation as a moderate but talking like Hitler on crack. I still can’t believe that he showed up at the NAACP just to call them all moochers for supporting the ACA.

Israeli filmmaker beaten unconscious at French film festival

A group of Arab youths have reportedly attacked an Israeli film director, Yariv Horowitz.

Horowitz, who directed the film “Rock the Casbah” was participating at a film festival in France when he was attacked by a group of Arab youths just before the film won the best film award.

He is reported to have lost consciousness and has been subsequently treated. Horowitz is said to have returned immediately to the festival after treatment. Authorities are estimating that the attack was racially motivated.

…After the violent incident, Horowitz’s film won the Special Prize of the Jury for Best Picture.

From the OMFGWTF?!? file:
CNN: 7,000 warned of potential HIV, hepatitis exposure

Some 7,000 patients of a Tulsa, Oklahoma, dental practice were being notified they could have been exposed to HIV and hepatitis over the past six years, health authorities said Thursday.

Dentist W. Scott Harrington voluntarily stopped practicing when the joint investigation by the Tulsa Health Department and the Oklahoma State Department of Health began, the Tulsa agency said in a statement. “The dentist is cooperating with investigators through his attorney,” the department said.

According to the State Board of Dentistry, the investigation into Harrington’s practice found “numerous violations of health and safety laws and major violations of the State Dental Act,” the health department said.

One of the members of a gaming/hardware forum that I frequent is one of this dentist’s patients and apparently got a nice case of Hep A from this place last year (they originally thought it might have been from some contaminated food at their local Walmart deli, but that was ruled out); I hope that’s all he got (and is able to get some restitution for it).

BTW, that “7,000 patients” figure is just over the past 6-7 years, which apparently is the max the state makes medical offices hold on to their patient records; this clown has been practicing for about twenty years from what I’ve heard, so there’s no telling how many actual victims this dentist actually has.

I foresee the mother of all medical malpractice class-action suits a-comin’…

Anti-Israel ads at Westchester train stations stir controversy

NEW ROCHELLE - An advertisement at Metro-North train stations in the Hudson Valley is once again stirring up some controversy.

The latest ad, paid for by American Muslims for Palestine, says “End apartheid now. Stop U.S. aid to Israel.”

The group is urging commuters to call for an end to the billions of dollars that the United States sends to Israel every year. “Allowing this foreign aid to go to Israel- the U.S. is essentially supporting Israeli policy of expansion, of continued building settlements, of human rights violations,” says Dr. Hatem Bazian.

I am sorry folks, but is this the MAGGOT that was elected President of our country? You know, the United States of America . I do believe that saluting the flag goes with that, as does respecting and honoring the service members who have died.

Does this pompous ass believe he is above that gesture? He can shower us all with flowery words and dazzle us with his B.S., but actions speak louder.

If you go through Gallup, Obama’s still got more favorable than unfavorable in overall numbers. That is, more people consider him in a positive light than a negative light. Also, the Gallup poll he attached is from February, and that’s before the sequester, before the trip to Israel, etc.

There isn’t a more recent Gallup poll to go by either. But there’s a disconnect when you see that the Obama favorable/unfavorable versus the other numbers.

Beck: Common Core Designed to ‘Train Us to be a Serf State’ Ruled by China and Islam

Last night, Glenn Beck spent a good ten minutes randomly placing colored dots all over his chalkboard, laying out his vision of the future in which the world is systematically overtaken by a combination of China, Russia, Islam, and Nazism, which will reduce most of the Western World to third world conditions

In the case of America, Beck prophesied that we will see parts of the country give rise to Nazi control before eventually being co-ruled by some combination of Islam and China, in which China uses Islam as its enforcers to subjugate us and “get rid of anybody who is standing up.”

And so it only stands to reason that this is “why Common Core is here, because it will train us to be a serf state”:

Dana Loesch shouts at Piers Morgan: A spoon ‘can be qualified as an assault weapon!’

Following Thursday’s revelations that Newtown shooter Adam Lanza had fired over 150 rounds with an AR-15 in less than five minutes, Loesch appeared on CNN to argue that it was a “false premise” that Lanza had used an assault weapon.

“We are talking about semi-automatic weapons,” the former Breitbart editor explained. “I do not own a military-style assault weapon. Just because, what, a firearm looks scary then you call it military assault? Do you realize that one of my children has a BB gun that looks like an AR-15? Is that going to be considered a military-style assault weapon? It sounds silly and uneducated.”

CNN host Piers Morgan noted that Lanza had “in the space of 300 seconds using an AR-15, killed 26 people. He had magazines with 30 bullets.”

“Anyone can reload!” Loesch shouted.

“Are you telling me that doesn’t qualify as an assault weapon?” Morgan asked.

“By the technical definition, no, Piers,” Loesch shot back. “Oh, anything can be qualified as an assault weapon. If you stab someone with a spoon, it can be qualified as an assault weapon.”

“So you’re equating stabbing someone with a spoon with shooting dead 26 people?” Morgan wondered.

Best rebranding ever!

The GOP’s push for inclusivity suffered some setbacks this week.

Earlier this month, the Republican National Committee released its 2012 election post-mortem, conceding that the GOP must do more to reach out to minority communities. The RNC even pledged $10 million to the effort.

Asked at a press conference how the GOP can bring gays and women into the GOP fold, RNC Chair Reince Priebus said the key is to treat people with respect. “I think it’s about dignity and respect, that nobody deserves to have their dignity diminished, or people don’t deserve to be disrespected,” Priebus said on March 18, the day the RNC released its report.

But less than two weeks since then, it has become clear that not everyone in the party is on board with the GOP’s new message of inclusivity. Here’s a rundown of the speed bumps the GOP has encountered this week on its way toward a more tolerant party.

An information blitz against who? The North Korean regime has cut off communications with the outside world, so people in the North don’t know what their leader’s saying/doing other than what the regime tells them. The South? They already know - they see exactly what’s going on and have the ability to check news reports from around the world. So, I’m not getting who exactly would be getting an information blitz.

Walmart pays shit and they can’t keep enough people to stock their freaking stores or run the registers.
Costco pays 11.50 an hour and treats their employees well. They are still a successful business.
BAM!
