It’s hard to avoid noticing that every single right wing website on the Internet is frantically yelling about the Kermit Gosnell case today, in a unison chorus that’s impressive for its message discipline if nothing else.

The right wing beef this time, as in so many of these situations, is their contention that the mainstream media are deliberately ignoring the Gosnell story because it makes the pro-choice movement look bad. But as Sarah Posner points out, feminists and pro-choice activists have been on record condemning the criminal practices of Kermit Gosnell from the very beginning.

On the other hand, Alex Seitz-Wald asks: On Gosnell “Blackout,” Where Were Conservatives Before This Week? And the answer, of course, is that they were nowhere.

The instant right wing outrage phenomenon of the day has clearly been engineered to take advantage of the Gosnell trial to attack the pro-choice movement, and make further advances toward criminalizing abortion (the ultimate goal). And it’s almost comically obvious.

For example, let’s use Google’s search tools to check breitbart.com’s coverage of the Gosnell case. Of course, today there are currently nine articles about it on the front page of the site:

In the last month we find dozens of articles at breitbart.com, the majority complaining about the media’s lack of coverage: Gosnell site:breitbart.com - Google Search.

However, if we use the date tools to search for the two-year period between January 1, 2011 and January 1, 2013, we find … a grand total of two stories: Gosnell site:breitbart.com - Google Search.
