Sen. Inhofe ‘Proud’ to Be Anti-Science Climate Change Denier

Ignorant and proud of it
Wingnuts • Views: 27,052

Sen. James Inhofe may be the leading Republican anti-science climate change-denying religious fanatic, and he’s proud of it.

Sen. James Inhofe (R-Okla.) sees criticism of him in a recent documentary about climate change as a badge of honor.

He’s among the targets in “Greedy Lying Bastards,” a recent film that claims to document fossil fuel industry-backed efforts to sow doubt about climate science and thwart emissions curbs.

“I was not surprised to see myself front and center on the promotional material for this climate-change movie, and quite frankly, I’m proud of it,” Inhofe told Tulsa World.

Sen. Inhofe is an ongoing embarrassment to the United States — a demagogue in the pocket of the energy industry, actively working to keep Americans blind to the terrible threat of global warming. A truly awful person.

If Republicans regain the control over federal government they had from 2001 to 2007, we are history as a country. The current batch makes those guys look like friggin’ hippies.

He’s proud to be an idiot is he? I guess he’s in good company. Shouldn’t you have to have a basic working knowledge of science and civics(at the very least)before holding elected office? Every time one of these nitwits runs their yap it makes the case for something like that to be done. We really cannot afford this level of stupid anymore.

Anyone who spends any time outdoors at ALL on a regular basis knows there’s been a change in the climate over the last 10-15 yrs. I’m a pretty avid gardener and I can see very noticeable changes. The USDA growing zone map has changed too. I went from being solidly in zone 7 to being right on the edge of zone 8. The birds and pollinator populations have changed as well. But you have to leave your office and your giant SUV and break a sweat to notice.

To be a creationist you have to reject science outright and embrace the creationist faux ‘science’

The deaths aren’t likely to be in North America. Areas like India/Pakistan will be hit the hardest.

Arkansas residents evacuate as Exxon-Mobil tar sands pipeline ruptures

An Exxon-Mobil oil pipeline ruptured Friday afternoon in the town of Mayflower, Arkansas, forcing the evacuation of 20 homes and shutting down sections of interstate highway. According to Little Rock’s KATV, a hazardous materials team from the Office of Emergency Management has contained the spill and is currently attempting a cleanup.

The burst pipe is part of the Pegasus pipeline network, which connects tar sands along the Gulf coast to refineries in Houston. Thousands of gallons of crude oil erupted from the breach around 3:00 p.m. on Friday, spilling through a housing subdivision and into the town’s storm drainage system, fouling drainage ditches and shutting down Highway 365 and Interstate 40.

Residents were evacuated to avoid health hazards from crude oil fumes and to keep stray sparks from igniting the standing oil. Emergency workers contained the spill by hastily constructing earthen dams.

And how much you want to bet that town doesn’t see ONE PENNY from Exxon-Mobil over this?

Hell down here in the Gulf BP is STILL a dirty word even 3 years after the spill.

Here in America.. We have always been problem solvers and a light beaming for the world to follow. Our scientists are world class and leading the fight for health, Industry and technology. They now are calling for the world to be good stewards of earth and resources. Is that such a high barrier to cross?
This is the world’s chance to develop sustainability technologies for the future. God would be proud of us. Do RW Christians really want to bring shame upon us for lack of action? We can do better.

I believe the appropriate RW response to such a statement is: Fuck you, I’ve got mine.

More promotion of ignorance from Inhofe’s colleague Tom Coburn:

…The amendment defunding political science was adopted in a voice vote that surprised many observers. Ending federal funding for political science research has been a longtime cause for some Republicans in Congress, including the measure’s sponsor, Oklahoma Senator Tom Coburn, and the effort has failed many times in the past.

The amendment allows the government to pay for political science research only if the director of the National Science Foundation certifies the research as “promoting national security or the economic interests of the United States.” The remaining money will be used to pay for other federal research programs.

The vote drew an immediate reaction from the American Political Science Association, which called the ban a “devastating blow,” “an exceptionally dangerous slippery slope” and a “remarkable embarrassment for the world’s exemplary democracy.”

“The amendment places unprecedented restriction on the national research agenda by declaring the political science study of democracy and public policy out of bounds,” the group said in the strongly worded statement.

Continued public ignorance of the ramifications of policy decisions is one of the ways the Republicans can continue clinging to power.
