Daily Caller Hack Charles C. Johnson Now Attacking “47%” Videographer Scott Prouty

Typical right wing response when their tiny egos are stung
Wingnuts • Views: 29,462

Call on the clue phone for Daily Caller hack Charles C. Johnson: it’s too late for the smears. Your guy lost.

The only thing he achieves by personally attacking Scott Prouty at this point is to further cement the right’s reputation as vindictive, dishonest, and flat out nasty. Obviously, Prouty made the right decision by laying low until after the election, because the attacks would have been even more vicious.

Whatever Scott Prouty’s personal history might be, it has absolutely no bearing on what that video showed. That’s what really makes the ugly vindictiveness of Johnson’s hit piece obvious.

Republican rebranding!

The grapes, they are so sour.

I’m surprised it took THIS long for them to start the smears. I would have expected Anchor Baby to already publish Prouty’s home address, personal cell number, blood type, and the home address of his parents.

4 Targetpractice  Fri, Mar 29, 2013 11:36:29am

The attacks not only would have been more vicious, there would have been far more effort to make the story about him than about Romney and his comments. By keeping quiet and hidden, Prouty kept the focus on Romney.

It’s pretty rich for the party of “no you can’t see my tax returns” Romney
attempting to smear someone for having a bill for unpaid taxes.

28 jaunte  Fri, Mar 29, 2013 12:04:33pm
In those statements, which were widely condemned during the presidential campaign, Romney disparaged the “47 percent” of voters committed to President Barack Obama, ”who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it.”

And nothing Charles C. Johnson writes about Prouty can change a word of Romney’s contempt for 47% of his fellow citizens.

Palin Rails Against Consultants, But Spent Millions On Them In 2012

Sarah remains a canvas onto which conservatives can project their ideals about what America should be and hear those ideals bounced back at them in the form of pithy, you-betcha aphorisms.

It will guarantee her a good share of the votes, not necessarily enough to win general elections, but certainly to be a force to be reckoned with in any GOP primary.

Why do they care about or attacking the person who recorded the Romney’s statements? Many conservatives defended the statements at the time, and since the election have continued to insist that PBO won only because of welfares and poors and voter fraud.

Yes, because they know that such recordings will have no force behind them in an election if they’re released anonymously.

Wait, what?

Yes, the 47% tape might not have cost them the election, but it nonetheless cost them a lot of votes and made it a lot harder to convince poor and low-income people that they give a shit about anyone who is not paying “enough taxes”.

The “Washington establishment” wing of the GOP understands enough about politics to know when and where to keep shut and win elections and then start acting like dicks.

The “true conservative base” is made up of those who feel the need to spread the Gospel Truth by shouting it from the rooftops. And since they are the loudest, they will be heard over the establishement GOP every time.

Yeah, it’s a sign that the media has gotten more efficient because of the internet that it’s no longer possible to hide who Republicans ARE.

Well they need to hide if they want to win national elections.

You know it’s funny, if the Republicans had emotional discipline, if they could drop the contempt they could easily take over and stay in power.

Matthew 7:3

60 Local Media Monitor  Fri, Mar 29, 2013 2:48:06pm

On a side note, what’s interesting to me about the background of the video is how long it took Prouty to gain exposure to it. In fact, before the MoJo article came out, I saw excerpts of the video on youtube, at which point it was being ignored. But it seems that for many people, unless they are told that something is important, they often don’t recognize it as important. And vice versa, they can be made to think something is important when it really isn’t (also the basis of advertising in many cases). For example, if the NYT, CNN and MSNBC all simultaneously highlighted the story of the El Salvadorean death squad link to the Iraq War, it might suddenly be the big news story it deserves to be. But we aren’t being told it’s big news, so it’s not.

61 Patricia Kayden  Fri, Mar 29, 2013 3:00:08pm

Prouty pretty much expected to be attacked by the Rightwing. He was smart to wait to come out until after the elections.

re: #62 Patricia Kayden

Indeed. MoJo said he was very intent on not making the story about him. There might have been more than one reason for that.
